Ronnie giving it to us straight from the heart, this always had the most melancholy feeling that I'm sure the majority of us understand all to well!
And let's not forget Billy Powell and his tremendous keys on so many of their songs... Roadie promoted to band member!!
Yes yes when they brought him on board the songs where they feature him tickling those ivories (ie free bird) rely kicked it up a notch and might add brought some class to their music.
So many iconic songs in such a short time. This was my favorite until I heard............The Ballad of Curtis Loew. This band will live in music history forever.
,,,,until I heard Call Me the Breeze,,,,,until I heard,,,,,💥💥💥👍
My aunt introduced me to them when I was 6 years old. That was in '76. Now, she wants me to play this at her funeral. Real life
Forby Leonard Skinner (January 11, 1933 - September 20, 2010) was an American high school gym teacher, basketball coach, and businessman from Jacksonville, Florida. He is known in popular culture as the eponym of the rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd; Skinner was the band members' teacher.
What a tribute to the music teacher! ❤
@@syvsinger1lmao, no he wasn’t their music teacher. He was a gym teacher who hated their long hair and said they’d never amount to anything. They names their band that in spite of him.

@Nathan-oo2ik That's a lie!
Sometimes my heart breaks thinking of the tragedy of that plane crash cutting their creative lives short. I’m typing this with tears in my eyes. Great reaction guys. Peace
Can you imagine being in the other plane watching your friends and fellow bandmate crash. The survivors guilt must have been strong
@@davidtullis2810 They were all on a single plane. Ronnie was laying on the floor, sleeping when the trees scraped across the bottom. The 20 survivors had some seriously bad injuries, such as Billy Powell's nose was sheared off and had to be reattached. Allen suffered injured discs and his right hand took a beating. Artimus Pyle probably had the less injuries and was able to walk from the rural crash site to find help. The others couldn't walk. There's a documentary here on RUclips any Lynyrd Skynyrd fan might appreciate.

What other plane?@@davidtullis2810
One of those debut albums that changes things.
Thank you kindly for a Lynyrd Skynyrd reaction.
One of my favorites, great song to reflect on
Lynyrd Skynyrd doing a little Southern Blues. Good stuff on a Saturday morning. Ronnie had an excellent vocal range. Thanks guys.
The fact LS has been gone over 50yrs and are still on the top of many’s playlist is a testament to their powerful lyrics, incredible base and guitar wars and RVZ incredible southern voice. The band of my youth and one of my favorites.
Thank you brothers for this.
Imagine being at a Skynyrd concert in the 1970's listening to song after song of the greatest music ever, Southern Rock! Miss those days!
Listening to Ronnie 's words and voice is like being with a friend you know your whole life every song goes right to your heart and soul love your reaction you just heard greatness
Lynyrd Skynyrd America's best Rock n Roll band!
such a bittersweet and beautiful song, great reaction guys.
The greatest band ever
skynyrd always brings a tear as i sip a whiskey.
You two are so cute! Your heads are bopping the same through the whole song. Lol ❤️
This song has always made me cry. The sadness and longing portrayed is incredible 🧡
The instrument that sounded like violins is a Mellotron. An analog keyboard with pre-recorded tape reels of string sections, flutes, brass, and woodwinds under every key, an instrument highly associated with 70's progressive rock.
Unforgettable Southern rock....sung by the best.
Love this song
We missed out on the rest of this bands life. Would have been a player for a long time. Brst southern band ever.
Skynyrd was so damn talented! Such a shame to have lost those band members so early on in their ascension to the top. I still consider Skynyrd to be the best southern rock band ever.
The riff that got me to buy my first electric guitar around 20 years ago after hearing the song at the end of Happy Gilmore movie.
I heard that riff and I was done.
I really was broken-up-with to this song.
Still love it.💜
Recording was done at Muscle Shoals. Some crazy stories about those early sessions from there first album “Pronounced”
Piano solo and that mother fucking guitar outro. These cats were the beatles of southern rock
Their live album One More from the Road was one of the first 5 albums I bought, about 40 years ago.
My favorite song by Lynyrd Skynyrd is Simple Man followed by in no particular order Free Bird, Tuesday’s Gone, Call Me The Breeze and The Ballad of Curtis Lowe. I was lucky enough to see them three times before the plane crash with the first being at The Tennessee State Fair in 1974 in Nashville while I was stationed at Ff. Campbell, Kentucky. Skynyrd played first then ZZTop and it was a rockin good time and in my humble opinion Lynyrd Skynyrd stole the show.
You need to listen to Tuesday Gone AND TRAVELING MAN from live from fox theatre "ONE MORE FROM THE ROAD", GREAT
Beautiful orchestration in this one
love billy powell's piano solo in this tune.... Hell Yeah Y'all
Pretty sure they played this in happy Gilmore also. You hear these good songs all over the place and some people have no idea who it is. It was also in dazed and confused I believe.
Yeah, it made me think of Dazed and Confused. I forgot it was in Happy Gilmore, but you're right.
One of my all time favorite skynyrd tunes.
Ya'll are cookin with RnB today ... then my eyes look up to see Grand Funk "Closer to Home" -- be still my heart! ❤ Happy New Year My Friends!! 😊
Lengendary. Timeless.
It’s just awesome! Always has been always will be.
Their first album! The whole thing is fire!
Saw them twice 76, and 77. Always great. Still in my top 5 favorite bands.
In my top 5 as well.
Another band that you guys could do every album from beginning to end. They were such a great band
This first album is so strong. And my 1st concert were these guys in '76. Bullets tour. We miss you Ronny.😞
La and Che... You are ending the year with a bang. Excellent reaction fellas!!!
Thanks my friend!! Happy New year to you!!
@AirplayBeats And you as well my friends. And Happy New Year those thatwatching and listening to best in the business. La and Che!!!!!
The Greatest Southern Rock band ever!
No doubt.
Hey great song and great choice very underrated song
Southern Rock at its Best 🍻
Never gets tired!
This tune, "On The Hunt" and the "Ballad of Curtis Loew", have always been my top 3 LS songs.
All time classic!
Oh hell yeah! Grand Funk's "Closer to Home" album top and center behind the guys...
Bought that GFR album when I was 15, still play now at 64!!! The best one of theirs, in my opinion and I have them all. Still my favorite band.
This song features the great Robert Nix on drums. He was the drummer for Atlanta Rhythm Section, and Roy Orbison’s Candymen. I was lucky enough to hang out with him several times. Friend of a friend.
Such a great song...!
Lynyrd skynyrd was a tight musical band on point each and every time without fail. So glad I got to see them in June of 1977 a concert I'll never ever forget rest in peace lynyrd skynyrd ❤
Was that the Day on the Green in Oakland CA. ?
@joegreen925 no it was in July . It was buffalo in June.
You can make a list of songs from this band and just randomly put your finger on any song and people will like it or you will be able to relate to it in some way Ronnie was one of the best songs writers in rock Some of their best songs they have Trust,All I Can Do Is Right It In A Song,Am I Losing,Down South Jukin and One More Time and the list goes on and on To me this is the best rock band to ever play music If Ronnie had not passed away in the plane crash They would no doubt be the greatest rock band in history These knew how to make great music I offen wonder about the music we never got to hear from this legendary band
Always misty eyed when listening to this. Beautiful.
Happy Gilmore
Love this song. ! Absolute classic. Played at end of Happy Gilmore. Lol
Hard to beat,,,,southern blues. 💥💥💥👍😎
I love y’all boys so much. Understatement
At this point in my advanced age, I can only hear from one ear and I have to use earbuds to hear at all and still, even hearing just one channel, it's like layer upon layer of musical goodness. I don't know how they managed so much complexity. Great reaction as always guys!
Well done y'all! Y'all nailed it!
I love this musical journey for you guys. ❤❤❤
Love this band. Seen them in concert several times. You should check out The Ballad of Curtis Loew by them
you guys are great, all types of music for young and old. keep up the good work.
They are such a phenomenal band with so much talent & such a deep catalogue. So much more than just Free Bird & Sweet Home Alabama (both of which I absolutely love). Thanks for continuing with them..keep on going!
How I love your reactions, mostly because you know music and know what you're talking about. Best music reactions channel around, and I watch a lot of them.
Thanks for rocking with us!!
Agree
The drummer on this song was Robert Nix (the drummer for Atlanta Rhythm Section, another great Southern Rock band).
live version ////// kills it
Lynyrd skynyrd my favorite all time band. I have every album from the real and original skynyrd band The original and the best
Beauty!!!
This song will always remind me of parties ending at the moon tower. Heading to the 50 yard line. ;)
I remember in junior high I had this album well in fact I had all of their albums plus the Muscle Shoals recordings early on, but like a lot of kids that era of my life was the best of times and the worst of times, and when it was the worst of times, this was one of those songs that could actually make me feel somehow even though I was experiencing all the pain and the regret and the heartache expressed in his voice and in the overall arrangement, but it still rocked enough for a ballad that it kept me glued to it on that level as well. It evokes so many emotions!
The Ballad Of Curtis Loew, if you haven't already done it. Also I bet you guys would love Railroad Song.
great reaction guys. That song can bring tears to the eyes...Real honest emotion in that one.
Hello La & Che, I'd like to suggest another artist that was an incredibly gifted storyteller, if interested. "You Don't Mess Around With Jim by Jim Croce on the Dick Cavett Show" (by the channel: upperdarbybill) This is a taped performance on a tv show that was very popular during this period. Maury Muehleisen on second acoustic performed with Croce during this performance.
--James Joseph Croce was an American folk-rock singer, songwriter and guitarist. Who was very popular during the late 60's and early 70's. He released five studio albums and numerous singles during his short career. Sadly, we lost Jim Croce and five others in a plane crash in 1973. A single-engine plane in which he and five others were riding, hit a tree on takeoff. RIP: Jim Croce 💔
🔥U R Missed
But he left some beautiful tunes to remember him by and we are very grateful.
🙏
Ronnie song about his first marriage ending in divorce which was final on a Tuesday it worked on him for years they married at a young age, interesting facts the drummer was Robert Nix from the band Atlanta Rhythm Section bass player and background vocals was their producer Al Kooper on this song… gotta listen to their Live album’ One more from the road’ Live at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta the song T for Texas T for Tennessee oh my it’ll make the dead get up and bust a groove
Glad you guys did this one, one of my favorites. Saw them before the plane crash. Ballad of Curtis Loew is a good one to listen too!
I’ve been privileged enough to see Skynyrd three or four times! Never with their original band members but still always a blast! Skynyrd and Hank Junior! That was a good time, legend Valley!
Now ya gotta watch Dazed and Confused. Great movie!!
Awesome song to play live, the guitar bends etc are great
Last call at the Shilo Lounge in Northport Alabama ,bottoms-up !
Rossington’s slide always gets me in this one. This, simple man and every mother’s son are some of my favorite Ronnie vocal songs!!!
He’s not playing slide on this, but point taken. It does sound like slide sometimes the way he bends.
@@GoldTop57wow, what tone and fuzz then. More props to him then. Thanks for the “correct” 🙏🏻
Next movie you do should be Dazed and Confused....! Lots of great music, and 70's nostalgia.
You guys should check out their Demo version of this song. I hope you all are having a great New Year so far. -Amber
They were the best!
Great song from a great album. The orchestral sounds were from a Mellotron. The drummer on this song was not the regular drummer Bob Burns, it was the drummer from the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Robert Nix.
Glad yall are on the journey, you have barely scratched the surface just remember skynyrd was a live band,I know yall like the studio stuff that's cool but to really understand how great skynyrd was listening live is mandatory
Check out Lynyrd Skynyrd "T for Texas" from Wintergarden 1976 for some real clean guitar work....
Coming Home is one y’all to get around to doing gonna like this one
Anthemic and Epic
Thank you for another great one guys‼️
y'all should finish this album!!
Wow, I have not heard this in a while.
Seen them in Greeville S.C. a day or two before plane crash was in shock when heard about crash great concert Ted Nugent opening act
Another great choice, so glad you reviewed this. Always appreciate when a band employs anything from an orchestra - violin, horns, flute, sax. And of course piano. Takes it all to a whole new level. As far as a song that tells a story, you should listen to Ballad of Curtis Loew. I love how real and down to earth this band was. Well the original band anyway. No offense to the later members but it just wasn't the same after they lost the original cast. Happy Holidays, gents.
suggestion: "T for Texas 1976" One more from the road album.
"You goth that right 1977 live convention hall".
Must hear T for Texas
There's always a train involved 😂
Railroad Song from Nuthin’ Fancy is 🔥!
Lynyrd Skynyrd does this for EVERY song. You gotta understand!
These guys were just flat out something else. Whatever sound your looking for, they have it, rock, soulful blues, jazz (I know A Little). You name it.
Guitar Army right there Bro. 😎
