Honestly, this is a good example of how perceptions can leave us blinded. OP could not see his wife's distress because of his own discomfort, and Abby did not notice her husband's discomfort because of her own distress. Meanwhile the family was relishing in their ability to ketchup with the ex and chance to mustard up an invitation to Europe.... All I know is that MIL and Aunty mayo may not get to meet the baby as they might get banned from the "peasant's farm"

Umm... I don't think yelling at them until you get fake apologies is enough. Her family activity tried to ruin your marriage, deprive your upcoming child of their father, see your wife be with another man, financially ruin you, etc. This wasn't a "misunderstanding" and you shouldn't just accept "we were just messing with you". Your wife and unborn child are your primary family. Other extended family now exist to help each other.
Her family is a direct threat to your family and should be treated as such.
