- Thought I would do up a couple of Matchbox Lesney racing cars. They turned out pretty nice. I could not do one without the other as they were bought as a pair and have probably been together for the last 50 years or so!

What a gorgeous Jim Clark era Lotus Formula 1 Car! My all time favorite driver!
Kevin little rascal......Marty's tinkering always sends me to the workshop.... thanks Kevin....Oh yes the cars look marvelous.
Beautiful restoration!!! I love that kind of formula cars. The color are awesome!!! Congrats!!!
Hi Martin, thanks for commenting, yes, I was very happy with the colours that i matched with these two classics!
Awesome job they look amazing they are perfect👍👍👍👍👍
Saved this so I could enjoy a glass of wine with it. Well worth it. Thanks Marty
What the wine or the video!???
Saturday morning and I too have my coffee and butter buiscuits watching Marty's Matchbox, it's a great start to my day. Hello from South Texas
I think you could retro-fit anything !!! Amazing how you fabricate missing/broken parts and pieces !!! A labor of love for sure !!!
Sat in bed , a cup of tea, a Marty double, and Kevin too. Doesn't get much better than this. Thanks Marty
2 car restoration! Thanks Marty!
Great looking cars
Your colour matching and spray painting are, well, unmatched. Incredible eye for hues. Marty for President!
I never miss these videos...terrific sense of humor and attention to detail.
Top job as always marty, another 2 classics saved from the scrap heap!
I just love watching vintage cars race around Martinsville. Reminds me of a simpler time.....
first of all who would dislike this? Marty does a great job and is quite resourceful in making repairs. another great job.
I was stuck on cutting the numbers for these two cars and look what I find... Marty to the rescue! Picked up a set on hollow punches and the decals came out great! Awesome tip Marty!
Well I must say those turned out really well, thanks Marty, take care as always from South Africa 🇿🇦
I, like everyone here just loves and admires your work...
Sat. morning 3 degrees below zero and watching MMM....don't get no better than that!!
They’re racing hard in “Martinsville!” Great job, Marty. The colors are beautiful. I may have sanded down the sharp edges of the new front “tires” (made from those washers) to get them to look like original Matchbox rubber, but other than that minor detail, another spectacular pair of restored cars saved from the race car graveyard. Great craftsmanship...
Love them both, but oh that Lotus! Thanks for sharing.
Yeah I luv the green with the stripe, really looks good!
Excellent video, I love reading the newspaper headlines in the spray box. Particularly the "Chimp's head out on a human" which when blocked by a paint pot becomes "MP's head out on human" A Marty classic.
Another terrific Matchbox renewal as well !
Dear god!! A chimp head in a human body!!! Great video !!!
Great work. Great bloke. No ads. Great.
Excellent work again, Clark, Hill & Brabham would be proud.
love these vintage racers and their vintage colors
Great job. Love the two for one video. Don't sweat the look of the driver you made, it's just fine. All anyone is going to see is a great looking car ready to race.
Great job! I had the blue one (again, courtesy of my grandmother--boy, did she know how to spoil me!). Thanks for all you do.
Marty! What a great idea to work on two at a time. Since you have all the decals printed, paint mixed, and wheels made, you should make 5 or 6 at a time and sell the others to us fans of your show!
Marty... you are the Bob Rosa of the model restoration! I love your videos and gags!
Great demonstration - these were some of my favorite toys.
I enjoy the makeovers as much as everyone else, but I also enjoy reading the wild news paper headlines.
I can't believe how great that new exhaust looks. What an ingenious fix, Marty.
Marty, as always, great restoration! Kevin slacked off so much he is about to get his due from the cat. The ending race shot with sound effects was “perfect”!!
Marty has inspired me to buy these old cars for much money. eBay is good for job lots. Now all I need is all the tools and Marty’s expertise. Wish me luck. Thanks Marty great job.
As always Marty, you never disappoint. Thank you for your continued efforts to entertain us awhile preserving history through education.
great job... superb video... thanks!!!!!
Fantastic job, Marty, as usual.
I think they"re smashing! As of now they're my favorite! Well done!
That exhaust repair was brilliant!
So relaxing. These videos are therapeutic.
I remenber and I love this 2 matchbox cars
Couldn't sleep last night so went from watching many Megabatti bat rescuer videos to Marty's Restorations. Both of you are terrific.
Great rescues & restorations in Australia. One to save the past, on to ensure the future.
But after all this video binging I'm heading off to buy some lettuce seeds & Qtips.
Another brilliant video, Marty. Back in the day I was a huge car racing fan and these models were the bee's knees.
Your videos are really zen, Marty. I'm not really a matchbox collector or anything, but I really enjoy watching these after a long day.
beautiful job mate
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS AND YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR
Nice job using the rubber washers for the front tires. Great idea.
These two look fantastic!
Really liked the ingenious way you repaired the exhaust! Thanks for these great videos.
lol you kill me with the choice of newspapers under the paint spraying, another good vid Marty, cheers
I already had a Lotus that is in excellent original condition. Now I'm going to have to look for a BRM! Thanks, Marty, you have inspired me to restore my original 1950's Matchbox models that were missing parts or broken. Keep it up!
As always, beautiful craftsmanship!
Beautiful restoration! I remember having both of the as a kid. There was at one time a set for all of the Matchbox race cars but I never did get it. Thanks for sharing this.
Really cool restorations. And I really LOVE your cat's reaction to Kevin sunbathing! lol
I'm very grateful for your superglue/baking soda fix, Marty. It saved my favourite pair of glasses, which I inadvertently sat on. Good as new (or even better!?) thanks to your technique. Cheers!
OMG!! A chimp's head has been put onto a human body! Seriously though, another great job Marty.
Brilliant! Thanks so much for all tour great videos. Like spending time with an old friend! Great work!
Greetings from frigid (16°f) Purdue University, USA. Another great childhood memory from Marty. Good fun. Great work. My cat color matches your cat.
Another great video Marty. Love the Grand Prix cars of this era.
I'm about to do exactly this pair of cars, so what a coincidence!
Excellent job once again,beautiful restoration!
these turned out really good....Loved seeing Kevin....my son’s name!!!!
Watching this videos from Italy. I must these restoration stuff over matchbox cars give me a Great Reliefe in life. You're definitely the best,i LOVE your Works! Congratulations Maestro.
It may be a small corner of the internet, but Marty really is Grand Lord of Matchbook restoration.
I can't help but notice that several of the other die cast presenters have started to mimic Marty's style.
Proof that the best complement is copying the masters work.
Hi Marty! I'm a Matchbox fan since the early '60s, living in New Holland, Pa. You have a great restoration video channel! I build mainly 1/25 scale plastic car and truck kits now, and have also restored or reworked Matchbox and Hot Wheels vehicles. One detail I always do to my models is to black wash grilles and openings, and add flat black to some areas. Since you add some silver to the grilles and other areas, a slight flat black wash would really make them pop. I love your work, and having a supportive wife is awesome! Thank you!
Marty they look fantastic!! 👍🏻👍🏻
A 2 for 1 special, really enjoyed this video!
Great Sean, thanks for commenting.
Always great to watch!!!
nice makeovers! the last 10 seconds = reality.
Hi Marty, enjoyed your video , bloody fantastic job keep up the great work look forward to the next video.
Thanks Nigel, glad to see you on board!
When Kevin first appeared, thought he was going out for tacos. Great video, Marty. Thanks for the laughs.
still like the spray booth !! has me chuckling. so a great makeover and it must be hard trying to get good second hand parts for them.. cheers
Amazing job on these restorations ! From Framingham , Massachusetts . USA
Loving that they were racing at Martinsville, VA. =)
;)
Thanks Marty, I really enjoyed that. The contrast between your relaxing narration and sweary out-takes always cracks me up too!
I think these are your best work yet!!! really like this set!!!! Well Done!
My God, Marty....I am constantly amazed at some of your solutions to restoration challenges....in this video, the broken exhaust. When watching these, and you initially identify a “challenge”, I try to think “how would I address that?”. An inflating needle would never have crossed my mind! Outstanding, amigo! Incidentally, I have all of my Matchbox cars (200+) from my and my brother’s childhood in storage. These Formula racers were some of my favorite....planting an interest that has lasted all of my 64 years. If memory serves, I also had a red Ferrari....complete with the “prancing pony” emblem. I am going to have to open the sealed boxes where my cars are stored to investigate....and visit the idea of restoring them. (The three of them would look nice displayed on a stained walnut base!) Another well-deserved “Bravo-Zulu” for an especially enjoyable video!
Really good Marty. I am five years old again, Jim Clark is driving my BRM, The Grand Prix is playing on the telly live from Silverstone and the noise of the cars on the telly is in my ears. I can feel it all now.
Again a great restoration X2 and good humor with it well done Marty
Your videos are very enjoyable and inspiring. Mahalo!
In these educational videos; the one thing I learned is that, you have to follow step-by-step instructions. Especially in the very way when it comes to restoring Matchbox or Hot Wheels toy cars.
I love these projects! I used to modify Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars for Road Warrior table top game, back in college, and I enjoy seeing the methods and care you use. It's nice to see these old beaters getting new life. I also enjoy your sense of humour, and look forward to each new Weekly World News headline ;) Keep up the good work!
Awesome work Marty ..
I really love how both race cars came out.
Another good job! Glad to see Kevin is getting along with no worries.
Million dollar makeovers for five dollar cars :) I love it!
They both look amazing. My favorite is the blue one! Wish I could see a shot of Kevin after his sun bath.
Excellent results!
Very nice work man.
Very satisfying video Marty. Love that blue. Great job
that tyre idea is genius!
C vraiment de la magie, très belles voitures de collection.
Merci d'avoir regardé et commenté la France!
impressed with the "pipe" repair..............
Beautiful work as always!
Excellent job, Marty. I really enjoyed this two for the price of one makeover.
Ohmyword! lol 😆 the headlines in your paint booth!!! hahahahaha
Awesome job man!
Marty's Masterpiece makeovers
Looking super. Keep doing it. I just love it.
Another good one Marty - you should start selling merchandise, a t-shirt with "I'm happy with that!" would be a good start :)
