- After years of playing and jamming to this wonderful piece, we finally recorded a live video of Grizzly Man. The video was shot live from our rehearsal space in Oslo by Thomas Bottolfsen in August 2016.
Backing singer is the wonderous woman Helen Morrisson from the band Foxtrap:

Thank you for listening
What I like most is you can tell she's not just performing, she feels the music, something a lot of modern artists miss.
Fuck, this is one of the best covers I've ever heard! First off, Jenny Hval's version (when she was Rockettothesky) is perfection, therefore Kalandra had to put their own stamp on the song to make it worthwhile. And oh boy do they accomplish that! Although the singer is Norwegian, she actually seems to add an Irish lilt to her voice (Clanad fan maybe?), which immediately gives their version a Celtic feel. From then on they almost mirror Jenny Hval's song, while making just the subtlest of changes here and there. The result is a cover version of Grizzly Man which in my book is very nearly as good as the original. Have you guys played in Spain?
Her voice and that hypnotic melody haunts me to the marrow of my bones.
Wow this is perfect, even better than the original IMO. I really like the addition of the backup vocals too, she contrasts well with Kalandra’s singer and looks hella lovely too.
Wow this was great! I've been addicted to that song for years and I really enjoyed your Kalandra cover and harmonies! ...Could you do "Innocence is Kinky" now? haha just joking. Thank you, this was moving.
Hahaha! Thank You!
Doesn´t matter the amount of fallowers. Each one of us will love you for thousands. You guys are AWSOMEEEE!! You make me feel alive.
Lyrics - Rockettothesky: Grizzly Man - This song is by Rockettothesky and appears on the album Medea (2008). - - - - I've been watching him for seven days - His hands pale (hee-ho-hee-ho-hee-ho) - Knuckles moving beneath the skin - Foetuslike (hee-ho-hee-ho-hee-ho) - I've caught seven foxes - And placed them on the river bank - Each night I give him one (hee-ho-hee-ho-hee-ho) - Counting down the days till we are one - And clothe his heart in fur (hee-ho-hee-ho-hee-ho) - I sing of arms and the man his - Arms that wake each morning - White-knuckled and that copy claw gestures - 7 6 and 5 - 7 6 and 5 - 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 and here I go... - I take him in I take this body whole - So thin like a spine (hee-ho-hee-ho-hee-ho) - I thread him on inside of mine - And we are one (hee-ho-hee-ho-heeeee-ho) - And his is the fur at last I - See his eyes inside my mouth - Even when he sneaks into my bones - Forever unborn - Now finally I am a mother - (FinallyIamamotherhee-ho-hee-ho-hee-ho)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I well tell you My Best Beloved, this fabulously Haunting song is about A Women wishes to become a mother, so by trapping 7 foxes and doing an Animal Offering, gives them to this Furred Spirit Man of the Forrest, then she is able to sexually seduce him, She counts down the days till they are able to have sexual relations, And then she even describes the sexual act itself, 7 is often a magical number and she is basically placing a spell on him, A Marvelous Song, If I do say so myself, Love It....
I like that explanation. I'd love to track the story back to its source.
Of course, the other explanation is that it's a song about a bear eating a man, inspired by the documentary of the same name, but if so then it's an awfully thoughtful, lore-wise and numerate bear.
@@epiendless1128 I like to combine these two theories, in a way.
The she bear is singing about watching the man. She brings him foxes to fatten him and seduce him, gain favour/flavour.
To her, to mother nature, this is all ritual. Courtship.
This is all ‘sexual’, primal. Intimate.
The bearing of a child is to bear life. New life.
To feed or combine is new or more life to the bear.
Finally I am a mother.
Her empty stomach is full of life. She will live, he gave seed of his flesh to accomplish this.
The flower of life. 7 circles. Counting down the days til we are one.
One life.
One circle.
The circle of life.
They are one.
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
This song and especially this cover summoned my conception. Listened to it on repeat around my last ovulation and now I'm pregnant.

Cheers! We would love to visit Poland some day! x
If you do, you gotta totally let me know!
Yeeah it would be nice to see Kalandra in Cracow ❤
Dare i say this is even better than the original. It hits somewhere deep.
Your voice is like 432hz
as in lol
@@lil_weasel219
"It is the scale that unites the body and consciousness with nature. According to Richard Huisken, music tuned to 432 Hz is softer and calmer, giving greater clarity and is easier on the ears. Meditation music tuned to 432 Hz is relaxing for the body and mind and also more harmonically pleasant than 440 Hz."
@@hollyknudson4765 448 is just as great, I prefer it.
Other worldly. Love from Australia.
I know it's already quite late xD but: WE NEED THIS ON SPOTIFY!
Words seem incapable of describing what this means to me, such a great alternative version! Great to hear a bit more of the lyrics, as she seems to mumble through the lyrics. I was wondering which chords you go by?
Thanks you so much Nanna! Eller skal vi si tusen takk?
We use the same chords as in the original as it just happens to be in the right register for Kat's voice as well.
The verses are in:
Bm (eller Hm) - E(sus4).
CHORUS:
G - Em - D/F# x3
A9 - E9 x2
A9 - G - Em - D/F#
Roughly.
On guitar the advice is to put the capo on the 7th fret and it's easier than you think! ❤
Takk!! Stor hjælp! ;)
it is amazing! pure art.
Muchas gracias Javier. We really appreciate that
Katrine could sing anything and I’ll stop what I’m doing to listen. 🖤
It's a heartwarming song and a beautiful cover. This is the first time I hear Kalandra, but I kinda sense Aurora's aura in the singer's voice and gestures
The lyrics are absolutely not heartwarming if you know what it’s about. This song is about a bear eating someone.
YES! I came here to see if anyone else thought that she's intensely similar to Aurora. I had a rabdomized playlist running, and when this song started playing I thought, "I've never heard Aurora sing this before, how beautiful!" 🙃
"Here I go" is particularly evocative of what I thought was 'Aurora-ness' but now I realize can be just what happens when a native female Norwegian speaker sings English lyrics.
@@PaulthePhilosopher2 I had the exact same association with the "here I go" part that strongly reminds me of Aurora
It reminds me of this moment of a live concert of Aurora singing "Little Boy in the Grass": ruclips.net/video/XXVwFvkNTEg/видео.htmlsi=cmBpWcu-nybH8lbg&t=392

I have just discovered this song... I have searched for the lyrics... Its beatifull. What is the song really about? I have searched and found its about a woman who wants to become a mother and places an spell on some form of spirit man... What you guys think its the song about?... Thankx, greetins from Colombia... Love your music
I think it's about falling in love for the first time with a good man.
It's scary because his depths are unkown yet familiar.
That's why she feeds the fox slowy.
She's cautious and doesnt want to over nourish.
Anyways it all worked out in the end and she faces her biggest fear by becoming a mother.
I found it!! 🤩
Heilt fantastisk nydeleg 🥰
Gjorde ni väldigt bra!
The title reminded me of Timothy Treadwell. 😥🥾 🏕 🐻 🕯
