Bone Miser is the same guy from the art of Waste Not, the enchantment that Jimmy was referencing. Awesome flavor win WotC
And the stuff he's carrying is inverted, in Waste Not the guy is holding a skull and is carrying a bag of trinkets, in Bone Miser it's the other way around.
I love it when you guys talk about cards like this in detail and have discussions because I think about 90% of the time when I get a card I think it just sucks and I just ignore it, but then you explain it in a different way and then it's like I kind of get it.
I'm calling it right now: Wildfire Devils is going to backfire in the next GameKnights, causing Prof. to say the line: "Where are your Lords of Chaos now?"

scarrboros Yeah I guess the real pertinent thing is that sure a 4/2 for 4 sucks but its ability can only be upside. It may be pretty meta dependent.

Apparently Anje isn't actually the progenitor, so they're an outside chance we could get another legendary Falkenrath someday (according to a blurb they did on her, the progenitor is dead and she's just the strongest of the Falkenrath line).
Is Olivia actually the progenitor? I didn't actually read into the inni vampires much!
Also that'd be more of a commander VS thing, I don't think GK comes out often enough for them to not do a promo for wizards for a vid now :( Especially with guestisodes and such
I think Edgar is the only progenitor and Olivia and anje are just the oldest and strongest
@@Andre_Solberg Well Edgar is THE progenitor, but i think they/we're talking like, the first Vampire that went "yeah well, I'm not a Markov anymore, i'm a Voldaren!" for example.
But I'd definitely believe that they're just the current oldest/strongest since isn't even Edgar dead/not around anymore?

On combustible gearhulk: I chose to take the damage once against a marchesa deck. I took 27. It was the three largest creatures in the deck.... I have always let them draw since then.
I've been running that gearhulk in feldon for a long time. It's basically a 3 mana draw 3 in that deck lol

Also I have a similar combo in a Rakdos deck where I play Temporal Extortion, wait to see if anyone will pay half their life to stop it, then copy it as many times as I can with Increasing Vengeance.
My friend runs it in his UR eldrazi deck, it's hilarious.

Pretty excited. Was building a madness/discard deck to play with friends after opening "Glint horn Buccaneer". Excited to get more support/shell for a deck mid build.

This wasn't super clear in the video, but if you cast a creature spell using its Madness cost, it will not trigger Flayer of the Hatebound, since it's entering the battlefield from the stack.
@@1berengan5 No, CervantesVI is correct. Flayer of the Hatebound does not look for discarded cards, it looks for cards entering the battlefield from the graveyard. When you cast a spell using madness, that card never even went INTO the graveyard (it is discarded to exile, then cast using a triggered ability). When it resolves, if it's a permanent spell, it does indeed enter the battlefield from the stack.
Love your videos, but as someone who is new to EDH, I would prefer it, if you put the "replacement cards" into the video description :)

Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion & Archfiend of Ifnir seem great additions to this deck, too! Neheb discards a bunch of cards and gets you the mana to pay for the madness triggers (or to play another big thing, like a Finale of Eternity). It also lets you easily pay for lots of Faith of the Devoted triggers and drain everyone for like 14.
Animate Dead is also solid inclusion. It's just good.

I played this deck today and I felt something was missing but I couldn't figure it out until now
It does a lot of stuff in a turn but when I needed to finish the game the answers weren't there
This deck is amazing and when your doing 10 things in one turn and your opponent asks what is going on, you tell them your playing madness and it is pure madness combos

yeah, that is a pretty choice. actullay when i saw "Anje Falkenrath
", what i thought was madness vampires deck and put "Olivia, Mobilized for War", "Falkenrath Gorger" and "Stensia Masquerade" in it. (some innistrad (SOI) guy passing trough)
I had actually built an Olivia, Mobilized for War Madness deck, and a fun include was Etali . Giving it haste with Olivia, or with Anger in the graveyard is awesome. Now, with the new Chainer, there's an additional way to grant it haste. Looking forward to that.
Also recommend Stolen Strategy. Really adds to the whole chaos theme of Madness.

Grave Upheaval. It's mana fixing and recursion.
Also, I did have a casual 60 phoenix tribal deck. EVERY time I played it, I was up against life gain. Man it lost hard to life gain. It was fun though.
The other Legendaries in this deck are actually cards that you would want in this deck
Beurt Alvarez I’d cut Greven not because he’s bad but because he’s just not quite synergistic enough. K’riik is going into my Yawgmoth deck so I can kill myself quicker and because it’s a flavour win and much better in Mono black.
Galvanized Gamer I’m not saying that you wouldn’t cut them in an optimal build, just that they all have synergy (K’riik doesn’t, but he is just completely and utterly busted). Compare that to the other pre cons.
I think war of the spark Neheb is an essential pick up for this deck
Eschewing goodstuff-ery (Vndalblast, PhyRena, etc.), here are my thoughts:

1. Oversold Cemetery - Squee is that good? How about that effect for everything?
My most hilarious situation with Chaos Warp: I shuffled my Oblivion Stone in, only to flip Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre! :D

Casting a creature for its madness cost, Doesn't it technically come from the exile? So flayer of the hate bound won't trigger,
Yes, and even if it were from the graveyard it still wouldn't trigger because it's being cast, coming off the stack and not directly from the graveyard.

Bloodthirsty Blade can get rid of an oracle of Muldaya or other similar utility creatures
I've built a madness deck before, and the suggestions your making aren't how you build a madness deck. The way my deck would always play out is I would get out my enablers (usually Olivia's Dragoon, or Rotting Regisaur) and essentially cascade my hand onto the battlefield. Madness synergizes beautifully with hell-bent, and whenever I played Bloodhall Priest was one of the most potent cards on the battlefield.
The commander I used at the time was Olivia, Mobilized for War.
But when your commander is better at Madness than most other enablers... You don't need much else

Flayer of the Hatebound is a non-bo with Chainer. On scryfall.com it states that CASTING has the card come from the Stack therefore NOT the Graveyard. Madness is cast from EXILE.
I personally am more confused now as it seems they may be confusing new players since this looks to do what you want, but actually does not
*technically the Undying EtB will give it haste, but Chainer does not get the Warstorm Surge effect going from the Castings.
I expected you guys to go in more of a discard theme, with cards like archfiend of ifnir, but you mad lad took a graveyard theme. Ive never done a graveyard-focused deck and this just might be my first
There's the possibility of playing vampire subtheme with Falkenrath Gorger, which gives all vampires madness.
Building around that creature is so vad though because you have to get it out of the 99.

Does Flayer of the Hatebound trigger on madness cards? I thought madness cards went from the hand to exile then to play.

regardless of if it technically enters from the stack, Madness cards are exiled when they are discarded and are never actually in the graveyard if you choose to cast them.

Why does jimmy think black and red have trouble drawing cards?
I mean, red's pretty terrible at it. Most of red's "draw" is either the impulsive draw mechanic where you exile the top card of your library and can play it that turn, or draw + discard, which generates no card advantage. There are the Wheel of Fortune effects, but only a few, and they're pricey (Wheel itself is what, 70-100 bucks?). Black's better at it, I agree, but it's generally at the cost of life - Painful Truths, Read the Bones, even Necropotence starts to get heavy on the life cost eventually. That, and/or it's slow, as with Undercity Connections or Phyrexian Arena. Black just has very few ways to draw several cards each turn, multiple turns in a row (barring those slow, relatively weak enchantments). Compare that to Blue/Green, which has cards like Thrasios, Triton Hero, Tatyova, Benthic Druid, and much more powerful enchantments at the same mana cost like Rhystic Study and Elemental Bond.
TL;DR - I agree that Black is okay at drawing cards, though not in comparison to Blue or even Green. Red, however, is pretty bad at it outside of a handful of cards.
@@pielord33321 lol black is far superior to green in card draw and almost on par with blue. What on earth are you talking about? Black's card draws cost life but usually cost way less mana than their blue equivalents. Green's draw is usually just pathetic - which is why harmonize is so popular in green but its equivalent is never used in blue.

@@pielord33321 Black has the second best card drawing ability in the game. It is generally more black intensive though to cast those spells but mana fixing in a multicolor deck can get around this.
Depending on how many creatures are in the deck, isn't Garna, the Bloodflame, a potential good addition to the deck? She gets back creature cards that you discarded and also gives haste to your other creatures.
You can put more creatures and would be very cool.

Bontu's Monument and Hazoret's Monument are also interesting additions: both reduce your creatures' costs and one is an alternate wincon while the other fits the draw and discard theme of the deck perfectly.

Azra Oddsmaker is an awesome madness enabler and card draw engine if you have creatures that can consistently connect.

I'm going to comment this on each of these videos. Include a few non-budget upgrades that are deck specific (ie. we don't need to know that Damnation is good in a black deck).

yeah, its basically a Split card with "auto-fuse" if you spend both Colors
This is the deck I'm most excited about black, red and black white are my favorite color pairs. I built a judith the scourge diva deck and it destroys.
I'm one of those that want to build mono red pheonix tribal not sure how though.
The best upgrade is to get rid of the red and go full black with K'rrik as the commander and Tutor for Aetherflux, Gravecrawler, and Carrion Feeder.

I'm personally gonna add Azra Oddsmaker, since it gives me the option of discarding every turn- a good backup for when Anje's not on the field.
I’m pretty much inclined to just go ham and build this as a Chainer deck, it seems really sweet to me.
As for cards with Anje- dunno. Smuggler’s copter maybe? That 3 mana madness vampire from innistrsd that sacrifices creatures?

Library of leng, in the wording of the card, the cards you discard are still - by definition - discarded and since it will go to the top of your library you draw it back with the commander add in cards that ping opponents when you either draw or discard cards and you instantly win
It doesn't work like that. In the case of Anje discarding a card isn't an effect, but a cost, so it won't trigger library of leng.

Aeon Engine is basically soft-banned in my playgroup, so it was the easiest cut I had to make. Ghitu Chronicler works wonders in the deck, especially with Chainer, making it a repeatable source of spell recursion
Living Death can also be an emergency board wipe that bypasses indestructible, if graveyards are empty or what's in the opponents' graveyards is less dangerous than what they have on the battlefield...

I don't think you should cut madness cards even if they're bad because with your commander they're just free deckslots. If you run like 30 madness cards even if they're super situational and you don't cast them in 99% of the times you discard them you still basically play a 69 card deck now because you can just discard them and get a new card for no cost with your commander. And a 69 card deck is just way more consistend than a 99 Card deck
Considering how many of these cards are in my Judith Aristocrats deck, I may just take your suggestions, along with Judith, the Mayhem Devil, and a couple of others to combine the Flayer/Warstorm pings with pings from Judy and her friends.
Glint-Horn Buccaneer from M20 is great in this deck. It’s a 2/4 creature for 1RR which deals 1 damage to each opponent whenever you discard a card. It has haste and can loot when it attacks. And it’s currently only $0.25.
also chainer says 'activate this ability only once EACH turn' so like kadena, you can mess around with flashing stuff in using madness. (because madness lets you cast it at any time)
I bought the 4 decks cuz it was amazing stuff all the command zone videos, but i don't have even the group to play with! :D hahah

I bought this deck when it was released, Rakdos is my favorite Guild. I went more toward the Madness theme.
I knew Balthor would be in the in list. :D
Tortured Existence and Phyrexian Reclamation are solid cards in a deck like this. My Malfefor deck plays a lot like this deck and it often just steals games out of nowhere. Chainer, Bone Miser and some of the Madness cards will be added into Malfegor for sure.
As much as people hate it, a Worldgorger loop would be a decent way to win. Easy ways to draw Animate Dead, and dump the Worldgorger Dragon
That intro was just pure gold.
Havnt finished the vid or even seen the decklist. But I’ve already pulled some cards just for this deck.
Glint horn buccaneer. The Minotaur that when you discard a card pings everyone for one. Psychosis crawler as another one
Archfiend of ifnir cause it’s archfiend of ifnir
Volcanic visions and another enchantment forget the name. One turns your lands in hand into shocks and the other gives all lands cycling
Bag of holding, shadow of the grave and garna the blood flame which let you cycle through your deck again.
Couple of the cards from amonkhet which become big threats and have to soak up removal or risk one shoting someone.
Just replace the non madness cards with cheap madness creatures from inistrad and the decks gonna be broken op and so much fun that will grab you all your combo pieces early
Vicious Shadows would be great in this deck and as a bonus it's a budget friendly card.
Chainer makes Etali, Neheb Dreadhoarde, Ilharg, and basically all the fun red legendaries better as he gives them Double chances of surviving (recast) and haste is always what Neheb needed to be solid.
Neheb pairs well with K'rrik in BR as Neheb handles the R and K'rrik the black in a cost. Just a shockingly good synergy.
Preordered it with my CK credit before it went up to 44.99. Madness was my favorite deck i ever played in SOI/EMN standard.
Jimmy I loved your suggestions, but I think some of the cards suggested by Commander's Quarters are more useful in helping the deck win out of nowhere (busted damage and boardwhipes on creatures where discard matters)
I would have went with "Can I play with Madness?" By Iron Maiden instead, considering its the madness deck.

Shadow of the Grave, Apocalypse and Archfiend of Ifnir is just too good, also that m20 minotaur seems awesome.
I got this deck to get into commander. It is a little low in power and figuring out the most solid win con for it is hard. I'm waiting for my Falkenreath Gorger to come in, cause that just makes all creatures have madness, which I really like

Bone Miser is on Waste Not....I love it can’t wait to buy the card.
Notable difference: Waste Not is when opponents discard. Bone Miser is when YOU discard, aka 10 times better in this deck.
I just got this deck so I could have a companion for my 2017 Vampire deck. some cards from here might get eaten by that deck. but I will play with it for a bit. I put in the spare Alesha I had in the deck.
Blasphemous Act is still easily one of the best board clears in red and it is only about $4 right now.

Next thing Josh is going to say is "You going to pay for smothering tithe?"

How is Bloodthirtsy Blade not one of the top 5 new cards of the set?! it is effectively non-removal threat removal. It co-opts a threat potentially forcing it to suicide itself or deal damage to an opponent, and at any time on your turn you can reuse the effect for 1 mana! Granted, there is not specific synergy with the deck, but 3 mana (cast 2, attach 1) for a reusable removal/interactive artifact is a steal.
The ability to take the scariest non-hexproof creature on the board and say "point this at anyone but me". and to have that effect just stick around is incredible. The effected player won't likely care that much, to want it gone early game, and the other players will likely point creature removal at the big thing rather than remove the artifact.
Outside this deck, this is huge with cowardice/dismiss into dream in blue.
Played a tournament with the new decks and made someone die by commander damage with bloodthirsty blade.
Use archfiend of ifnir for all the discard stuff in addition you could add a couple discard stuff that makes opponents discard and throw in waste not
Bag of holding is pretty bonkers in this deck XD
You could make it into a tribal vampire madness deck, then you get loads of vampire effect cards that long game buff, especially with enchantments like stensia masquerade, plus, vampire cards don't tend to break the bank (obvious exceptions)
on Torrent of Souls ..... if black mana is spent, you get a creature from your gy to your field...... and if red is spent creatures target player get +2/+0 and haste
I like to play haakon stromgald scourge and nameless inversion in any deck with a discard outlet and black in its identity
Blue oyster cult madness to the method woulda been decent but Ozzy Osbourne crazy train is good
Can I play with Madness by Iron Maiden?
So, on the topic of board wipes, Blasphemous Act is a great Board wipe in Red that actually is affordable for everyone, with the precons and looking at them, most of them are going wide, and Blasphemous Act just works, as well as In Garruk's Wake, which is one-sided glory all for the cost of 9 mana. These two cards are cheap, fantastic in the deck, and honestly worth the price. Crypt Incursion is a cheap source of life gain, all for your opponent(s) putting creatures in their yard so you can exile them! 3 life per Creature for B2 is just amazing, and a valuable resource to stop any other deck from just ruining everyone's day.
I'm still testing the deck but I think it is worth it to cram every single madness card in it. There are 40 that are commander legal.The trick is to rarely ever cast the cards that you are discarding. Because of her rummage ability, you basically turned your 99 into 59. . That's a lot more potential consistency. Other than Gibbering descent at around $4, the madness cards are all super cheep to buy so this could be a great budget commander. Spend a little on madness "deck thinning" and then splurge a bit on a few win cons. 18 of the madness cards are creatures, making cards like Living Death much more effective, especially if Flayer of the Hatebound was in that graveyard or on the battlefield without a counter too.
