I keep checking up new videos for tips on painting, and the main thing it's done seems to constantly expanding how many paints I own as I keep seeing new ones people are using for stuff like this.
LOVE THIS ! Best part is the fact is that it steps away from the "cartoony" look, it really did keep my vibe up as I paint through this kit ! Much love for putting the video out there !
Thanks to this video, if I ever ask my mrs her opinion on a model I'm painting, she says "hit it wit a little tinny tin" in an Irish accent XD. Great video as well mate, gonna give it a go with mine.
Great video, just built up some of this scenery and looking for inspiration. Now I have found it! Don't want to spend too much time on it either so this is perfect.
Nicely shot for your first painting tutorial mate. I imagine that painting with a camera suspended next to your face must have been a bit odd. Also nice to see that your neighbor's dog is still providing you with constant feedback.
Thanks, Oz! I actually bought a document camera which has a super small profile, it just kind of floating above the painting area. I'm kinda surprised more people don't use them for this kind of content.
I legit just bought tinny tin because of your video today! Looks epic brother. I'm going with different colors for priming but all being dry brushed with the tinny tin.
Really useful (and timely!) tutorial, thank indeed. Very easy to follow your narrative and see what you are up to. Really interested in trying the oil wash as something new - thanks again! Subbed
Using the dark brown metallic color under leadbelcher drybrush has been my go-to trick for years. I use warplock bronze but it's the same thing, really. The result is just too good to not do it.
Hello, impossible to find any tinny tin in all Quebec City! I try with a Brass Scorpion and it does well even if I’m curious to paint with tinny tin asap. Thanks for sharing, awesome work, very appreciate!
My 40k Orks are Goffs. So I'm probably going to use black where you took red. I'm just afraid it's going to look a bit dull. Let's just hope the white will compensate. Maybe a different color for those silo structures like GW did it?
What was your ratio for the oil wash you used at the end? Im new to this and am struggling to get the consistency right. Also great video, this has given me the courage to attempt this myself!
Really impressed by this. I've blocked out this afternoon to see if I can get anywhere close to your standard! One question though. Did you varnish the model before applying the oil / white spirit mix? THanks.
For miniatures I normally would, but for this piece of terrain I felt that any degradation between layers of paint from the white spirit would actually just add to the look. :)
Awesome video dude!! Just one question as im an oil wash virgin 🤣 did you varnish before applying the oil wash ? As ive seen some vids that do and others that dont and as ive not tried it yet was wondering if its somthing i need to do or not
On a miniature, I normally would varnish, yes. On this Ork terrain I didn't because any degradation of the acrylic layers will just add to the Orky feel of the terrain. :)
Awesome vid. Question- is there a difference between mineral spirits and white spirits? I can’t seem to find odorless white spirits but can find odorless mineral spirits
I like to use close to a 4:1 ratio of spirits to paint. I think that way it runs into the detail better. It take a little longer for the spirit to evaporate, allowing to get in and clean it up, but that's something i am okay with.
Hey, sorry for the late reply! Yes, I did. I added a little more color to the scrap piles to make it look a bit more disparate and add some visual interest to the battlefield.
This is my first ever video about how I painted something. I hope I'll figure out how to make them better as time goes on. lol

Great video. I like that you explain your reasons for doing things like you are doing them.

I like what what you've done with the building
Perfect until black oil paint. I'll save this and try it myself. Ryza Rust looks perfect!

Hi, great video any chance you could detail how you did the other parts of the set?
Thanks for this, I've just got some Orctarius terrain.

Really great painting tutorial, especially for your first time! 👏

This looks ace. What sort of ratio of spirits to oils? I really don’t want to ruin it at the last step 😬
Excellent video, My set arrived yesterday and this is really helpful. Any chance of a list of paints used in your description?
Paint list is in the description, I'll be sure it's in there when they go live from now on. :)
@@scannerbarkly Brilliant thank you. I am excited to see what you paint next.

Nice video buddy! 😀 It sounds like you're in the same part of the world as me.
Yup! I'm down in the midlands, for my sins. lol
@@scannerbarkly oh, not a million miles away. Make sure to pop over someday!
You sound just like the wrestling bio guy, like exactly like him 😂.

Thanx for the reply cant wait to see more vids in the future 😁😁😁
Paint job looks great! What kind of brush did you use for the drybrushing?
It's just an Army Painter dry brush. Nothing fancy. :)

It's the same thing!
@@scannerbarkly thank you!
If I'm not planning to go down the oil wash route would it be appropriate to replace that step with a Nuln Oil wash or just skip a wash altogether?
Nuln Oil would work just fine!
Really like your tutorial. Ive never used the wash at the end. What ratio of oil paint to spirit do you use ? 50/50 ?

@@scannerbarkly fab. Thank you
did you do the rest of the terrain such as the scrap piles with this method brother?
Hey, sorry for the late reply! Yes, I did. I added a little more color to the scrap piles to make it look a bit more disparate and add some visual interest to the battlefield.
