You can't buy a £90000 car for £4000 and not expect to spend, fact. These cars still warrant a rich man's pocket to maintain them. If you only have Ford Mondeo money to fix it ,when goes wrong (and it will!) Look to less high end vehicles that are more straight forward and cheaper to put right! 😊
😂😂 can totally relate to this. Mines on axle stands as we speak. Shit your pants time when you hear the dreaded bong from the dash, instantly thinking “ How much cash is it going to be this time “
I sell parts for Range Rovers (amongst other brands). These and the P38 are the two biggest money pits on the roads. Why anyone would want one is beyond me, but I'm glad they do as it keeps me in work. Hateful things.
Bought a brand new Range Rover the publicity showed it going over mountains thru deep frozen streams etc etc - suspension went within 3 months after going over a slight pot hole in a normal tar mac road - phoned Range Rover after 2 weeks it was eventually collected they said it was my fault for abusing the vehicle but they fixed and “done me a favour” - sold it after a year lv never lost so much out of a vehicle
Modern range rovers are pavement and garage princesses. Land rovers were monsters off road until they stopped using a chassis-body system and solid axles. I have hit potholes in my disco 1 that with any other modern car would instantly bottom the shocks out and shatter your bones (slight over-exaggeration) and my trusty D1 barely felt it. Modern day land rovers are only really meant to be "palaces" on wheels and not much else.
Oh my, I had mine do that and it was painful to drive along the road. Turned out to be a hole in the front air bag and the compressor couldn’t keep the pressure in the system, but I laughed when your were driving it. I was doing exactly the same thing.

Bought a 2019 Toyota Landcruiser 2.8 D-4D Invincible It was a nightmare from about 7K miles .... multiple problems going into limb mode when towing 2 ton trailer off road uphill resulted in numerous visit to dealers 3 exhaust filters 2 engines @ 28K miles I got rid of it when 2 nd replacement engine lost power from continuous limb mode when towing up hill. In my experience there's good & bad in every modern vehicle, just hope you stay lucky with your Grenadier. My most reliable towing off road vehicle in last 10 years PHEV Mitsubishi 4x4 , it's never went wrong in 170k miles 🤠 But I still have a soft spot for a TDV8 range rover 🇬🇧🤗

I feel for you I’ve got 3 range rovers they all eat batteries within days one day the dash goes from English to German the dash is forever saying there’s a fault. Now I just ignore the messages and carry my Hawkeye diagnostic and just reset all the faults. Very troublesome cars but I love them
Very funny video 😂 very similar to my experience with a discovery td5,costs me approximately £7000 in various repairs and had to be towed home numerous times, had enough and sold it to a guy who took it to the Ukraine to help them in the war, i pity the soldiers who were given it😂
I have had 5 Range rovers and only problem I ever had was the heater matrix in a p38 every car breaks down and Range rovers are no different they are in a class of there own driving them though
@ 24:20 "Bad earth" is a thing to be aware of. You check it with a proper starter cable. Easy to fix, but can cause loads of trouble. Earth cable between engine/gearbox and chassis needs to be changed after 10-15 years. And _SURPRICE_ that can happen to any car. I do own a 3.6 TDV8 FF Range Rover. One of the best cars I've ever owned. 270 000 km on the clock.
my black 3.0 is perfect no problems at all, only thing that don't work it the sunroof and its done 164000 miles its got a 2012 front end with HID lights I'm well happy
I love the snarky commentary. Some friends of a friend bought a range rover, I guess to make themselves look cool, and had to spend a fortune on it for engine faults etc! They may look down on my MG SUV but I'm the one who's been laughing.
1:10 - The truth of it right there. If all you can afford is a mondeo priced Range Rover, buy the Mondeo. Big complex cars come with big complex parts, all old cars break, and people sell cars when they start seeing big bills, and sensible people know there are more on the way....
although I do agree that range rovers are a headache in that sense any car has flaws the 211 Mercedes has SBC block flaw toyotas rust bmw 4.4 biturbo tends to melt in the heat etc etc.....nice video though
Great video! I feel your pain, although not with a RR but with a BMW (aka Big Money Waste). I was contemplating getting a RR but you may turn out to be the best salesman for Toyota.
Dont forget the only sort of 4z4 Honda did the C.RV. mark 1 or 2 great cars and I mean great good off road and so so tough better than most in my humble opinion !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just wanted to say that the Range Rover L322 is no different to any other vehicle. Maintain it and it will last, abuse them and it will cost you. Clarkson has one and raves about it stating and I quote " the best range rover ever built" I have the 4.4 tdv8 which is beautiful to drive and surprisingly good on fuel. I'm not going to lie, parts are expensive but the one I have would've been £60,000 plus new. All I will say is make up your own mind. Great video btw 😁👍
I love this video 😂 The reliability issues are basically just god punishing people for owning pointless cars and wearing far too much make up and fake leapard print! You're an exception. Land rover fans defend the quirks and faults, on the old ones they defend the fact that the steering is worn out and call it normal. But really who needs a 4 ton vanity wagon? I think there should just be a limited mileage law on gas guzzlers, although logistically it's impossible etc, I mean if you have a big family and live on a farm it's different. I'd prefer this to banning IC engines.
I love my HSE BMW 4.4 but these rovers were a lot of money when new and also a lot to maintain, if you change the trans fluid and filter every other year and engine oil there reliable, you can buy Chinese airbags cheap, there not the best but I've had them on for 2 years with no problems, there amazing to drive, and go like a sob, its a love hate relationship
What a genius this was wonderfully entertaining these cars are a true money pit unless you are oh so lucky to have a good one but these are like hens teeth to find

This video was recommended in my playlist, so I had to watch! Never owned one but always wanted one.....but will never buy one basically because as you have really, entertainingly pointed out, they really are a freaking nightmare. Even with some basic mechanic skills it is still a pig of a car. Such a shame because it really does look stunning and the comfort is so good. Maybe, just maybe the clue is in your baseball hat. Buy a German car ;-)
Had my 2007 l322 3.6tdv8 as my daily driver for 2.5 years, had 135,000 best car i have ever had and also my worsed. Got 20mpg round town. 25mpg on motorway. Trouble is you need to get one with full history and that has been looked after. If no service history you are asking for trouble. That said it did cost 7k in maitinace in the time i owned it. Would i have another hell yes. At 130,000 the turbos will more than likely go, so if you get a high milage one make sure the turbos have been changed and also the inlet manifolds, they worp as made of plastic.
