    To me there’s 3 interpretations of this song.
    1) on surface level, like you said, is pretty straight forward. They’re talking about a toxic romantic relationship with someone else
    2) this is fake love towards yourself. Changing yourself to fit the standards of other people to the point you don’t even know who you are anymore
    3) in their book, BTS said during this time they were going through a burn out. They were so exhausted, but they still put on a smile and continued to go on stage pretending everything was ok. And the fandom kept growing and so many people were saying how much they love BTS. But if BTS was struggling but didn’t show this side to the fans, do the fans actually love them? Or the personna of them?!?!
    Bts lyrics can go really deep. It takes some getting used to. But once you realize how deep it goes, it’s like you’ve unlocked a part of your brain.

    It's surprising you were able to connect details of their choreography to the song with just those short snippets. Fake Love choreo is so good - it does have the doll choreo as well as "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" motifs which is also expressed in that art piece behind them

    Can't wait for you to react to Suga's rap in solo projects! I forgot your names, but the brother on the right particularly will surely enjoy the Daeschwita, Haegum, and Amygdala trilogy by Suga. It should be experienced in order, because it's a whole vibe and tells Suga's life story. Not only his, but the lives of all K-Pop 'idols' to an extent. Actually BTS is a genre of its own in many ways. Saying 'Pop' doesn't really summarize the depth and breadth of it. So many layers.

    • @SusieQ1955
      @SusieQ1955 5 месяцев назад +10

      I don't think his life is anything like other idols. Look up his story, or tidbits of it. Mother's heart attack the month he was born, alcoholic father, abuse, left home young to the rough underground? Depression, ocd, and extreme social anxiety to the point of thinking of suicide? PTSD for sure. At least one psychiatric stay. A torn ligament left untreated and dancing with it for 8 years. One top of that he is a musical genius with credits on 2/3 of BTS's music. He no doubt got through it because his six brothers loved him, and there is no other group that loves each other like BTS does because they have been through more hardship, and pioneered more success, than any other group out there. Please don't generalize using Suga. There are no idols even close.

    One thing BTS does with their music is they mostly produce songs and albums based on their own life experiences and what they are dealing with at the time. If you go back and check their discography you will see their albums all reflect various growing pains and how they dealt with it. That’s why their songs come across as so genuine and relatable to many people as some might be going through the similar things or they went through the same experiences. True and one of a kind artists 💜

    17:05 you completely understood the concept and what they were trying to portray, 'fake love' is part of their love yourself album trilogy. The first album is 'love yourself: her' and the songs are about this "perfect love" and how great it feels at first, then in the second album 'love yourself: tear' they realize they are losing themselves and the illusion of " perfect love" is slowly fading, then in the final album 'love yourself: answer' you realize that you can love no one if you don't love yourself first 💜

They all had traumas from their past in the BU and water fall, fire, chocolate bars.... are from the storyline. The song is not only about the relationship between man & woman but also between you & parents, you & friends and you & yourself... and telling us to be true to youself.

    Yes the choreo is linked to the line, the point of this song is the ‘puppet’ choreography.
    That and the ‘see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil’ thing. You should watch Fake love live performances preferably from Mama 2018 in Japan.
    Also this MV is part of their BU (BTS Universe) storyline. So it might not make sense to you.
    Fun fact: most of the effects in the MV are real. This was made with minimal CG.

    I think Dynamite was a lot of the world's first exposure to BTS. It was the first English song I believe. Also, Butter came along around that time. They were both 'Pandemic' era, when the world was basically shut down. They were majorly disappointed to not be able to perform in concerts for that time. But, to bolster the mood of fans, they didn't waver, just kept on. They even performed on a stage a couple of times, so the fans could feel more like it was concert even though there weren't any audience except video views.

    • @nomore3278
      @nomore3278 5 месяцев назад +5

      Waste it on me was their first all english song, even though it's not all the members (they promoted it like that too). DNA was their western breakthrough in general with bbmas, etc. They gained more and more fans naturally after each cb (BWL was rly big) that came afterwards and then Dynamite was rly the song that rly made them global pop icons. (Didn't mean to correct you or anything, just wanted to mention it)

    • @Ymccabe
      @Ymccabe 5 месяцев назад +2

      No its not pandemic era. Its the Be Era. We got dynamite on that album too. They just wanted to Be I guess. The pandemic was be but they still had their sense of being and didn’t let it swallow them even though they got depressed esp the first few months of the pandemics. This is one reason I’m adverse to the pandemic era thing and this is one of the few times I’ve heard it referred to as such. BTS eras are named by their albums. For them to overcome that and us to and have a part of their music catalogue be grouped as pandemic era doesn’t really mesh well with their past eras, nor does it go with their reasons of the album and song- hope, joy, etc
      Then we had the Butter era.

      @@YmccabePlease correct me I'm wrong, but I think (although I'm beginning to doubt myself) that 'Life Goes On' was a lockdown period piece. Everything in the MAMA video performance of it looks like the entire world was basically at a standstill, then the color comes back and everything seems to activate fully. I'm not good at writing so I'm getting a lot of misunderstanding.

    Yes the comment at the end hit the nail on the head. In K-Pop you are supposed to be perfect but BTS said no we are not we are human just like everyone else and have shortcomings too. This is one of the reasons ARMY loves them so much they can be vulnerable and show that they too struggle with some of the same things we do. They have pushed taboo subjects and still keep going even with the backlash. The lyrics are deep and thoughtful. Their producer told them to write what they know and care about and they do.

    I would genuinely love to see you guys do a storyline dive. From this era, for me, you can often think of the "characters" in the video as being different aspects of the same person, which can be either Jin or Jungkook, who are often shown outside of the timeline and looking in. There is a lot nonlinear motion going on, where the main character looks down on different aspects of his personality, while V represents the subconscious who cannot get his own message and needs out to the rest of the organism (he's getting messages from all the devices on the wall, but his own phones dissolves into sand).
    Sorry, that went on longer than I intended. Long-term, it often feels useful to do a solo video for each of the members before progressing, so you can get an idea of unique faces and voices. I feel like it makes me appreciate the whole group more when you see the various talents come together.

    I have a specific interpretation for this song that it was directed at the "fans". They love BTS as long as they act exactly how they want, but if they do something different from what is expected, they are attacked. This is represented by the line about fake love. Also, in the part of the glass where it says save me, if you turn it upside down the phrase becomes "I'm Fine". The doll's phrase also matches this. In fact, the whole song matches this.

    Fake Love é uma música que narra a luta interna de alguém que, por amor, está disposto a esconder suas verdadeiras emoções e a se transformar em outra pessoa, apenas para satisfazer o parceiro. Expressa, também, um arrependimento por ter construído uma versão de si mesmo baseada em mentiras, apenas para ser amado, essa atitude leva a um sentimento de alienação e perda de identidade, culminando na constatação de que o amor que sentiam era falso e que a construção desse falso eu gera arrependimento e o sentimento de ter perdido sua própria identidade. É uma mensagem sobre a importância de manter a própria identidade e a busca por um amor que seja verdadeiro e recíproco. Explora temas complexos como autenticidade, sacrifício pessoal e a natureza do amor. BTS e suas músicas nunca desapontam em termos de profundidade, através de imagens e metáforas inteligentes. 💜🇧🇷

    Also, the sand was the crumbled relationship. What flew up were cherry blossoms. In k-dramas, cherry blossoms falling are a sign of romance. Here, cherry blossoms floating up is a sign the relationship is blowing away. The water on the other side signifies drowning in the relationship, the fire means totally consumed, presumably dead and burned to ash. But who or what? The guy in the relationship? Or just the relationship. Btw, it was a real fire, just blown up in the film editing. Suga's the master of fire.

    I’ve been a fan since 2014. Got in early due to Korean friends way before they were truly global and I still listen to them daily and watch their varieties shows etc. First discovered Big Bang who I love then got into BTS. Hoping they will have a concert in Australia. Seeing Taeyang from Big Bang in November in Sydney. Think I only have 2 non BTS, Big Bang songs on my playlist

    man i never get tired of watching someone fall down the rabbit hole
    amidst the over saturation of reactors on youtube it's so painfully obvious when someone watches bts stuff simply because their audience told them to and it gets views/comments vs someone who is genuinely intrigued and interested
    very very fun to watch hehehhee

    In my opinion their whole concept is being honest and sing about topics and things that they are going through or thinking about. Love yourself concept was at a time when they too were trying to come to terms with the idea of self love. If you watch their videos, listen to their music you can appreciate the lyrics more because you can actually see in the behind the scenes videos their personal growth and inspiration for each album.

      Yes. But Fake love is about self fake love and also doyble meaning: about fake love of some kind of ARMY who draw them like typical idols who is perfect in everything what they do and never cry, never do any mistakes, dont drink, dont smoke, dont have sex with girls, dont fall in love with girls. Its also about ARMY who perceives them as dolls that can be controlled, ARMY that can tell them any demands

    Wow amazing you picked up on the marionette doll thing connected to the lyrics, I only fully realized it on their love performance of it. Was a full time alt-rock, goth rock, some pop-rock, classic, opera, musical chick with a dash of R&B/Jazz and got into BTS because of a happenstance watch on Grammy's when they performed Seoul town road. Had a full anti relationship with KPop with it sounding generically similar. Heard Taehyung's distinctive tone and soulful baritone, was hooked since then.

    As a filmmaker and film graduate, I’m sure your brother will appreciate going into the BU (Bangtan Universe), but maybe later on, when he’s experienced more songs and becomes more invested. Also, will recommend watching Save Me with him, since it’s a one take video, which he will also appreciate. Subbing to see more of this journey. 😊

    the reaction was lit but what's weird is that i got into BTS the EXACT SAME WAY that YOU shared in the video. It was late 2020 like august or September and i was just chilling in my room and then i heard this dope melody from the other room with heavenly vocals and i went out to see my brother watching dynamite by BTS.

    Hi.
    Ya que parece que os intriga el trabajo de cámara con la coreografía sugiero que continuéis con la canción SAVE ME y veáis también el video detrás de cámara que muestra cómo lo grabaron en un día horrible lluvioso en exteriores. Es un vídeo sencillo pero el trabajo de coreografía y de la de camara moviendose entre ellos y ellos alrededor de la cámara es impresionante.
    Además es la canción que aparece escrita en la cristalera que detrás de V en este vídeo. Es como si el mismo os hiciera esta sugerencia.
    Gracias por vuestra reacción, he disfrutado mucho.
    Saludos desde España.

    I've watched all your videos so far and your reactions feel genuine and honest!
    I recommend you to watch the MV first and then the lyrics or an explanatory video (there are a lot of good explanatory videos of BTS songs by Korean people), so you can fully take in the song. I think both visuals (MVs and live performances) and lyrics are two very important parts of a song and should be studied separately. I've seen reactors miss the whole point of a song because they only focus on the MV or only get half the experience because they only focus on the lyrics. In your first two videos, I feel like your brother wasn't able to really catch on the lyrics. He understood the general concept of both songs but missed a lot of Mic Drop best bars and the actual meaning of Black Swan.
    We don't mind long videos at all, we actually enjoy them more, so don't be afraid to pause, comment and rewatch the song as many times as you need! We purple you, borahae 💜!

    Thank you both for a great reaction 👏 I enjoy how you both take time out to analyse and voice your individual perspective on their songs and respecting each other for it, especially when you’re both at different stages of discovering BTS 👏 It’s always enjoyable to watch a new reactor learn about BTS. You guys are not here for the views or clout, but have that genuine interest in BTS and their art. Keep ‘em coming. I’m here for it 🙌🏽 New sub right here!

    I guess that, thinking about cinematography, your brother will like Blood Sweat & Tears o/
    Also, that part with the sand, to me is like the love that we couldn't retain, like love is just going/crashing down in our hands like sand...
    Also, I read the BTS biography and they talk about at, some point in 2018, feeling fake with their feelings to army because they're in pain but needed to hide it. So the song fits from that perspective as well.
