Beautifully played ! Thank you, too, for the last hymn - great harmony, registration choice and words - thrilling thought of when we get to Heaven 'How shall I sing that Majesty which angels do admire ......... ten thousand times ten thousand sound Thy praise, but who am I ? ' For by grace are we saved through faith and not of ourselves; it is the gift of God. Ephesians 2.8
I'm so proud of you cause no organ no matter the size can scare you you always conquer whatever is presented before you and you always give a magnificent performance
Such fantastic hymns and such a beautiful organ played with such warmth and feeling. I really enjoyed listening to the hymns and seeing the organ. Thank you Richard. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇿🇦
Shame it was only 4 could have done with a couple more. Travelling by tube and bus because of train strike can be a bit stressful but a nice way to relax. Many thanks for the share.😊
Beautiful Richard, lovely hymns on a real majestic organ!👏👏🌹🙏❤️🔥 I think I liked the music of the last one best but the lord is my shepard is a lovely psalm
How shall I sing that majesty... what glorious sounds to accompany such magnificent a text! Thanks for sharing this Richard! Sometimes things as seemingly "simple" as these presented here can have an effect more profound than some great masterwork. Wishing you God's blessings in all you do here! 😇😍
First one is my favorite, i remember my Grandma who passed, she was british, im Half Filipino, she used to hum this song to put me to bed, i still feel warm and calm whenever i hear it. Im glad to have found this vid, i can have calming music right after a stressfull day
Merci beaucoup pour ce concert d'orgue dont le son est sublime Lots of thanks and 👋👋👋 to you Dear "Monsieur" to come and allow us to share your improvisa tion or other interpretation that I really enjoy to listen You are a very nice person and a "divin" player on this instrument Hope you'll play as long as possible 👍😊😘
I don't even know the last two hymns - maybe they're not known in America? But "I Vow to Thee" I do know, and as usual, I'm tearing up again. Just beautiful, and how nice to come across this on a Friday afternoon. Thank you!
Glorious rendition of 'Come, labor on' - one of my own favourites. I don't know why it doesn't appear in Australian hymnals (that I've seen, anyway) but I'm happy to hear it now! Thank you, Richard.
The THAXTED tune is one of my favorite hymn tunes! For my own funeral I’ve long wanted my church choir to do the Ralph Vaughn Williams “Te Deum”. They’re more than capable (our organist came from his position as First Assistant at Canterbury) but I’m afraid something that long might be overdoing it a bit. Turns out a newer Lutheran hymnal used by Canadians and some Yanks has a simplified text of the “Te Deum” set to THAXTED! So that’s the route we’ll go. And my soul will be amply satisfied.
Richard, thank you for that moving rendition of “I vow to thee my country.” I know of no other hymn that stirs my soul like this one. It reminds all of us, regardless of what country we are a citizen, of the ultimate sacrifice made by those before us.
Truly excellent playing with a consistent beat flowing between the verses, so keeping the rhythm going which helps congregations to sing along confidently; this skill seems to have been lost by so many including some of the top Organists. I’m not much of an Organist myself but I work with the rhythm and timing and I know how much it helps with the singing even with small congregations. Very well done!
Magnifique.C'est très bien de la part de Monsieur McVeigh de nous faire découvrir le son des orgues anglais.Et je les apprécie énormément.Les cathédrales anglaises sont sublimes pour abriter ces orgues.
Well done. Chichester's intonation is as glorious and unique as the unique facade. Your playing is superb. Speaking of the facade, I wonder what may be written on the paper behaind the toe of the central facade pipe (at 1:13) ?
Often, I don't get to hear the program at the time it's played, so I'm glad to hear it now on Sunday morning! Thank you, Richard. 😊 P.s. what glorious architecture, of the cathedral AND the organ!
Most if not all worship directed to the Lord that’s played on such an organ can only have a profound affect of the believer. Worship is our most desired ‘work’ for the Lord.
I feel your humble in music Jesus CHRIST speak to me. You have angel beside you sitting left and right..your playing sofly underful you thinking World are waiting. Solei deo gloria
What is the closing selection you played at the very end? Not the final hymn, but where you showed an aerial view of the cathedral and said your thank you's. I'm curious because I've heard it played many times before but don't know its title.
Great work-many thanks. A question, if I may-is the screen on the music desk a commercially available wireless display compatible with computers? If so can you say the make and model?
Unfortunately not, it’s a camera trick. I ‘placed’ the screen on the desk in post production. It’s a trick that started here on BIS, but you may see it on other channels now as well.

Absolutely wonderful!!! Thank you!!! Coe Fen made my day!! 😊
Yeah I see and hear you sounding magnificent! Wow the power of that organ amazing
Superb renditions on an excellent organ. Thank you for posting.
I'm so proud of you cause no organ no matter the size can scare you you always conquer whatever is presented before you and you always give a magnificent performance
Masterful performance of four of the most beautiful hymns ever written on a spectacular organ.

Splendid music played superbly. Thank you all.
Beautiful hymns on a beautiful pipe organ! Virtual Church introduced me to the lovely hymn "How Shall I Sing That Majesty".
Come Labor On is one of my favorite hymns. Thanks!!
Beautiful, Richard what a sound !

Wonderful vibrant colours of sound & great hymns that recall memories of decades gone by🙏🏼

Splendidly presented hymns on a magnificent organ! Love the on-screen words to sing along and not have to dig out a hymnal, thanks.

Hymns played with such skill and mirroring the text cannot help but stir the soul. Thank you Richard
This tingles my soul, well done Richard!

Really excellent stuff here, Richard! Great choices of hymns, wonderful organ, and masterful playing. Thank you.

Very nice sonorous organ and well registered on the fly! Thanks
Sehr berührend. Seine Hymne wurde gut gespielt. Danke Richard
The transept appears to act as a secondary resonance chamber! Love your registrations and much more distinct than in other cathedral organs. Lovely!
Absolutely all of your playing and the organ too, is magnificent! Thankyou so much Richard. You are a very special blessing to Joshua snd myself.❤
Very impressive! Beautiful performance!
Love that last hymn!
Glad I waited for the encore ❤️
Incredible sound and well playing. Thanks for sharing.

Come Labor On is traditionally played on the Sunday before Labor Day in the US. A great hymn with text equivalent!
Oh my! How special this was!! (Especially Coe Fen) ❤
One of my favorite hymns played so beautifully.

WHAT A MAGNIFICENT INSTRUMENT.
I feel your humble in music Jesus CHRIST speak to me. You have angel beside you sitting left and right..your playing sofly underful you thinking World are waiting. Solei deo gloria
WONDERFUL PLAYING 0N A MAGIFICANT INSTRUMENT.
That first one is my new favorite
Wow😊
It sounds so great on my Volvo truck stereo.
Maravilloso sonido del órgano , los himnos los conozco pero ya no se cantan en Chile 🇨🇱🎵🎹💚🎶🎵🎹
The action seems to be tracker throughout - unusual in an organ that size? Or are my eyes deceiving me?
It’s mechanical, with some electric assistance (although that is a bit temperamental!)
I like this organ👍
Is it not come labour on Richard! With a "u" ?
The first piece reminds me of Gustav Holts ,the Planets Suite.
It is! The tune Thaxted was written by Holst, based upon the central theme of Jupiter, Bringer of Jollity.
@@neilanyon4792 I have heard untold hundreds of hymns over the years but not this one. As soon I I heard this ,it was rather familiar .
He's buried at the cathedral

@@beautyinsound Ah, that makes sense and I did wonder!
Hello to my friend, Carmen Foster😊
Hello Gregory 👋
But a great 4 hymns.
Sock feet on pedals??? Yuck!!! Get some organ shoes, for crying out loud.
