When I worked at a ski shop/demo centre, pre covid, the Head Total Joy was our most popular woman's ski. IMO, this was in a large part due to the Total Joy appealing to a wide range of skier abilities. I even put teenage boys and light weight little old men on the ski with zero complaints. When I demoed the Total Joy, I thought with my 210lb weight, I would overpower the ski, but I did not.

Very nice and thorough review. My wife started with the Absolut Joy 2 years ago. She needs a second ski because we ski so much. Got her a Super Joy to compliment the Absolut. I will definitely get her this Total Joy if things work out this year. She doesn't believe it but she needs another ski. Thanks for the info.

How do the different Joy skiis compare to each other? I'm an intermediate skier, just shy of 5'0, 108 lbs. I've been skiing on a Nordica Belle to Belle.

It is a complete collection ranging from the expert Power Joy to entry level models. The Total Joy would be where we would start coming from the Belle to Belle.

Hi. I've been skiing the Head Super Joy for 4 years (2020 version). Love them, but they started delaminating and now I am wanting to buy the new Super Joy (2024 or wait for the 2025). But I am affraid it will be much different to what I am used to. It was such a perfect ski, light, nice pop in transition. I'm short and 115 lbs, 60 y. And I ski on the East coast so groomers, ice, and a bit of ciment powder. Will I notice a big difference between the old and new model? Are they stiffer, less forgiving? Thanks.

Yes they are indeed different but noticably easier without losing the performance that attracted you to the Joy series in the first place.

I just started skiing on "new" Total Joys (2019 version). I am an advanced skiier...and although I have only skiied on them for about 3 days, I do not like them. The shovel is too wide. Also, I think I purchased them too short. I am 5'4" (about 160 cm) and my skis are 163 cm. I MISS my long skinny Rossignol downhill skies. I have been skiing since I was a very young child...and am still a fairly advanced skiier. Really do NOT like the Total Joys. Too light, too short, and shovel tip is too wide. Tails of skis too short. Wish somebody would suggest a better ski for me. I am so frustrated!~!!

I am an ex-ski racer. But I am now in my sixties. I am 5'4" tall and about 109 pounds. People tell me I ski pretty fast. Usually at Crystal Mt., Washington. Any suggestions?? I do NOT have time to do indepth research. I demo-ed some skis in Europe and decided I HATE "short" skies--anything below my head makes me feel like I am skiing on teacup saucers. I like short poles, and tend to ski in a low, very bended knees position. Anybody??? I do NOT mind buying vintage skies. I do NOT like the tip profile of the white w/turqoise Total Joys. Super frustrated with them!!

Hi Pamela. Tricia here. The construction changed for the 2023-24 season which is much calmer and solid feeling on snow. However, given your history, and your experience I think you'd likely be happier on the Power Joy. I have been skiing the 163 but prefer the next size up myself and I'm 5'5" 140 lbs
