Peter content is always awesome but been looking back at old videos and one thing i noticed is since you have switched your putting grip your not as consistent. What lead to the change in the first place?
Peter Finch, please watch this: ruclips.net/video/5MuIMqhT8DM/видео.html Don't be offended by the first 1 minute! I'm just trying to encourage you to get that sleep schedule balanced.
Brian Smith not saying it is shit but personally I have seen in the videos the putts longer than say 10 feet he made more consistently or was closer than he does using the “claw” grip.
A psychologist once emailed me about how I talk to myself in my mountain bike videos when I'm trying to do something hard. She observed that I'd always use my name and talk to myself directly when I was upset with what I was doing and that would only exacerbate my negative mindset. I've since been way nicer to myself and it improved my mentality while riding....and also playing golf! You seem to be disappointed with most of the outcomes here, but I wonder what would happen if you gave yourself a pat on the back. 🙂
I did the exact same thing! Changed my comments to myself from what I did wrong, to what I did right. Also, I focused on where TO hit my ball (a safe shot), instead of where not to (i.e. the hazard). My game didn't improve very much stroke-wise, but my enjoyment sky rocketed.
That's right! It's called "negative self-talk" and many many people do it without even realizing the negative impacts. I'm glad you were able to change your habits and it's worked out for you!
I’m sure these are so hard and cumbersome for you to film. Rest assured that it does not go unappreciated! These are incredibly entertaining and I’m sure I’m not alone in my appreciation for videos like these. Great stuff, Peter!
@@peterfinchgolf you're a better golfer than I! I have never really mastered hitting a driver off the deck. Although I am 63 now, I stopped carrying a driver. I have a 13° 3 wood instead. It's my "fairway finder!"
Only played my first ever 18 holes in July and shot my best round ever yesterday of 95, sounds silly but the fact I had so many awful putts and chips but came away with my best ever score is actually making me so positive that I can improve so much in not a long time. Golf has grabbed me during lockdown and not letting go. Currently not handicapped but we will get there soon!
Very impressive Pete. I can only imagine that filming for the channel which is much appreciated for the great content doesn't help your game much. So I am pretty sure being able to focus completely on every shot without having to worry about camera angles and everything else that goes into making great videos would certainly lower your handicap even more. I absolutely love your channel and in my opinion you have the best golf you tube channel out there. Good luck in all your future rounds of golf my friend.
As a child I used to visit my grandparents who lived in the tiny little village there, long before the hotel and course existed. It was beautiful then and still is (in a different way) I've been itching to play there, but I doubt they would approve of me hacking the countryside to bits 🤣🏌️♂️
I did this Peter. I stopped playing golf back in 2003 and remained as a pro up until 2016 when I gained my amateur status back. Picked up my old T/made RAC’s and joined a Alton GC in Hants. (Braid designed course). My 1st handicap again was 7. I’m now Ping iBlade fitted & exact is 4.4 in post lockdown 2020. Aiming for 3 or below by 2022.
If you were filming yourself then that takes away a percentage of focus that most of us can utilise when scoring for a handicap. That plus your negative mental state adds up to a lot of shots, so don't beat yourself up mate😍🥰
Played both courses last year and was very impressed. Shot level par round the Nicklaus, celebrated with far too many beers and had a nightmare around the Cheshire the next morning. Cracking set up at Carden Park, hope you enjoy it Pete!
Go easy on yourself Pete and remember a bad days golfing is better than the best day at work...with that just remember to go out there and have fun(will take the pressure off you with that mindset too). Kind regard from Australia
Love watching your vids Pete! Don’t beat your self up so much, you are a top golfer with thousands of followers who love to watch your vids. Keep and going and as you said.. stop thinking and just smash it!
Enjoyed that Pete. Fair play for putting yourself in the open like that. You didn't seem to get any putts to drop and looks like it was just the lack of local knowledge on the greens. Its a massive advantage to know where on a green to play towards to leave ourselves the best chance of a birdie putt which you didn't have on a course you don't play week in week out so to get those scores deffo deserves some credit.
I love see you (and Rick) doing videos about how you play and you course strategy. I find it especially beneficial seeing how you deal with the bad shots, and what tactics you employ to recover. You and Rick should do one of these together, showing your different approaches to the same holes
Great stuff as always. Your videos, as well as Rick Shields, help me feel like I can still be part of the game. When I stopped playing golf (Health Reasons) I had an 12 Handicap.
The power of positivity makes all things possible, you are a brilliant golfer and on top of that an awesome You Tuber...focus on the positives my friend!
Currently 16 Pete gave the game up 15 years ago started back wen on furlough in march joined a lovely course vale of llangollen just started playing comps again. Playing OK but I have one or two card wreckers per game.. Great videos bud
Really enjoyed that video, used to use the practice facilities at Carden as a junior. Some 20 years ago. Started playing again 4 months ago after said 20 yr break, just doing my handicap again which is currently 0.7. Live up the road from there. If you want a knock shout out.
I love your positive attitude Pete. After a very tough time in my life I struggle to stay positive especially on the golf course and especially when I am hitting the odd shank. Keep it up mate (I’m an Aussie).
if you want a course with a view, go and play the Church Stretton golf course in Shropshire, about an hour away from Carden Park. With good weather its incredible!
16 in September. Up from 13 during March thru May 2020. Thanks to Florida keeping golf open during Covid Lockdown. The summer humidity I've noticed effecting the ball and scoring conditions.
Superb video 👍 Great to see how it went over a sustained period of time. I love seeing how things work over eighteen holes. It’s so so different to a three or four hole stint.
Another great installment, I always like to see a new one pop into my queue. Gotta say man, you're super hard on yourself. I totally get that at your level, 2 strokes lost in a round can feel like a lot, but I think you have more.than enough ability to keep your "handicap" on the positive side. I imagine that you edit hours and hours of film to make a video like this, but what stood out to me was, of the shots that you seemed to talk through in detail, you hit them all perfectly. Thanks again. Looking forward to the next one!
Love this video. I've toyed with the idea of trying to establish a handicap but never seem to be too bothered to try. May need to do this next season. Keep up the amazing content
Pete, please just talk through all of your strokes. For us, it’s so useful to see your swing thoughts or your visualization. But more importantly, it’s so impactful on your game. Your wedge game got so much better when coach yourself into your stroke.
Hey Pete, not sure if you've already done this or not ( I'm fairly new to your channel), but i think a lot of us would love to watch a video where you explain how much power you put into your swings from certain distances with different clubs as well as how to properly swing to put a spin on the ball. I've only been golfing for a few months so I would love to see what's going through your mind before each shot you take, cheers from Canada!

@@dave6012 you missed the point...Finch would have to give Shiels 3 a side...I know you were referring to vid quality and production...I was inferring it was border line insult to compare the two...One can play and one cannot.
Great Video. I started 2020 under the new WHS as just under a 15. After a fair amount of practice, lessons, and of course a lot of rounds, I ended at 7.6. The lowest for the year was just 7.3. The 8 out of your last 20 sure factors. At one point 6 of my best 8 were in my last 10 rounds. So a string of great play sure helped. Then when that fell off, I had a buffer to find it again! Personal best btw is +5 from the tips. Cheers!
Love the vid Pete! Congrats on the handicap it looks pretty nice! Keep having fun and if you're having a bad round, the clubhouse will always have a pint for ya!!
Good to see you play my home course. Don’t beat yourself up over +3 on the Cheshire course if it’s the first time you’ve played it. That’s my best score back in 1999 when I had time to play a bit more often than 7 times a year. You should have played it when it was a really tough course. They had a Challenge event round there and only 1 pro broke par at -1 .
You are looking well Peter. I hope that is a result of better sleep. We all try to shoot as low as we can on any given day. It's when our self-esteem is based on how well we do that the pressure builds and is a negative force upon our performance. There is no place for ego on the golf course, it generally humbles us all on most days. BTW I am a 25 or thereabout and play for the exercise, relaxation, and camaraderie.
good vid. I've been handicap for our work golf society and used the World system. I think it works well and gives a pretty true reflection. Getting enough scorecards in is an issue but there is a sliding scale.
The Nicklaus Course is genuinely one of the best courses I’ve ever played - the 17th is the first par 4 I’ve ever driven in 1, and it’s a beautiful view!

Think it might be around 8. Was two under for 10 holes last night though, so maybe it's improving. Last medal of the year is 10th Oct! Great vid again. Keep up the cracking content.
You hit driver off the deck more than anyone I've ever seen! Is that something to would actually do in tournament play, or more of a RUclips style of play, Mr. Peter Finch? Either way is incredible! I've never had the guts to even try it! Guaranteed to hit it fat or top it myself! Love the videos here in the U.S. and such gorgeous countryside! So jealous! Played Chesire course first course after lockdown, still pretty new to golf and was knackered by the about 10 holes in but those last like 4 holes are things of beauty!!
Great video Pete, love the course vlogs and would love to see more of these! I currently don't have a handicap, and its always the go to question anyone goes to when you say you play golf, and i say, i play for the enjoyment and to play the best i can whilst having the most fun! I would love to eventually join a club and get one when i have the time!
Hi Peter, I absolutely love your content. Since we now go out of season, perhaps take on a project of picking a mid-range golfer and make videos about how to improve his game. When the new season arrives, do a few follow-ups on the progress that has been made with your help throughout the off-season? I don't want to come across bossy, it's just an idea :)
Great content! & really nicely put together - thanks! You mentioned when you start thinking about your handicap you start overthinking.... SO TRUE!! Recently joined a club & to be accepted I have to submit 3 cards... (been round previously, scores ranging from 89-105, depends which me turns up). First card, and my golf fell apart. Stupid decisions & not doing the basics right! Wish me luck for tomorrow and card 2...
I highly recommend continuing to focus the camera shot on the divot off first the tee. It really sets the tone and makes folks with handiicaps >+1.9 feel better.
I’m curious how long does it take you to play a full 18 while filming? I know a normal round for me is in the 4 hr range. Can’t imagine filming my round it must add so much time. Give you tons of credit keep up the good content. Love the courses
I remember playing the Cheshire Course years and years ago, there's something beautiful about the 17th and 18th, the 17th with the trees to the left and the 18th tee shot.....I'd absolutely LOVE to be lucky enough to play a round of golf with you on there (very hopeful like). Don't even have a handicap but I think I'm about 14/15. Love your videos!
I live just down the road from Carden, love both courses. Shame I can't go there at this moment in time with lockdown, but I love seeing the hotel up on the hill when you drive in and out
As my handicap is only going up atm 😭 from 12.5 - 13.9 in two seasons. I've changed Club and the slope rating is higher but it's all down to being very inconsistent off the tee. Looking forward to more content from Carden Park not far from me I'll have to get up and play both courses
I live in Cheshire and it is always raining from September to March, loving the vids Pete 👌. Give yourself a break some times mate your an amazing player.
Really great vlog, Pete. The way you think round the course to save Par, is exactly how I think to save Bogey. But how do I eliminate the 1 bad shot I play on every hole ??
Wow, beautiful course. Loved watching you struggle, I mean play through that mess of prettiness. I get golfed on pretty hard myself, mainly for lack of talent, but I love to play.
Putting like I have been. I can’t seem to buy a putt from outside 5-feet lately. I’m starting a big transition change in my swing as the season ends and we start to move indoors for the winter, so I’m sure I’ll be completely lost come spring 😂
Currently off 10 and have been for a fair while, floated between that and 8 but expect to be an 11 next week, struggling of late each round with a few holes of silly mistakes and battling to make 30 points, looking to turn a corner sooner than later 🤞
Great video Pete. I've been hoping you would do more with Arrcos, as I seem to remember you mentioning them in your Build My Bag series. Now that you aren't playing comps, perhaps we could see a video from you using them, and analyzing the data after a few rounds.

Played Chesire course first course after lockdown, still pretty new to golf and was knackered by the about 10 holes in but those last like 4 holes are things of beauty!!
Yes cracking holes
I recently joined Cavendish GC on a playmore golf membership. You'll be pleased to know our clubhouse is still standing Pete 😉
I’m curious how long does it take you to play a full 18 while filming? I know a normal round for me is in the 4 hr range. Can’t imagine filming my round it must add so much time. Give you tons of credit keep up the good content. Love the courses
Swings looking really good Pete
Love the effort you put in the videos and your content. Some fantastic videos this year and this is another 👏🏻
I remember playing the Cheshire Course years and years ago, there's something beautiful about the 17th and 18th, the 17th with the trees to the left and the 18th tee shot.....I'd absolutely LOVE to be lucky enough to play a round of golf with you on there (very hopeful like). Don't even have a handicap but I think I'm about 14/15. Love your videos!
I live just down the road from Carden, love both courses. Shame I can't go there at this moment in time with lockdown, but I love seeing the hotel up on the hill when you drive in and out
Thanks for the great video Pete! Loved it!
As my handicap is only going up atm 😭 from 12.5 - 13.9 in two seasons. I've changed Club and the slope rating is higher but it's all down to being very inconsistent off the tee. Looking forward to more content from Carden Park not far from me I'll have to get up and play both courses
Music is spot on, as well as the visuals. Cheers mate.
I am a 14 handicap and love ur videos.
Well done Pete! Great video again! Thanks for great content
really enjoyed the video - not being able to play much at the moment, it was great to see the course, looked beautiful :)
At least you’re honest! Hats off
Thanks Pete for a another fun video
Wow, beautiful course. Loved watching you struggle, I mean play through that mess of prettiness. I get golfed on pretty hard myself, mainly for lack of talent, but I love to play.
Keep it going man, really enjoy your videos and I'm not even golfing currently.
The Cheshire course looks lush. The holes are unique. Would love to play it.
Hey Peter, love your videos, you have such a positive attitude, keep up the great videos.
Love the vids! especially 2 drivers off the deck shots. Keep them coming
Great video Pete. I've been hoping you would do more with Arrcos, as I seem to remember you mentioning them in your Build My Bag series. Now that you aren't playing comps, perhaps we could see a video from you using them, and analyzing the data after a few rounds.
