Another great tutorial Harv. I love how you explain things simply and well so beginners can understand and old timers can brush up. Wish I could call you on the phone every time I was trying to figure something out.
Thanks, Tim. In a manner of speaking, you can. You’re always welcome to join us in Discord. If I’m not there, there’s usually someone around willing to help out.
I LOVE GPS!!!! I'mma perfectionist and like plowing, cultivating, and such on straight lines that do not waver. I like seeing no overlap of edges. This is the perfect help mate for me. Don't get me wrong npc's are wonderful but I've noticed they overlap their rows and I never knew why. But this? Oh so perfect. And you've the best video on this than anyone else. I like Farmer Cop but you take your time when explaining things. Btw, how do you turn off the lines when done with a field? Don't think you explained that. I have to tab to another machine. Oh, just found it. In menu turn off lines. hehehehe
I've been using it since it came out but still picked up a couple of things I didn't know, very well explained. I do miss the Compass display from FS17 though
@@HarvsWorld Have you ever considered doing an advanced tutorial? This one was good in covering the basics, but there are additional functions, such as the headlands, that could be addressed.
@@mikesiver1950 It's on my list of things to do, for sure. I just have to find the time. Personal requests and recommendations get bumped up that list though. I'd expect to see something within the next couple of weeks. Thanks!
Hi Mate x this tutorial is awesome you speak so clear ( apart from getting some words wrong lo ) but to be honest you have made this GPS setting up so damn easy " Outstanding " xx
added this mod to the farm I made using your beginner tutorial on ravenport for some reason no matter which heading i set it still always points south but the set A B setting works great thanks again..... no more wonky harvesting for me hah and i like how you have to pay to have it fitted too. And as always a great video. going to be trying the seasons on here too if it will work now
@@HarvsWorld I just ran into the same issue, might be worth covering the option a little deeper (rehash of this video or an advanced Guidance Steering tutorial ;) )
Here is another more advanced tip. Headland mode. When you near the edge of the field the tractor will warn you with a beep according to the length of the headland you set. I like to make 3 headlands around the field I'm working with and set the headland length 3x the width of my implement. You can have the tractor automatically stop once you reach the headland length or continue forward with a warning beep. If i am cultivating I do not raise the cultivator. If I need to turn right to the next lane over to go back down the field. I first turn the wheel left a bit before turning right to the next lane and activate the guidance steering as I enter the lane. It is fast and easy this way.
Thanks for taking the time to prep and present this tutorial indeed very helpful... In FS 17 had a autoturn feature at the end of the field to start a new line... it appears this is not available yet in FS 19... nonetheless extremely helpful to use GPS...
@@HarvsWorld yep it helps especially you mentioning those keyboard shortcuts what and how to use them it makes a difference compared to other creators trying to do similar guides... Keep up the good work and we'll keep watching... thank you...
Hey Harv, I've installed Guidance Steering and Courseplay but cannot initialize either of them. There is no option to purchase GPS in the customization screen for my Case? Hud key does nothing. I'm a bit flummoxed?
Great tutorial 👍 Just a personal preference, I use Course Play because you can set it to plow/seed etc hire a worker and leave them to it while I do something else.
Thanks! I use Courseplay also, and I’ll throw Follow Me in there too. I see Courseplsy as an enhanced worker mod, where GPS is an aid when doing my own work.
Nicely done Sir. GPS isnt really a mod ive used in the past as I tend to default to Courseplay as my field mod of choice. I may give it a try though as I can see there are situations where it could be handy as a visual aid when im manually working on fields.
Exactly. It's very situational. Not necessary all of the time, but it's nice to have when you need it. I'm slowly but surely learning Courseplay, but still have a long way to go.
just out of curiosity how hard would it be to add a hot key to toggle the option "Show Lines on/off) so that you dont have to open the menu to do so every time?
Great question. I checked, and there is no keybinding for the option, unfortunately. Without a keybinding, it would probably take a mod edit that I'm not familiar with. You might be able to do it with a Macro, though.
@@HarvsWorld If you haven't abandoned FS19 for FS22 yet I reached out to Wopster about this and they released an updated version which includes a hot key for this now
I really would like too have this mod, but one thing is I am not able too turn GPS on any tractor's I have purchased..any reason for this? Forgot to mention I am using FS 19
This is nice but the Vehicle Control Add-On does the same thing with just one press of a button. If you have a have a diagonal edge like that you just point your tractor in the direction you want and it does everything for you!
Very simple and complete video Harv!. One question. If we sell a machine that has the $15k GPS in it do we get that money back or is that essentially a throw away?
Good question. You can use it with a loading wagon if you manually set the width of the wagon to be the distance between windrows. For example, if you harvest a field with a 9 meter header, leaving straw windrows... you’d set the width of your loading wagon the same as your header... 9 meters.
