  • Japanese potato salad is bit different to western ones.
    It typically has ham, cucumber, and boiled eggs.

      Very interesting potato salad, I'll be making it as soon as I can. My favorite has always been north German style (potato, apple, gherkin, gherkin juice, parsley, chives)

    I can't get over just how incredible the shots are, even such little things like the water bowl, you somehow manage to make it all look beautiful. I'll be making this salad tomorrow, it seems perfect for the current weather. :-)

      Yeah I usually wash and wipe the glass bowls every single time I use it.
      So making sure no finger print or anything.

    I boil my potatoes whole with the skin on and when they are cooked I peel off the skin easily and then chop the potato. I keep mine fairly easy with mayonnaise, mustard, and green onion with salt and pepper. Sometimes I add in an onion powder that I make from dehydrated and powdered green onions, leeks, chives, white onions, and garlic and sometimes I add in hard cooked eggs. I used to add in more ingredients but I like it more simple now.

    hi chef! so many wonderful recipes from you these past few years. Can i ask why you used additional oil and started with the garlic before bacon and onion? From my study my method would have been to render the fat from the bacon, toss in the onion, the finish with the garlic at the end. is there a reason for doing this process in reverse? I love learning how different flavors are made from the difference in process between cultures and techniques. Thanks for a seperate vid of this recipe, Ive made it so many times since you included it in your teriyaki salmon video.

      Hi emvv!!
      The reason I used the oil in the beginning is to make garlic oil.
      And we can cook the bacon and onion with the garlic aroma.
      But you can cook the way you wrote too!!
      It's totally no problem!!😎👍
      You know what ?
      If you have a chance, cook both version!!
      Cook half with my recipe, and cook the other half with the way you wrote👀
      I'll be very curious about the result, so please let me know if you try it!!😉👍

    I noticed you peeled the egg under running water, does it make any difference?
    Potato is one of the most universal vegetables here in Europe, you can make them almost a 100 different ways.

      Doing so it's easier for the peels to slip off, and to get rid of little pieces of shell that may stick to the egg
