Mille mercis pour cette magnifique interprétation. Vous jouez ce choral avec le même tempo qu'utilisait Pierre Cochereau, Jean Guillou et plus récemment Olivier Latry (dans son fabuleux Bach to the future). C'est impeccable. Bravo !!!
@@MariaNew-cg1tw Thanks for the lovely comment! I will be taking requests for a Christmas Broadcast soon, so keep an eye on the announcements section of the channel!
Wonderful! Listening to your version sends goosebumps down my spine. You chose the right tempo. Now this piece reveals its beautiful soothing quality with that typical mixture of sadness and happiness that caracterizes our great composer J. S. Bach. Btw: you organists nowadays have awesome (!) instruments at your disposal at home.
@@andreasisenberg8700 Thanks for this high praise! Indeed it is a quality JSB posesses very much. As for my instrument: it is a real blessing: playing organs from other styles inspires new interpretations of music!
Hi Tim, what a coincidence, I just updated Hauptwerk 8 to version 9 yesterday. I opened the Virgil Fox book and played "Erbarm dich mein, o Herre Gott" to test my new setup. Well here you are this morning playing that very piece. (Though much better than I.) Your played it perfectly and I enjoyed listening to you play. Of all the music I had learned, this one was my easiest sight reading piece. Thank you Tim. Keep up the good work and enjoy.
@@seanpeare-M0WSP Indeed that is the nice thing about it: it is not that hard, so you van focus all your efforts on the interpretation. Thanks for the comment!
@@TimvanElderen I wish Rhosmyedre (R.Vanghan Williams) was that easy, I am struggling with it. Looks easy but!!. Have you tried that one? Tim Ravalde said it was a hard piece to learn. Cheers.
@@wadeflorida I am just using the ‘manualiter’ version found online or in Barenreiter. However: I play the C.F. an octave down on a second manual, and the lowest voice in the pedal.
Very nice. Though, one needs a big acoustic like your sample set has to pull off the poignant pace. I have tried to play this very slowly but in a dry acoustic it can be dreadful to both play and listen to!
@@dougalderdice6796 Indeed that is the case! I also think that one can only use this slow pace if the solo voice is either a 16’ or 8’ pitch: a solo cornet just won’t cut it
A beautiful and great recording! Very well played! I like it very much! Thanks for uploading! Greetings from Germany!
@@carstenkling2566 Thanks for the lovely comment!
The slow tempo speaks volumes in this work, it brings real poignancy. What a lovely interpretation, thank you!
@@MarcusReeves Thanks for the lovely comment, I do indeed think the tempo helps: I got the idea from Richards version on BiS.
Sublime. This is such a poignant piece. Not played very often. An excellent rendition.
@@markfortuin7111 Thanks! Indeed it should be heard more at concerts if you ask me!

@@TimvanElderen yes please check it out. I can send you a copy. It's the music that is played at the end of VC.

Werkelijk een sublieme uitvoering van dit meesterwerk van Bach, ontzettend mooi! Dank en complimenten!

How lovely. ❤
La difficulté de cette pièce vient de son extrême simplicité apparente. Belle registration sur un Cavaillé-Coll ? Hypnotique.

prachtig thanks.
Very beautiful Tim! And I do love what you did with the solo line. Especially fitting for Remembrance Day. Somber but not sad. Just deeply respectful.
