I used to knit a lot of christening gowns in lace weight cotton thread (Australian summers are savage) and lined them with a matching fine cotton fabric. I used the rolled hem foot on my sewing machine for the hems and did french seams for the rest. I've never had a Bernina but a lot of the ideas work with other machines. Now that I have an overlocker I do the first part of the french seam with a rolled hem then switch to the sewing machine for the final part of the seam. Some people don't want to see overlocker stitches on babywear. This is much easier for manipulating fine or slippery fabrics.
I just finished this dress and am cutting out another one today! I’m going to England in a couple of weeks and I’m having lunch with Lisa Comfort/owner of Sew Over it as well! I love their patterns. I use my serger and coverstitch machines as often as I can. I use the 2A foot to repair “toe blowouts” in my tights! Love your videos on Bernina feet!
Very excellent and informative tutorial. Thank you! The new Bernina overlocker looks AMAZING! I am tempted to ditch my Babylock serger and buy one. Love all the on-screen directions. I have the 64 foot and it is tricky to get going on a hem when using it. I will try the tips and hints you suggest, Thank you!
I’ve never really seen a Bernina machine or overlocker in use before. I have to say i’m impressed 👍🏼

Gayle - very informative video. Appreciate the examples and alternative methods.
Thanks for this. I have both the machines you demonstrated so will be trying this soon.
