Summer band camp, the summer before my high school freshman year, the director asked me to be his bari sax player. I said cool! He handed me an old, beaten horn. I was a bit dismayed, but it was fairly serviceable. On the first day of the regular school year, he handed me a brand new bari. i was in heaven!

I was a band geek, and the bari sax was my instrument. Thank you for restoring such a beautiful instrument!

A great deal of work. You mentioned the fact that some projects "deserve" the additional work. I hope the client acknowledges the additional effort. You are a good man. 👍

I just bought a late 1930’s Zephyr bari and I’m totally amazed how well it plays. I did the whole setup on it so everything works as it should. The sound is terrific and it subtones effortlessly to low Bb.

Your work is great, I've recommended you to a friend who has a damaged trumpet, but he's trying some DIY repairs first

Just FYI, "Hard Rubber" was an early (pre-Bakelite) plastic type material, and like like most other plastics it firmly retained its molded shape and had to be cut with a saw. It was frequently used in electrical products, until superior materials became available in the 1930s.

I could say my school bari that I'm currently using needs replacing of tension needles/springs and some key adjustments

So somebody whacked it hard for a bend and so you whack it hard to unbend. There are so many parts and steps, definitely eye opening.

Great video c: I just started on my first sax overhaul, hopefully I don’t mess up the pads too bad but that’s why I got the cheap ones( I know they’re bad but it’s a Chinese tenor anyway)

I've been curious after starting to watch your videos, how many of your tools are custom made? Do you have a list of your favorite custom tools?

Thanks for watching. Yes, I have made many tools over the years. I would not even know where to start to compile a list like that. But, I will try and come up with a video showing some of them sometime .
