Fun fact: the Dead Three became gods by making a deal with the original god of murder, death and tyranny, Jergal. You were in one of his abandoned temples super early into Act 1, where you fought some skeletons and opened a sarcophagus to reveal Withers. Also in the party, there's a chest full of letters from various people in the game. They're very wholesome.
Karlach's flame turns blue when she's happy. When fire turns blue it's said to be the hottest. I always cry at that scene no matter how many times I see it. Her VA killed it this game. Great first playthrough!
Ah, the blue was a little concerning as I hadn't seen it before, but it looked lovely. Her va was absolutely outstanding, I had tissues prepared because I could just feel that Karlach's ending would break me
I've watched a few people play BG3, but your playthrough is the one that resonates the most with me. Love the way you connect with the characters and the story and the way you break down your thoughts about each of the characters. Can't wait to see your Dark Urge playthrough! I hope you recruit Minthara, as I would love to see what insights you have for her.
I love the evolution of your connection with these characters since the beginning such as how much Shadowheart was on your nerves. The arc people go on is amazing.
Shadowheart and me, both as tav and myself, were bickering the entire first act LMAO. She's without a doubt one of my favorite characters now. I can't wait to see how different she is being romanced
@@CuriouslyKay I feel that Shadowheart and Lae'zel have the best character journeys, with Astarion having the best singular cathartic moment. It's really interesting, when you know what's going on, to see how much Shadowheart is trying to get rid of Lae'zel and using the latter's rough edges to sew division because she's trying to hide the artifact
Don't know if you saw it, but there is a chest in the camp with letters from characters we met during the story (such as zevlor, Arabella and others). It is really cool see that Larian gave us and ending of this characters too.
Jaheira's "nature's servant awaits" line is a reference to Baldur's Gate 1. it was a super common phrase for her to say in-game while in your party, as well as Minsc's "go for the eyes, Boo!" 😆 congrats on completing the game! honestly, if you wanted to record a Dark Urge or an evil run (or both) with a new character and class, i'd totally tune in 😅
This let's play honestly was one of the best I ever fucking saw like Jesus. The editing makes it so much more entertaining to watch especially for a ADHD person like me. Second you are so fucking funny Like I be laughing out loud to a let's play just like when I was a kid. And every time I saw that you posted I made food and got ready to watch. I'm gonna miss this Serotonin boost but oh well. I'm exited for whatever you make next I can't wait!
Lae'zel is the best. Her gazing around the camp in the epilogue is her taking in the scenery and appreciating it for the first time. Throughout the game she tells you that you helped her see beyond blood-red and death-black, so in the epilogue she's finally at peace with being present on Toril with you.
Wooo! Congrats on finishing! There actually is a third option for who becomes a mind flayer-if you say you need a moment to think, then talk to Karlach, she'll volunteer. Or, at least, she did for me when the emperor was still around, but there's no reason I can think of for it to be different with Orpheus. Her logic being that she thinks she's dead anyway so she might as well be the one to sacrifice herself. Not that that's a good option either, but well, it's there.
As far as I understand it, it seems you can not actually "become" a mind flayer. What happens is that the tadpole eats your brain, absorbs your memories and knowledge, destroys your soul and use your body as building material to transmute its mass to an Illithid form for itself. So, no, you do not want such a fate. Alternatively, "some" of the consciousness somehow survives the process but without a soul that enables what is left of that original individual to survive death and move into the afterlife.
Ironically this was the first episode of your playthrough that I was recommended! I finished the game for myself not that long ago and wanted to see other people's reactions to everything that goes down at the end of the story. The good vibes, how engaged you are with the story (+ being a fellow Lae'zel enjoyer 🙏) convinced me to work my way through all of your episodes back to here :) Thanks so much for sharing the journey! I will definitely be checking out your dark urge playthrough too! Just not until I make some more progress on my own durge run ^^;
If you do a Dark Urge playthrough, there’s two arcs that you can follow: 1) Evil, and 2) Redemption. Redemption arc is really great. I could dabble in a little evil, but I can’t go full evil. This game will let you go full evil to an extent I didn’t think was possible in a video game. Btw, redemption arc with Shadowheart romance, chef’s kiss.
The only BG3 playthrough I made it through. Perfectly edited, but still long enough to see mostly everything. It was an incredible journey! What's funny is you had a very similar playthrough to me, except for some key differences.
I kinda feel bad for the Emperor. If you take some of the things he said and what Orpheus said in his last cutscene, being an illithid eventually consumes who you used to be. And given that Emps said that he initially tried to reverse his condition but that it "grew on him", I imagine the same happened to him over time. I say all that to say that I would maybe cut Balduran a little slack, but it's totally understandable to hate his guts all the same.
Yeah the implications of him slowly changing into who we meet is terrifying on a personal level. I'd like to imagine that Balduran wasn't as cold as we see him as the Emperor
Considering that in the trials we see what he valued most, and how much that flies in the face of what we see later, I think it's fair to say Balduran died when the tadpole was put in him and the Emperor is just a creature who has the former's memories
The easiest way to explain it is that any mindflayer is basically imprinted with the memories and personnality of the host, but is devoid of soul (from our skully bro himself). And like most things with an imprint, it slowly fades out with time, since they have to consume brains to live on :(@@CuriouslyKay
Nah fuck him, he turned Duke Stelmane into a thrall which made her have a stroke that partially paralyzed her, all while lying about it. I don't care about who he "was" just who he "is". Just like how lae'zel "was" a rude prickly grouch, but now "is" a rather pleasant companion.
Yeah, my choices on my first game lead to a very similar route, and I have to give huge props to the writing team for Emperor. He is very, very well written I think - it's a great imagining of how being human and transcending humanity have a cause and effect. I think he really thinks he's being courteous and fair, but it all comes from a place what he remembers humanity being like. He has his memories, but superior cognition and living with that for such a long time does make you think you're superior. He kind of is. But that doesn't remove the reality that he's dealing with mortals, speaking with mortals, and calling mortals allies. "Allies" does not mean subservient, and it's a surprisingly natural reaction for him, IMO, to stray away from that realisation more and more. It's his reality clashing so hard on a mortal's. Emperor is one of the most curious characters in the game and I hate that I can kind of see his logic, while in reality I am forced to acknowledge my understanding of what's being human is something else entirely - and I too chose to be human, after all. Splendid writing. @@CuriouslyKay
Hey Kay I'm not much of a commenter but I'm stepping out of my comfort zone 💪 Thank you for this series, you're genuinely such a delight to watch and I loved watching you experience the game for the first time. It was so refreshing to find someone who really understood each character and their stories so well. I don't think there was a single take of yours that I disagreed with. As a sapphic myself it was also lovely to see my girl Lae'zel get some love. Thank you again I'll be lurking around in the future probably not commenting❤ (I was also wondering if you're cool w me drawing fanart)
Thank you so much for watching! Before uploading I wasn't into commenting like that either, so I take this as a huge compliment! I absolutely adore Lae'zel so it's been great seeing other people connect with her story, even if it's just through my playthrough I have absolutely no problem with fanart. Not sure if you post anywhere, but I am on tiktok as well so feel free to tag me so I can check it out!
Had to take a pause on watching until I finished my own playthrough but it was SUCH a treat to watch you finish yours! As always your commentary is so insightful and your willingness to engage with what the game wants you to feel is amazing. I personally had a few too many issues with how they handled Orpheus to be as emotionally invested, so it was really cool to watch someone who was! (And also someone who cried as much as I did at Karlack’s whole story 😂) Can’t wait to see what a Dark Urge playthrough looks like! Thanks again for sharing your experience!
I know it sounds terrible, but that thumbnail has me hyped! I was literally crying yesterday morning while watching your last video and I can't wait to see what choices you made in the end here...
I was just thinking, we already have a few companions for BG4 if ever. We have Mol and Arabella. Shadowheart could potentially a recurring ally like Jahiera. Who else do you guys think could be potential companions in future releases, if ever?
Kudos to you for doing the Netherbrain fight without any allies! I had to summon like 10 of them to tank that annoying dragon's fire breath. EDIT: There seems to be a missing cutscene for Laezel after you convince Orpheus to stay alive. It's so much sadder.
On my second playthrough i romanced Astarion with my Drow Dark Urge. Together we ran off into the underdark to lead the vampire spawn. What a great ending lol
I really feel that the emperor would only do whats good as long as it ensures its survival. The moment whichever path of good it takes lowers the chances of his survival, bro truly would nope out just for it to live. Which is so freaking interesting to me especially when considering it as a foil to Orpheus, because despite the ages of torture and quite frankly, enslavement, by the emperor during this whole journey, Orpheus would actually work together with people who he had every right to kill, and even accept his own death, all for the greater good. Full respect to Oprheus, too bad i just love my non illithid self too much HAHAHHA. Still barely a quarter through this video but i just wanted to say thank you for taking the time and effort to uploading these, this is really my favourite bg3 playthrough to watch 😄😄😄 Congrats on finishing the game, i will definitely stick around for more of your videos :DDD !!
Also, dont know if you know this yet, but a certain companion could also turn into an illithid, instead of you or oprheus. I did that in one of my endings and i was NOT happy, but honestly, none of the choices made me happy 🥲🥲🥲 oh well i guess our character's luck in getting what they want cant always be fulfilled, makes sense that THIS is the one time i cant be fully happy with the choice i made
Yeah that's how I felt about the emperor and orpheus as well. I was way too attached to my tav to ever have her make that sacrifice though so it was nice knowing Orpheus for the little bit that we did
Fun lore: Milil is the god of songs and poetry. He got banished by cyric, the god of lies, when he made a ballad mocking cyric. Also did you noticed he called withers "the scribe" and withers also mocked the 3 gods at the post ending scene? With those clues plus some of the books in game they will tell you who withers really is. It can easily be missed since it so subtle and since youre new to forgotten realms yoy might not know some of the old lore from the books. If you want to avoid reading and want to know just type the word "banana".
@@CuriouslyKay dark urge run would be great. Are you going to do evil durge or good durge? People tend to think durge is always an evil run but i always love resisting the urge. Hope you try a good durge but just different approach from your first run. I tend to do evil playthroughs at my 3rd or 4th runs.
Oh I noticed your Astarion was a bit bugged during the epilogue. I had the same bug. He just stayed planted in one place, normally he would play with his knives at the table, throw them, steal wine and complain about it haha And most importantly he would sit down by the fire place on the spot where u let him bite you :')
Only 4 characters can face the netherbrain as a mindflayer: 1) The main character (either custom or origin), 2) Orpheus, 3) Karlach, and 4) the Emperor. Arguably, the Karlach option is the best because she actually wants it as it allows her to stay in Faerun rather than die or go back to Avernus. It’s similar to Wyll’s sacrifice of his human form to that of a demon to allow Karlach to live. Even the Gale bomb option requires an illithid option as described above. Unless another patch comes out with another option, these are all you have.
The Gale bomb option actually doesn't require anyone to turn illithid. You just need to convince Orpheus that if it doesn't work you will change, and you do still get the option to change right before you climb the brain.
@@WinglesDragon perhaps you found a dialogue loophole, but I never got an option to bypass turning into an illithid. I even played as the Origin character, Gale, and Orpheus didn’t let me off the hook even though I intended to utilize the bomb scenario (I wanted to secure my Honor Mode completion). I’ll have to look out for this option in the future, but I don’t plan on killing off Gale, anymore.
Oh I read through those, though it took a while so it didn't make the video. They were all so sweet, definitely the right move for Larian to add those for the characters that weren't at the party
I don't leave RUclips comments as a rule. But as someone with 700~ hours in this game since EA, going on this journey with you and your analysis and emotional investment in the story has been worthwhile enough for me to break that rule. I hope you do a Dark Urge run just to see the differences. But even if you don't - glad to have spent these hours playing while watching you play on the side monitor. Keep it up!
I used to be exactly like that, so I take it as a huge compliment that I got a comment outta you. Thank for watching! This is one of my favorite games I've played and it was so great to be able to share it!
a while ago i saw a clip of you playing bg3 on tiktok and i knew i needed to check out your channel! it was such a delight watching you play this game and seeing how you connected to the characters and the story. i'd definitely love to watch you play other games! also...was not expecting you to mention the leliana romance from dragon age. i romanced her in origins, and it always makes me smile when someone else mentions they also romanced her. the epilogue in DAI was so important to me knowing that she and my fem warden had some sort of closure.
I always love seeing people from tiktok make their way over here, idk how many people here have seen both the short form content from tiktok AND the full videos, so it always makes my day I ADORE leliana. I started with inquisition first, but 100% went back to DAO for her specifically after seeing she wasn't a romance option in that one. Her and the warden getting their happy ending was too good!
Agh, so happy to have found your channel & your playthrough, Kay! You’re hilarious & the force of your own emotions as you played through resonated w/ me, esp the times when you were overcome w/ tears. I hope to be wrecked & reassured the same way once I finish my first campaign (I’m romancing Karlach too, so I will need ALL the tissues). I love a good bittersweet ending, too! So excited to see more from you in the future. Congrats on your first completed campaign. Take care! ❤
Great video as always! The final decision to make Lae'zel stay with you or go to her people has to be one of the hardest choices I had to make in the game. Also I've never seen the ending with Minsc being a prisoner of the Zhentarim though I think I can guess why that happened in your playthrough. You needed to go back to 9 fingers Keene after saving Minsc to complete that storyline. Did you check the letters in the epilogue by any chance? Those are nice little parts of the ending too!
Milil is modeled after Borislav Slavov, the Composer & Music Director for Baldurs Gate 3. Was a nice touch to add him as Lord of Song, cause he is just brilliant^^
Loved watching you play! Lae'zel was my first romance too. This was when it first came out, before the fixes and patches. My Tav and her went off together, fighting the good fight. In my game though, my husband turned his Tav into a Mindflayer, so Orpheus took over as Gyth leader. Can't wait to watch more! Highly recommend Dark Urge! I'm currently running a resist Durge, and loving it.
If you want to know what the Emperor really is, read the book in his hideout. “Pay attention to its actions, not its words. Where mind flayers are concerned, it is true that actions speak louder than words. Especially words that are tailor-spoken to fit a mind flayers’ manipulative agenda.” The moment you know this is true is when he tells you he’s still the person he was before he became a mind flayer. The Great Lie the mind flayers tell is that they are their host in a mind flayer candy shell. When a mind flayer is born, the host dies. The mind flayer maintains some of the memories and motivations of the host for a short time, but that will fade. They were never their host. If you give the crown to the Emperor, you quickly learn how true that is. That is how you know you can trust Omeluum, in my opinion. He never pretends to be anything but a mind flayer, and refers to his beginning as the moment he became one. He does not try to appeal to you and seem anything more.
This was such a great playthrough! Super excited to see your future Dark Urge--my very first playthrough was a Dark Urge redemption path and it was genuinely such an incredible story, it's actually hard to imagine playing just as Tav after that for me tbh. Also gotta say it's great to see the whole epilogue here because I'm on Mac and the epilogue is broken enough that I couldn't even talk to Karlach, which was killing me, so this was the first I was able to see how her story shook out (very well! thank god). This was such a great time. Thanks for the playthrough and looking forward to the next!
at the reuinion party there is a chest with a lot of letters from a lot of people you met throughout the game(depending on your choices) like arabella and mol, and the thieves guild and stuff. incase you are wanting to read those
Wooo congrats on finishing the game! It was a blast seeing you experience everything for the first time, and be completely immersed in the story and characters! I'm excited to see what else you will post :)
I am unsure when (I finished the game one week ago), but Larian added extra options to Lae'Zel's final decisions (in front of Orpheus). I had a similar playthrough (romanced her) and selected one of the other new paths. If you'd like to know the other options I got, there you go... Spoiler. . . . . . I convince Orpheus to keep living and got these options: °You can go with Lae'Zel and fight together against Vlakith (My first option) °Lae'Zel could go alone to fight Vlaakith(The first option you had in front of Orpheus). °You could ask her to stay(The other option you had in front of Orpheus), but after a while in BG, she asks you to join the fight (I reloaded to choose this option, and of course, I joined it). This was the scene you saw due to the bug. And... Some people say that if you give Lae'Zel the Githyankee egg, there is another option or at least another scene (if both stay in BG), but I haven't seen it yet. Well, last but not least, I loved your playthrough I felt so connected with you and the way you think and make decisions. Greetings from Bogotá-Colombia.
This is the first playthrough/reaction on youtube that held my attention all the way to the end. I loved every minute of it. Our playstyles seem to be very similar and I loved how connected you got to the stories and characters; it felt very much like reliving my first playthrough through fresh eyes. I just finished my first run of the game on the sunday before last (14th) and when I say I bawled my eyes out for nearly the full length of the finale ... I think I was even more of a mess then you were, so don't feel bad :P On my run I started out with a casual fling with Lae'zel, though my character ended up resonating with and falling hardcore for Gale so I only got to see her romance up to the night that she comes to fight and test my worthiness. I cried when I couldn't say I was hers in return 😥, but it was nice to see how that would have played out if I had pursued her instead. I am very curious as to what her reaction would have been to the end game choice though, as I did end up deciding to turn into a mind flayer in order to spare Orpheus. For my part, I was soooo against turning into a ghaik just like you were, but the character I generally play when doing an initial run is very much the super empathetic and self-sacrificial-to-a-fault sort; so I ended up making that decision so that Lae'zel and her people could have their rightful leader back. What I didn't expect was how much making that decision affected my experience of the entire end of the game. I felt like I was genuinely grieving my character's loss of herself which added a huge amount of angst/bittersweet-ness to the rest of the run; I felt the weight of the sacrifice so heavily, so I was a mess from that moment all the way to the end just from that alone. Somehow I missed something about Wyll deciding to become the blade of Avernus, so I didn't have the option to send him and Karlach into Avernus together; and since she'd been so adamant about rather dying than returning to the hells, I honored that decision so Karlach ended up dying in my playthrough 😭🤧 It was just all heartwrenching-ness 😫 I am looking forward to trying out other endings, and I have started a Dark Urge playthrough with a Moon Druid named Kai, but I expect I will get even fewer happy ending options in that run :P I am excited to watch whatever playthroughs you have for this game going forward as well
Thank you for sharing you and your character's journey, it sounds both heartbreaking but incredibly moving I've played a couple of games where I had to sacrifice my character by the end, and it's gut wrenching every time
This was an exciting journey! Loved it all the way despite feeling like a thing or two may have been missed! It was a shame that the ending had some bugs in it (patch 4), but I must say that it made me very happy to see that you decided to come back for the epilogue! As for the Dark Urge run, I must say that I'm very excited to see how it goes! Plus I do have to add my hopes of you picking up Minthara as a companion - seeing how after patch 5 you can recruit her without having to go against the tieflings and the Grove (though I'd suggest looking that up a little if you decide to go that way as the method seems to be rather easy to fail despite now being intended). Thanks for the video! Was an awesome journey!
congrats on finishing the game, i loved your playthrough so much!! your emotional insight on all of the companions was so refreshing and i really enjoyed how much you cared for the characters and their stories, especially how u trusted the characters to make their own choices on important decisions my first playthrough i also finished a few weeks before patch 5 came out so i was losing it waiting for the epilogue to come out😭esp since there was a bug for the romanced astarion post-ending conversation not showing up correctly for me along w a few other companion dialogues, it was so satisfying seeing all the companions character development in the epilogue and finally getting some non buggy closure excited for u to try the shadowheart romance! i romanced her on my second playthrough as dark urge and i adore her c,: her character means so much to me n i got so emotional when the epilogue let me hug her HAHA whether u decide to upload your next bg3 playthrough or not ill def be sticking around for any games u decide to play :]
are you planning on playing more games on your channel? your slowly becoming my favorite person to watch literally the only creator that i don't skip through the videos. i would absolutely love to watch you play Telltale's The Walking Dead series or life is strange!!!
I'm actually looking into a couple of different games to hopefully get two game series going at once, though it is a little tough being in college as well. I absolutely love The Walking Dead and life is strange, I've played all of the games in those series! I heard about Telltale's The Explanse, I'm wondering if it's as good as their other stuff
@@CuriouslyKaysorry for throwing games at you but have you played the A Plagues Tale games?!? it’s super underrated and somewhat similar to the walking dead and the last of us!!!!
It has been a treat re-experiencing this game through your playthrough, congratulations! (Do be prepared for the Dark Urge playthrough, it is a whoooole thing.)
ughhh im crying again usually never write long comments like these haha but i loved this playthrough so much... i was first just trying to find a lesbian play through who was romancing one of the female characters but im so glad I found your channel . i honestly feel like your playhtrough is what made this game one of my favorites tbh like i was definitely crying along with you throughout this whole game... and I still can't believe you don't have way more subscribers like the quality and depth of these videos are always so good and your commentary is so nuanced and funny and thoughtful. im so excited to start watching your dark urge playthrough, and i rly hope you might expand to other games when you're finished because id love to see you react to other rpgs and story games !! ive been going through a low point in my life so thank u so much for giving us this series
All's well that ends... not as bad as it could have. Also at 25:00 , the emperor sees it as a personal attack because if you free Orpheus, Orpheus would definitely attack and kill the emperor. There is no possibility they would both work with you. The chance of Orpheus working with you alone after freeing him was already slim as it was. An illithid's most powerful instinct is survival at any cost. They are parasites by their very nature. This is why he has to join the netherbrain when you betray him, he would die to Orpheus if he stuck around. He does not want to join the netherbrain, but in that moment, he sees it as his best chance to survive.
I sat here for so long wondering why I remembered that quote and realized it's from tav lol I definitely think that the Emperor and my Tav were always kinda doomed to be on opposing sides in because of that. I can't see any way that I would be cool with Orpheus dying there, and he couldn't see any future for himself if he stayed with us. I really dig the dynamic though, I did say I like bittersweet endings
Congrats for beating the game! looking forward to finishing the video. Dark Urge next? :D If you pass the DC99 Roll it lowers the final boss health by 10%
Great playthrough. It was interesting to see the different ending you got romancing Lae'zel as a Faerun native. I was playing a githyanki and was given the option to join the githyanki resistance. I said yes. The game ended with Lae'zel and I jumping onto red dragons and flying off to join the rebellion against Vlaakith. In this version, both of you are astral projections at the party six months later.
Oh wow, that sounds like it would make quite a reunion! I wonder why Withers wasn't able to bring Lae'zel or Tav back to Faerun like he did with Karlach and Wyll
Loved watching your playthrough and seeing the different choices. I romanced Karlach and Lazel (instead of Halsin) was kidnapped by Orin pretty early in the third act of my playthrough. I'm in act two of my Durge playthrough and it's tough being evil to all the characters I helped in the first go around.
Just to give you an idea of just how significant the ending of the story really is: the Githyanki were first published in a magazine from 1979. In all that time (44 years!!), the storyline involving Vlaakith and Gith has hardly ever been touched. So, the fact that you have been involved in a MAJOR shakeup of Githyanki culture is no small feat! As someone who's been playing D&D for literally decades, I'm incredibly curious to see whether or not the current designers of D&D take this development and run with it.
That's super cool! It kinda sounds like how comics will go long stretches of time not making any permanent changes, is that how it is for DnD? I'd love being able to take down Vlaakith, but I guess that might be a little out there for Larian to do lol
@@CuriouslyKay Well, the thing about D&D is the lore and the setting is essentially a playground. Players and the dungeon master who play in that playground have the right to manipulate the story and events as they wish. So the stuff with the Githyanki and Vlaakith was left deliberately open ended so that players and storytellers could decide for themselves how they wanted to approach that story.
I seldom finish games, and large-scale games like BG3 are much more problematic. I push everything in the early to mid game to its limits, then start anew to adapt and experience something new. Often results in an unfinished game since time runs out and I'm busy. So I experienced it through your campaign/ ending, which was the only BG3 playthrough I enjoyed - from beginning to end. Am I glad that I stumbled onto this; you made it a fun ride. To keep things short, just some quick thoughts on the end - I can't fathom how dreadful an evil campaign might look in comparison. Or how shocking, heartbreaking, and tragic would it have been if Astarion turned to ash in the end? For a brief moment, I thought they were going there. Same with Karlach, however I believe they added a good ending for her; it was supposed to be a sad ending in the origional version. And I agree with you on the conclusion with Laezal; I believe admiration for someone like her would diminish slightly if she chose to stay instead.
If you wanna be even sadder, astarion goes and huddles behind some boxes after the sun starts to burn him again, I assume he just has to stay there until the sun goes down. 😭😭😭 I’m so sad that we don’t even get a scene where we help shield him even if we’re romancing him. It makes me sad cause everyone else that has issues has someone with them (like Karlach having wyll go with her) but there’s no way my character would have just left him like that, I haven’t finished the game myself, but still 😂😂😂 I am *excited* to see your Durge playthrough!! With the little bit I’ve played of mine it’s gonna be good!!!
I adore lae’zels endings. Even though a lot of people seem to start out disliking her, I liked her right away. I knew that her story was going to be her opening up and learning about the corruption of her people just based off of other characters like her (she’s similar to a paladin that learns their oath/god is actually doing some messed up stuff) and I love those stories. I haven’t personally romanced her yet so I was so happy to find someone that also liked her immediately. I think her story is so sweet and can have such deep meaning for the player if you let it. Also “source of my joy” is such a wonderful name for your SO like come ON 😭😭😭
Congrats on beating this game! Im impressed that you got so much for your first playthrough, I had much less support for mine during the final battle cuz I missed a lot. Though since you like Jaheira so much, I was hoping you went to meet her family in Baldurs Gate before the final battle, its a heartwarming story when you went to meet them with Jaheira. Also, if you brought Jaheira to the final battle, there will be an option to let Jaheira take over the speech in high hall (which is kinda spoiler-y) Overall, you covered a lot for your first playthrough! Well done! :]
I didn't even realize that I could. I genuinely thought they would show up at some point during the long courtyard fight but eventually forgot about them. Definitely using them next time
Karlach can change to a squidhead. It is another way to save her from her heart exploding. Which is what I did on my playthrough romancing Lazel and having Wyll abandon his pact. I didn't want her to be alone in hell.
Congrats on finishing the game! I really enjoyed your choices throughout the game (like with shadownheart with the spear) and your overall commentary. I'm subbing and am looking forward for your next playthroughs (DMC5? Yakuza 0? Mass Effect? Detroit? Anything with a good story will do)!
Thanks so much for the game recs! I haven't played DMC5 or Yakuza 0 and am curious if I need to play the other games in those series to understand them??
Congratulations on finishing the game! Can't wait to see what happens in your Dark Urge campaign. And if you want someone for co-op, feel free to reach out. Although I play the game on PC. But maybe one day cross-platform co-op could come.
I got my first ending with patch4 Gale going me me me me after I bid my heartbroken farewell to Lae'zel. I have never pulled him from the waypoint since. Looking forward to watching your whole series. You got a nice epilogue. Currently I'm in act3 with Origin Lae'zel romanced with Karlach. Should be an interesting end with tough choices.
Ooo the idea of being able to choose independence or going to free your people sounds dope! Especially if it's similar to a regular Tav where you can decide to go with Karlach or not
I'm not ashamed to admit that I've never cried so much as when I was playing this, and just now watching you play it. Samantha Beart, Jennifer English, and Devora Wilde nailed the acting as Karlach, Shadowheart and Lae'zel. I understand your anger at the Emperor, but he wasn't lying. He had to leave the astral prism before you freed Orpheus, because he knew that when you did he would immediately be dominated by the elder brain and attack you on the spot. He was still protecting you for as long as he could. All of those people that think this shouldn't have won GoTY need to go back to playing their Game-boys. There won't be another game this good until BG4, or maybe sooner if Bioware pulls one out of the hat with Dragon Age Dreadwolf. Until then, I have four play throughs that I finished before patch 5, and I have to go back and redo the final battle on all of them after I finish the two I'm playing now 😁
Oh my god I am so excited for Dreadwolf news. While I can see now why he ended up going back with the brain, he most definitely feels like he was manipulating me for nearly the entire time. Might not even be fully his fault though, because he comes across as someone who doesn't understand what a normal trusting friendship should be like (maybe a side effect of being a mindflayer? :P) The voice acting in this game is just AMAZING. The thing that really elevates it for me is how good the facial tracking is; it makes them feel like real people in a way that most games can't replicate (as much as I like the fallout games, they are who I mean with this) Thank you for the comment! The Emperor is one of my favorite characters simply because of how well written he is, and I love getting comments about him
I'm pretty sure you can talk to your companions and get any one of them to transform into the mindflayer. Karlach is usually pretty quick to volunteer, given her infernal engine situation. Overall, there is no "good" or perfect choice to make there. Someone has to sacrifice to save the world.
@@CuriouslyKay Not sure. The video didn't show, but did you talk to each of them individually after Orpheus told you that someone needed to turn into a mindflayer? Just curious, as I know I've had one of my other companions go mindflayer, but every play through is a little different depending on what choices and conversations you have along the way. Hard to say, really.
thank you for taking us along for the ride :) ive been playing my own playthroughs along the way- im midway through my 4th & ive been able to survive getting through my durge/evil runs with a side of kay & lae'zael's beautiful introspective forthright decisions! do you think you'll publish durge?
Thank you! I'm def going to post my durge campaign. Getting to see Shadowheart's romance and finally being able to play more combat now that I know what I'm doing has me HYPE
@@CuriouslyKay looking forward to it!!! im doing shadowhearts romance right now as a cleric of selune and the dialogue is incredible sometimes i cant believe theres so many romance routes
congrats on finishing the story, oh man that moment you had to make the choice on who turns is the same way i felt, i'm curious though, mabye the other companions might have offered to do it if they have already become half-illithid's.
I love the Emperor. He's such a shit. He's fully just dived into "i will never take a single chance with my life if i don't have to". Trust in Ansur? He might kill me, I'd better kill him. Trust Orpheus? Rather take my chances that the Netherbrain is somehow defeated and I am freed. Trust in my ally? If it puts them in a position to make me unnecessary, not on my fucking life. Control, minimize risk, never trust. That's the Emperor, and I love how unreasonable he is.
This is the first time I've seen Yurgir in the speech before the final battle. I didn't know he could be an ally of yours. Unfortunately when I successfully persuaded him to join me, Raphael one-shotted him near the end of the battle
Yurgir was such an unexpected joy in the game. Going from having one of the most unforgettable moments tricking him to him having my back in the end was so much fun
Also in the epilogue should be a post board full of letters from allies who couldn't make it to the party as such Valeria, Nine Fingers, etc.@@CuriouslyKay
The title should've been "all's well that ends-- well, not as bad as it could have"
Fun fact: the Dead Three became gods by making a deal with the original god of murder, death and tyranny, Jergal. You were in one of his abandoned temples super early into Act 1, where you fought some skeletons and opened a sarcophagus to reveal Withers.
Also in the party, there's a chest full of letters from various people in the game. They're very wholesome.
The old bone man had a plan after all
Karlach's flame turns blue when she's happy. When fire turns blue it's said to be the hottest.
I always cry at that scene no matter how many times I see it. Her VA killed it this game. Great first playthrough!
Ah, the blue was a little concerning as I hadn't seen it before, but it looked lovely. Her va was absolutely outstanding, I had tissues prepared because I could just feel that Karlach's ending would break me
Lae’zel and Astarion are two of the only companions that you can only hug if you romanced them and honestly I love it bc it’s in character for them
congratulation for first time completing the game!😝 dark urge/new race/new class for another play-through awaits!
I can’t wait!
It is really cool see that Larian gave us and ending of this characters too.
i've done the epilogue with three different characters and never noticed this 😭
oh my god Im so glad I kept my save file from my finished campaign I have to go back and read those
@@im_azraelle go look and then come back here to tell us about it.
I saw that! I read through all of them, but it took he quite a while so it didn't make the video. One of the best parts of the epilogue!
I love how everyone has the same reaction to Orpheus. The rapid switch from being ready to throw hands to undying respect in five seconds is amazing.
Jaheira's "nature's servant awaits" line is a reference to Baldur's Gate 1. it was a super common phrase for her to say in-game while in your party, as well as Minsc's "go for the eyes, Boo!" 😆
congrats on completing the game! honestly, if you wanted to record a Dark Urge or an evil run (or both) with a new character and class, i'd totally tune in 😅
And thus, Kay's adventure comes to a close. This was beautiful ❤️.
Definitely one hell of a ride
This let's play honestly was one of the best I ever fucking saw like Jesus. The editing makes it so much more entertaining to watch especially for a ADHD person like me. Second you are so fucking funny Like I be laughing out loud to a let's play just like when I was a kid. And every time I saw that you posted I made food and got ready to watch. I'm gonna miss this Serotonin boost but oh well. I'm exited for whatever you make next I can't wait!
Dont know if you saw it, but if you keep the Githyanki egg from the Creche, Lae'zel will raise the egg as her iwn with you. He's named Xan.
With patch 6, you can ride away to the Astral plane with Lae'zel .
Ironically this was the first episode of your playthrough that I was recommended! I finished the game for myself not that long ago and wanted to see other people's reactions to everything that goes down at the end of the story. The good vibes, how engaged you are with the story (+ being a fellow Lae'zel enjoyer 🙏) convinced me to work my way through all of your episodes back to here :) Thanks so much for sharing the journey!
I will definitely be checking out your dark urge playthrough too! Just not until I make some more progress on my own durge run ^^;
Those are the exact two runs I have going right now, and oh man the game lets you be so evil I feel bad playing my evil durge
Resist/redemption dark urge was my favorite also. Many people consider it to be the canon BG3 playthrough.
Thanks for sharing your first playthrough with us! I'll be keeping an eye out in case you do another for that Karlach romance.
act 3 decisions are AGONIZING bro. i had to take a break i was so stressed 😂
Hey Kay I'm not much of a commenter but I'm stepping out of my comfort zone 💪
Thank you for this series, you're genuinely such a delight to watch and I loved watching you experience the game for the first time. It was so refreshing to find someone who really understood each character and their stories so well. I don't think there was a single take of yours that I disagreed with. As a sapphic myself it was also lovely to see my girl Lae'zel get some love. Thank you again I'll be lurking around in the future probably not commenting❤
(I was also wondering if you're cool w me drawing fanart)
Thank you so much for watching! Before uploading I wasn't into commenting like that either, so I take this as a huge compliment!
I absolutely adore Lae'zel so it's been great seeing other people connect with her story, even if it's just through my playthrough
I have absolutely no problem with fanart. Not sure if you post anywhere, but I am on tiktok as well so feel free to tag me so I can check it out!
@@CuriouslyKay I post on insta but I'm sure I'll find a way to get it to u 💪
Had to take a pause on watching until I finished my own playthrough but it was SUCH a treat to watch you finish yours!
As always your commentary is so insightful and your willingness to engage with what the game wants you to feel is amazing. I personally had a few too many issues with how they handled Orpheus to be as emotionally invested, so it was really cool to watch someone who was! (And also someone who cried as much as I did at Karlack’s whole story 😂)
Can’t wait to see what a Dark Urge playthrough looks like! Thanks again for sharing your experience!
I know it sounds terrible, but that thumbnail has me hyped!
I was literally crying yesterday morning while watching your last video and I can't wait to see what choices you made in the end here...
lol I HAD to get me crying in the thumbnail, it was a very emotional end
I was just thinking, we already have a few companions for BG4 if ever. We have Mol and Arabella. Shadowheart could potentially a recurring ally like Jahiera. Who else do you guys think could be potential companions in future releases, if ever?
One of Astarions 'siblings'. Araj. Nocturne.
How about Karlach and Wyll with a part of an Act in Avernus?
Kudos to you for doing the Netherbrain fight without any allies! I had to summon like 10 of them to tank that annoying dragon's fire breath.
EDIT: There seems to be a missing cutscene for Laezel after you convince Orpheus to stay alive. It's so much sadder.
and missed to recruit Mol and Rolan for full?
I recruited Mol and Rolan for the end but City Watch and crew were good distractions.
I was way too attached to my tav to ever have her make that sacrifice though so it was nice knowing Orpheus for the little bit that we did
I find your channel today and I'm loving your videos.❤
Fun lore: Milil is the god of songs and poetry. He got banished by cyric, the god of lies, when he made a ballad mocking cyric.
Also did you noticed he called withers "the scribe" and withers also mocked the 3 gods at the post ending scene? With those clues plus some of the books in game they will tell you who withers really is. It can easily be missed since it so subtle and since youre new to forgotten realms yoy might not know some of the old lore from the books. If you want to avoid reading and want to know just type the word "banana".
I'll be on the lookout for clues in the next run, now that I'm more familiar with the game I'm confident I could get it
@@CuriouslyKay dark urge run would be great. Are you going to do evil durge or good durge? People tend to think durge is always an evil run but i always love resisting the urge. Hope you try a good durge but just different approach from your first run. I tend to do evil playthroughs at my 3rd or 4th runs.
I also hope She will get Minthara in her party in Dark Urge
Oh I noticed your Astarion was a bit bugged during the epilogue. I had the same bug. He just stayed planted in one place, normally he would play with his knives at the table, throw them, steal wine and complain about it haha
And most importantly he would sit down by the fire place on the spot where u let him bite you :')
I have LOVED your playthrough so much, and if you do another playthrough, you have a guaranteed viewer in me!
Oh boy, I loved watching your lets play! Thank you for these beautiful moments of emotion!!! ( I cried at the end too ! )
For your own edification, there are also letters you can find in the epilogue.
Oh I read through those, though it took a while so it didn't make the video. They were all so sweet, definitely the right move for Larian to add those for the characters that weren't at the party
@@CuriouslyKay okay, I'm really glad, and yeah, I was really happy about their inclusion!
I always love seeing people from tiktok make their way over here, idk how many people here have seen both the short form content from tiktok AND the full videos, so it always makes my day
I ADORE leliana. I started with inquisition first, but 100% went back to DAO for her specifically after seeing she wasn't a romance option in that one. Her and the warden getting their happy ending was too good!
I absolutely loved this let's play, thank you for sharing your journey with us! Super excited for the Durge playthrough 💜
Take care! ❤
I was just thinking when your next upload would be up and now I see this! Selune blesses me this day 😂
Hell yeah! This one took a bit longer to edit, so it had to go up today instead of yesterday
Those are nice little parts of the ending too!
there's a secret interaction for a nat 20 on the level 99 check but i had to use an ungodly amount of rerolls to get it 🤭
Milil is modeled after Borislav Slavov, the Composer & Music Director for Baldurs Gate 3. Was a nice touch to add him as Lord of Song, cause he is just brilliant^^
That's some really REALLY great armor you have on your party! 😮
Awesome job, love how your thoughts and emotions add so much to your videos. Can't wait to see what you do next.
If you want to know what the Emperor really is, read the book in his hideout. “Pay attention to its actions, not its words. Where mind flayers are concerned, it is true that actions speak louder than words. Especially words that are tailor-spoken to fit a mind flayers’ manipulative agenda.”
The moment you know this is true is when he tells you he’s still the person he was before he became a mind flayer.
Orpheus knew that the mind flayer he would become was not him, and he could not rely upon it to stay loyal to his people or his intentions.
Loved this whole playthrough. I had so much fun watching you play. Congrats on your first time beating this game. Have fun playing again.
Great video! Awesome reaction and ending.
Congrats. hope you enjoy your next run and the run after that finding all the things that this game has yet to offer.
Yay! Congratulations! And thank you so much for all the hours of entertainment!
Thank you for watching it! So many people have said that about the Dark Urge campaign, so it's really setting the tone for the story
Loved your last video I just finished watching your first play through! Can’t wait for your next dark urge video!! Xx
at the reuinion party there is a chest with a lot of letters from a lot of people you met throughout the game(depending on your choices) like arabella and mol, and the thieves guild and stuff. incase you are wanting to read those
Wooo congrats on finishing the game!
Spoiler.
.
.
.
.
.
I convince Orpheus to keep living and got these options:
°You can go with Lae'Zel and fight together against Vlakith (My first option)
°Lae'Zel could go alone to fight Vlaakith(The first option you had in front of Orpheus).
I loved this playthrough so much! Thank you for this series!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great Playthrough! when the Emperor brought me in the prism I just went straight for Orpheus, didn't even talk to him. He got real mad.
I think I was even more of a mess then you were, so don't feel bad :P
On my run I started out with a casual fling with Lae'zel, though my character ended up resonating with and falling hardcore for Gale so I only got to see her romance up to the night that she comes to fight and test my worthiness.
Somehow I missed something about Wyll deciding to become the blade of Avernus, so I didn't have the option to send him and Karlach into Avernus together; and since she'd been so adamant about rather dying than returning to the hells, I honored that decision so Karlach ended up dying in my playthrough 😭🤧 It was just all heartwrenching-ness 😫
I am looking forward to trying out other endings, and I have started a Dark Urge playthrough with a Moon Druid named Kai, but I expect I will get even fewer happy ending options in that run :P
I am excited to watch whatever playthroughs you have for this game going forward as well
Thank you for sharing you and your character's journey, it sounds both heartbreaking but incredibly moving
I've played a couple of games where I had to sacrifice my character by the end, and it's gut wrenching every time
This was an exciting journey!
Thank you! I've heard a lot about Minthara as a companion, so I can't wait to see how she is. I'll have to make sure I recruit her correctly
congrats on finishing the game, i loved your playthrough so much!! your emotional insight on all of the companions was so refreshing and i really enjoyed how much you cared for the characters and their stories, especially how u trusted the characters to make their own choices on important decisions
my first playthrough i also finished a few weeks before patch 5 came out so i was losing it waiting for the epilogue to come out😭esp since there was a bug for the romanced astarion post-ending conversation not showing up correctly for me along w a few other companion dialogues, it was so satisfying seeing all the companions character development in the epilogue and finally getting some non buggy closure
excited for u to try the shadowheart romance! i romanced her on my second playthrough as dark urge and i adore her c,: her character means so much to me n i got so emotional when the epilogue let me hug her HAHA
whether u decide to upload your next bg3 playthrough or not ill def be sticking around for any games u decide to play :]
Thank you so much! It means a lot to me to have your support
are you planning on playing more games on your channel? your slowly becoming my favorite person to watch literally the only creator that i don't skip through the videos.
i would absolutely love to watch you play Telltale's The Walking Dead series or life is strange!!!
(Do be prepared for the Dark Urge playthrough, it is a whoooole thing.)
ughhh im crying again
usually never write long comments like these haha but i loved this playthrough so much... i was first just trying to find a lesbian play through who was romancing one of the female characters but im so glad I found your channel . i honestly feel like your playhtrough is what made this game one of my favorites tbh like i was definitely crying along with you throughout this whole game... and I still can't believe you don't have way more subscribers like the quality and depth of these videos are always so good and your commentary is so nuanced and funny and thoughtful. im so excited to start watching your dark urge playthrough, and i rly hope you might expand to other games when you're finished because id love to see you react to other rpgs and story games !! ive been going through a low point in my life so thank u so much for giving us this series
I sat here for so long wondering why I remembered that quote and realized it's from tav lol
I definitely think that the Emperor and my Tav were always kinda doomed to be on opposing sides in because of that. I can't see any way that I would be cool with Orpheus dying there, and he couldn't see any future for himself if he stayed with us.
I really dig the dynamic though, I did say I like bittersweet endings
Yess I’ve loved all your playthrough vids
Congrats for beating the game! looking forward to finishing the video.
Dark Urge next? :D
If you pass the DC99 Roll it lowers the final boss health by 10%
Oh that’s interesting, and yeah definitely expect dark urge next
by 25% actually
That sounds heart breaking, even when though it's just a video game I always find the evil decisions to tough
In my first playthrough, Lae'zel was still loyal to Vlaakith, so she was more than happy to allow The Emperor to assimilate Orpheus 🙂.
congrats on finishing the game!! very excited to see you do a dark urge playthrough!
Hell yeah, me too!
It makes me sad cause everyone else that has issues has someone with them (like Karlach having wyll go with her) but there’s no way my character would have just left him like that, I haven’t finished the game myself, but still 😂😂😂
I am *excited* to see your Durge playthrough!!
Also, if you brought Jaheira to the final battle, there will be an option to let Jaheira take over the speech in high hall (which is kinda spoiler-y)
Overall, you covered a lot for your first playthrough! Well done! :]
I saw way later that I could've gone to her house, I thought recruiting minsc was her only storyline in act 3 so I need to check that out next time!
Woohoo! End of a journey!
You may want to replay some of the final fights and summon the allies, just to see what they do. They’re very helpful.
I didn't even realize that I could. I genuinely thought they would show up at some point during the long courtyard fight but eventually forgot about them. Definitely using them next time
Congrats on beating bg3 for the first time. ive loved watching your playthrough cant wait for a dark urge one! :]
Oh yeah, now that I've seen this ending I'm very hype for how dark urge changes the endings
Karlach can change to a squidhead. It is another way to save her from her heart exploding. Which is what I did on my playthrough romancing Lazel and having Wyll abandon his pact. I didn't want her to be alone in hell.
congrats on finishing! And you didnt use any allies, and you had so many, haha!
Eiiii congrats on beating the game. Plus points for not calling or summoning any helps from any of your allies
Thank you! I forgot about them so easily, they would've made it way easier too. Def gotta use them in the next run
What a chaotic final boss fight. But you did it 😂
I got my first ending with patch4 Gale going me me me me after I bid my heartbroken farewell to Lae'zel.
Especially if it's similar to a regular Tav where you can decide to go with Karlach or not
Good thing the newest update lets you go with Lae’zel to fight
The voice acting in this game is just AMAZING. The thing that really elevates it for me is how good the facial tracking is; it makes them feel like real people in a way that most games can't replicate (as much as I like the fallout games, they are who I mean with this)
Thank you for the comment! The Emperor is one of my favorite characters simply because of how well written he is, and I love getting comments about him
When I found out Laezel finally got her red dragon(s) I damn near cried bro 😭
I like how you ignore that the emperor was right about his plan that only an illithid could beat the netherbrain. Shoulda trusted him. Lol
My first run was a dark urge and I turned into a mind flayer on top of that.
The epilogue was… interesting 😂
2:25:13 laezel tripped and fell at the background hahahaha
I'm pretty sure you can talk to your companions and get any one of them to transform into the mindflayer. Karlach is usually pretty quick to volunteer, given her infernal engine situation. Overall, there is no "good" or perfect choice to make there. Someone has to sacrifice to save the world.
She weirdly didn't have any dialogue offering to become a mindflayer, though I was playing an older version of the game so it might've been a bug
Tara is actually in the game. Youll need to look for her in the next playthrough.
Oh for sure. There was a lot of specifically Act 3 I missed, so I can't wait to go back and find what I missed in the rest of the game as well
in my save i did karlach became a mind flayer, saving the prince and saving her... kinda...
thank you for taking us along for the ride :) ive been playing my own playthroughs along the way- im midway through my 4th & ive been able to survive getting through my durge/evil runs with a side of kay & lae'zael's beautiful introspective forthright decisions! do you think you'll publish durge?
I didn't even think about how that would change it, I'm curious too
@@CuriouslyKay i'm not quite sure if it does, since i loath the idea of turning illithid, then again there is also gale & his orb.
Also in the epilogue should be a post board full of letters from allies who couldn't make it to the party as such Valeria, Nine Fingers, etc.@@CuriouslyKay
you can send one of your companions to talk to Orpheous and they will become a mind flayer. I chose Karlach since she's basically screwed anyway ^^
