What happened on the 80km on the bike 43 kph average not what we were seeing on the course not even close ,
Jan certainly built a formidable palmares but can we please set aside the talk of him being the GOAT. He has half the Ironman wins of both Mark Allen and Dave Scott. If he were on par with them we could begin the conversation, but that will never happen.
Javier Gomez and Alistair Brownlee have over 90% head to head record against Jan Frodeno. Only age grouper can consider Jan Frodeno better than Javi and Ali. Gomez won 5 ITU world titles, finished over 40 times at WTS podium and combined 30+ WTS + world cup (pre 2009) wins + Javi won 2 70.3 WC titles by beating Frodo without barely training on non- drafting bike. Ali won 22 WTS races and 2 Olympic gold medals. Yeah Frodo finished his last 5 years of his career stronger than both Ali and Javi with 3 KONA titles but it is not making him better triathlete than somebody who dominated sport for almost 15 years. Javier Gomez was racing generations of Docherty& Rana, Kemper&Khalefeld, Germans Petzold/Frodeno/Unger, than Brownlees, than Mola/Murray, than Blu/ Iden and actually he beat all of them except Ali Brownlee in top form
