I am making this right now. And checking out RUclips, to see how other Viets of my generation are making it. I like to put in hard boiled eggs to stretch out the meat. And today, I also added reconstituted shiitake mushrooms!
Thank you for sharing this recipe, it’s so delicious! I did pre-boil the pork for 5 minutes to get rid of all the foam that comes out, used more oyster sauce in the marinade and added a splash of rice vinegar. I also pre fried the pork a little, removed from the pan to sauté the shallots and garlic and then retuned it before adding the liquids. Unfortunately I don’t have coconut soda so just used coconut water. The flavor still came out amazing! Thanks again! ❤
Wow, it's been a year old and I just happen to come across your video, my pregnant daughter is requesting for pork ribs and i will definitely make this tomorrow, my coco soda was just delivered. Thanks for sharing....you are so fun to watch, you look like my son and I miss him so much, he is still out on sea duty.
Not sure how the youtube algorithm led me to this video but...this is my favorite dish growing up! not just pork ribs but also with other cuts of pork too.
I am new to your channel, I know this is an old video. But it's still good. I am a RUclips chef with my own channel. I have some short ribs in my refrigerator and I'm thinking about trying to emulate your delicious Vietnamese short rib recipe. I don't know if you're active on RUclips anymore. But we are now friends. I hope I can do as good of a recipe that you did. Please stay connected. Let's say I will try. I do have some other Vietnamese recipes, was in country two times. And I love Vietnamese food. This is just not a dish that I've ever tried. We stay connected.
I made this today, following your video. It was a hit! Thank you so much for making this video!!! I hope to see more Vietnamese childhood favorites from you in the future :)
My 2 favorite fish sauce brand, 3 crabs and Lucky. Grew up with the Thai Lucky fish sauce but when I got older a family friend introduced me to the Vietnamese 3 crab fish sauce and stayed with that brand ever since.
It's refreshing to see a young Vietnamese person cook these traditional Vietnamese dishes, and also including your parents in your videos! Your videos are fun to watch but also full of valuable tips - very clear and straight to the point. Thanks for sharing your recipes. Subscribed!
That really looks very delicious! Thank you so much for this very informative and yummy recipe 😋 I have watched many of your videos with your mom and dad and They're always wonderful and make me so hungry 😋💓 "I ain't got time for that" 😂
Thanks for all of your videos. I am bonding with my parents through cooking some of my childhood favourites! (Ignore the pseudonym - am Vietnamese) Question: can I replace chicken powder with Knoxx chicken cubes?
let me know how it goes! they are very similar recipes, just provide different textures of pork. Although with Suon Kho I like to reduce my liquid to more of a glaze consistency vs Thit Kho where I leave it a little more brothy + add boiled eggs!
It takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on your heat. It’s also up to your preference on how sticky you want the sauce to be. I prefer to have a slightly sticky sauce that’s still liquid enough to spoon over rice!
this will be amazing with boiled eggs! And yes, this is similar to Thit Kho, but you reduce the broth down much further so that you get a delicious concentrated sticky glaze :)
At very beginning (0.34") you have soy sauce as part of your ingredients, when will you have that in and how much? How salty do you want these ribs to be when you have salts, fish sauce, soy sauce, and chicken powder/bullion to marinade the ribs and with 2 tablespoons of caramelized in sugar??? Is this still going to be too salty?
Thank you for sharing. I like the way you explained it is clearly in Details.
I like it when a guy knows his way around the kitchen! :D great video. make your parents proud.
Good work, I can see that you picked up good fundamental skills from your parents. You are going to be an awesome chef!
Thank you man! Yeah they have taught me a lot!

Question: can I replace chicken powder with Knoxx chicken cubes?
That's awesome! Love it. I would recommend just leaving out the chicken powder if you don't have it. Knoxx may overpower the dish.
My daughter 19 along with her cousins. They can’t cook 😁
What do you mean by saying slow af?
I have subscribed. Hope no regrets. I’m a v gd cook myself. Surprises me that the pork ribs Would b tender. In such a short cooking time.
Your future wife will be the happiest one in the world :))
No oil with sugar?
Looks delicious! Will definitely give it a try. What’s the diff between this and Thit Kho?
let me know how it goes! they are very similar recipes, just provide different textures of pork. Although with Suon Kho I like to reduce my liquid to more of a glaze consistency vs Thit Kho where I leave it a little more brothy + add boiled eggs!
So no ginger or lemon grass?
Love this recipe!!! But when did you use the soy sauce?
omg, u have the same oil dispenser we have!
haha love it!
Could I make a reservation for one, please?
Maybe one day!!!
good day to you brother
There’s no timing on how long I cook the pork after I add in the caramel mixture ? Do I just wait for it to get sticky?
It takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on your heat. It’s also up to your preference on how sticky you want the sauce to be. I prefer to have a slightly sticky sauce that’s still liquid enough to spoon over rice!
I can't get Coco Rico soda... What can I substitute with?
You can use coconut water or coconut juice instead!!
Will this be good with boiled eggs ? Is it Kind of like thit kho? But with spare ribs .
this will be amazing with boiled eggs! And yes, this is similar to Thit Kho, but you reduce the broth down much further so that you get a delicious concentrated sticky glaze :)
Cooking water and sugar? No… sugar and oil.
That's our Asian style of cooking. Water and sugar
Cam on. Chia. Mon. Xuon. Hap dan. Qua. Di
wth, never seen a 2L coco rico before!!
me either until I moved to NYC!!!
When did you use the soy sauce?
There is no soy sauce in this recipe, but if you like that taste, I would add it into the chicken marinade!
@@LindaQueLeenda LOL you are so right! I will make a note in the description. Thank you!! :)
Not bad for an ABV
Doing my best out here haha
👍🏼❤️
I’ve never noticed the 2 crabs 1 lobster brand…petty knock off lol. I got to keep my eyes open next time I buy! Lol
👍😋💐🌹😍😘❤️
We come here to see how you cook, not how you cut, and wash the meat. So cut it short, prep the ingredients, don’t waste people time
Looks good, but your familys secret recipe has been released decades before this video lol
Every family has a secret recipe before any video has been released..

Where can I get a man who can cook? 😂😭🥲
