May I ask ... In which county are you? ... I'm from Africa and the amazing knowledgeable ladies on a farm taught me how to bake bread in a hole in the ground or using a termite nest. I have passed that on to my son doing it in the back yard in the city.. 😂

It's so that your sufuria doesn't burn when you're baking and it holds some heat when you're preheating before you put the cake on top of it
