Does someone else feel like Kiragi is the true parent here? He realized that his father was feeling inadequate because Takumi felt inferior in skill to his own son and wasn't able to deak with it well. And in order to make his father self-confident again, he played up his own inability to shoot the Fujin Yumi (which his father thinks is the only thing that makes him appear strong, but could as easily make anyone else just as strong) so his father felt that he had skill besides his weapon.
