Lots of firewood to lay by for future cold winters in front of the chateau fireplace! I believe this may be the craziest restoration job I've ever seen someone take on. I mean that in a good way.
As long as it is hard wood
@@SuperAbcdabcdabcdabc is there a problem burning soft wood?
@@goldenineke pine burns, but it snaps, pops, and sparks a lot, not a good wood for fireplaces
Just use a fire guard
@@SuperAbcdabcdabcdabc the best firewood is free firewood, is kinda the attitude I've been brought up with. But yeah, the classifications of firewood and how dense the growth circles are really has a say in how often you need to add wood to your fire, so I agree, it's just that if you get it for free then you might as well burn it instead of letting it rot away.
Always great to see Nick! His knowledge and skill is just a cut above others! 😊
Well said!!!
but always heart sick to see living trees cut down....Ugh, actually can't watch this episode. these trees were not sick & dying...just "in the way" OMG
@@jimalugott6112 Do you never use wood for anything? Looks like it’s all being put to use.
A lot of those trees were unsafe and a hazard around the chateau. Also Nick has shown at LaLande what is needed to produce a healthy woodland by thinning and clearing to encourage healthy growth for the woodland and native wildlife.
Nick is a talented man and is saving the woodlands where he works. He’s amazing! 👏🏻👏🏻😍
@@jimalugott6112 although sad to see any healthy tree having to be cut down, its my view that trees and woodland need to be maintained, managed and potentially harvested if appropriate. A much more positive future for the château grounds/treescape now that this work has commenced.
Dear Dan! I am a 74 year old grandmother who loves history! I live in Georgia USA and am so proud for you rebuilding this historic chateau. I hope to see the finished work in the future! God bless and Merry Christmas!
What a difference. Nick's work is amazing! Dan, you were made for this project. The chateau & property are in good hands.
Nick is a legand! So grateful he could help out at your chateau. You guys are doing a fantastic job! I'm so glad you kept the Christmas tree up by the chateau. It looks really pretty between the staircases. Well done!! I hope the weather doesn't hinder your progress. When spring returns, so will all the vegetation, which means more yardwork. I'm really enjoying the vlogs, Dan. Keep up the great work!! 💝💖💗
That's when the Woodchester come in handy. Great mulch and fully organic.
The two of you are crushing it. A joy to see Nic and to know he might be with you for the next 4 mos. Spring and summer will bring the vision of the landscape framing the chateau to fruition.
Forest management is mesmerizing to watch. Nick not only has a wealth of knowledge , his physical ability to climb a tree that needs to be topped is amazing too. Dan’s channel is unique in the restoring château’s categories and a pleasure to watch.
I could watch Nick do his thing for hours! There is something relaxing and reassuring to watch someone who really knows his craft working away at it…plus, we don’t get much of this in NYC! The clearing of the trees makes a huge difference. Will Dan decorate the tree for his first Christmas at the chateau? Someday, god willing, it will be Jack and Thomas and their kids out there putting up the big tree! ♥️ 🎄😎
I am still so impressed Dan that you took on this project to retore a broken down chateau that no one else would have the gumption to touch. I will watch while you rebuild it, and rejoice with you when you are moved in. 😊❤
It’s heartbreaking this beautiful Christmas tree had to come down. But Nick know what he is doing…..
A lot of hard work by you both and you have achieved so much, well done Nick and Dan. This is going to be such a wonderful renovation, I bet your cabin will be cosy and warm when you build it. Grwat work. 💕🇦🇺
NIck is a star in his own right.
Nick the tree surgeon is so talented! I’m excited to see the view of the chateau after all of his work removing trees
Nick is amazing at what he does!
That Christmas song had this 58 year old dancing all around her studio apartment! Good job Dan!!!
LOVELY😊❤
Nick is an absolute treasure, as are you, Dan. I’m always so impressed with how much you each accomplish. I couldn’t be more thrilled for you as you uncover and rebuild your beautiful chateau/home.
You’re building a little cabin!! 🥳 can’t wait for that! My heart broke when you cut the giant Christmas tree! I could never have cut that beauty. I understand your reasoning but what a beauty gone. I wish you’d do the drone with the boundary lines. Nick is a real fantastic friend and craftsman to have around! Hope he can get you all straight. Can’t wait for what’s next!🎉
Loving this...Nick is amazing, love him to bits!❤
It’s amazing how transformative Nick’s work always is. ❤️🇨🇦
Amazing to see the changes at your chateau. It's great seeing Nic, too!
Tree guys are pure wild and nuts. I'm always impressed in this skill.
Nick is a star. He knows his stuff. You can do it. 👏👏👏❤❤❤🤩🤩🤩
Great idea to have Nick working on the grounds while you work on the chateau, hopefully it'll all come together at once! Think you should get an old touring caravan to put on the site as a temp base - with a gas bottle you could have a warm indoor fire and a working stove for hot cups of tea and a cosy place to rest in between jobs.
Great idea! In Canada it's not uncommon to see a construction trailer (caravan) on a job site. They can be quite affordable, already equipped for living/office and wouldnt take time and energy away from the job.
My heart was in mouth seeing Rick swaying at the top of the tree 🌳 😳.Dan you are such an inspiration just love watching youm
I love when Nick is included in the vlogs it's good to see he's staying busy ❤️
Wow Nick has no fear he is a gem, and good you got him helping you. What a difference Dan it looks already by opening up to see the view of the chateau. Only you would want a big Christmas tree put up Dan😂 Loved watching😘
You and Nick make a good team. Good luck with the big job you have ahead.
I am so excited to watch your channel and all your hard work Dan. Of ALL the Chateau utube videos I’ve found, yours Dan is the most excited I am about watching. After watching you with Stephanie, etc., I kept thinking, Dan needs a Chateau of his own. Yours will be simply Dynamite!! It will be back to an original look, just a little quirky look, but I feel you will do it justice with the reverence to its past for the children look. Bless you 100x for your passion, hard work, and dedication! When I heard you say once something about “imagine that GRAND STAIRCASE……..” I WAS HOOKED!!! CRACK ON, MAN!
My sentiments exactly. This is the channel I look forward to watching, from your beginning to now. Thank you.
What an absolute treat to see you Dan working again with the exquisite tree master Nick! It’s like you two have carved out the landscape to surround the beauty of this old lady…..cheers….double cheers…..and thank you for taking us on this journey! Hooray for you both….feels like it can breathe again…AH!
You are making massive progress. What a beautiful reveal of the chateau now that the trees are down. You and Steph will be able to keep Nick busy between the two of you.
V9: That has really produced a vista opening onto the chateau grounds! TOP JOB DAN & NICK!!
Glad to see you and Nick working together! Great team…..and perfect spot for the Christmas Tree. 🎄
Have we seen these "lost" war-time photographs in an earlier vlog? Regardless, it would be good to see the photos again as a comparison of sorts. And Dan, the drone shots on a clear day will be great for your subscribers:) Nick has his own vast knowledge of forest and trees - so glad he's helping.
Yeah I skimmed through this video a few times now but haven't seen any old photos. I would love to see some!
It looks like Fanny Ben Ami is still alive. What a wonderful time to meet her and get her story. Would LOVE to see that happen.
Nick is an absolute badass!
Nick is the best tree doctor . The grounds are going to look brilliant. Gives the other trees a chance to grow , you are going to have fire wood for years 🥰🐨 Merry Christmas to you all and I look forward to next years transformations. 🎅🐨
You and Nick are a good team, great progress! Setting the christmas tree inbetween the two flights of stairs at front of chateau was lovely. I can imagine years ahead when the chateau is liveable and you can decorate such a large christmas tree in that very spot-how lovely it will be. Thanks for sharing, and looking forward to next year.Merry Christmas Dan and family!
Whatever you’re paying Nick he earns every penny, especially when he’s working high in a tree. Please show the old photographs you mentioned.
Nick is a gem. He knows the way to manage woods well. I'm assuming it's a log cabin that's planned? Plenty of young trees to use.
Ah, but Nick also has a portable saw mill...guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Thanks for sharing this day of clearing!! You and the amazing Nick!!
Amazing to watch Nick. Such confidence up the trees. Well done both of you.x
Wonderful! What a great team you and Nick make to the landscape of your chateau!
Glad to see Nick helping you and progressing quick . Thought u had a small caravan that would help while you were next to the chateaux.
Never gets old watching Nick work his magic! So exciting to see the progress being made! AND look at your channel grow!!! 😊
Come on slow pokes, like, share and subscribe, let's make Dan's channel grow like crazy. Help him make some progress on this exciting project.
Excellent landscaping progress!!! You and Nick make a great team!!! He’s a keeper!!! You are making steady progress, Dan!!! 🤗❤️🎶👏👏👏🇨🇦🇫🇷🎅🎄
Nick is a legend! I got vertigo and stomach lurches just looking at the shots from his helmet when he was up the tree! Could never do that job 😬 so I’m glad someone can 😅
I’ve got wood muncher envy. Nick has some awesome machinery.
Nick is amazing! Dan, what good friends you have. The boys are going to love the tree.
Awesome day of clearing , Nick is a winged climber ... makes it look easy , great view now
Nick is amazing. He has mastered his skills and he is so good at it! So much work done in just one day!
Its starting to look like a dream coming true😊
I love wathing Nick work- a master at his trade! Making progress there! Great work!
Perfect weather for doing the heavy tree work around the grounds. The trees are easier to cut in the cold, and you don't sweat to death.
Nick is amazing tree God...
You have a lot of work ahead of you, but once it's done, It'll look great !
Thanks for sharing. 😀
Great to see you and Nick again. The progress you're making is exciting! I look forward to your posts, so thank you for taking the time to share with us! Stay safe. ❤

I love watching Nick work.
Great progress Dan.Nick is doing a fabulous job with the clearing.Your in good hands.❤️🎄🥰
💕It’s great to see the trees getting removed from around the château & to open up the surrounding gardens💕Giving you plenty of logs & wood for future use💕I hope that Nick will continue to work his magic for you💕
You got just the right digger! Well what a bright start Nick and Dan! ! Magic days as the song says! 😅🐲🔥
Nick is so knowledgeable..he is a joy to watch. Your first Christmas 🎄 is standing guard over your home 💜🤠
This man is a genius on the tree
Now that's a Christmas tree! Nick is a master at what he does. It's amazing the progress you've made.
Great job Dan and Nick . What a difference that has made. You are such a hard worker.
That Nick is a real find! Thank you, Stephanie! She sure does collect characters🥰. Cold is a matter of place. Here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada it was -24C the other day. Today was a balmy -2C. It felt like summer. I love your Vlog, Dan, and your energy. I would take one look at this project and run the other way!😂
It is amazing what you are doing! I have never seen or heard of anyone taking on such an enormous task, let lone with no set out budget. At the end the cost is going to be astronomical! But, like in the old days, with friends and donations you can do alot, it's just going to take time, and alot of hard work. I am so happy to be here watching you restore this chateau. All my best on your endeavor. I know you will find many ways to make it happen. You are truly an amazing person. You go Dan!!!
It’s exciting to see you clearing the land, and your visit vision sounds wonderful.
These tree guys are amazing. I had some taken down at my house and it was nerve wracking. Good job Nick. Love the music. Thanks for sharing well done the videoman Dan.
Nick has done a fabulous job helping you clear the damaged trees out to reveal more of the chateau. I hope the weather holds so you can continue to work. I enjoy watching other people work❣️
With the chateau finally standing in an opening, I can better appreciate the statement it makes. Beautiful!!
Brilliant watching Nick work his magic Dan. La Lande has certainly been a wonderful place for bringing together some marvellous people and talents that are already starting to help you in tackling this project.
Great to see Nick working as ever.Making a big change now!
You are my favorite Chateau channel, followed by Escape to the Dream and Bordeaux Life.
Love going back in time to see these again. What a change. Music rocks.
I would have left most of the trees, I thought it looked more charming, being in the center of a small wooded area. Plus coming up through that tunnel of trees from the drive, then seeing chateau slowly being revealed was pretty cool, in your first video when visited the property.
Great progress Dan! So happy to see you light up working on your own Chateau! Magical!
Hi there 😄 you've a gorgeous picture on your profile! Just decided to stop by and say hi!! I hope my compliment is appreciated 🌹☺️
Woah! That's a huge amount of work! And future firewood! 🙌 Brilliant work you two, Nick is just a force of nature, I hope he'll be on board to help you like you said, will be absolutely transformative for the Chateau! 👌❤️🎄 Happy Holidays boys!
Congratulations on the progress and your ability to partner with Nick 🤝
Here’s to carving out some epic treescapes 🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🏡
you are doing a great job saving this place
Watching Nick is like watching ballet. Well, except when trying to erect large Christmas trees apparently! That was a hoot! Great to see all the progress.
Love the Christmas tree 🎄 between the staircase after several takes. Nic is a legend and you are lucky he’s able to help you. Looking good Dan. Thanks for sharing ❤😍😘
Nick is worth his weight in Tree Clearing Gold.
I don't know what you like, would do without Nick, bless him he's a tree surgeon of all tree surgeons
The Chateau reveal what a lot of clearing done. Thank goodness you have Nick he’s amazing to watch taking down trees that you don’t need. Good thing is you’ll have plenty of firewood.
Wow! Incredible progress! I love all the experts you and Stephanie have used (including yourself) over the years. People like Nick are priceless! A before and after would be fun to see. Stay warm!!
Love from Mary in Southern California 💗
Wow loving the clearing so far. The Christmas tree is THE BEST. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Nick is worth his weight in GOLD!!! Nick possesses skills that few have. I also had an friend that had the gift with the chainsaw and did major surgery on my huge trees. But alas, he is no longer with us. I don't know where I am going to find someone as fearless as Nick. Smart move to keep Nick for the next 4 months.
You two working together is a link to another time, despite power tools and such, you're braving the elements and working toward a worthy goal. I don't know that I've ever seen anyone, anywhere, throughout my long life, so energized by a formidable challenge. I like to think I have distant ancestors made of the same stuff. Thanks for reaffirming my faith in a person's ability to work hard to realize a dream. I'm old, but maybe it's not too late . . .
Dan. The beauty of the chateau is revealing itself. Great work with nick and plenty more to come.. Well done
Dan… You have a clone!! Hugo Lloris… Yes… Absolutely nothing to do with château life and renovation however… He is a champion and so are YOU. I cannot watch “les bleus” playing in the World Cup without thinking of you. In other words, you are on my mind all the time!!! And THAT is a wonderful thing indeed 🤗💞 Victory to all!!! 💘
Faithfully yours in your fantastic endeavours and adventures 🥰
We’re rooting for you Dan! Question: is anyone else interested in where/how Nick the tree man lives? Seems like an interesting fellow.
Progress is happening Dan! Can’t wait, cheers Kirk
Really making a difference! Hey if Stihl company isn't sponsoring you they should be!
Nick is a gem. With his skills and yours, you can’t go wrong.
Two legends together! 🌲🤩. Nick's skills are amazing and Dan you are so talented🤩! So looking forward to watch your progress. Merry advent🕯 from a cold Sweden, -12 degrees today and a lot of snow. ☃️❄
Wow, Nick is a master isn't he?!
Minus 5?!!! C-c-c-c-cold! 🥶
That fog made it all look quite surreal. What a great special effect you arranged there, Dan. 😄
Love Jacqueline from New Zealand 🌲🎄🌲
So glad nicks helping you, well done 👍
What a beautiful transformation, you & Nick did! As I seat in front of our warm fire with a cup of cocoa, I felt guilty! Your Christmas tree is a beauty. 👍🏻💕🎄🙏🏻🇺🇸
Yes it is making a difference
Well done another good day with perfection. You deserve this property.
