Good video. With the right gear, cycling in the winter is pretty fun. Without the right gear, cycling in the winter is miserable. It doesn't get that cold where I'm at but 40s and 50s are cold enough.
I have issue in one foot due to a motorcycle accident. It's always cold. Highly recommend winter cycling boots, game changer. Wear with thermal socks and I'm good for a few hours of UK weather. Top half is just layers and layers haha. Good base layer, windproof castelli jacket and an optional gilet if it bad. Legs are castelli bib tights. If it's really cold so Nike Combat Spatz go over the top as an extra layer.
Haha awesome man, great review! Really great points made and I’m glad you recommend it. Now I can’t wait to get my first ride in the jacket! just gotta wait for some of the snow & ice to melt... anyways thanks again! Keep up the great content
My feet also run super cold. I've found a pair of merino wool socks (can find pretty cheap on Amazon) underneath a pair of windproof/waterproof bamboo socks does the trick. I don't even need shoe covers down to 30 degrees. I haven't tested lower than that yet. Good vid!!
Me winter riding, sneakers, tight joggers, under armor long sleeve and tight jacket..good up to -6 celcius lol..i find switching from clipless to regular pedals in the winter easier and my feet dont get cold
Great suggestion about using regular pedals. We focus so much on efficiency, we forget that winter time isn’t about smashing out watts. Thanks for watching!
Hi Patrick - Great video! It doesn’t often get cold down under, but we suffer when it does. Can you tell me your chest measurement? Keen to get the perfetto but need to decide between M and L. My chest is a scrawny 95cm. Thanks!
Hi Patrick, thank for the review. I am using since 10 years some Gore windstopper, but would like to try Castelli rig. I'm 175 and 78 kg, usually wearing M size, waswondering if L size of Perfetto would be the enough....could you measure and let me know the width between armpits and the one at the base of the zipper ? Could help me in comparing the 2 type of brands/fits and ordering online in this Sale period. Thanks so much
🤡 Regarding your Perfetto… I am also 6 feet (183cm) and 163 lbs (74kg). Did you also try on size M before you bought it? If so, were you in doubt of size M or L before you chose L? In advance thanks.
so this jacket and a long sleeve castelli warm baselayer.....can id decend down a 10 mile mountain in winter? like 34 degrees...is this 100 percent windproof? im looking to wear only 2 layers i do not want to wear a vest.. please advize if it will work or not?
I wear similar layers as you, the biggest challenge for me are my hands, they get cold, so I wear thick gloves. But even at 25f, my hands sweat and then they get cold.
🤡 nice I got my winter setup dialed this year . But today on my ride i got cold when decending lol , so layer up when decending . Interested for the future of this channel.
@@PatrickLino probably like 30 mph it was like 35 degrees . It was flagstaff mountain Bolder Colorado pretty famous climb in my area. Phil Giamon Has a vid on it
Why did you pay retail for that Castelli jacket when it is always on sale (can almost get 3 of them for that price at the right moment)? Too much money or what?! 🤣
@@PatrickLino Talking about the time of the video boy! I''ve never seen anything from Castelli even from now that you can't get at least 40% off from so many places kid...
🤡 I have the Perfetto ROS with the removable sleeves. I wish I had bought the long sleeve version as I never wear mine without sleeves and the sleeve zipper area is a cold spot under 40 degrees. I like visibility and want something different than the yellow/green, so I went with the hi vis orange. It makes me look like a star ship officer. 🤡
@@PatrickLino That doesn't always work! I'm usually a medium, even the large doesn't fit! I'm now waiting to try an XL! There is no consistency in the sizing, it varies across their clothing range!

How do you stay warm in the fall and winter?
I ride my mountain bike.. or get on Zwift
@@mr1derful83 Great answer. Thanks J 💪🏾
3 to 4 layers for my torso. Always with a windbreaker.
@@n.m4497 great idea especially for the early spring and fall.
Thanks for the review. Just ordered this jacket thanks to your recommendation.
Great review. Even better intro! You killed it brother keep it up!
Thanks for watching Francesco!
That perfetto jacket is the perfect weight for spring/fall and the colour is nice for visibility! I might get a second one :)
DO IT!
Nice video man. For me a neck warmer is key as well as my old Livestrong wind breaker. Love riding in the cold though. Cheers!
The great thing about colder weather is it keeps the heart rate down!
@@PatrickLino Good point. Definitely a good excuse for some long zone 2 sessions.
