I believe With a Mind to Kill actually makes The Man With the Golden Gun a better book. It takes what was essentially a first draft and fleshes it out fantastically. Very well done.

Fantastic interview. Horowitz is so enthusiastic for Bond and Fleming. It’s really inspiring to hear him.

He's said at the time of the hardback release 3 books is enough for him as it completes his trilogy [set before, during and after Fleming] and [as always] he has many other projects ongoing [the 'afterword' in the book underlines this]. As he says in the interview he was vey grateful to be asked to do a second and third books rather than the one-off deal like the previous 'guest' authors.

What an enjoyable interview with Mr. Horowitz! He is one of my favorite contemporary writers. I haven’t read With a Mind to Kill yet but just put it on hold at the library. Excellent interview as always.
There is just no one in our community better at interviewing people connected to
the world of James Bond than you.
You always ask absolutely everything any of us would want you to ask!
When I saw the notification for this I first thought...
Wow did Anthony Horowitz write a new Bond book that I did not know about?!
    But nope...lol
    It's ok -
I think this was his best novel as well as probably the best Bond story written since Fleming himself -
so I'll happily watch him talk about it once again!
I'm sad that he is not doing any more - but his contribution to the Bond cannon will be read and enjoyed by fans for many years to come.
His Alex Rider books are also sensational and I would recommend them to any Bond fan.
Like the Harry Potter series, these are timeless books for all ages - and Bond fans especially will really appreciate what he did with this young 007 inspired secret agent.
He is just a brilliant writer -
Even his Sherlock Holmes books are great!

Horowitz himself has said Eon only have the rights to Fleming's material. But given the next film will probably cover some origin stuff again it certainly gave another way to do this which would be different to Casino Royale [My guessing is they'll take 'The Batman's' approach-Bond is already a 007 for a couple of years but still has room to grow as a character].

I’ve always said: the true answer to the question: who is James Bond is that he is a fanaticised reflection of Ian Fleming himself. In these novels all the new writers job was to find that. Anthony Horowitz definitely did.

Anthony Horowitz knocked Bond out of the park with his three novels. He proved pastiche can also be original while channeling Fleming. Higson tried to knock pastiche in your interview with him, but Horowitz gets Bond a lot moreso than Higson.
