They are currently doing their mandatory military service, which is why we haven't had any group songs in a while. Only the oldest member is done. The next member to finish will be done in October. The rest will finish in June 2025.
Since 2022, they've been doing solo work.
Aside from their music, they also have a number of shows that allow you to get to know them better. They are so much fun. It's like hanging out with friends.
As others have said, Taylor Mari's guide is a great explainer for beginners.
Enjoy BTS More is a RUclips channel with their best performances, with subs added. It's a great resource. Their official MVs are on Hybe labels, BangtanTV, or OneTheK (older videos). Beware of fan-made videos that are labeled official MV.

No worries gals, BTS are very much still together, they just had to fulfill their mandatory military service in South Korea. The oldest, Jin, just completed his. Next one out is J-Hope in October. Then the other 5 will be back in June 2025. They have already re-signed their new contracts and are planning a massive word wide tour. BTS debuted in 2013. They put an incredible amount of content out for their fans, known as ARMY. They worked so hard prior to the military so that we would not have to miss them so much. Honestly, apart from being incredibly talented, they are 7 of the nicest, kindest, most humble guys you will ever come across. I hope you continue to check them out. You won't regret it.

@@pamelakrause9311 As a long time ARMY myself, I can tell you Taylor Guide is best one and latest updated as of May 2022 since xCeleste and Suga&Spice guides that were made around 10 years ago, I do agree that those guides do provide additional important information that isn’t being added to many later guides when it should be but there is 2024 Long but Helpful BTS Guide by Purple Snow that has been getting quite allot of attention with around 250K views and probably more since last week the first time I checked.

BTS discography has hundreds of songs in many languages, covers dozens of genres, displays different talents including singing, rapping, dancing, songwriting, producing, composing and acting.
There's something for everyone in their discography but it can definitely seem intimidating at first so going at your own pace is recommended lol

For the next video the most often suggested songs are Black Swan, On: Kenetic Manifesto Film, and since you did Mic Drop I would suggest Fake Love. Really enjoyed your reaction and looking forward to your next reaction to BTS.

The one with the blue hair: RM (Rap Monster), real name Kim NamJoon, leader of the band and one of the best rappers and lyricist of our time. They are seven multitalented men and you will for sure fell in love with them: 3 rappers ( RM, Suga, JHope) and 4 vocalists ( Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook). Try to see live performances, they are absolutely mind blowing, always live voice, never playback or autotune and dancing most of the time. By the way, do you really wanna see something “illegal”: “Dimple”+ “Pied piper” live performance Munster 5th Seoul edition and make sure you have the subs on ( thank me later 😜). Edit : the best channel, as far as I know, for eng subs is Enjoy BTS more.

The thing about being a BTS stan is that you are not restricted by genres at all. There always will be something to your liking, whether it's pop, rock, ballad, r&b, soul music, rap, hip-hop, elektro, etc. And sure, it's a common thing to choose who we like the most out of 7 of them, based on their personalities and their very own styles of music (they do solo too), but it doesn't mean that you should only concentrate on one member. In fact, members themselves encourage ARMY to listen to everyone equally))
To answer to your question about them still producing music, yes they are doing it, but unusual way 😅All members have been enlisted to the military to serve their country as is required to Korean men (and there were contradictions about them doing it at all because frankly they bring a lot of money to Korea, but they decided to do it anyway), so technically they are on a break right now, until July 2025. BUT before enlisting, they did a great job preparing their music beforehand to release it when they are off, so now we're kinda enjoying their new solo songs and albums without them being "present"😀
Really recommend watching some of their other songs before The Guide to the members, because that way you won't be attached and biased, and you could really enjoy just their artistry (songs for the listen: ON - both versions, Film out, Black swan, Dope, Fire, Not Today... )
(*P.S. the way everyone seems to fall for Joon for the first time🤗I was a victim to his charms too. It doesn't go any better, the man is attractive AND smart as hell. He wrote most of BTS music btw)

RM (Namjoon) is the one with the blue hair and is the leader of BTS. He was my first bias too when I discovered the band. He speaks fluent english and I’m pretty sure you’ll fall in love with him even more when you hear him speak.
Aside from the music videos, you can also watch them at the James Corden carpool karaoke so you can get to know a little bit of their personalities. When you’re ready, we can recommend guides so you can get to know them one by one.
I felt the same. I am so glad that I get to enjoy BTS while I'm alive. I spent 3 years starting 2019 to watch "most" of BTS' musical arts and I was watching it every single day for hours on end - I kid you not. It got to the point (and still) where I had to watch BTS daily to feel that my day was done.
When I first became Army in 2019, I was totally iny feral era! I would stay up until 1am watching all the content and if I didn't have work the next day it would be 3am.
I literally stopped watching TV and reading books or magazines, which were my addictions before becoming Army.
And yes, my day is not complete unless I watch something related to BTS.
I sometimes feel that I should know better at 60 years old, but I regret nothing! 💜
The one you are talking about is RM. He's the leader and is one of 3 awesome rappers, the other two being SUGA & J-Hope. The vocal line is made up of 4 singers-Jin, V, Jimin & Jungkook. They are ALL multi-talented, yet remain humble. They are still a group but are fulfilling their mandatory military service, only one, Jin, has completed his. Not to worry, during the entire military service these guys have been releasing solo albums & much more. Currently Jimin's new album MUSE is out & is soooo good. All songs are great. The omv for Smeraldo Garden Marching Band, Who, Rebirth Intro & Slow Dance are all amazing. Always pay attention to details in their videos, such as in the background & lyrics, as their songs usually have deep meanings & sometimes link to another video. Please pause a bit at the end of each, as just when you think they're over, they're not! So many to suggest. I suggest Save Me omv, Festa Room Live 2021, Magic Shop live. I could go on and on. And BTS fans, called ARMY, are every age, ages 5-90 in our family alone! I am sooo happy my daughter introduced me to BTS over 4 years ago. I listen to them every day. They are so humble & love ARMY. Thanks for giving thrm a chance. Continue down the BTS rabbit hole, you will never regret it.
You not realizing they’re currently in the military 😂 reminds me of when I discovered BTS oct 2022. 2 weeks of obsession and finding out they are taking a break from watching random BTS festa video that showed up on my home screen 😭 I knew no one that could explain to me. There are probably several songs you have heard that are BTS or one of the members that you may not be aware is them: the version of “Savage Love” with Jason Derulo that went to number 1. Jung Kook starts the song and the two rappers are Suga and J-Hope. “Bad Decisions” with Bennie Blanco and Snoop Dog, “Waste it On Me”, “Make it Right” with Lauv, “My Universe” with Coldplay, and more.

They began mandatory military service in 2022. They have all released solo albums since then. The oldest, JIN, was released from the military in June and is working on his solo album. They will be together as a group in June 2025.

Hi Beth & Jules! I came across your BTS reaction and can I just say that I absolutely love your energy. Thank you so much for taking the time to react to their MVs. So just to give you a little background, BTS is currently and by far, the biggest and most successful boyband not just in Korea but all over the world, the fandom is called "ARMY" (so if you want to address us in your videos, you can just call us ARMY and hoping you'd be one too!), Though BTS is a K-pop boyband, their music is not boxed into one genre, they've done ballad, rnb, soul, hip-hop, Latin pop, rap and many more and they always evolve and branch out artistically that makes them even bigger than K-pop. BTS is also known for their beauitful lyricsm, they always have a message behind their lyrics so please, please, please, always turn your captions on and pay attention to the lyrics :)
BTS are currently serving in the military which is a required participation of all able-bodied male citizens to be in active duty enlistment in South Korea. Jin, one of the members have already completed his military service and was discharged last month. All 7 members are expected to reunite in 2025 when they all finish their military service.

There is a very famous Guide by Taylor Mari that is around 50 minutes, but is a little outdated. There is one that is very up to date calledA LONG AND HELPFUL GUIDE TO BTS (2024) by Purple snow, is way longer (around 2 hours) but it’s so much better.But do the one you feel most comfortable with, or do both, we love watching people reacting to guides, and we love long videos
My favorite is always the one currently singing. They have hundreds of songs in so many genres that you will definitely find plenty to love. Some of my favorites are "Truth Untold," "Black Swan," and "DDaeng." Many of the songs also have explanation videos to help with cultural references, Korean translations and the word play the RM (the one with the blue hair) is so well known for. Right now 6 of the 7 members are serving mandatory military service in South Korea. One member, Jin, finished serving just a few weeks ago. All of the members will be done serving June of 2025 and they will be back doing what they do best. I would also recommend the Guide to BTS by Taylor Mari.
Mic drop is actually around 7 yrs old, they dropped it in 2017. Dynamite was in 2020 and Butter was in 2021
don't worry, they very much are still making music, but individually because they have to finish their mandatory military service as some comments have probably told you..
after their MS, they'll return as a whole group next year 😊
You two are so adorable. I am a senior (70) that discovered BTS 4 yrs ago. Once you go down the BTS rabbit hole, it will change your life. They are a portal to a whole new way of looking at the world. Watch Taylor Mari's guide Bangtan 7. I wish I would have seen this guide first. I was amazed when I watched it. I love and respect them so much. They are family to me and have gotten me through some hard times. They do all different kinds of genres. Their rap line is hardcore. I never liked rap but its my favorite genre now because of RM, Suga and JHope. The fans are called ARMY and they are wonderful, loyal and fiercely protective. They promote self love and kindness.

They have over 300 group songs, concert and award shows are amazing. Each of them also have solos, all different genres.
Many of reactors practically grew up with BTS as they started in BTS' debute Era in 2013-2014 of the first chapter. Mid BTS Era was in 2015 and 2016 when their global stardom started. Global fame era was from 2018 - 2022. 2023 was their hiatus due to enlistment to Military and explored their so projects. The 2nd Chapter of BTS is yet to come when they are all released and get back together in 2025.
Another fun thing to watch as stress reiiever are their own variety shows BTS' Bon Voyage, In The Soop and Run BTS. To me, one of my favorites is their 6 episodes guesting in a reality show in the US called The American Hassle Life in early 2015 but it was actually shot in L.A at the summer of 2014 when they produced their songs Danger and Boy in Love.

A Guide to BTS: the bangtan 7 by taylor mari is great - she did an impeccable job on it however as time does fly the information on it only goes up to 2022. It is a 50 minute video that i highly recommend tho.
Then there is a long and helpful guide to BTS by purple snow that is about 2 hours long but its the most up to date on the boys and whats been going on with them up until now.
Some start with the taylor guide to begin with then top up their knowledge with the long snd helpful guide which i also recommend. The boys are doing their mandatory military service however jin( the oldest member) has finished his already and jhope( dance leader) will be out in october.

5:45 Yep...I've never heard K-pop at any club apart from a K-pop party where they only play K-pop. Butter and Dynamite aren't even typical K-pop songs, and not because they are in English, but because their structure is very American-style. They could easily play them at clubs.

A lot of people have been recommending "Taylor's Guide for BTS", but that one is a little bit outdated (2022).
Recently a new guide dropped by "Purple Snow: A Long And Helpful Guide To BTS" (2024).
The Purple Snow guide is over 2 hours long though, so if that is too long for you, you could definitely watch the Taylor Mari one, but if you really want to know as much as possible about them I would say watch the Purple Snow one!!

If you want a really good guide, A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7 by Taylor Mari is the way to go. It covers everything up to 2022, which is chapter 1 of their career. Chapter 2 isn't included, because members started their military service and the ones that weren't in yet did a lot of solo work, because they couldn't all be together. They're gonna come back as a full group next year when they're all back from the military. The guide is about an hour long, but please don't let that scare you, ARMYs love long videos 😆
But yes, they don't have newer group videos because of the mandatory military service. Ever since the first one left, all we're hearing from them is "I miss the other members", "I can't wait when we're all back together" and stuff like that. I swear they miss the group more than us sometimes 😆. Next year is gonna be awesome.

I'm Army and I'm 69 years old and although they are all my favorites RM is my bias. There is so much for you to catch up on, all their music videos yes but there is sooo much more that they have on video. Glad you finally found them.
There are several good guides that give different perspectives. Xceleste explains why BTS is not a typical boy band. Rice Squad gives a great chronology. I recommend all three. Please do more. 71 year old. ARMY since 2016. V is my bias. J-Hope and Jin are both bias-wreckers, but at the end of the day, it's OT7. 💜
Right now all are doing their mandatory military service, except the oldest since he got out in June. They did a lot of content, including full albums, that have been released while they’ve been away to include an 8 episode travel show that 2 of them did that started today on Disney +.
You will realise the difference of genre in each of their song.. when you watch "On : kinetic manifesto film" and then watch "black swan" you wouldn't believe they are the same group.. the vibe of those songs is just like earth and sky..

Mic Drop is one of my favorite songs. My favorite performance is at their 2022 Busan concert, which was their last group activity before working on solo stuff to release while they’re in the military. They went hard like the rent was past due. A lot of groups love their fans but BTS LOVES Army and still to the time of their enlistment, they were fully engaged with Army, in a variety of ways, especially JK. They’re the kind of group who immediately gets on a live as a group after the Grammy’s and still got more viewers than the actual award show. Once they’re all discharged next June and have readjusted to civilian life, I’m sure they’re going to hit the ground running with group music. 6 of the 7 were working really hard in 2023 to produce enough music to tide over Army until their discharge. Jin enlisted in Dec 2022 so he did not have much time to prepare music but when he was discharged he had 4 months to wait for j-hope’s discharge and then another year for the rest of the members to be discharged so he’s got a lot of time for solo work.

Actually RM has writing credits on Butter. He wrote his rap and Suga’s rap since Suga is not fluent in English. I don’t believe they wrote on the other two English songs though.

Uhm, while it is true that BTS exploded exponentially after Dynamite, it is not the first song that made them popular in the US. They were popular enough to sell out stadiums 50,000-60,000 seats multiple nights in the US before dynamite.

True, BTS became more popular in America & UK on 2017 with DNA when they performed it on BBMA’s and were already famous in every other country in the globe as of 2015 with The Red Bullet Tour (including my little continent of Australia) and had already had multiple sold out concerts all over the globe before even Dynamite was a blimp on the radar so I laugh when I hear this being said also. 😆😆😆😆

Yes, they even headlined the KCon in 2014, did very well with their concerts in the US 2015-2016 that's why they were invited to perform DNA in the AMA's and had their first BB award in 2017.

Butter was actually the newest song you heard, Dynamite second newest, and Mic Drop the oldest of the three. RM (Kim Namjoon) is an amazing rapper. As I'm sure you've been told, all but one (Jin) are still in the process of completing mandatory military service. They all produced solo work while on hiatus. Jimin just released his second album. Honestly a lot of K-pop has great production but the actual songs are pretty meh. There are a few groups which stand out because they have a distinct identity and sound. BTS is the pinnacle of this, and that along with their very genuine social messaging is the reason they are the only group I stan. Jules is right, when it comes to BTS lyrics are important. That said, there are some other really fun songs out there.
This man with the blue hair -omg, so relatable😂. He is my ultimate forever bias😍. His recent album Right Place Wrong Person is an outright masterpiece and appearing on ‘best album’ lists everywhere. The style definitely steps far outside what people think of as ‘K-pop’.
I’m in my 50s and hadn’t felt like this about music or an artist for probably 30 years! Discovering BTS was one of the best things to happen in my life💜. Can’t wait to see you discover more, and to watch the Guide with you.
