Skynyrd's guitar army could play off of each other like no one else. They just passed the lead from one to another, plus Ronnies vocals and the piano solos from Billie.

They were from here in Jacksonville Florida and I visit the graves every chance I get. Very serene. They were raised just up the road from me. Their high-school coach was always on their ass about their hair and dress code. His name was Leonard Skinner. That's who they named the band after. Odd, he's buried not far from their graves. Sad day for Jacksonville Florida that day in 1977.

Spring of '74 I was finishing my sophomore year of high school, my older brother arrived home after 2+ years in the Mediterranean with the Navy's 7th Fleet. This was one of the albums he brought home to the tiny village that we'd moved to while he was in the Navy. By then, I'd heard of this band, as their song Sweet Home Alabama was all over am radio and small town juke boxes. This album, however, was a revelation to me. Every damn song on this album is good enough to be a best song on anyone else's album, and I discovered it at the same time I was discovering The Charlie Daniels Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, The Allman Brothers Band, and another band out of Florida called The Outlaws. It was my year of southern rock and blues, and it completely altered the direction of my musical interests going into young adulthood.

Excellent reaction. I went with you. This is a BEAUTIFUL song. Imagine being young, full of pain and this song comes on. It's healing. Our songs were healing. I don't know why. Didn't really realize it then. I knew we were hearing some great music and this came out when I was young but the energy reached gen x and then we carried it to the millennials and still crank it in our cars today. The world has lost some very talented and passionate artists. When the instruments sing on their own, all bands back then were like that and could sync immediately. I think it's because times were simple and people were friends and we became their friends too. Love was at each concert.

Keep heading down that rabbit hole brother... This was my band in the 70's along with Led Zeppelin. I went into a depressed state when the plane crashed and Ronnie, Steve & Cassie were killed. Street survivors had just come out with fire surrounding them which some said was a premonition. Regardless we lost one of the greatest southern rock bands of the times. Rossington Collins band followed with Gary Rossington & Allen Collins with Gary's wife singing . Another great band but short lived. Check them out as well... ✌️

Skynyrd never disappointed, especially live (One More From the Road recorded at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta). I saw them many times, and they were truly a hard act to follow. If you'd like to know about their roots, check out the the Ballad of Curtis Loew.... "He looked to be 60, maybe I was 10; Mama used to whoop me but I'd go see him again. I'd clap my hands, stomp my feets, try to stay in time. He'd play me a song or two, then take another drink of wine." THIS should be your next reaction.

What you heard here is the original band in the studio. When you find the live version, you'll likely find some videos from concerts after the plane crash, so as a reactor, you will likely notice how they kept the integrity of the music and their tunes and kept the spirit of their songs essentially in tact - the other word I might use to describe this effect and their music - timeless.

The main riff just feels so damn good. And just when that great piano solo makes you forget about the main guitar riff, it smoothly slides back in right after the piano solo and punches you in the gut.. It's so good.

Hey my brother, it is so satisfying to see some people reacting to the music I grew up listening to. But that's not a good description for such a simple act, because...there's so much more to it. It's primarily dependent on who...is the one listening to the music. People are very different, and the ability to recognize different levels of skill of the musicians and the mastership of song writing, structure, and effect.
Some people just can't recognize very special aspects, or relate their reactions or explain, what it was specifically...that they felt about the song and their feelings received from it.
But, I enjoy your reactions...and it's funny because, I already know about all skynyrd songs, but it's so satisfying to watch someone realize the special aspects of each and every song!
But the thing that is so enjoyable about watching someone go through the skynyrd library, is that almost every song has it's own particular greatness, and you can go from one to the other feeling that THAT one was my favorite! Each time, feeling like, nope...'that' one is my favorite!!
You have soooo many songs to hear by them still, it's amazing! But if I may, I'd like to recommend one. Whether or not you respond to my recommendation, remains to be seen. But, you never know!
So, "call me the breeze" is the one I recommend.
How ever, any way you go on the skynyrd rabbit hole, your going to be rewarded!
    Peace my brother!!
    Michael Kane

Fucking great reaction, man. This song moves me. I haven't done any research, but I think "Tuesday" is his girl. Brings a whole new dynamic to the song.

Everyone raves about the Allman Brothers as being the best southern rock group but I will take Lynyrd Skynyrd over them every time.
