“I Need You” ,in my opinion, is one of Skynard’s best and most underrated songs.. When I hear “That Smell” all I can think about is in Forrest Gump when Jenny was in that hotel room with her face all sunk in and her nearly falling off the ledge of the balcony.

Lord have mercy, I'm from the south... Tennessee, and let's put it this way, if someone says they don't like Skynyrd.. it's blasphemy! I'm 54, I'm grew up with that band.. and gosh when that plane crash happened it was unreal sadness 😭. The Tribute Tour they did in the 80s with his brother and remaining members, was the most awesome concert. You had bikers, older people, my age, kids I mean all color of people and honestly so many times there wasn't a dry eye in the house!! Especially when they put his hat on a mic stand and played Freebird with home videos of the band playing on big screen behind it. SOBBING crying!!!

    • @Tuesdays_Gone

I was at the Tribute concert in Atlanta, 1987. It was very emotional, and Johnny Van Zant just put his brother, Ronnie’s hat on the microphone and wouldn’t even sing the lyrics to Free Bird.
Then when Allen Collins’ father brought him on stage in the wheelchair and he spoke to us, everybody was crying. It was very, very emotional.

On October 20, 1977 during a flight from Greenville, South Carolina, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s tour plane crashed in a heavily wooded area of southeastern Mississippi during a failed emergency landing attempt, killing band-members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines as well as the band’s assistant road manager and the plane’s pilot and co-pilot. Twenty others survived the crash. There is a documentary about this tragedy, the band couldn't play for a long time and really struggled on whether they should or not with the loss of the others.

70's had so much great rock & roll. I was a 90's kid and rock music in that decade blew up through the stratosphere and beyond, but I might still have to give a slight edge to the 70's because there was so much damn great music, plus they were allowed to have long ass, true instrumental solos in their songs and their songs were allowed to be over 4 minutes long... Plus they were the pioneers of rock as we know it today (althogh jazz and blues musicians from even earlier decades are arguably the original pioneers of rock & roll in general).

My fav LS song. Beautiful and hauntingly melancholic sound and that guitar is so powerfully felt with somber feeling. Thanks for the reaction. But you had it backwards, she's not leaving; he is.
It is my understanding that "Tuesday" represents the last day of the band's weekend to spend at home or with their woman either their significant other or 1 night stand. On Wednesday they have to head back out on the road for their shows on thurs, fri, sat nights; before heading home Sunday morning.
It's also theorized that "Tuesday" is the name of the girl they are leaving behind. But the previous one IMO makes more sense with the context.

Good ol' '70's Southern Rock. 'Freebird' and 'Sweet Home Alabama' are the biggest hits. But, I really love 'Simple Man' and 'Gimme Three Steps'

Tuesday was singer Ronnie’s girl. Ronnie (RIP) always wrote of real life events. Please react to The Ballad of Curtis Lowe! Its an amazing story from his childhood.

This is totally marvelous! I can't really see Half's facial expressions as much, in reaction to the musical notes, delicate play of the instruments, and the tender, heartbreaking lyrics, but I can see Jai's subtle facial movements and body language full on - and you can see she's really with it, she'll really feeling it. Totally precious guys! It made me really feel it too, the pain, the heartbreak, in harmonic resonance with the two of you!

My Dad always said "Tuesday" is his girlfriends name. Like "Wednesday from Addams Family" IDK that's how My Dad explained it to Me. I also had a friend named ART, named after Artimus Pyle, the drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd, his Dad was the backup drummer for the band & a Roadie. Nice Guy @Half And Jai

Tuesday was also the name of the woman . It's subtle in the lyrics , but she broke up with him .
" Tuesday's Gone " refers both to her leaving him , and that she's back in their hometown , when his pain drove him to hop a train out of town to start over with out having to deal with being in proximity to the woman he still loves , but can't be with .
