If your vehicle hadn't stopped on you, you may have proceeded into a horrible accident? Although detained and annoyed, you and yours are well; none the worse in the end. Thank God for your good fortune! Love you, Dan! ❤

I found some bags on the bin and newspaper and I wrapped them up and bagged as many as I could much to the enjoyment of a group of Japanese tourists who kept taking pictures as I went on oblivious, thinking only of these tiles. Dan, this place is stunning, and when finished, it will be nothing less than magnificent!!!!! Looking forward to watching the journey to the finish line,.
I'm much more worried about how you'll be able to protect them while working than I am about them looking a bit worn. Of course they've got little stains and things - they've been through so much! Once you get them sealed properly again they'll be bright and shiny. But please. Please put a protective floor over them while you're working. >.
Then you and your family are in my prayers. Old lady here. From Oklahoma. Nothing worse than sitting by the road in a broke down car. With kids in the back seat. 🙏🙏🙏

What a beautiful floor of history which isn't just dirt but a masterpiece that tells a story of children and adults of tough times long ago. Definitely a novel to write about.
Wow, Dan! This is going to be so beautiful, brought back to life. The colors of the tiles and the granite is such a great jumping off point for decor...okay, way ahead of things here. Keep up the great work!

Hello Dan! The tiles are indeed beautiful and the granite pillars once all cleaned up will be an amazing feature in the chateau along with the beautiful tiles. I hope Calvin made it to his flight. But cars are a real pain, even the newer ones. Better luck on your car in the morning. Hopefully you can get it repaired and be back on the road again. Thanks for sharing.😊❤

I don't understand something about it I know . But why power wash when you still have several feet of actual dirt right in the middle. I'm sure there is a reason.
Uhm.... Of course Dan will know, to protect the tiles 🙄 He is going to put up massive scaffolding, and work on the floors and roof above. He IS quite clever, if you hadn't noticed 😉 They are so gorgeous, all the different tiles! I can already imagine the beautiful interior, as it was.... I can hardly wait for it to be brought back!
It would be wise if they wore hard hats inside as well. Don’t want an accident from falling bricks while excavating. Great progress and a stunning floor.
The Petherick’s have the blueprints for their chateau. There must be a way of finding out of there are any somewhere. Even knowing the history of the building and who the architect was and contacting relatives might work. The town might also have a copy.
The colors of the leaves and background of the boarder tiles is unexpected, to me. Love how much more vibrant the entire floor is, after pressure washing!!
Just thinking...how many people and children have walked over that tiled floor at the entrace in the past, the mind boggles. The marble pillar is so gorgeous cleaned up, and now its inspired you yet again to plow on Dan. You and your cars don't go together very well do they. 🙄 Your doing a grand job. 💕🇦🇺
Dan I’m sorry you had a hiccup there. However, things do go right look at your beautiful tile and the pillars will be stunning. All your hard work has paid off vehicles are just not your forte lol they just don’t like you. But fortunately your shot toe does. You’re all safe. And sending love and a big hug.😖🤗🤟🏻😎🇺🇸
Time to lay a temorary floor over those tiles, Dan. Protect them as that mound of rubble has done for so long. Also have a wooden structure built around the pillars, like a box, in order to ensure nothing takes nicks and chunks out as you rebuild. Just as you keep each piece of molding, wood, etc. to use as a template. It is now time to secure what you have uncovered. To replicate down the road those features you find, most of which were destroyed. Thank you for bringing us along on this epic journey, Dan.
The floor tiles are absolutely spectacular! What vibrant colour! The cleaned pillar has revealed gorgeous granite. I share your excitement for wanting to see it all cleaned up. It gives you something to really look forward to whilst you deal with setbacks common to renovation in a different Country. On the plus side, clutches don't usually just completely fail, they usually give plenty of warning with slipping, shuddering and or bad noises. A sudden fail would be more likely to be either a hydraulic line/cylinder or mechanical cable failure which is usually a lot easier, quicker and cheaper to fix...
The tiles and pillars look great Dan. I hope you can get the rest of that room cleared soon too. Your mate deserves a medal for all the work he achieved during the week. I hope you can get a temporary roof on fairly soon and some sort of shelter for yourself built. Perhaps you can approach Terry and Ash at Lacelle to get one of their caravans? That would probably make sense if you can get a power pole connected so you could save some money on accommodation. Just a thought! Best to you always, David
Hi Dan, I do hope that you will get to read this! I remember those times when my husband and I were first married. We had nothing. Any setback seemed an absolute disaster! But we were young and healthy, we had 2 beautiful baby boys ( and now 6 beautiful grandchildren. ) Looking back now from the grand old age of 80 , and a widow for 4 years, what would I give to have it all back; but it only comes around once. So, remember, all things must pass, so make the most of now, troubles and all. And be positive, you have a wonderful attitude and work ethic; you will make it!
Always hope for the best, but expect the worst. At least Calvin got out on time? It has to do with getting older used vehicles. Just happens. And, that is when you need a vehicle you can trust--when they are older and used. I drive two older cars and they are always having something go wrong, but I just buck up, like you do. So disappointing really. No car payments. And, I don't put as many miles on my cars as you do, but did for years and years. Can't tell you how many times I was dropped at the most inconvenient time. I drove an MG for years, and you know how reliable they are. Lucas electric and all that. "An absolute disaster" I looked at with tribulation. I thought you guys had somehow completed it all. Now it will be a single man job? Beautiful floors. I was thinking that maybe, just maybe the tiles would pop off. I didn't think of your car dropping you. Some day, Dan, this part of your life will be over and you will look back and just shake your head and wonder how you did it all. I did notice a smallish tree growing in that pile that is left. Just another day in paradise. Soldier on mate. You have a large force behind you.
what an adventure, it truly is watching something from an episode from the time machine. you never know what your going find underneath all of that debris.....
Beautiful floor! Yeah, I know what you mean, sometimes the bumps in the road of life can sometimes become holes and cause much damage. One day at a time and sometimes one problem at a time. Hope we see Calvin again. See ya tomorra!!!
He's had more than his share of vehicle troubles with the green van, his motorcycle, and now his newly purchased car all failing him in recent weeks. Frustrating.
I have been watching a young couple who had just bought some property and a house, and they had a forest fire and floods. It always seems darkest when things aren't going well but it does get better. It did for them! Sometimes you have to look for the beauty to keep you positive.
It's appalling the breakdown/insurance company will cancel 3 times on a family with young children. They should be priority! I was here in the U.K. when I had youngsters, smaller than Dans' boys though.
As they say shit happens. However, you all were safe, and no one got hurt. Your boys are adorable. Things are moving in the right direction at the Chateau. Best of luck.
My gosh, those tiles are spectacular Dan! What a difference a good power wash makes!!! The tiles, the pillar! Wow! You poor guy and cars! What a shame Calvin had to go back to the UK...hopefully you'll get some more help soon. You have some good friends!
As a fully fledged property developer myself, i cant understand why you would waste your time jet washing the floor when theres so much other stuff that needs doing and itll only get filthy again. Refurbs are about efficiency as theres already far too much to do.. Even wasting seconds scraping the grooves on the basement floor.. Shave seconds off the job in as many ways possible and dont waste time on silly tasks.. you'd thank yourself in the long run and avoid potential burn out. Only do stuff that makes a huge difference. Other than that 💎
Photo the tiles. Send to digital fabric printing company. Print tea-towels, cushions, posters, wallpaper, tea shirts - whatever. Get some merch, Dan!

Agreed. Protect them against weather and thieves.
I was going to say the same thing about the tiles being vulnerable now that they are exposed!

Wow Dan those tiles are beautiful the colour of them 😍 and the Piller's are wonderful too, can't wait for the next step in your chapter wow.x💕🌼🤗
That is life, how we choose to handle the issue is on us. Great work amazing how the tiles clean up.
How gorgeous this place was, I so hope to see it returned to the beauty it was once before! Cant wait to see It!
Hi Dan, I do hope that you will get to read this! I remember those times when my husband and I were first married. We had nothing. Any setback seemed an absolute disaster! But we were young and healthy, we had 2 beautiful baby boys ( and now 6 beautiful grandchildren. ) Looking back now from the grand old age of 80 , and a widow for 4 years, what would I give to
have it all back; but it only comes around once. So, remember, all things must pass, so make the most of now, troubles and all. And be positive, you have a wonderful attitude and work ethic; you will make it!
AND all this video footage for future viewing! (That's what I regret)
'Cor Blimey Gov, she scrubs up nicely! Sorry to hear about car debacle, if it aint one thing its another, wishing you some good luck!
Would love to know how much you paid for the chateau ?
Wait, why is Dan power washing when there's still a mountain of mud in the middle and no roof??? What did I miss lol
Dan wanted to see how it was as a new building, colors, materials...
Youthful, misguided exuberance I suspect. Really, really Dumb idea.
Video content
It does look incredible, and it's probably something I would do to get boost of inspiration to keep going forward.
Beautiful floor! Yeah, I know what you mean, sometimes the bumps in the road of life can sometimes become holes and cause much damage. One day at a time and sometimes one problem at a time. Hope we see Calvin again. See ya tomorra!!!
How beautiful! The tiles, the pillars, all of it.
Wow!!! Those tiles and those granite columns! I’m excited for all of the bits of beauty and history you are going to uncover.
Love how the tiles looked after power washing, but so sorry about the car it happens to all of us at some point in time. Hope it will be fixable.
He's had more than his share of vehicle troubles with the green van, his motorcycle, and now his newly purchased car all failing him in recent weeks. Frustrating.
Annalisa oltre a essere una bella donna è una brava mamma, è. Davvero brava anche con lei. 😘
I have been watching a young couple who had just bought some property and a house, and they had a forest fire and floods. It always seems darkest when things aren't going well but it does get better. It did for them! Sometimes you have to look for the beauty to keep you positive.
Wow - hope the car isn’t too expensive to fix. Annalise to the rescue - thank goodness. Did Calvin make his flight?
The granite pillar looks like it’s brand new after the jet wash. Gorgeous tiles, the colours are so cool 👌🏻.
It's appalling the breakdown/insurance company will cancel 3 times on a family with young children. They should be priority! I was here in the U.K. when I had youngsters, smaller than Dans' boys though.
I was soooo hoping you'd pressure wash the tile, to see what the colors truly are!! Thanks for doing that, Dan!!
I would begin my installation structure beams and build the roof first. But do know about construction. Nothing!!
Just wondered Dan, how many weetabix do you have each day for breakfast 😝😝
As a fully fledged property developer myself, i cant understand why you would waste your time jet washing the floor when theres so much other stuff that needs doing and itll only get filthy again. Refurbs are about efficiency as theres already far too much to do.. Even wasting seconds scraping the grooves on the basement floor.. Shave seconds off the job in as many ways possible and dont waste time on silly tasks.. you'd thank yourself in the long run and avoid potential burn out. Only do stuff that makes a huge difference. Other than that 💎
So jealous of the power washing uncovering all that beauty!
You're going to make everything in this place shine again Dan, I just know it
I think you have more important jobs to do there besides cleaning floors and pillars.
Annalise is pretty good to you
Why are you power washing when there is still giant pile of rubble not removed?
Waou encore des beaux pavés de ciment 👍👏👏😉
