Thank you! I looked at the Galibier Tourmalet 3 just now, it looks very nicely made and designed. Maybe it is closer to a fully waterproof jacket, where the Gabba is closer to a rain resistant jersey in my opinion.
I had to wear the GABA black out again yesterday. It was kind of cold in the morning (45F) so I wore my favorite summer bibs with the Castelli gabba, but no base layer and nano flex sleeves. No winter gloves, no toe covers. Unfortunately, my hands froze and my feet froze, but my torso and chest were absolutely warm so I had a miserable ride. LOL except for where the Guilbeau was. Hahahaha
Nice Review! I agree too they are nice. But you should also try the Long Sleeve Perfetto Ros is also has all these features + the front zip vents which work really well. Castelli really does make nice things! 😉
Fratello.. I received my Gabba today. Bought the Black Out edition. It is belisimo. I also have the arm warmers (Nano Flex 3G) to go with the jersey. We have another month and a half til mornings become hot and humid on a daily basis. The rest of Feb and March will have a few mornings where the Gabba and Arm Warmers will be perfect combination at the start. Beautiful jersey
I have to confess I also have a black one, got it on sale. It really a unique jersey and perfect for cold drizzly conditions. I also use it always with nanoflex arm warmers.
Bought the original Gabba after the 2013 Milan San Remo, First ride was a race in a storm, Gabba did not keep me dry, but kept me warm, 30+ starters, 8 finished and got my best result at the time. One of my favourite pieces of kit ever. Still use it, in colder, damp conditions. Next year, Castelli released Gabba 2 I bought a fluro yellow version for commuting/training, bad move first ride no mudguards thick stripe of road grime up my back, took a long time to clean and removed too much of the DWR coating in the process. So take care of your orange Gabba. I now use Black Sheep Elements jerseys in the conditions I would of ridden a Gabba in. The original black Gabba now patched after crash still gets a rotation, the yellow does not.
Wore the Gabba and Nano Flex this past Saturday. Ride started at 0800 and we were in middle 40s. It was perfecto .. had a thin baslelayer on as well. After about an hour, the sleeves were off.. temps were in 50s and i may have unzipped Gabba just a little but by end of ride.. temps about 60 at finish. Man I really liked this kit setup for cool starts Glad I saw this video.
I watched this video before purchasing mine. Wore it this morning and I was delighted when it rained at last (I have worn it several times previously but the rain didn't arrive). Riding along the prom next to beach, lashing it down, wind coming in off the sea 19 kph and I was dry and warm. Gabba and nano flex legs and knees performed perfectly. Gabba lives up to all the hype!
Btw.. did you notice if their is a “pump pocket” on the back? Castelli has added a spot for small portable pumps. Not sure what version (Gabba, Gabba 2) it is on.
if id seen this before I would have got the short sleeve or convertible, but I have the long sleeve one, the arms are ok, but not as tight fitting as an arm warmer, more gym required! I will add a Gabba light as soon as I can, and will be set up for all! enjoyed this and the light review ciao

You are one Cool Cat. Great review. I was been wondering what was the point of the Babba. You answered that really well. In south Louisiana this would be perfect.. we have many days in the winter that may start out in 40 but by noon we are pushing 70. Castelli makes some incredibly well made and functional products. One comment about sizing. I was a bit surprised you’re wearing an XL. Do you wear L in most other cycling brands? You appear to be very slim and Castelli may be sizing their products according to Italian sizing. In Italy their XL = US L. What is your weight? I see you are over 6 ft. Maybe It’s your height that puts you in XL. Your chest is 40 inches. Thats very slim for XL in US sizing.
Thank you! Yes, I wear L with most clothing and this is Europe sizing. In US I sizing am M. For Castelli only I need to go up a size, so XL in my case. I am 185cm tall, so it should be between 6 and 6.1. My chest is 42 and weight 190lb. The Gabba is perfect when a soft thermal jersey it too light and a soft shell jacket is too warm and there is a chance of drizzle. I always use the nanoflex arm warmers with it, I believe this combination is better than the long sleeve version Perfetto as it is more flexible on the arms.
