- In this video I head to Royal Liverpool (Hoylake) and try to beat Tiger's Open Score in 2006 but using his modern day golf clubs.
Big thank you to Royal Liverpool for having me down. I loved the course and the changes which have been made.

THANK YOU FOR WATCHING! Always appreciate the fact you share your time with me ❤️
Simply great quality content, informative, nice little visuals and a buttery smooth swing and finish. What’s not to love?!
One of my favourite ones yet. Quality work as usual 👌. Absolutely love the channel mate. A think you should do it again with a different open venue and another pros bag who has won it in the past 😁
That was so much like jumpers for goalposts in the park. I was willing that last putt in the hole. Nice one Pete. ❤️ ⛳
Great video Pete, love the angles and commentary! What a round...
Great video Pete. How do you find out about the open qualifying competitions? Would love to do it one day.
You know you are watching a Euro guy when it's cloudy, looks like it going to rain, in long sleeves and he says "The weather is PERFECT!" lol
Spain etc is pretty warm and sunny. The UK in general is a wet nation with loads of clouds, but then we are an island so condensation and precipitation is expected
@@UnseenSpirit eh, dont know about an island expecting wet weather all the time... hawaii, keys, and basically florida all have a ton of sunshine most of the time.
@@--RSL-- When the island is this far off the equator you can bet your bottom dollar that its wet
Lol this a golf channel not a geography lesson
Your mom is very sad that she has been so much fun it was not working properly and she
Tiger’s just ordered himself some Pete irons
😂
I got 420 likes
Pete irons 😅
“The imaginary open Pete, calm down” 😂😂
I was getting way too into it 😂
@@peterfinchgolf I've had a lot of putts on the last green to win imaginary opens. And the power of imagination, especially as a kid, gets the knees knocking.
Peter Finch Golf we’ve all been there
Sitting here watching Pete play amazing golf and wondering why he would ever stray from those irons. Hits them so well and knows EXACTLY how far they go.
Absolutely slaying with that putter as well.
Joking aside, 6 under on that course is quite impressive!
I was pretty happy, makes such a huge difference putting like that
@@peterfinchgolf When are we going to see you on Tour? :D
Ruined the vid for me
Yup instantly ruined
Kian Dennis don’t read the comments before you watch the video
Can we all just take a moment to respect the fact that Pete shot 6 under at an Open Championship course?! Bloody hell that’s impressive. Best part overall was your upbeat and positive attitude the entire time. Just looked like you were psyching yourself up, talking through each shot, and keeping that positive juju flowing. Top notch, mate 👏
Idea for a video: Play an Open course with clubs from that year’s winner. Would be really cool to hear your take on playing St. Andrews with Tiger’s bag from 2000, or any other past champ for that matter
I think that’s the best I’ve seen you play Pete. Well done you smashed Tiger 😂, and every right to be happy with yourself. 👍🏼
“Not turning up just before his tee time shooting b roll” 🤣🤣 really great video mate
Best part is seeing play with a smile and a laugh, you could walk the quest with that approach. Keep smiling, be happy, avoid clubhouses. J :)
The way you and Rick are both striking the ball at the moment calls for a challenge Pete.
Somehow missed this one. One of the most enjoyable pure golf you tube moments. Like us all... winning an imaginary tournament and beating Tiger. Legendary, my friend 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So when are you playing Rick? He doesn’t stand a chance 😂. Incredible play Pete!
Pete escaped from the circus where he was once a tiger tamer!! 😂
Lol
I absolutely loved this video Pete. I love all your videos but this was somehow even more really special.
The pace of the video, the format, the music and of course the golf 😍 so so good!
You've made my 12 weeks shielding a little more bearable. Thank you!
How well you play when you are chilled and clearly having too much fun. Channel your inner Tiger all the time :-)
Pete, a couple of years ago I commented to one of your Quest for the Open vlogs and told you that I had time travelled to 2020 and saw you win the open. Sorry buddy, this must have been what I saw.
😂
"I've achieved nothing here today, like nothing." Played better than what 80% of us have ever done in our lives.
Keep it up Pete love ya work
80%? So 20% of all players break par? lol
@@maxxsee you want him to do the analytics? I think you know what he is saying.
@@mattmah7901 aha you mean this video is the open that never was for 2020? I rockened he made comments like ' this is gonna look great on tv' that he meant when the open was aired. i'm not british i don't get all your jokes lol
99.9% more like
Ollie Cooper exactly
Amazing Pete! Please include this type of content! I love learning how you work your way around a course! This challenge certainly frames that work with some context. Really loved it!
The best vids of you and Rick are hands down when you guys are playing your best golf. This was fun to watch, drive for show and putt for dough
The course looks amazing, love the drone clips showing the course from overhead, really beautiful :)
Dang Pete . Good playing mate. Maybe you could have a round or two like that on open qualifying. that would definitely get you in :)
Really cool seeing you push yourself and play quality golf!
Really, really enjoyed this video Pete. Love how seriously you were taking it, especially toward the end! Well played too, great round.
PETE!!!! love how you said " come on Pete it's only imaginary", lol. I don't care either, please send me and autographed hat glove and 8x10 photo!!!!! Seriously that was an awesome round, best I've seen you play, great course management.
Am psyched to watch this... Neat idea, and a belated, "good luck!"
Love the Messi analogy. So far you are ripping it!
Congratulations...made up or not, that was awesome!
Great video. Absolutely love watching em. Hopefully Tiger watches it and ask for a match.
That was great fun to watch, this type of video is my favorite. Thanks Pete & keep 'em coming.
"Who knew, about Bridgestone balls..." Clearly Tiger :)
Incidentally, I personally have enjoyed hitting Bridgestone Golf Balls more than others... Even some PRO V1s I managed to find around the course :)
Well Rick reviewed that ball a few days ago, so lots of us....
@@marcsimmonds5483 Well.. NOW we do :) But prior to that? :)
My hayfever flared up just watching that opening drone footage. Thoroughly enjoyed that video regardless of the sneezing.
An excellent video, it is a real pleasure to see you hitting the ball so well and enjoying yourself. Please keep this format going. Thanks.
this is a top notch golf video. I hope you do more like this in the future. This was cool blend between action and teaching.
Yeeesssssss - just watched the end!!!! Legend!
The Imagination Open has to be a thing now... Next challenge take on Greg Norman in the 1993 Open Championship at Royal St George's.
That was great Peter! What an awesome round! I am seriously impressed with your game! Watched for a while and I can see how much you have improved even through the quarantine! A testament to your work ethic and attitude! Well done mate!!
Hello, 6 under at royal Liverpool. Amazing result and good for the quest for the open. If you can shoot this score here there’s no reason you shouldn’t qualify. You got this Petey Boy. 👍👍
Love the channel mate!
Thank you 🙏
Wth everybody commenting the same thing and Pete loving it everytime ,that’s funny 😂🤣 You should start playing in local tournaments for us to be proud of you ;) I wanna see this game carry to the tournaments. Also you should arrange a match with Kyle Berkshire :)
This video made me so genuinely happy. We’re recovering from a bout with sickness in the house so I can’t necessarily get out and play, but watching you play a round while I eat my lunch during a break at work has brightened my day. Great hitting and thanks for the vids!
Please do more videos like this! They are so fun to watch and we get sucked in with you. Rooting for Finch!! #USA4Finch
“Sat up like a coconut” is that a Manchester saying😂
Congrats Pete 👏🏻. When you started Quest for the open I never thought you’d actually win it 🤪
😂
All I need it a time machine
What a great video from start to finish. Edge of your seat kind of stuff. Glad to see your past the injuries Pete or finding a way around them. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Love the video Peter, would like to see you take on more challenges like this where you try to beat winning scores from majors/tour competitions even if its with your clubs!
You've improved pal. You been getting lessons off that Rick Shiels fella? 😂😂
Who’s better tho???🤔🤔😯
@@colladclipz6623 Pete hands down
I was there that day, I remember being on my dads shoulders aged 8 watching Tiger and Sergio, so cool!
Pete, that was class! A real insight into how the subconscious works - as it doesn’t know the difference between something that is “real” or “imagined”, hence why you get those excited almost nervous feelings when achieving something like that. Well played - Shaun
Just read this comment thinking yep, completely agree. Then I saw the name at the end of the comment... then the username... then I was like, holy shit I was just in Sheffield cheering you on in the second session of this year’s final! You probably won’t see this, but I’m still gonna say it, commiserations on losing out. I much preferred your game to Mark’s. But when someone hell-bent on playing a scrappy, safety game, it’s hard to get chances to knock in centuries. Hopefully you go one better next year! Probably see you at Ally Pally before that though. All the best 👊🏼
So your quest to qualify for the genuine Open looks well within range now. Fantastic video. I’d have missed that last putt for sure. Mind you I’d have been 19 over by then not 19 under.

“Two puts to win the open!” ....Imaginary open Pete calm down 😂😂😂
I was remembering when you, Rick, and Andy played there and how much I laughed during the skins/buys dinner back 9. That horse shoe putt while Andy is on the floor cracking up lol. Classic. You're playing great Pete. Keep it up. Cheers!
Man, you are so humble about your golf skills. It's a pleasure to watch
My kids call me a pro. I shot 79 with them yesterday. We can all dream.
Pete escaped from the circus where he once was a tiger tamer... Brilliant..
Copied
This is a nice concept playing golf courses and walking us through the holes. Good lesson in golf course management too. It’s something different. Keep it up!
Playing Royal Liverpool for the first time today and watched this video 4 times over the last few days for my course research. Love it Pete! 👍🏻
As said by tiger himself (1:03), he's been using a bridgestone made ball since 2000.

I'm going to use irons off every tee. *fourth hole in* where's my driver?
Great video Pete. Really captured my attention at each hole. New idea.... Try to beat Tiger's second round at St. Andrews in the 2000 Open. He shot 66!
Excellent work, I see the methodical approach you have and the practice on every shot
"Today, I'm going to try to beat him with his own clubs...' Sounds like a quote from Tiger's ex-wife.
This is my favorite video I’ve seen on your channel! Loved the format and even found myself fist pumping when you birdied! 👊🏼
Love this style of video Pete! A course vlog with some commentary and club info. Perfect combo!
Pete escaped from the circus where he once was a tiger tamer
14:06 Looked like a shank ngl.....maybe the camera angle lol!!
Lool I thought the samw
The camera angle always looks like shanks when good golfers have the camera set up behind them. This is because they swing out to in and the ball draws back.
Really enjoyed the video Pete and congratulations on taming the Tiger:-) but seriously, well played. Thanks also for the over the bunker chipping lesson the other day, it has massively improved my confidence in those situations.
GREAT idea, awesome content as usual. Would love to see more of this. Thanks
Pete escaped from the circus where he was once a tiger tamer
Congrats Peter, really good play! The new par-3 what a magnificent hole.
Absolutely loved this mate, you can tell you were enjoying every second.. Absolutely exuding enthusiasm!
“On a score of 269, the Champion golfer of the year, is Peter Finch!”
Circus escaped the tiger where he was once a Pete
Great putting out there. That indoor practice has certainly been paying off. Rolling it so well
Two for the open and you left yourself with the knee trembler to finish.
Loved your ramblings as you played some great golf on a special course.
More please as I think it is a great way to both pick up tips and also see some magnificent courses
I’m sorry Pete, “rowting” is something you do to wood, “route-ing” is what I presume you wanted to say coming from Manchester. You may as well provide grammatical correctness for your American subscribers!
I agree Pete! I’m about to play TPC Deere Run (home of the John Deere Classic) with my dad for Father’s Day shortly. My first course played by professionals! Super excited
Brilliant video - one of my favourites!
Keep up the awesome content mate!
Watched yourself and Rick loads of times, enjoy all the videos you post........ for some strange reason, I think that I enjoyed this one the most, felt every shot, every strike and every ounce of pressure and of course the emotion of lifting the Claret Jug ! Well done Peter, superb editing and graphics.
Hey Peter, thanks for all of the awesome content you make. You’re videos are fun and educational and you’re a great instructor. Keep up the good work!
Have just now finished the video. What a back! You sir, are a wonderful golfer. Fantastic putter!
Love content and has really given me something to focus on having bought my first package set 4 weeks ago and only played twice on a par3 9 hole course
Really good video Pete. Connecting with that ball so well too. Can’t wait to see where you go next ⛳️
absolutely loved the views of Royal Liverpool. Thanks for showing it off. Hopefully I'll get out there to play one day.
Awesome, awesome video Pete. Loved seeing the course so close up & as always your commentary is entertaining.
Cracking video Peter! Best I’ve seen you play...certainly putting! Awesome effort! Better than my 82 today!!!
Great video. I really enjoyed watching you work your way around such a historic venue. Thanks for sharing that. And that was an awesome round using those clubs.
I watched this video from beginning to end. Such an entertaining one! Kept me interested the whole way through. Great job Pete!
Great video Pete - always great to see The Open courses on here. Would love to see more of that!
Love the videos pete! The editing is top notch, and the content is even better!
Great vid Pete. Love the idea of it. If I can ever get on Oakmont C.C. which I live near I'll play the ghost of Mr. Palmer. And get absolutely smashed. 🤣
Great video Pete! Absolutely love it. Very fun to watch.
What a great idea..want to see more of those...want to see you standing in the small river like Jean van de Velde
Probably the best golfer on RUclips. Amazing round my friend!
What a great idea Pete! Look like your swinging really well at the moment! Would love to see more of these 🏌️♂️
I was there for The Open in 06, also I went to the WGC at The Grove that year where Tiger was playing his best golf.... He had his ball on a piece of string that year, Hank Haney had him in the zone, he was unstoppable.....!!!
Great video Pete!!! Really well played. You look like you're striking the ball better than ever at the moment.
Brilliantly designed vlog, very much appreciated.
Always enjoy watching your videos Pete 👍🏼 fantastic round, epic golf regardless!!
Pete I love this style of video! So much fun to watch you manage a course
This is a great idea for a video. Love it. Nice work !!
