What a coincidence, I was listening to the Tetris NES soundtrack when I was moving out of my flat two days ago. It really helped me fit all my stuff into the van!
But boy, there are a few I don't like. San Francisco Giants red and black? Portland Timbers greens? Christmas pink and green? (Even though I'm a non-practicing Protestant and Christmas is coming up as I write this.) New York Mets blue and orange? Vancouver Whitecaps blues? And I know this game was Soviet-made, but come on. USSR red and gold? The only one I like here is Seattle Mariners blue and green.
if you get over 9,999,999 score it starts replacing the first digit with letters like 20mil would be B000000 once you run through all the letters it switches to . and comma and other symbols before eventually going black and the pieces themselves being in the score

I'm always calm when playing Tetris. Unless I end up doing something stupid. I did something stupid during this longplay so I sat forward so I could fix it as soon as I possibly can. When it was fixed I went back to being calm. :3
This was any of the puzzle games I played on the NES at my late grandmothers in the early 2000's, from 2002 to 2003, and I will playing it again soon one day, when I repurchase another NES. I will always that game memories.
I like this version of tetris more than the Tengen and the gameboy edition. The colours, the BGM, the SFX ... I believe it's my all time favourite Tetris.
I have the gameboy version! And I might add the B music is *Exactly* the same there as in the NES version. Plus the Type A music is better in GameBoy version
@iLoveJackingOn depends on the competition. Obviously some use the NES version, but a lot of competitions dislike it because it's not equally random. You could get really lucky and get a good order of pieces. The modern tetris games use a random piece generator that is always fair to all competitors and you'll always get every single piece before you get a repeat. So the competitions based on those are fair to all competitors. You can never know if someone is truly the best tetris player in the world when they may have only won because of lucky RNG.

I don't understand the purpose of going for such a high-risk build strategy, not to condescend. Once it gets past half the screen I want the wall to shrink, even if I'm not getting an I block so I cash out smaller lines until it goes back down again.
SolidSonicTH It's all about the tetris. Nothing supplies more points than a tetris. It's risky, but I almost always play like OP. I'm either in tetris building mode or clean up mode. Sometimes just gotta clean up you mistakes.
Yup. looks like this is a tool assisted run. Could tell from when it hit lvl 19, only explanation would be the player is a hyper tapper ( and a master at it) but the fact it was still going extremely consistent after 29 (most peoples kill screen) just screams tas.
I... I can't even get pass 80 lines without completely losing the game in the most horrific way possible. Seeing the game go that fast around 150+ lines and beyond just completely blows my mind... and here I thought I was good at games.@_@

I suppose they're using save states and maybe slowdown options at en emulator, as well as some recording tool that replaces the already recorded game with the new gameplay they do after they go back to a save. AND that records the slowed down parts as if they were aying at normal speed. Can anyone inform me if my suppositions are right?
You got great skills. Technically I never tout that this game is a hardware pusher, yes it is, as soon you put those sprite blocks down, the mmc1 chip inside this game will then quickly swaps that sprite block with a tile background version of it because the nes is not capable to view a wall of sprites on screen so the mmc1 has to do this to get around this limitation, it’s a pretty clever technic. Just mind blowing.
NES Tetris fun fact: If you alphabetize the tetrominos, it spells I J L O S T Z which I code as "I Just Lostz" The z doesn't really affect anything though.
Tetris is this way that every 10 Lines the difficulty get one higher. That means 100 Lines is level 10. And every level the speed gots higher. On Game Boy I have made 201 lines and was level 20. And on NES I have had 140 lines or so or 168 lines: I played nearly only on Game Boy.
