    Really wished Nintendo would give this system design another look. The DS line was such a unique experience that deserves a contemporary version. Nothing out there like it.

    • @Chronoflation
      @Chronoflation 2 года назад +98

      HD3DS would be super fun. Imagine if the 3DSXL games all ran in even 720p with 60fps in 3D. I'd pay a pretty penny for that type of experience. The 3D looks great with the few games that actually hit 60fps and I'm sure a higher resolution would only help more

    • @squidsmove
      @squidsmove 2 года назад +30

      @@Chronoflation i think the problem in that is the size and battery of the device because even the switch doesn’t have 60 fps 1080p bc it would compromise the battery life and if they did make it bigger for a longer battery life it would be too much for a handheld

    • @Chronoflation
      @Chronoflation 2 года назад +21

      @@squidsmove Yeah, that's why I said 720p. Though, it'd probably need a more efficient processor than the Switch. But the 3DS also didn't play as intensive games as the Switch tries to. The Switch's main problem with fps and resolution is that it tries to play home console games on the go and a lot of games are ported down to the Switch instead of being built for it. The games built for it tend to run well and I think if they did an HD3DS the system would run smooth enough. The 3DS ran well enough on 2011 hardware, so I firmly believe 2017 or 2020 hardware could push one that is at least double or triple the resolution with similar game performance.

    Its got such a huge library and it had such great features bundled in, Im still trying to finish a lot of the games I got for it and I love the variety and the way the 3D is actually beneficial in most of them. Once homebrewed you can play around 11 systems for it, honestly its the ultimate pokemon game system at that point since you can play gen 1-7 and you can transfer your pokemon from DS and 3ds games to the pokebank. Honestly we took the 3DS for granted, shame the switch didnt carry over many aspects of the 3ds and wii u just to charge people for a subscription service or not include features at all.

    • @Chronoflation
      @Chronoflation 2 года назад +31

      Charging people for less features than the previous consoles had. The Switch has some decent games, but I really miss Iwata. He made sure the customer came first and that Nintendo always shipped products with character and the unique Nintendo personality. The Switch is pretty great, but it really feels sterile without things like the Mii Maker, eshop music, and even Miiverse. Who else thinks the eshop would be better with the old Wii Shop Channel music? It needs a bigger upgrade than that, but it'd at least feel more alive

    I’ve had many 3DSs over the years. Now I have three of them, just to make sure I won’t need to worry about not having one if things goes wrong. It’s definitely worth having at least one, even if you’re not a Nintendo fan. It’s library is so amazing that I’m still discovering some gems up to this day. Last year I gave SMT IV a try and I couldn’t stop playing it! Had played Persona 4 on Vita years ago and really enjoyed it, but it didn’t hooked at the time. The only problem is that games like this, that are that good and somewhat for a “niche” audience have been skyrocketing in price. Thankfully I’ve been collecting for years now.

      @@lucasfelipe8349 if you're still interested in this, the model does impact the library. the New 3DS has more controls and a better cpu. It will play many games better, but there are also games exclusive to it.
      If you want to look in reverse, I saw someone say there are at least 3 games that were better on the old 3DS. Monster Hunter 3, Resident Evil Revelations and Metal Gear Solid 3D. The reason for this, they said, was that they were designed to be played with an accessory called the circle pad pro. it added a thumbstick to the right side of the device. This accessory doesn't support the New 3DS. The New 3DS added a thumb control to the right side called the c-stick, but those who have played those games on both the old and new 3DS say that playing them with the c-stick instead of the circle pad pro is not good.

    8 were black, 7 were red, one is monster hunter 4 ultimate special edition, one was galaxy special edition, two are hyrule special editions and the last one was the SNES special edition
    i've kept all of them except for two in a cardboard box in the attic just to preserve them
    i gave one of the hyrule special edition 3DS's to my gf (one had near pristine shell condition, the other one was a bit scuffed) and i kept the monster hunter 4 special edition for myself (since the game i played the most on it was monster hunter 4 ultimate anyways so that was awesome)
    but now that the cost of just a single "new" 3DS XL skyrocketed to over 200$ for one in good condition that actually makes me feel really smart for buying that lot of 20 3DS's for 320$ back then lol

    If anything, I'd say the best bet Nintendo could have, is pull a Wii U and make a separate unit to connect to the switch and add the second screen along with a slot for 3DS games. If possible, making the unit work like a pro controller and work even if the switch is connected to a TV sounds like a great idea. Doubt it would improve the processing quality, but it could be done.

    Vis a vis the Ace Attorney games on the 3DS 👉🏻 Don't listen to what anyone says - Dual Destinies is one of the best games in the franchise and just a phenomenal game overall! Even if you're not an Ace Attorney fan, per se, I still think that game and it's story will be enjoyable to everyone❤️ (It's so good, it's just so good!!)

    Awesome video! Didn't know about the screen difference, very interesting. I feel like I should really recommend everyone who owns and uses a 3ds now to install custom firmware, I did it on mine and it's super easy and also great for future-proofing I think :)

    I recently picked up an O3DS and it’s not that bad to use. While it may cramp and dig into my hands after a little while, it was only $80 and the size makes it fit into my pocket very easily. The library of games is also fantastic.

    I went with the New 3DS LL (XL) because of the Monster Hunter X (Generations) grip for the system. The round edges of the system hurt my hands after hours of Monster Hunter. But with the grip I can go for hours. Also it originally had TN panels. But when a piece of a candy bar fell while eating it falling inside my hinge breaking the screen. I had Nintendo fix it. They replaced the broken one with IPS.

    We need to make a huge petition for them to remake old games and make atleast ONE more 3ds console and make old games like pokemon games and whatever else, or sell those games on the switch like the virtual console.

    I’m a late 3ds adopter and I literally never heard of Crimson Shroud before this video. Thanks for the recommendation.

    My N3DSXL has a TN top screen and IPS bottom. My Pokemon N3DS has both TN screens. Thanks for pointing this out for me, Kevin. 😑 Can't unsee the difference now. 😆

    OMG! I’m glad this showed up on my feed a week after buying a preowned New 2DS from The Exchange ($210, some body scruffs but really good condition 👌🏼).
    To give some insight, there are IPS New 2DSs’! I checked mine immediately as he mentioned and I have no color distortions when I checked it! Makes my purchase feel even more worth it since I went and sought this out on an impulse while in a GameStop talking to a rep 😂.
    ALSO: If you’re trying to link your old Nintendo ID account to your new purchase and can’t; call Nintendo Support for them to unlink your account from your previous 3DS. Took less than a day, was super easy, new my accounts and passwords, and proved my identity by purchase history. Took me a whole night to figure out what to do and waited till morning. Hope this helps. :)

    The ips screen does have black crush compared to tn tho but is more vibrant and bright. Tn screen has better color shades and natural black. Its like comparing Samsung tvs with LG
