"I think by them just trying to bypass our negotiating team that seems to be kind of shady there. Right? Because, I mean, we do have people that's in place to negotiate for us as well. And so that way they can kind of go over those things. But that that itself I mean, you know, in the sense of not respecting our our negotiating team to do that and bypass them and trying to get directly to the members, that's not how it should be done, right?"

4. SOUNDBITE (English) John Reifel, Boeing worker:
"That's cowardly. That's just the corporation playing games. You know, it was pretty shocking to see it on the news myself. And we had received nothing from the union yet. So it's just another game. I'll leave it at that.”

6. SOUNDBITE (English) John Reifel, Boeing worker:
"I'm not going to think about anything on the word of mouth or on a handshake. We want it in writing. We need to review it because something that's not talked about is all the fine print. Right? We need to look at what's been scratched out or what's been changed. It's all there. But when they just throw out that this what might look good to the public, you know, just to try to make us look like we're greedy when we're not we're not greedy. Yeah, we, I have quite a unique occupation here. There's nothing like it. So we just want to be compensated fairly."

8. SOUNDBITE (English) John Reifel, Boeing worker:
"And we're not just what people might think are machinists standing in front of a machine letting a computer do the work for us. It's not like that. We've got a large group of brothers and sisters from maintaining facilities so that we can do the work to people who who put together the parts pre-assembled form, make them available for the mechanics to put them in there to quality to those on the flight line that make sure that that airplane is ready to fly off in its first flight 100% perfect every time."

STORYLINE:
Boeing is giving the union representing striking factory workers more time to consider a revised contract offer with bigger pay increases and more bonus money, but it was unclear Tuesday whether the union would schedule a ratification vote on the proposal.
On picket lines in the Pacific Northwest, strikers said the company’s latest contract proposal isn’t good enough.
And both the union and many of its members complained about the way Boeing bypassed the union in publicizing the offer. Some workers said it was an unfair attempt to make them look greedy.
“By them just trying to bypass our negotiating team, that seems to be kind of shady there,” John Lentz, a striking Boeing worker said. “We do have people that are in place to negotiate for us.”
Boeing's new “best and final” offer includes pay raises of 30% over four years, up from 25% in a deal that 33,000 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers overwhelmingly rejected when they voted to strike.
In the face of opposition from the union, Boeing backed down from a demand that workers vote on the new offer by Friday night, but the company still wants a vote.
“This strike is affecting our team and our communities, and we believe our employees should have the opportunity to vote on our offer that makes significant improvements in wages and benefits,” the company said in a statement.

Bypassing the negotiation team is unfair labor practice in a just world.
Move to SC to avoid all of these lazy workers. They make $100k without degree. Lazy and abusive to milk OT. I deal with 787 folks in SC. They are a lot more productive than people here. And what these people said years before: sc didnt have skill and resource to do 787 work. Now 787 is gone. Max is so bad that boeing will stop it soon too.The future of boeing is gone from now on
Bro. They fly your planes from SC to Everett for us to make right. Along with multiple customers refusing to take planes from SC. Which is why Everett is FILLED with 787s. STFU.
You sound like a salary dope that has absolutely ZERO interaction with production besides a god damn PowerPoint lol shut your bitch ass up
They keep deleting what I'm saying but you have no idea what your talking about lol SC is less than a JV team
Lol but Boeing flys the 787 to Everett after it leaves SC to fix all the screw ups. The factory is still full of SC built 787s being reworked. What does that mean?
Happens to me too.
RUclips editors only want what they like posted sometimes.
Dont make too strong of a point or

IAM defined pension plan.
Fair to ask for raising wage but not for pension. Please not fall short in the unrealistic expectation - pension never succesful get back by strike. The aging society is real and people need to adapt with self responding retirement plan. We are not in the era that life expectency 60 with 6 children anymore.
That what you think.
@@mdog6726 Let's set the union vote - I wonder how many percentage are willing to be scarified their career for unsustainable pension.
@@PatamaGomutbutra they’ll never get the pension back. 0% chance of that. Like I said the union fell asleep for 16 years.
Yes. I heard people around me who work in Boeing that pension is impossible before the strike but they vote for better wage and medical benefits. Despite union stike every 4 years , it could not save the pension anyway- nothing to guilt or blame.
@@PatamaGomutbutra we haven't a had a strike in 16 years and the negotiation where the pension was lost was out of nowhere when all the senior people are known to be out of the rainy state of Washington, Boeing is smart, they hired a bunch of people of certain demographics that are known to cave right before the vote and then laid them off right after.
Union is unwilling to negotiate at all. They won't budge an inch that is why boeing went to the members.
@@chrisevenson9454 totally backwards
@@lowriderchev64 boeing has gone up on their offer what has the union done as a counter offer? Nothing.
The new members are stronger than the old timers. Big props to them for staying strong. 75% of our members have less than 6 years, proud of all of them. They will continue to give boeing hell for decades to come!
@BerkshireB Been there, and done that is why.
They have a good chance to be laid off the first year of the new contract.
You are being greedy. Just take the 30% so that we can go back to work.
Get a part time job buddy. Otherwise take it up with Boeing for a low balling the workers. Minimum wage is up three times as much 300% since 2008, so is bread and gas..... employees asking for the 40% raise is fair
The union fell asleep for 16 years?
@@mdog6726 ummm yeah, sure buddy 👍🏾
@@lowriderchev64 Why would I take it up with Boeing? This is a great contract offer and I was getting great pay and benefits even before the offer. It's my coworkers that are out of touch with reality and refusing to go back to work that is the issue here. I have nothing against Boeing, they have treated me well. You are crazy if you think you are getting 40% and your pensions back.
Sounds like you should find another job
