The best out of the 3 different methods I have watched. I served in akwa ibom and one woman I saw making it actually puts the pot down before adding the Afang. Plus video was very descriptive and accommodating even for those who may have reasonably priced ingredients. I give it to you ma.
Weldone Ma. I have really learnt a lot from your cooking platforms especially on Instagram. You are always going the extra mile to teach about something, either the technique, spice, quality, origin of the dish etc. Bless you.
This video is really helpful now I can cook my afang without it getting dark. I usually boil the waterleaf first then add stock and finally the afang. Will definitely try this method .
My 4th Afang soup video and I just learnt some important details. You were saying why you did the things you did which is helpful. You're really good. You could do a 2hr video on how to boil water, and I'd still thoroughly enjoy.
This is so good. Thanks Ma @1qfoodplatter for always educating us about the ingredients. I look forward to learning something new anytime I watch your videos.
Thank you so much ma for sharing. I have been following you for a while but didn't see anything from you for a while. I was elated to find you today. Thank you for sharing once more ma. God bless.
Wow this is one very detailed and informative video I’ve watched. You are a great and practical teacher. Taking time to explain everything. Thank you very much ma. I’m going to make this soup better than before because you have cleared all my confusions. Thank you once more.
Tamara Ituma . I put the pounded Afang in little cellophane bags tie and freeze. Usually I measure about the quantity I need per pot of cooking and freeze
@@florenceekpenyong8232 . Boiling your periwinkle before use is an option. I add mine to the meat pot that contains salt, pepper and other flavors to cook . Ofcourse I would have previously washed the periwinkle thoroughly.
@@1qfoodplatter well i was taught by my mother and grand mothers, paternal and maternal to boil it. When you boil it first, you see how the water turns to light blue and it brings out some of the unwanted residue from the periwinkle. You do what you deem fit. I did not say you should do what i do i was simply stating how i do mine. Thanks.
Jennifer Igwebike . Unfortunately water leaf does not do well in the freezer. It turns dark grey. Maybe if the water is squeezed out it may freeze well . I will try to see .
We do have periwinkle but no fresh afang and water leaves. Someone told me she has seen dried ones in one of the african stores. How do we cook the dried afang?

Well done as usual. Please are dry shelled periwinkles available outside the riverine areas?
Nice soup
Looking so delicious
Ilove your cooking
You have got a new subscriber
Pretty different from Cameroon version. Thanks
The only difference is the pounding and the periwinkle
Is that a lacreuse dish ware.. Ur soups are nice
Nice one
Rose Gold . Thank you. I hope you get to try it sometime.
Ma Did you add onions when boiling your meat.
How come Oron crayfish and Afang is better.? Is there something about Oron?
Lovely
nice work
exactly the way I like my afang soup
But the soup is too watery
Please ma, can I wash my afang leaf after cutting d leaf
I think so but it’s better before cutting. After washing the cut leaves you have to allow to dry before blending or pounding else it could be slimy.
🤣 Yes o @obstructions. Nice
We that basis aborad what leave do we use in place of water leave.
Tina Jeffery . Frozen spinach should work
I use basil leaves.
I use spinach
I always boil my periwinkle with salt separately before i put in the soup.

Looks yummy! But can we put the water leave the the freezer as well?
Jennifer Igwebike . Unfortunately water leaf does not do well in the freezer. It turns dark grey. Maybe if the water is squeezed out it may freeze well . I will try to see .

No periwinkle.. sad.
We do have periwinkle but no fresh afang and water leaves. Someone told me she has seen dried ones in one of the african stores. How do we cook the dried afang?
I need to know how to cook the dry afang too
@@laurake443 Please which African stores sell dried periwinkles?
Laura Oj Soak it with a little warm water, then pulse blend or pound
I settle with the bone to "address" it... 😂😂😂
Mills Mountain
Gabon it is KOUMOU
Madam please correct yourself it's a Calabar or Efik dish, not Ibibio Efik dish.
MIAM
Afang is not Efik its ibibio
please stop saying "you can afford" makes it look like people can't afford anything.
Nice one
