Matt, I'm 67 year old slow pitch softball player of over 30 years. You've taught me more with your animated style of teaching than anyone. You're the reason for so much of my recent enjoyment of the game. You're helping us at the senior level as well. Thank you so much! Jim G
Not entirely true. Elite hitters have a massive genetic leg up but with good instruction and dedication anybody can maximize their potential and improve their performance.
That’s not the case at all. That’s like saying all elite athletes are only elite because of their genetics. While they do play a very large factor, great coaching, training, and lots of practice can turn mediocre athletes into great hitters.
@@thegame89145 Agreed. The one current example that best illustrates this idea is JD Martinez. If you watch him play its clear that he is not an elite athlete but he turned himself into one of the best and most respected hitters in baseball through sheer grit and determination.
If you dedicate yourself for years you can do it. Buy yourself a tee and hitting net and practice these drills everyday. Hitting is a baseball is a skill. Pitch recognition like Bonds had is talent.

Hitting instruction is far better today than ever before, this bit of business being a great example of just that.
Great lesson!
Great stuff! Thanks for the new drill!
As you are working up with the lead arm, what is your feel for the trail arm? Is it a feeling of taking it straight to the line of the ball(pitch)?
Nice explanation
So good.
Launch angle?
I love it
Forward this to Christian Yelich please?
But but what about “swinging down to the ball”???🤣
First
if hitting was that easy everyone would be able to hit a baseball. Unfortunately its a game of genetics.

hand eye coordination also plays a big part in this.
