I absolutely love the phone. The color shift has had zero effect on my day to day life. The Saturated color option gives me the look of my Nexus 6P. The front facing speakers are awesome, the phone is buttery smooth, and the battery life is INSANE. A two and a half hour drive home with Google maps and Spotify running simultaneously only drained about 15% battery. It's incredible.
the battery life is amazing. with moderate use I have gotten 2 days out of it. with my normal heavy use, including google maps and google play at the same time I still get home at the end of the day at about 40%... it is almost frustrating cuz I always use my phone as my clock but I am often loathe to plug it in all night when there is still like 50 or 60% left at the end of the night. now I use an old tablet as my clock. lol
This! I find the battery to be not talked about enough in reviews. For me it's been outstanding and I push my devices pretty hard. And that camera continues to surprise me with almost every photo I take with it.
I purchased this phone on Black Friday and I don't regret it. It's a great product. I love the stock Android experience and I think I'll stick with the Google line of phones from here on out.
What makes it not worth it?? Me being a Pixel2 user I think it is more then worth it and it. Having software that is usable always helps as opposed to the extras that will bog the phone down after a while with notable updates.
Yeah, IP67 is just Water resistance at the same level, just for less depth/time. But for most users for people, they likely won't have their phone drop to the max depth of IP68 unless if your job involves it, then you would likely get an S8 Active or a case to add water resistance
Well given the samsung is ip68 with a headphone jack...it is silly how this isn't as high as that with supposedly the advantage of having no headphone jack
I love my pixel 2 xl so much. I literally have no complaints. Battery is awesome, os is so smooth and clean, camera is breathtaking and the screen is great! After the update the screen rocks and I love the aspect ratio of it. Please get the pixel 2 xl if you're in the market for Android
Yup, i agree with you on this. The phone received way too much negative press at it's release, i won't say that it's unreasonable or anything as the phone is pretty expensive and good quality hardware is something we take for granted from flagships nowadays. But the phone is absolutely amazing right now with all the software fixes brought by Google, definitely a phone you should consider if you are looking to upgrade. I create tech based contents. If you could spare some time kindly do try my channel out.
I went from the S8+ to the Pixel 2XL. Unless you put the two screens side-by-side, I don't think a normal user will care about the difference. In fact, I think it looks pretty damn good. No regrets switching.
Adam Benko: I am a recovering Nexus user. My last Nexus was the 6 from Moto. I miss the pure Android experience. Don't get me wrong, the S8s are great phones and I liked mine. It's mostly personal preference. I just like the extra software features of the Pixel more than those in the S8s. I gave my S8+ to my son and he loves it.
Same. I was original Pixel user, switched to S8+ but started missing stock android, camera etc. Traded S8+ for Pixel 2 XL. Samsung phone software is too bloated.
how was the speed difference? does the pixel 2 xl feel snappier than s8+? I want a pixel 2, but they have ditched way too many features that i need on a daily basis.
I have the Panda version of the 2XL and I love it. had it about a month now and it just gets better. everything he says is true. the camera is amazing. I love it unlocking my chrome book. and I love Android Oreo. I think it is a really good looking phone and personally I prefer the look to the Samsung. this replaces a Note 5 for me and I practically ran from Samsung. I loved the note 5 in the beginning. it was a great phone. but over time I grew to hate the software. Samsung's skin really bothered me as time went on. the note replaced a moto x and a few months in I really wished I'd waited longer before replacing the Moto X. I missed it. the Moto skin was barely there and the software difference is really noticeable for me. so I am just so grateful to be back to Pure Android. Everything just works really well. no lag, no hiccups. and BTW I keep my display on the middle setting, boosted. I don't like the oversaturation of Samsung displays. I really prefer the slightly boosted natural screen.
Wendi martin google cant sell 50million phones like apple & samsung can.....proof no one cares about that cheap ass pixel phone with theyre cheap ass screens lol 😊😂😂😂💀
Great Battery life Great speakers Amazingly Great camera Good screen Great build Pure stock Android Buttery smooth experience 3 years of support/updates Water and dust resistant Unlimited photo storage The only con (that may not be a con for everyone) is no headphone jack. Still love this phone and have no regrets buying it!
The s9 will do the same thing, if these devices keep the old technology there will be a much lower demand for wireless or more specifically bluetooth. Wireless technology will improve faster if there is a demand for it. This is just another switching phase in technology, like switching from Floppy Disks to Hard Drives, everybody complains and makes an uproar, then they see the advantages and improvements and start liking the change. Its not easy to switch from old to new technology, its a painful transition, we just have to put up with it, technology isn't cheap. We already have reliable replacements for transferring data like, airdrop, NFC, bluetooth (which is improving but will improve faster with demand), wifi, 3G, 4G and soon 5G. The headphone jack will be ancient in 2- 3years...... Heck it already is, the headphone jack is 147 YEARS OLD, i think its time for it to go...... in an age of wireless. Also the pixel doesn't have any kind of water resistance at all.
syed zohaib yeah I agree, they basically almost took a step back with excluding it. The first gen pixels made it a point of emphasis in their advertisements that they had a headphone jack and it was done in a way that took a jab at Apple but then they just follow them the very next gen. Such a weird decision.
Omar Patel yeah that's weird. I get at least 5 and half hours easy. I use RUclips a lot along with music streams, phone calls and text and I'll end the day at about 20%. I don't have hog apps like Facebook running at any point so check that out in the battery statistics
Pixel 2 gets 3 years of software support Google. That alone should make people want to get this phone even by the end of next year since it will still have 2 years left of support by then. Future proof.
Mel Salas not really future proof being only 2 years, I would 5 years is a good amount of time especially for higher end phones that can easily keep up, even phones with the snapdragon 800 and above can still run the latest android when optimised properly, developers are just lazy and manufacturers are just greedy bringing nothing really new or exciting each year
Alan Tinsley not sure if your replying to me or the OP, but five years I would expect, Apple support their devices for similair time periods, and seeing as Google develop android and make the hardware it runs on, I would expect five years from them, Samsung etc are a little different I suppose but as Google owns android they should support their devices the longest to help the fragmentation and not all least set an example
Mel Salas That is probably a good selling point but for me, coming from a Note 5 I haven't really seen a need for updates (aside from maybe security updates). The Note had so many real life usable features that OS updates wouldn't really add much. Not to be a Debbie Downer but it seems like the Pixel 2 is a compromise phone in a lot of ways. No features to start but updates that probably won't add as many features as I could get from Samsung isn't really my idea of future proof. But that's just me...
Mark Smith Yeah I'm with you on the updates point, personally it's not something that I look for in a phone, I always find updates mostly buggy if they bring in new features half the time, or ruin the battery life, im on an iPhone 7 plus at the minute but I'm always switching back and forth, im a fan of the note line, had the note 3 which I loved, the note 4 which was great, however the board died and I got a 7 plus, however I do like the note 8! Not a fan of the pixel line there doesn't seem nothing there that stands out from the rest, the nexus lineup was better and the price was eye catching but even that started to climb after the nexus 5 which ruined the USO
I had the pixel the 5 inch now I switch to the pixel 2 XL, and I have no issues of blue tint or nothing its a great phone love the pixel line of phones. the camera is better than the last one and I thought it was impossible . great pictures every time, multitasking is great, highly recommended,
Don't listen to that troll... I went from 6P to S8+, and I really missed my 6P. So I dumped it and got the P2XL. The P2XL is the real upgrade from the 6P. Keeps the stereo speakers, stock android, solid metal build (like a tank this thing) and adds the best camera in a smartphone, much better bezel/screen ratio, water resistance, upgraded processor, WAY improved battery life (biggest flaw of my 6P), and a few pixel only software tweaks (and unlimited photo storage for 2 year). I didn't think the Pixel OG was that big an upgrade from the 6P (and a downgrade in someways), but the P2XL is for sure. I've had a shit load of phones, and this is the best overall package I've tried. Samsung has a better screen, but everything else on this is better (software, battery, camera, speakers, durability)
*the poor screen resolution and lack of a stylus are my reasons for not even looking twice at the pixel, the endless need for the stylus for signing online and email documents is the reason i went with the phone i have now which i shouldn't even need to mention at this point*
I think the screen thing was blown out of proportion. I just received my xl and it's great because I never vide my screen. At such odd angles no matter how hard I try.
I came from owning a Samsung Galaxy S8+ and I don't have a single complaint about the Pixel 2 XL. From the quick and smooth stock Android to the amazing cameras and software, to everything else in between, it's been nothing but a pleasure to work with. I've had 2 micro SD cards (from Samsung and from SanDisk) fail on my and cause me to lose THOUSANDS of photos when I had my Galaxy S7 Edge Plus and S8+. So I started utilizing Google Photos even back then as a backup solution. Now, my photos get saved directly to Google Photos so it's just stupid nice to have it as my default photo storage solution and never have to worry about running out of space.
I went through 3 2xl's because of dead pixels and pink /green hued screens. Never bothered by the blue tint. Went back to my small pixel 2 as that is flawless besides terrible black/dark crushing.
I have the panda 2XL and I love the phone. No more boring IOS to look at everyday with the inability to make any changes to my home screen or anything for that matter. After reading the comments, I used to be an iPhone head, and man, do apple sheeps really hate on google. Like the hate is soooo real. Idk why anyone with an apple phone hates so much.... maybe because they're afraid of the truth.. Pixel is better? Every time I see anything pixel related, there is always that one Apple sheep bashing google with terrible facts and super subjective views. My phone choice is based on preference, like I don't use wireless charging for anything, and I don't see myself using it either. I sleep, wake up, before i jump in the shower i charge my phone, come out and already 60+% better then it was in just 20-30 mins. wireless charging will take forever and definitely in today's world not practical at all. #justsaying
Bezels represent inefficient use of space, the way technology usually evolves is the opposite of that.....by having your phone with a lot of bezels is like saying the technology on your phone is not modern enough to take more use of space......Look at TVs for example, would you like to go back?
claud rapoza yeah, it's real efficient when apple and essential are forced to add ugly notches due to the dumb war on bazels. Like the thinness wars. It goes too far where there's no practical benefit aside from marketing and hype. Shame ppl fall for the new shiny bell
here's my problem with pixel 2XL, for the price I'm paying I SHOULD not have to compromise on anything, no wireless charging, no IP68, not the greatest screen, come on. Can we go back to the nexus days when the price was more affordable, then compromising would not have been big deal. I want perfect for 849$, for 600$ I can make those compromises. Also people should really do reviews after a year or so when shit starts hitting the fan with batteries and speed. Of course brand new phone have great battery life
Partho Paul , the phone has been discounted through Google and Verizon most of Christmas season. $300 off cannot be touched. $550 for the XL is worth it
Had the 2xl. Thing crashed 12 times the first night. Screen was not up to par. Screen also had a hollow feel and sound to it. May had been my unit but I suspect all the problems are there on many. Got mine from Verizon - sent it back.
David hunsinger, I hear you there. I picked up an unlocked original Pixel. I want to upgrade to the Pixel 2, but won't since it's not on AT&T. I'll probably go with the Mate 10 Pro in February, or wait on a new Motorola flagship. No other phones on AT&T are worth it.
David hunsinger You made the right decision; V30 is *much* better than Pixel 2 XL with its shitty screen, rattling speakers, and absent headphone jack !!
I think videos like this are a must, in these times where reviews are rushed out after a week consumers need tech sites to revisit the initial reviews after a month or two to really judge a phone, bravo.
I just got the Pixel 2 XL Wednesday (12/27/17). I spent a lot of time trying to get used to it after having the Galaxy Note 5 and loving it. I stopped trying and started enjoying the phone right away. Yesterday watched several videos, went through the setting over and over again, used the camera and shot some video, worked in my wood shop for 5 hours listening to music the whole time and, Oh yeah, used the phone to make and receive several calls. Probably left something out but when I got to bed I still had 38% battery life. First impressions…excellent. I almost didn’t get this one due to the bad reviews concerning the screen. In the end I opted for the bigger screen because I really like the bigger screen. Coming from the Note 5 that would have been hard to give up. The saturation issue hasn’t affected me nor have I changed the saturation settings. I don’t spend a lot of time looking at my phone from the side so the blue hue is unlikely to bother me. I am concerned, long term, about burn in and if that happens I will become disappointed. Time will tell. All of my smart phones have been primarily tools. The camera plays a big part in documenting Information and recording end results. I find I make a lot of notes and for that reason I will miss the Note 5. I take a lot of personal images and having those at my finger tips to review and enjoy is also very important and the Pixel does that so much better than the Note 5. It has twice the on board memory and unlimited cloud storage. With my Note this was beginning to become a big problem. What were the main reasons I ended up making the choice to purchase the Pixel 2 XL? 1) Camera 2) Storage 3) Price One last point. I have owned 5 smart phone three of which were Samsung Galaxy phones. Quality were the first three reasons I stayed loyal to the brand even though I had some serious problems with the S 5. There is one really big difference with the Pixel that impressed me at first glance once I started studying how it works. The striped down, no two party competing apps and competing storage. Its smooth buttery access to content was all their right at my fingertips.
For my pixel 2 xl, white looks as pink and by changing the viewing angle, it becomes blue. I cannot believe that LG did the screen when I compare it with my previous G3. :( Anyone else?
Got the pixel 2 and the camera is simply phenomenal to the point where i think I might sell my mirrorless camera and lenses. I only used my dedicated camera for portraits anyway but I think the pixel 2 is good enough for that purpose.
Watching on a pixel 2 xl, Ive had the phone for a week and my sister and my dad are also using the pixel 2 xl. Literally 3 pixel 2 xls in the family and there have been no issues whatsoever in any of them so far. I thought I was having battery issues at first because people were boasting about the battery life, yet I initially struggled to get 4 hours of sot. I was paranoid for a couple days testing the battery, then my friend was like, why dont you just enjoy the phone? I turned off the battery indicator and used it normally for a couple of days, looking at the battery stats at the end of each day. I then got about 6 hours sot with everything on (bluetooth, wifi, data, auto brightness....). So I can now say that this phone is awesome! The fact that i paid $250 for this phone because of a family corporate plan makes it even more worth it. I can understand the problems people are pointing out for this $1k+ phone and they are definitely correct for making such accusations. HOWEVER, i noticed the blue tint straight out of the box, it did bother me for maybe a day and then i just forgot about it. The screen issues are blown way out of the water, especially the blue tint, which, in my opinion, is a first world problem. We are so spoiled with these phones that we nit pick at every little thing that some people might not even care about. Only the tech enthusiasts will care about these issues. Personally, I don't buy the latest phone every year, this has been my third phone (1st was crapsung s2, then the one plus one, and now the pixel). Finally, i would say that this phone is a pretty good choice, but at this $1k+ price tag, you'd just be better off buying the pixel 2 (non xl) because its cheaper, and although the screen and battery are not as big as the xl, you can still experience stock android. Unless you get this phone in a promotion, or you have a little extra cash on you, I wouldn't recommend this phone at its current price range. If you really wanted stock android and a bigger size, go with the OG first gen pixel xl. Well, all this is coming from someone who got the phone way cheaper (although I am locked in a contract for 2 years) than its current price, but I think its a pretty good phone if you got the money, especially in the camera department.
I’m going to have to disagree with Jon about the screen. The newly added saturated mode does indeed make the screen look better but it also adds a really strong tint of red to the screen. The screen is the one thing everyone interests with in their smartphone and the XL screen is just simply inferior to Samsung’s.
I shouldn't let the display, the main thing in a smartphone, stop me from buying it? If I have to look at it for a few years of my life several hours a day it's better gonna be perfect.
Completely agree. I would have gone with the 2XL if the screen wasn't so average (instead I went with the iphone X). I remember in one of MKBHD's videos about the Pixel 2, he describes how the washed out screen (probably before updates though) made him over-saturate pictures he edited, and when he viewed his edited pics on another device it was completely over saturated. Just very disappointing that Google got something so fundamental in the phone so wrong.
Corsair Maverick well Jon forgot to say that with 8.1 update, Google addressed the burn in issue. Especially since it fades the button navigation buttons and top notification bar after like 15 seconds.
I LOVE THIS PHONE!! I've been an Samsung guy since day 1 but I switched to the pixel 2xl recently and iam never going to be getting another iPhone, Samsung, or anything ever again. This phone is super smooth and fits my life style so perfectly. Google assistant is amazing iam constantly surprised by the fact I don't even need to use my hands to operate the phone. And the more you talk to her the more she learns and that's even more crazy awesome. Thanks for the update video
I think the normal Pixel 2 has been unfairly overlooked because of the more traditional design. That's really sad, because you get the very best or the 2 XL (software, camera, speakers) for a whole $200 less, plus a better quality display (I've compared side by side, the screen on my 2 is definitely better than that on the 2 XL)
buddhamic13 How exactly does that work? I have one and it's great, the only thing that bugs me is reds are so washed out so I have to keep it on saturated the whole time, but that makes it a little too saturated for my tastes.
I agree that you do forget about it. But just the fact that its a thing is sooooo annoying. And you can see its noticeable in Daydream. The XL is a far, far superior phone compared to the smaller pixel 2, but it hurts that the screen is grainy. I fixed up my 6p and am going to ride out this phone until the pixel 3 launches. Or if the 2 xl drops below 700 I may consider it again.
Lol they didn't pay him to say those things but they definitely pay him lol Actually he pays Google too about 30%-45% of what's earned from this vid is Google's.
I think 2017 will mark the year of "you will get used to it" when in relationship to flagship phones. It doesn't seem to matter which device you pick they all have pretty lame flaws, screen issues, design guffs, poor OS, devices completely failing etc. etc.. It's strange though that none of the reviewers devices ever seem to exhibit any of these flaws until it's mentioned on a forum. i.e not one reviewer mentioned blue shift until consumers starting complaining about it ?? how strange. Now it has to be mentioned, guess what ? "you will get used it to it" or "it's not that bad" you can substitute blue shift for any other flaw a device may have and the result will be the same.
Seriously, Don't let the display hold you, u kidding me. Display is where one spends all the time on their phones and Google wants you to pay a flagship price with this screen no thanks mate
Sandeep Singh my thoughts exactly dude...the four pillar foundations of a great phone to my opinion is, software stability, form, camera and display...and more importantly it’s has to be display and software...
U do know about the burn in issue don't you..the color saturation the only thing great about pixel series is the camera nothing else and im on a s8 myself n been an user of pixel in the past. The thing is i get more bang for my bucks in s8. It has wireless charging a better ip rating a better display and the headphone jack. Pixel series is way too hyped and overpriced in my opinion though its my personal and i don't have any problem with you for liking pixel. I just wished that instead of trying to fight iPhone , Google really puts more effort in their hardware game they can make a better phone then what they have been offering for last two years
I had go return mine. The screen on a white background looked like sand paper, once I saw that I kept seeing it even if the screen was displaying different colors.
Clice same here dude...I couldn’t accept the fact I’m paying close 920 in total in which two devices, one my original and the second RMA had the same screen grain and even poor refresh rate...I get it if the device was 500-600 cause you know what your expecting as a midrange tier. But for extra 70 to 100 you can get a note 8 or iPhone X that justifies the cost for the screen and features
I bought the Pixel 2 XL at the beginning of December and am very happy with it. Long batter life, best camera on the market, and lightning fast. Also, love the front facing speakers.
I've always been a Samsung user, so I'm use to TouchWiz/Samsung Experience, what's so much better about stock Android besides it being smoother/snappier? Samsung's UI has always had more features and gimmicks that ended up being implemented to stock Android, (split screen/multitasking, PiP, etc..) Also I like the look of Samsung's UI vs the Pixel, idk if I'm just use to it, but it just looks plain.
Lester Dimaoala, nothing really other than latest updates which keep it smoother and snappier. It's all in preference really, beauty with awesome themes or speed with latest updates. I just prefer smoother/snappier
I upgraded to a Pixel 2 XL from a Nexus 6P and the difference is astounding. There are so many little things on the XL that makes it an awesome experience.
Screen is garbage, especially at lower brightness. It has the same problem as the V30 with a graininess when you go below 50% brightness which a lot of people do for battery consumption. It's objectively an inferior screen to the best AMOLED and LCD panels. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't sell the the XL2 for 800+ but they do. It's an inexcusable flaw.
Agree. I was tossing up between this and the iphone X, and despite the flaws of the iphone (cropped videos, the notch, some inconsistent/un-intuitive gestures), the screen is MUCH better. Trying both out in store before making my decision, the Pixel's screen looked washed out compared to the iphone's, which looked like a bright, punchy sticker right on the glass.
John I've been a Technobuffalo fan since day one. My question is why is the website riddled with Ads that hamper the viewing experience. The way the ads overtake everything are pretty intrusive and there has to be a more subtle way of displaying ads. like other tech sites. Please choose a different engine for your ads.
I wanted the Pixel 2XL to be my first Android phone but went with something else due to the screen. It might have been overblown, but when I heard that some people replaced the phone up to 4 times for burn ins and blue shifts, I had to look elsewhere. Looking forward for the next Pixel!
I made exactly the same switch and in my opinion it was 100% worth it. Everything I love about Google is all packed into this phone. I actually love the industrial design and look to the phone but the biggest driver for me is the first to receive software updates and the camera is flawless. Can't see me moving away from pixel from this point out.
Dude, how much did Google pay you for this glowing review? The display is the most important components. I have never seen a Samsung display have a blue tint from any angle. I haven't had a Samsung display exhibit burn in. Further, Google has the audacity to charge over $800 for an $500 LG phone. HTC and LG have been chasing Samsung for a long time and always will be behind. Google should have stayed with Huawei.
Dude ... if you have never seen any blue tinge on S8,N8 devices then probably you have never seen one up close. Go to your nearest store and check once the glorious blue tinge coming on Note 8 on white background. Blue tinge is a characteristic of OLED displays and even IpX has that, though much less. In that case OP 5T has one of the best displays. In reality you will hardly be bothered with this blue tinge on any phone when you have a multicoloured background. In fact Pixel 2 XL after shifting its colour profile to more saturated ones than sRGB through recent updates looks quite as vibrant as Note 8 though still a little less and has definitely reduced the blue tinge effect. In real life scenario the colour profile is just as good to the eyes after recent updates though still N8 and IpX has slightly better looking display. Display and overall looks is the only downside of Pixel 2 XL but that is where it ends, beyond this it is simply the best in every comparable department - camera, OS smoothness, battery life, external speaker, cloud storage and most importantly the exclusive future proof pure android experience with all its gimmicks like AI algorithms in Google Camera, Google Photos. Android is now on per with smoothness and resource utilization as iOS, for example with Oreo now I am seeing remarkable improvement in battery life with resource intensive apps like Google Maps, in use. You are saying Pixel 2 Xl is a $500 LG phone, well there is nothing to comment as no one will take this joke seriously, but if by any chance you are serious just go through the differences between LG V30+ and Pixel 2 XL and you will get your doubts clarified. #Peace
its not average ... you will only notice the difference if u are given the job to pick the best display along with IpX and Note 8 side by side as then you would be comparing the minute differences in colour profiles and colour accuracy which otherwise you wont even notice if they are not side by side.
Pramit Rana nah man I use my phone flat on an desk quit often instead of lifting it. I tested this in the store and the screen is blue. That’s is garbage the screen is average at best.
Mike Zebrowski Hmm... but many of the earlier shipped models have come with defective blue screen ... if you look at any model that was shipped after Dec have much less issue and they have also been minimized through software updates by making changes in colour profile ..... so now its quite better than with what it had launched, though stills lacks slighly less punch than the best displays but noticibly different than the earlier models .... you will find some reviewers claiming to have noticed that .... finally Pixel 2 screens is much better than the XL since it is amoled and made by Samsung
Pramit Rana maybe you are right but at this point they lost a sale. The pixel 2 does have a better screen but common that phone doesn’t look appealing at all.
Stinky the Chimp the user experience starts from the damn screen. Like I said earlier I use my phone flat on a desk at work all the time so it at an angle. If I can’t view the screen because it’s blue then the user experience is shit before I even get to the OS.
I switched from an iPhone to the Pixel 2 XL and I have ZERO regrets. The cameras are insanely good. The pictures I took at Christmas that I shared were phenomenal. I had people asking me what kind of camera I was using and that they looked professional. The UI is super smooth and the battery is amazing. I was only getting about 3/4 of a day out of my iPhone and I'm getting at least a day and a half from the Pixel. I don't notice the "blue tint" because I look at my phone like a normal human and not from some strange angle. The display is great. I watched Planet Earth on Netflix today and the color reproduction was unreal. I would highly recommend this phone. I'll never go back to the Apple world again. Kudos Google.
after leaving the mall went to another Verizon store near by....they had the Pixel 2 XL....while I was there heard the store employees tell more than one person the phone battery life was poor while the iPhone 7plus much better! I asked how long the promo was....reply was could end any time. Kinda funny the TV commercial says DEC 31? Are the Verizon store employees that clueless or that dishonest?
I bought the pixel 2 xl the day it came out and was really looking forward to it as my original pixel was so good . After paying a lot off money I hated it , for what I paid it felt just not right ,I had Wi-Fi problems apps crashing , battery was amazing, anyway I sent it back and went with the op5 for half the money and that has been great so far
I was on the verge of upgrading my phone yesterday to the pixel 2 but saw that more of like an incremental update from the original pixel. So I thought i'll hold off till the pixel 3. But I do appreciate the slicker design, waterproofing and stereo speakers. And i am pretty sure my next phone will be bigger than 5 inches.
The 5t is great but for long term use I'm definitely taking the pixel 2. The software is a lot better and will last longer than the OnePlus. The 5t might not even see Android Q while the pixel 2 has guaranteed updates for 3 years.
Kage DC do you think so, I've got the oneplus 5t so I might be biased but I think the 5t will last me a few years even if it isn't updated to the latest android version
just at a Verizon store last night Uniontown,PA mall...they didnt even have a Pixel 2 XL on display or in stock to see. The girl said the camera wasnt that good and the screen was identical to the smaller Pixel 2....at that point realized she was pretty n clueless!
I returned mine after 2 weeks because my navigation bar and some apps were burnt into the screen. And the burn in was so bad that they it was visible on the screen no matter what I was doing.
I have the Pixel 2xl and I'm telling you the screen looks really good. And I'm also tired of people saying how expensive this phone is, cause Verizon is giving 300 off the price which puts it down around 550.00. I also read today that Samjunk is having more problems with their batteries that if you run them down to 0 the phones are not turning back on, maybe Google will start making batteries for the Samsung phones...lol
I switched from an iPhone 7 (having had iPhones since 4S) to the regular Pixel 2 and, on the whole, I'm loving it. Android has come on leaps and bounds and there are a lot of very innovative features in the OS that iOS could benefit from, particularly with regards notifications and settings layout. It's smooth, quick and has that iPhone-like fluidity. The screen, out of the box, was disappointing but the new update nails it - I don't use 'Saturated', I find it too artificial, so I stick to 'Boosted' which is perfect. I can only agree with the comments on the cameras - that was my main reason for buying and I haven't been disappointed. They shame the cameras on a friend's iPhone X. On the whole, great stuff - would just love to see a slightly more modern design for Pixel 3.
I am loving my Pixel 2 XL. I was a bit hesitant to purchase it early on due to the reports about its display, but in the end I'm glad I didn't let that deter me. I've had zero issues with the display. To the contrary, it's gorgeous! The camera is amazing. And the phone has buttery-smooth performance.
His hair has a notch :)
YES!

Damn I wasn't gonna say it but damn ya bad people

Funny
I absolutely love the phone. The color shift has had zero effect on my day to day life. The Saturated color option gives me the look of my Nexus 6P. The front facing speakers are awesome, the phone is buttery smooth, and the battery life is INSANE.
A two and a half hour drive home with Google maps and Spotify running simultaneously only drained about 15% battery. It's incredible.
the battery life is amazing. with moderate use I have gotten 2 days out of it. with my normal heavy use, including google maps and google play at the same time I still get home at the end of the day at about 40%... it is almost frustrating cuz I always use my phone as my clock but I am often loathe to plug it in all night when there is still like 50 or 60% left at the end of the night. now I use an old tablet as my clock. lol
Yeah, I agree with all your comments. I got home today from work and had 84% battery life. That's crazy!
did you guys factory reset after installing 8.1? my battery life has been pretty mediocre after the update
gcforreal I didn't.
For how much?
Ain't worth the launch price. with Black Friday pricing maybe.
What makes it not worth it?? Me being a Pixel2 user I think it is more then worth it and it. Having software that is usable always helps as opposed to the extras that will bog the phone down after a while with notable updates.
Lord of the Jungle I completely agree with you
I swear if people say that IP67 is a con one more time...
It's the same thing as IP68, just not as much depth in water.
Dorian Metzler ..then it's not the same? :)
Lol, got me. *Almost* the same thing, I mean.
Yeah, IP67 is just Water resistance at the same level, just for less depth/time. But for most users for people, they likely won't have their phone drop to the max depth of IP68 unless if your job involves it, then you would likely get an S8 Active or a case to add water resistance
Next time I review a phone I’ll have to mention it. Hah.
Well given the samsung is ip68 with a headphone jack...it is silly how this isn't as high as that with supposedly the advantage of having no headphone jack
Had this phone for about a week and it is nothing short of spectacular!
Anderson Pierre True, especially the battery back up camera and it's better smooth performance

I love my pixel 2 xl so much. I literally have no complaints. Battery is awesome, os is so smooth and clean, camera is breathtaking and the screen is great! After the update the screen rocks and I love the aspect ratio of it. Please get the pixel 2 xl if you're in the market for Android
Daniel Flores great decision🐼
I'm getting the phone in like 4-8 days and I'm so excited!
Sebby can you get me one to?
Randy M I was gonna get one until I saw your spelling of too.
Why did you switch from s8 plus since it is not that old ? Is the performance much better and smoother ?
Adam Benko: I am a recovering Nexus user. My last Nexus was the 6 from Moto. I miss the pure Android experience. Don't get me wrong, the S8s are great phones and I liked mine. It's mostly personal preference. I just like the extra software features of the Pixel more than those in the S8s. I gave my S8+ to my son and he loves it.
If one has s8 they probably shouldnt switch that early, unless thats the type of person he or she is.
He loves the IPhone X so much hes copied the notch
Nah Apple copied him!
*You love that comment so much, you've copied Kavin Raj's comment.*
That's hilarious.

Wendi martin no one cares about that cheap ass pixel phone with theyre cheap ass screens lol
Wendi martin google cant sell 50million phones like apple & samsung can.....proof no one cares about that cheap ass pixel phone with theyre cheap ass screens lol 😊😂😂😂💀
Capperboy 600 too bad you don't know the difference between Their, There and They're. Go back to school you bloody stupid moron.
Ray Stussy who cares how i spell it google still makes some cheap ass phones with theyre cheap ass blue tint screens lol
Ray Stussy no one cares about that cheap ass pixel phone with theyre cheap ass blue tint screens lol
Great Battery life
Great speakers
Amazingly Great camera
Good screen
Great build
Pure stock Android
Buttery smooth experience
3 years of support/updates
Water and dust resistant
Unlimited photo storage
The only con (that may not be a con for everyone) is no headphone jack. Still love this phone and have no regrets buying it!
Michael D seriously i love the phone but they would have included the headphone jack...i m still thinking why they copied iPhone...
Am I the only person who's getting below par battery life on my pixel 2XL I get around 4 hours of screen on time can I ask if that's normal
Omar Patel yeah that's weird. I get at least 5 and half hours easy. I use RUclips a lot along with music streams, phone calls and text and I'll end the day at about 20%. I don't have hog apps like Facebook running at any point so check that out in the battery statistics
My one regret was not getting this phone and getting an iPhone X...I miss Android so much
Craig Nelson can I have your X ?
Hahahahaha joke
BionicVegaFusion TechGaming sure if you got the iPhone X money I paid for it lol 😥
Hope ios12 gets a big overhaul for you bud. Notifications are so damn bad! Lol
??????
Craig Nelson you can always sell it.
Pixel 2 gets 3 years of software support Google. That alone should make people want to get this phone even by the end of next year since it will still have 2 years left of support by then. Future proof.
Mel Salas not really future proof being only 2 years, I would 5 years is a good amount of time especially for higher end phones that can easily keep up, even phones with the snapdragon 800 and above can still run the latest android when optimised properly, developers are just lazy and manufacturers are just greedy bringing nothing really new or exciting each year
Future proof is 5 years doh!.
I had the pixel the 5 inch now I switch to the pixel 2 XL, and I have no issues of blue tint or nothing its a great phone love the pixel line of phones. the camera is better than the last one and I thought it was impossible . great pictures every time, multitasking is great, highly recommended,
ovi kohen Did you find the pixel 2 too small?
Anthony Turner I had the pixel 1 . now I have the pixel 2 xl.
ovi kohen you didn't pay attention to my question..... was the pixel 2 too small ?
Anthony Turner For me, the screen size is great (non-xl). I would have liked to have smaller bezels, but the form factor is great
if you are done with your previous Pixel phone, and not using it anymore, please send it my way.
I have the pixel 2 xl and I love it
Been at basic training since August. Can't wait to get back home to get the phone!! Time to put down my Lg G4
Thank you for your service.
TechnoBuffalo Thanks for your support!
Yes, thank you for your service.
PC Principal basic training for the Army ive graduated and go home in a few weeks
Did your LGG4 survive the boot-loop plague?
I'm using the original pixel and it's perfect!
Dyllan Zap who let grandpa on youtube again?
Very mature. Did you ask your mom if you can use RUclips?
Dyllan Zap I am too but I'm in love with the 2 so I'm hopefully going to get it
Idk, did you ask your mom if you could post videos of your kids doing random shit no one wants to see?
Engei if i were you i would wait for the 3. thats what im doing my Og pixel xl is just fine
Time to change 6P to Pixel 2xl😃Maybe in near future.
Michał Smyk pixel 2,and pixel 2 xl is Crap
stooge drakness why?
Michał Smyk if ur rocking the 6p its about time to upgrade bro !
Michał Smyk that's what I did, and it was definitely worth it.
I see you have that...
iPhone 10 haircut 😂
Meme Gamer lmao 😂😂
😂😂😂
*the poor screen resolution and lack of a stylus are my reasons for not even looking twice at the pixel, the endless need for the stylus for signing online and email documents is the reason i went with the phone i have now which i shouldn't even need to mention at this point*
Wallpaper?
I think the screen thing was blown out of proportion. I just received my xl and it's great because I never vide my screen. At such odd angles no matter how hard I try.
Hate to be that guy but does anyone have a link to that wallpaper? Looks nice!
Flamed65 I know, I know, awful, right?
It's on the Google wallpapers app.
Now, my photos get saved directly to Google Photos so it's just stupid nice to have it as my default photo storage solution and never have to worry about running out of space.
someone link that wallpaper from the video.. thanks
Can u link us to that wallpaper John?
Anybody know where i can get a link to this wallpaper?
i.redd.it/yfstvwe0dacz.jpg
I went through 3 2xl's because of dead pixels and pink /green hued screens. Never bothered by the blue tint. Went back to my small pixel 2 as that is flawless besides terrible black/dark crushing.
Bought it Pixel 2 XL and never regretted it. Also own Note 8.
The Gagdet Guy! 2k on phones nicee
Anthony Turner note 8
Lol can you buy me one...would love to atleast own a flagship.
Mohammad M.E. lol
The Gagdet Guy! So if you had to choose, what would be your preferred option?
got the Pixel 2 XL. This phone is fantastic, the camera is one of a kind super clean, I find myself taking pictures of anything!
#justsaying
Was there not a huge issue with burn in?
the bezels on the smaller one is unacceptable
Kinda agree.
Why does everyone hate bazels all of a sudden? sounds like the new thinness wars. Give me stereo speakers over 'edge-2-edge' any day.
jedikv I think bezzeless designs feel wierd and honestly I would prefer a bezel and no wonky rolled off curvy edge on my screen.
Always appreciate these revisited videos!
here's my problem with pixel 2XL, for the price I'm paying I SHOULD not have to compromise on anything, no wireless charging, no IP68, not the greatest screen, come on.
$550 for the XL is worth it
What's wrong with IP67?.... It's basically the same as IP68 but shorter.
Partho Paul then go buy a note8
Nah fuck Verizon their service is overpriced plus they lobbied to end net neutrality
If you're gonna do things like remove the headphone jack then at least match the IP rating of a samsung phone which has one.
Had the 2xl. Thing crashed 12 times the first night. Screen was not up to par. Screen also had a hollow feel and sound to it. May had been my unit but I suspect all the problems are there on many. Got mine from Verizon - sent it back.
Wasn't available through AT&T so I got the V30 instead.
Matthew Davisson eh the V30 is basically a pixel 2 XL without front firing speakers and skinned Android I've been loving this thing so far
What's up with the #iphone10 haircut?,
LOL
Actually he had it before Apple’s iPhone X notch.
1) Camera
2) Storage
3) Price
One last point. Its smooth buttery access to content was all their right at my fingertips.
i want one!! should i get it??
not really a touch wizzz guy!!! and there is something about the pixel 2 xl!
yaa but software updates?? pixel 2 has android support for the next 3 years
yup definatly or you can get the note 8 or wait to see the samsung s9 cause the s9 is gonna be revolutionary i think
yaa something about that phone!!! i think its the camera!!
something about that google camera!!!
hows the audio during video recording? is it still crappy?
Note 8 with Pixel Camera....!
Would have been Great..
...and with its fingerprint sensor...and without the Bixby button....and with regular software updates
Holy crap it's that good?! ʕ •ᴥ• ʔ
What wallpaper and date/weather bar is he using at 1:24? These good looking Pixel exclusives, if that's what it is, are driving me nuts.
giff74 Pixel stock. I have it on my original Pixel.
Which widget has that date/weather bar?
That wallpaper though 😍
Curious....what was the image on the Pixel 2 xl??? Thanks in advance
Note 8 is the smartphone of year 2017
Watching on a pixel 2 xl, Ive had the phone for a week and my sister and my dad are also using the pixel 2 xl.
I prefer the boosted or natural mode. The saturated mode is overkill.
Not on my pixel 2 XL
John Smith stop lol. The display looks just like Galaxy. I have the pixel and my girl has a galaxy. Displays look the exact same color wise
Watching on my iPhone X
agreed. btw, he's doing this for $$$ from his sponsor and probably Google! it's all do do. this is another review/AD
What's the phone wallpaper?
I shouldn't let the display, the main thing in a smartphone, stop me from buying it? If I have to look at it for a few years of my life several hours a day it's better gonna be perfect.
You're right, but the camera, the software and the performance all have their final output in the screen.
Smanny Manny you can't fix a shitty display with a software update. Look at the pictures on the blog "saggiamente[dot]com"
Corsair Maverick it's not a "shitty display" lol, damn some of these people
I LOVE THIS PHONE!!
*Watching this to make me feel good about my purchase of the xl 2*
Yashas Redd me too
Same 😭 it was so expensive
Toni Lynae lmao, i got a $350 discount for mine
Dude tell me do you still have the phone? If so do you regret buying it? Cause I'm looking to buy a pixel 2xl.
Where can I get that blue XL wallpaper.? Is it already included?
Need that Wallpaper
i.redd.it/yfstvwe0dacz.jpg
Ben Zvikler Thanks :)
I have apple and I’m trading it in for the pixelXL
nobody cares
You should do another video on the essential phone and see if the updates made it better than at launch.
Ashish Patel Not to mention that new price as of late is tempting and competitive.
Got the pixel 2 XL and love it. With rooting I'm able to make the screen look how I want. Software is just too good, can't give that up.
Your root can never get rid of the grainy screen sadly. Youve probably chosen to ignore it by now. But I didnt think it was worth the cost.
buddhamic13 How exactly does that work? I have one and it's great, the only thing that bugs me is reds are so washed out so I have to keep it on saturated the whole time, but that makes it a little too saturated for my tastes.
Sean R For me it doesn't bother me much. Yes, it's grainy, but in day to day usage I honestly just forget about it.
Sean R what's this grainy screen I hear about? Not an issue on my device.
Would you recommend buying the xl2 now? Or wait until after summer when the 3 is inevitably announced?
Google definitely paid you to say all these things.
Have had it 2 months, the screen is great
TheAppleAndroidGuy great
U do know about the burn in issue don't you..the color saturation the only thing great about pixel series is the camera nothing else and im on a s8 myself n been an user of pixel in the past. The thing is i get more bang for my bucks in s8. It has wireless charging a better ip rating a better display and the headphone jack. Pixel series is way too hyped and overpriced in my opinion though its my personal and i don't have any problem with you for liking pixel. I just wished that instead of trying to fight iPhone , Google really puts more effort in their hardware game they can make a better phone then what they have been offering for last two years
J. Canals and no my s8 doesn't have any blue tilt issue in it for the record
Wallpaper link plz
I bought the Pixel 2 XL at the beginning of December and am very happy with it. Long batter life, best camera on the market, and lightning fast. Also, love the front facing speakers.
Considering getting rid of my Note 8 for this phone for stock Android alone.
I did, and trust me, you won't regret it. You'll definitely miss the screen but other than that the Pixel 2 XL is just better.
I've always been a Samsung user, so I'm use to TouchWiz/Samsung Experience, what's so much better about stock Android besides it being smoother/snappier?
Samsung's UI has always had more features and gimmicks that ended up being implemented to stock Android, (split screen/multitasking, PiP, etc..)
Also I like the look of Samsung's UI vs the Pixel, idk if I'm just use to it, but it just looks plain.
Lester Dimaoala, nothing really other than latest updates which keep it smoother and snappier. It's all in preference really, beauty with awesome themes or speed with latest updates.
I just prefer smoother/snappier
You look like Joseph Parker
Lester Dimaoala you can never use a skin again after using stock Android. Trust me. I ditched my S8 for my the Pixel line. Night and day.
It's an inexcusable flaw.
agreed. I had one for a day and sent it back. whats the point of having a great camera when photos are terrible looking on the device?
Agree. I was tossing up between this and the iphone X, and despite the flaws of the iphone (cropped videos, the notch, some inconsistent/un-intuitive gestures), the screen is MUCH better. Trying both out in store before making my decision, the Pixel's screen looked washed out compared to the iphone's, which looked like a bright, punchy sticker right on the glass.
the xl is lg display. the strandard pixel 2 is samsung display
John I've been a Technobuffalo fan since day one. My question is why is the website riddled with Ads that hamper the viewing experience. The way the ads overtake everything are pretty intrusive and there has to be a more subtle way of displaying ads. like other tech sites. Please choose a different engine for your ads.
Good ole 360p
1440
bens thanks for the update. Couldn’t do it at 360p
480p gang
I wanted the Pixel 2XL to be my first Android phone but went with something else due to the screen. It might have been overblown, but when I heard that some people replaced the phone up to 4 times for burn ins and blue shifts, I had to look elsewhere. Looking forward for the next Pixel!
Switched from note 8 to this and loving it camera is just awesome
How are you finding the switch? Is the Pixel 2 xl better?
That sort of upgrade is so minimal it's honestly not even worth it.
You basically downgraded everything but camera and maybe software or battery life. I like stock android but Samsung experience is not that bad tbh
Apple User it's still not a smart switch, just a waste of money if you didn't sell the note
Hi Jon, is the pixel 2 smooth to operate? When scrolling? Like an iPhone?
Dude, how much did Google pay you for this glowing review? The display is the most important components. I have never seen a Samsung display have a blue tint from any angle. I haven't had a Samsung display exhibit burn in. Further, Google has the audacity to charge over $800 for an $500 LG phone. HTC and LG have been chasing Samsung for a long time and always will be behind. Google should have stayed with Huawei.
All the reviewers are shills, if they told the truth about the devices none of us would buy them. They are here is sell products , not review them.
Dude ... if you have never seen any blue tinge on S8,N8 devices then probably you have never seen one up close. #Peace
Love the videos! Weren't you going to do an essential phone review redo?
What I really don’t understand is how can You say the camera is amazing when the screen ur viewing the images on is average.
its not average ... you will only notice the difference if u are given the job to pick the best display along with IpX and Note 8 side by side as then you would be comparing the minute differences in colour profiles and colour accuracy which otherwise you wont even notice if they are not side by side.
This is the most underrated phone. Only tech guys really appreciate it. Sadly only apple and Samsung are known by most people.
after leaving the mall went to another Verizon store near by....they had the Pixel 2 XL....while I was there heard the store employees tell more than one person the phone battery life was poor while the iPhone 7plus much better! I asked how long the promo was....reply was could end any time. Kinda funny the TV commercial says DEC 31? Are the Verizon store employees that clueless or that dishonest?
Can't believe you try to tell me this shit screen is not that bad?!
Yeah, it's not bad at all. Minimal colour shift now after a month, and saturated colours look great. Don't see the issue.
Samsung s9 is on the way
Love the Pixel 2 XL. Switched from a Samsung Galaxy S8+. #teampixel
The screen is made by LG jon,Not Samsung.
Zach Cline XL is made by LG. Smaller is made by Samsung
Pixel 2 is ugly
Stinky the chimp Both the pixels are shit bud... Note 8 is the way to go...
EvilPlaya I'm starting to get tired of Samsung. I wouldn't say the pixels are shit
Pixel 2 is ugly and Pixel 2XL is crap... Why would you even consider buying a phone that has so many hardware problems?
What happened to all the secondary people who used to be in the videos? Like the ripped jeans dude or Mark burnstiner
No one.cares about that cheap ass pixel phone lol
Capperboy 600, bitter much?
+Matthew Davisson no one cares about that cheap ass pixel phone lol
You cared enough to comment and dhare your useless opinion.
+Ray Stussy no one cares about that cheap ass pixel phone with they're cheap ass blue tint screens 😂😂😂💀
Great video. Also, anyway to get that nice wallpaper (or where to get it from)?
Lg sucks
I was on the verge of upgrading my phone yesterday to the pixel 2 but saw that more of like an incremental update from the original pixel. So I thought i'll hold off till the pixel 3. But I do appreciate the slicker design, waterproofing and stereo speakers. And i am pretty sure my next phone will be bigger than 5 inches.
Oneplus 5t is much more worth it and really similar
Yahya Dalal the OnePlus 5t is better value but the cameras on the pixel 2 and 2xl are above everything else
mikeyl114 yeah, the camera on the pixel is beastly and no even comparable however camera isn't everything 😀😀
Oneplus 5t unfortunately lacks Daydream support. And not having Oreo yet kinda sucks.
just at a Verizon store last night Uniontown,PA mall...they didnt even have a Pixel 2 XL on display or in stock to see. The girl said the camera wasnt that good and the screen was identical to the smaller Pixel 2....at that point realized she was pretty n clueless!
iPhone X speakers shit all over the pixel 2 XLs. More bass, louder, fuller sound. And yes, I had both phones to compare side by side.
emk704 really? Everyone credits the pixel speakers so much I was led to believe they were better
Fuck The iPhone x and The pixel i got the note 8 and my girl got the x bro the note 8 SHITS!!!!!! on every fucken phone you put on the table 🖕
Fuck the speaker it's 2017 almost 2018 we walking around with Bluetooth speakers 😎 UE if you ask me
Louder my ass. 2 XL's volume is crazy on mine. Anything above half and it's too loud for me or anyone else.
emk704 battery life is shitty tho
I returned mine after 2 weeks because my navigation bar and some apps were burnt into the screen. And the burn in was so bad that they it was visible on the screen no matter what I was doing.
Nah still horrible. Overpriced. Poor quality 2013 like display. Only good aspect is it's camera
Mick Harrison screen is fine ....move on
Reuben Skelly already have. Would never fork out $1400 Australian for a subpar screen
Trolls will be trolls
I have the Pixel 2xl and I'm telling you the screen looks really good. And I'm also tired of people saying how expensive this phone is, cause Verizon is giving 300 off the price which puts it down around 550.00. I also read today that Samjunk is having more problems with their batteries that if you run them down to 0 the phones are not turning back on, maybe Google will start making batteries for the Samsung phones...lol
Didn't HTC produce the display for the smaller pixel 2?
