- Hans brought out his Jeep Cherokee XJ riding on 31 inch tires and also sporting a rear locker and front winch bumper. Hans's XJ was a great demo to show off how capable a mildly built XJ with 31s can be. James and his red Jeep Wrangler JKU on 33 inch tires also came out to the Where2Wheel Proving Grounds today, and James showed us how a small bump up in tire size on the Wrangler can make a huge difference in off road capability. Let's go wheeling!

I have XJ with 3 inch lift and 31s and I go where big boys go. 🙂

I have a stock height xj with 235/75/15's. Over this last weekend I went where the 6 inch lift guys were going. I do have front and rear lockers tho so... my little mountain goat just flat goes.
as someone that owns *and* off-roads a zj v8 on 30", tj on 30" stt pro rear locker, xj on 33" bfg km2, xj on 35" mickey thompson baja mtz locked front and rear, i can tell you there is a huge difference in capability, NO comparison.
however, with good line choice, good aggressive tread, and lots of determination, the stock jeep with aggressive 30" tires are very impressive.
picking a the best line is the most important thing you can do. Having good aggressive tread is the most cost effective upgrade, and lockers make a mind blowing difference
Well I guess they are I just did the Rubicon in 31s it wasn't easy but I did it.

Are those 31s on the stock XJ wheels or are those different?
Would be cool to see a huge Suburban off roading. I plan on making my GMT800 Suburban my overland vehicle. I have a GMT900 swb Yukon 4x4 as well. I had a WJ but a punk decided to steal it before his extended stay in prison.
I can’t hate because it’s not your fault where you live the terrain is flat but I feel bad you don’t have true off road trails
