- FRUGAL LIVING video is here! The cost of living and the price of food has increased so much that many people use a food bank or food pantry to make ends meet. The food pantry is a great resource to obtain food and household supplies. There is no need to go hungry when there are great resources out there for everyone to use, if you qualify. I encourage you to apply to your local food pantry or food bank if you need help with groceries. It's also a great place to meet new people in the community. If you do not qualify for the food pantry or the food bank then please check out your local churches as that could be another option to get help.

Food Haul & Food Pantry Hauls Are Such A Blessing To Be Able To Have
There is no shame in going to a Food Pantry, a Food Bank or a local church for help with groceries. The cost of food and the cost of living is high. If you have low-income, lower income or no income then the food pantry may be a great option for you! Inflation prices are rapidly increasing, so more people are using their community resources and programs than ever before. Using your local community resources to help offset the cost of food can help you stretch your paycheck or retirement funds further. Keep in mind that sometimes the food has gone bad. There are times I have received items from the food pantry that were spoiled. Sometimes the food is very out of date and not suitable. Please check the best by dates! If you receive spoiled items, then I'm sure it was an accident. Food banks and food pantries move a lot of inventory and there are times when the food has turned. They have a lot of food that comes through and they're not perfect. Volunteers help rotate and shelf products at the food pantry. Just keep your eye out for best by dates to make sure you are getting the best quality items you can find!

I live a Frugal Lifestyle. I shop sales and squirrel away supplies for winter. I am mindful to stock up on everyday items to save money in the long run so I can pay for daily living expenses like electricity. Every purchase I make is a financial investment in my future. It could be a bottle of water or a can of beans. Part of my frugal living lifestyle is using my local food pantry and shopping at thrift stores. Each organization has their own rules and if you qualify, you become a consumer to their program so please follow their rules to maintain a good relationship with your food pantry or food bank. I still have bills like everyone else and I budget according to my finances. Although I am considered financially poor or low-income, I do not feel poor. I eat well.

HOW TO GET FOOD BANK HELP?
Contact your local churches or you can ask the county. There is nothing wrong for wondering how to get food bank help. Each county has a social services department that can direct you to food pantry resources in your area.
WHAT FOOD DO YOU GET FROM A FOOD BANK?
All types! I get all types of food from the food bank from unknown brands to name brands. Each shopping trip is different. I also get a lot of seasonal vegetables to cook with. Some food pantries offer staple items like beans and lentils, other food banks may even offer organic food.
HOW DOES A FOOD PANTRY WORK?
Every Food Bank and Food Pantry has their own set of rules, so make sure to call and speak with staff that can guide you to apply. Some go by how much money you make (income guidelines).
FOOD PANTRY NEAR ME TO DROP OFF FOOD?
The best way to find a location near you is to contact your local churches, google search it or contact social services.
HOW TO QUALIFY FOR FOOD BANK?
They go by how much money you make in most cases.

Hi, to keep the herb plant alive you need to separate it into three different pots so it has room to grow! It will grow so much better and you’ll have a lot more!

Also, melt some of that brie cheese and dip apples in it. It is so delish.

Loved seeing that likke Chick cake at the panty. With those golden berries with the moldy one, you may already know this but your berries when you get them from there, dump them in a bowl with cold water and a splash of white vinegar. swish them around and let them sit for about 5 mins. It will kill the mold that you may not see on the rest of them and you can end up having them for a weeik or two longer. Works great with grapes as well. And it is a game changer for raspberries which last like hardly a few days usually.

My favorite type of apples, tortillas make great pizzas! The basil plant needs repotted, I specifically look for sick plants when I go plant shopping, I miss being a nurse and find it where I can 😊...that cheese tray and berry tray looks amazing....I have the same shelf on my porch, right now I have a porcelain amish woman on it, 3 day lilies, a begonia and a pot of yellow poppy seeds...so glad to have u back, great haul, tyfs...stay blessed

I use the reusable silicone bags to store some of my food in my mini fridge to save space. It's really like a game of Tetris in there sometimes. Lol
I want to try those bags! I saw some at the thrift store but they got bought while I waited for them to go on sale. Yes, life with a mini-fridge is like playing Tetris for sure!

It's funny . As a child, the frosting was the best part of a cake . Now , as an older adult , I shave off the frosting . Especially if it's that whipped cream type of frosting or /and is a bright color ( dye ) .
The bright colored frostings are so pretty to look at, but I do understand the impact it can have on my health. I try to make it work for me. Bye bye frosting! I love cake frosting but it's just too much for my system to handle.
I have Crohns and I also have lactose issues with some forms of dairy . I have to pick & choose my foods wisely or else I regret my choices .
I can imagine that must be quite challenging to manage. I'm glad you are informed about which foods work for your dietary needs!

Lotsa goodies mmmmmm. I put a paper towel, or coffee filter in between the berries to store. They last awhile longer. If you add a lil chicken to your cheese tortillas it'll add more protein 💪🏽. My fav food pantry item is definitely the fancy cheese platter 😁.
Good idea on the paper towel / coffee filter! I'll have to try adding chicken to the cheese tortilla (I am rotating some canned goods now and have chicken to eat). I enjoy the fancy cheese platters, too, they are great to get! Especially with the marcona almond!

I love shrimp, don't eat it often tho cause of gout...so easy to sauté in little olive oil, some seasons, little pepper, add to some stir fry... yum...
You know I love pepper! I haven't tried the shrimp yet, but looking forward to it!
The shrimp was a fantastic find. Shrimp are great in a wrap. Tortilla, salad mix, cherry tomatoes halved, grated cheese and any dressing or mayo and chopped pickles (we like dill with shrimp) . These are nice as the weather warms up. Or make a salad. Make fried rice add shrimp to warm them at end of cooking.
I think you'll enjoy the shrimp they're so versatile and with your creativity you'll come up with some good tips. Enjoy😊

I love guacamole, too! The salad combo turned out fantastic, so glad to get all that I got. The food pantry is very generous!
Gor-gon-zola, it's Italian blue cheese. Goldenberry is another name for gooseberries. They just call them salad shrimp because they are small and wouldn't be preferable for frying or making a scampi but you can totally do that with them. People just like bigger shrimp for those types of meals. You just need to careful because they are precooked. You could make a scampi pasta, just defrost the shrimp and add at the last minute just to heat them but not over cook.
Physalis (golden berries) have nothing in common with gooseberries.
Ah it's blue cheese! Thank you for letting me know. The goldenberries / gooseberries are really good. What a pop of flavor! I like the pasta and shrimp idea, that sounds like a good meal. I do enjoy seafood. It makes sense that the size of the shrimp are good for salads because they look bite-sized!

My food pantry doesn’t have those wonderful desserts and other items your pantry has.
I've heard that many food pantries are drive up only or the items are not what people like. I think my food pantry is set up the way it is because they coordinate with "high end" grocery stores. They set up the food pantry to make shoppers feel like it's a grocery store to help folks feel more comfortable. It's ran very well!

Great Scores Sarah!! the salad shrimp are called that because they are tiny. Used in shrimp salad and stuff. You can also just sprinkle them on a regualr salad too so good. If you ever go to red lobster you can get them as an add on to you garden salad to make it more fancy. lol. They are fun. I get them sometimes for the house. YOu don't have to cook them really they can just thaw in water, or you can super quickly blanche them on the stove or with water from your tea kettle.
Adding shrimp to salad, I don't think I've ever tried that. I will have to give it a try! I do enjoy seafood. I haven't been to a seafood restaurant in years! Sound like fun.
If your basil plant doesn't survive, you can let it dry and collect all of the leaves. That's your dry basil, soil and a biodegradable pot that you can still reuse.

Cleaning my refrigerator wish it was a mini fridge all the shelves would fit in the dishwasher but it's getting much better when I was young i could do it all in one day. Love the turtle.
Cleaning out a refrigerator is quite the chore! I know what you mean. Anytime I work on a project, I take breaks when needed. The chores will always be there to come back to. It is nice having a mini-fridge. Putting it up onto the storage rack really helped. Before, it was closer to the floor and became frustrating to get into! Mr. Turtle just won't help me with chores. I guess his job is to look pretty outside! Have a wonderful day!

Those golden berries are also known as ground cherries and those are one of my favorites. That big container of berries also looks really very tasty. Okay Mr. Turtle don't eat the basil. Oh, that big bag of shrimp is so awesome I love shrimp that is like my ultimate favorite food. Oh, that pizza idea is a pretty cool way to do it.
All of the berries were so good! I enjoyed the pizza a lot. I was given the advice to split the Basil plant into three pots, so it has room to grow. I'll give it a try and fingers crossed it will work! Seafood is a favorite of mine, too.
Maybe separate the raspberries from the other berries ? I find that raspberries develop mold quicker than the other berries .

I love shrimp cocktail. If you have cocktail sauce, you could mix the shrimp in using as much cocktail sauce as you like and add it to a salad. Squeeze a bit of lemon on top

Hi Sara, another great food pantry haul with your yummy meals! I love the way how you used the tortillas for your meals! Also Ilike to make rolls with tortillas, you can use the salad veggies and cheese and meat and then roll them up! Can eat it hot or cold! Just a thought for ya ❤❤❤

Hi Sarah I love watching you from the UK. I am sure you must have told us before but I would like to know what you are allowed to take from the food pantry ie how many of each item. Take care x (not being fresh that's how a lot of us over the Pond sign off messages!)
So glad you are enjoying my videos! Thank you for watching from the UK! Great question, the food pantry has guidelines for each category of items. Some items are flexible like bread, desserts, fruits and veggies, meaning that the max can change during a shopping trip! They evaluate how much they have, how many clients have been served and what food is expected to arrive. Some items are pre-determined. Tissue paper, soup and canned meats is 2 unless inventory is very low, then they may decrease to 1 can per category. I think they are called Golden Berries. They have a waxy texture but taste yummy. They are sweet!

I think it would be wonderful to get a small pet. Probably a little dog that can be given a "care free living" life! I have a strong interest in learning about food as medicine. I needed to lose weight, and lost 40 pounds by monitoring the carbs!

Yes! My home is 455 square feet on the inside with one bedroom and one bathroom! The bedroom has a closet.
