Hello! This video is a reupload of one that came out of the weekend...but seemed to have rendered weirdly so stated halfway though and had 10 minutes of blank screens.
I was away over the weekend so it has been up a while by the time I was alerted to it! So if you did watch the original, thank you for watching this one again (kind of...)

It’s because of how the save was set up. Watch Second Yellow Cards database setup. You need the countries to load players by setting it up at the start. Countries aren’t loading regens so the youth rating is genuinely irrelevant

Even a super computer couldn't load all players from all countries on a long save

The best way to really increase a nation's player quality is by simply increasing their facilities and youth rating, then making the league playable. I noticed this mid save when I decided to add the North Korean league. I set it to 200, and by 2026 wonderkids led North Korea to World Cup Glory, reputation of individual clubs helped in terms of which teams got the slightly better players but yeah

Could also be interesting to only change the youth ratings and keep everything else the same and check how the youth ratings develops and how much its effected by all the other stuff.

I think your point about population is right. If Oman (population 4.8M) has a better youth rating (and other attributes) than Brazil (population 211M), Brazil is still going to produce better players on aggregate, because they have so many more possible players. I think this is why you see countries like the DRC, China, and USA going well in this world - if every country has 1 youth rating, the bigger countries are going to do well.
The problem for Andorra/Liechtenstein/San Marino isn't that people there don't care about football, or that they have no facilities - it's that no one lives there. The medium-sized countries have good clubs there (but outside the 1000 in the world) who develop players well.

It seems as if it was based on reputation of the clubs. Maybe looking at the best players in the world and at what clubs they generated could be useful.

Perhaps try this experiment again, this time set all reputation for every single team in the game to the same amount (say 4000 for example), while keeping the youth level at 1 and see if anything changes.

Competition reputation may also matter. It will make the club reputation change

@@ngyuishing indeed, however setting the competition reputation the same is for another video.

    My theory:
Better nations have better stadiums so more people coming to the games so the teams get more money which they can invest un there youth

A country like Oman (in a normal game) NEVER actually produces ANY youth players at all, making the rating pointless.
If Brazil produces 5 youth players at youth rating 50 and Oman produces 0 players at youth rating 200, then Brazil will be better than Oman every time.

Does the game know what leagues are playable and default toward them being more likely to grow?
