In fact that was the first metal Sonic, first it was against Sonic in little planet, then against him in the death egg, until he became obsessed with ending Sonic, in the end he modified himself to be neo metal Sonic, metal maddnes and metal overlord

If they did now, I don't think they'd pull it off as well. Like they make the games overly child friendly now whereas back then the story had more depth and had a more serious tone at times with a good payoff. Hasn't really been like this since like Unleashed

But I've been going through a whole bunch of Sonic related media (Comics, shows, and of course games) and as far as writing goes, I rank the IDW Sonic Comic among the best. The Tangle and Whisper spin-off, in particular, is some of the best writing in Sonic related media, period. Oh, and the artwork is amazing too!
Metal's "hairstyle" resembles Shadow's. Instead of Red Stripes, they are white. His ability to transform and melt was copied from Chaos when he absorbed Chocola and Froggy. The spiked tail from Vector. The ability to fly from Rouge. Flame Thrower from Omega.

Is like seeing a loved one that once wasnt a "big threat" being corrupted by darkness and thrist of power, all you can do is just watch the destruction (im not saying Amy has a crush on Metal, besides they could be good supportive friends, like in Mania christmas episode, anyway).
Metal Overlord Sonic was the toughest Final Boss to defeat in reality. Because unlike the bosses before and after he didn’t have a weak point anywhere on his body! Only team blast could injure him...
The only Moment Where Metal became menacing again like in CD. Absolutely terrific! The loud noises, the sharp music, even the looks of fear on everyone's face. Amy just has the best reaction, scared of the thing that left emotional scars so long ago. Even Eggman seems concerned about the situation.
Back when Sega wasn't afraid to make their villains straight up terrifying. Unlike Eggman and Mephiles, he doesn't want to destroy or take over the world. He just wants to kill sonic and his friends. And he went all out to do it. For me he's the scariest villain in the franchise just because of his personal grudge and how far he'll go just to kill sonic, because unlike Eggman he has 0 morals. Now he's just comedic relief or shoved to the side. Here, he was horrifying
This is why Eggman IS a genius, he accidentally made a robot so advanced it turned against him and tried to start a robot revolution by molding itself into a Kaiju form

It's always funny to see this cutscene outside of my own experience with the Xbox version of the game that could not handle the pre rendered cutscenes at times, once the pipes start forming the frame rate would lock up so often😂
