Android Authority I personally have the Pixel 2 XL 64GB variant, and have experienced none of the issues such as burn in, high pitched noises, or even the blurr unless brightness is completely dim. I am a fellow tech enthusiast and though I'm not brave enough for RUclips videos, I have purchased and and tried out the Note 8, OP5T, and Essential phone in the past few weeks but found my heart at home with the P2XL. The color shift doesn't bother me at all and when held up next to my wife's Note 8 screen, the P2XLs display is very competitive with certain games and viewing scenarios. Above all the buttery smoothness, FF speakers, and superb camera have been a complete package for me. I feel as though the P2XL has set a new standard for smartphones in my book considering this only 2nd Gen and so much has been done right. P2XL has even managed to win me over from my long time daily driver Samsung, but only time will tell if the phone ages well. My wife was very happy to hear that I would be holding on to a phone for more than a few months and I look forward to what Google and its Pixel line come out with in the future.
Exactly.. people just keep making fuss about the small, completely irrelevant and some cases non existent issues just because this phone excels in every department.. they just have to bring this issues so as to give note 8 and iPhone a upper hand in majority of the public
Rajesh Das false. I got the pixel 2 XL at launch and I immediately noticed how bad the screen was. I don't care about the note 8 or the iPhone. I returned it and got the small one.
I have this phone and have not had any of these problems yet......I bought the phone knowing it might have problems and do not regret it at all ... Best phone of 2017 in my eyes
Issues are always exaggerated however the reboot issue does happen with my buddies phone. I feel this issue would only be seen by people that live in rural markets where coverage is always weak. It’s kinda a shame/annoying since will be in the middle of a video call and out of nowhere his phone restarts. We never knew why till seeing this video. I honestly believe though that the note 8 is the best phone of the year if it just had better updates
I have had the Pixel 2xl for about 2 months now and I haven't had any burn in issues. I have the Storm trooper edition and run on saturated mode. The screen is awesome and I think the complaints are ridiculously exaggerated.
Red Hood and others might say "for $900 you should have perfectly buttery smooth software like the Pixel 2 XL, or consistent monthly security updates, or reliable software updates each year, the Note 8 is a joke"...just saying a perfect screen isn't the only decision making aspect of most people's purchase.
Yeah, burn-ins only happened to few devices at the beginning, and a lot of people won't even notice burn-in that easily anyway. Google used software improvement to reduce the chances of burn-ins so i don't think it will happen to any more devices. I won't blame people who reported the issues they are facing though, i mean you expect the best from a device you paid a premium price for and secondly, it's Google we re talking about, they have good reputation and even smaller issues may annoy people. I make tech based contents. If you are free kindly do give my channel a look. i will really appreciate it and a Happy New Year to you :)
Not fast enough. They have people like me and a notable amount of top reviewers locked in with day-day performance, battery life and the camera. Despite all the hate they gave it, most Android reviewers use it as their daily driver. They need to disassociate software/security updates with hardware related/bug fixes.
I have the Pixel 2 XL and I sell them all the time. Not a single person has complained about any of these issues. I haven't had any of these issues except for the blue hue and it's not even close to how bad everyone makes it out to be.
Leo Flores I work at Target Tech. Found inside your local Target. It's going to be the same price as Google & Verizon have them except for the promotions we run can be slightly different than theirs.
Have the Pixel 2 XL. No burn ins. Slight blue tint (doesn't bother me). I am fine with the color balance. Saturated looks ridiculous. Black smear occurs sometimes. No random frequency noises. Been using it for 2 months now.
I had the G6. Other than the terrible battery life I really liked it. It was really underrated. I traded it in for the V30+ but I will buy another G6 one day and use it as a backup.
Blue shift isn't an "issue", it's a characteristic of the OLED panel, even samsung phones have it, I had a galaxy S3 that had it, the S8 is known to have it, you just see it more on the pixel because they decided to dull the colors and the media decided to be picky about it
I have had the pixel 2 XL for about a month now. I have had ZERO issues with it. That being said I got the phone after most of the major patches. I went from the LG G4, to the pixel 2XL and I am in awe. Love it. Happy new year!
I think it has to do with the first units off the production line. People often recommend waiting a month before buying a product so they can work out all the kinks.
Pixel 2 XL user here, I've definitely noticed the burn in on my phones screen, however since they released an update to prevent this I don't believe it's gotten any worse. If you buy a pixel 2 XL be sure to download all available software updates for the best experience.
kelvin cruzada I totally agree but atleast Google have done something to rectify the issue. I'll certainly be making use of the 2 year warranty if anything gets worse on the phone, but so far I'm really happy with it.
I have the Pixel 2 XL for over a month now and have not had any of those issues. LOVE THIS PHONE. switched over from iPhone 7 to Pixel 2XL have not regretted it at all
I pre-ordered the Pixel 2 XL, so I have had it since the beginning. I haven't experienced any burn-in issues, clicking or high pitched noises, nor the phone rebooting itself.
Had mine from launch - I have the slightest most insignificant burn in from the box that encompasses the on-screen buttons, you'll never notice it unless you specifically download an app to look for it. One issue that I do have is that sometimes the audio when recording video is extremely "metallic - sounding" and down right awful.
I've had the 2 XL for two weeks and this past week, the phone's screen started flashing when locking. I also see the blue shift. Happy New Year! Relied heavily on Android Authority upon switching from iOS to Android.
I have this phone, and I have not had this problem. Do I worry about it? Yes. But I have not seen it. Also, the smearing is something that is VERY noticeable on very low screen brightness. Whenever I turn the brightness back up, I don't even see it anymore.
Watching this from a Pixel 2 XL, had this phone since mid november, and I never had to deal with any of these problems. I was a Nexus 5 user, and this Pixel blew me away. It's perfect, smooth, I also like the colours in the normal "boosted" setting rather than the satured mode, even if they are obviously more dull than, for example, an S8. The Android experience is simply perfect, no clicking, no burn in; Assistant is awesome and so is the multi tasking. The price is the only thing that sucks, but I waited for a new phone for far too long, so I had enough money for it.
Both I and my husband have Pixel 2 XL's. No problems whatsoever. My son and daughter-in-law liked ours so well that they went from the iPhone camp (for many years) to Android and they, too now have Pixel 2 XL's. No similar issues yet but they just bought them a week ago. GREAT phone..
I did not experience any of those issues said in this video and I had have Pixel 2 XL since for over a month now... I had been keeping up to date news and issues about this phone and loving every moment of using it... Best photo experience ever had! Love this phone! Glad I waited for this long for the 2nd gen of Pixel!
Got the Pixel 2 XL when it was released. 3 days later I had screen burn and that blue color when you tilt it. Contacted Google and sent out a replacement unit. No issues since. Awesome phone!
It looks like a cheap phone, it feels like a cheap phone, it has the screen of a cheap phone, it has the feature-set of a cheap phone. The Pixel 2 is easily the most phoned in, unimaginative, low effort flagship to come out this year. Yes, the camera is great but so was the original Pixel 2. Yes, the phone is fast but that's mostly because it has no features. It's not a bad phone but google clearly didn't try at all this time. Hopefully next year they at least TRY to push the envelope in some way. The Pixel 2 is what I expect from Alcatel, not Google.
I've had my XL for a little over a week, so far I've had none of these issues. One of the best phones I've ever had, I didn't realize how much I was missing out by not having stock Android all these years. It's so much better.
Fortunately none of the problems you mentioned I have experienced so far in my one month old pixel 2 xl. But after the latest update I do notice handset getting unreasonably hot on using certain apps or on using multiple apps. This is especially true when using AR stickers. I wonder if Google has taken notice of this new problem.
yeah I had two of them, my original one and RMA one, and was wondering if this is just part to the low quality display? I again went ahead and purchased another one at a discount around 600 so I'm like hoping that is alright but with screen grain again, I'll just keep it cause of the camera...its amazing camera I have ever used...
Had this phone since it's Canada launch on mid Nov, so been a month and half. Had zero problem. Best phone ever had. Plus 2 years warrantee, nothing to worry about.
Baconface McGee yes but it won't be running very fast for long will it? Now jog on give Apple some more money and get a new battery for your piss poor retina screen!
Pixel 2 XL owner here. The update for color saturation really improved the look of the screen. Otherwise, I haven't had any of the issues mentioned in this video. I've had this phone for a little over 30 days. Got it from Verizon. Have been in multiple bad signal areas with no sudden restarts. I have Android version 8.1
I have two issues with my new 2XL: 1) Battery drain; however, clearing Play Services cache and not allowing it to run in the background when not in use seems to help. 2) The edges of the display seem to be quite sensitive. I think Google needs to work on better edge palm rejection, because as of now, it's too sensitive. I've found a few articles about this, and apparently Google is aware of this problem, but no word on when (or even if) a fix is coming.
Got the XL last month. None of these problems. The saturation update works great. Blue shift doesn't bother me, and I never noticed the jelly effect either and I don't see that ever bothering me. Never heard any clicking. No burn in yet.
One issue that stands out for me is that the microphone volume seems to be set very low when recording videos. I installed a voice recorder app and it's volume is good, it can pick up conversation in another room and far away.
I have no problem with Display burn in at all (6 weeks old Pixel 2 XL). There is a bit of image retention noticeable on a grey screen with max. brightness on the position of the navigation buttons this fades out within a few seconds. There has never been an issue with "dull" colours - a lot of users are just spoiled with those greatly unrealistic and ridiculously oversaturated AMOLED colours. Why didn't you mention the many other issues of the Pixel 2 XL like low volume voice recording especially in messaging apps like Whatsapp, the slow unlock and the slow charging issues a lot of users are experiencing?
"Could be a great phone"....is enough to stop some folks from dropping 800+ on a device. I want to love this phone so much but hell no I wouldn't buy. Not to mention the fact that a video like this HAS to be made listing the problems so far is just ridiculous. Google should be ashamed of this device.
Finally a comment from someone with common sense... It is hard to read the comments of people paying 800+ dollars on a flawed device trying to convince themselves that "it is no biggie"...what???
I've had my Pixel 2 xl for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it. I haven't experienced any of the problems listed in the video. Sure the screen isn't as sharp as others, but I wouldnt nessasarly list that as an issue for me and it definitely wouldnt cause me to not buy the phone. I've been a long time iPhone user and this was the best tech switch I ever made. Google is stepping it up and I'm loving it.
I must have a different phone to everyone else except a tiny bit of blue on tilting, this phone is superb what are these reviewer's trying to do! Ruin Google, they either suck up to cheap Chinese phones with no updates or service or wanna pay top dollar for another Samsung! And then moan about lag, fingerprint placement ect ect!
John Cotton I'm sure others who actually experience the other problems with this phone appreciates the effort put into this vid for providing as much detail as they can. Point is it's pretty stupid to think that android authority is listing out the problems with this phone just to make it look bad.
You realize that all the updates you get are to fix bugs they created in the first place, right? Better the "cheap" OnePlus 5t with better specs and immaculate screen, 128 GB / 8GB ram, perfectly placed and faster than Pixel 2 fingerprint scanner and blazing fast face recognition, a 3.5mm headphone jack and flawless if not better OS than pure Android at half the price. I am a Google / Android fan boy, but i have the Pixel 2 and had to return my Pixel 2 XL because of aggressive blue shift, but mainly I have two eyes and unbiased common sense...the Pixel 2 and 2 XL were a miss and expensive duds... You also realize that HTC that makes the Pixel 2 is from Taiwan (China), that LG that makes the Pixel 2 XL is South Korean. You also realize that the magnificent original Pixel XL (that I also have and love) is an HTC phone and that my favorite Nexus phone, the 6P was made on behalf of Google, that you protect so dearly, by...wait for it...Huawei, a Chinese manufacturer that makes great devices and now ranks 3rd smartphone manufacturer in the world. Looks to me like the only one trying to "suck up" is an ill-informed customer paying top dollar for a lesser and equally Asian phone. No hate here, just some tough love.
I have this phone for 2 months already and have not had no type of problems at all. Very satisfied with the performence of phone. Bought the phone knowing that it might have issue but the phone is still in tip top shape. No regrets, best phone ever in 2017
Untill you get buried in 2 layers of bloatware that turn otherwise great Samsung hardware into a fiendish cesspool. Never buying Samsung phone again...
These issues referred to in this video have all been corrected (from what I read and my new XL does not have the issues as the previous XL did). These were corrected by software updates and the hardware issue of early burn in and color shift when tilting the screen were fixed in the new batch of XL phones sold. The color shift is less pronounced although as with all OLED screens, they have the issue, part of the technology today.
This is so not true that "Blue shift is inherent to OLED"... don't take my word for it... see user scott10555 video ruclips.net/video/esx9Ym-5nZk/видео.html and my own at ruclips.net/video/QEajYCOo_lQ/видео.html . I also have the OnePlus 5T and there is ZERO blue shift even at the most extreme angle. So let's just not repeat what Google wants us to believe.
Water resistance is marketing hype IMHO...had smartphones forever, since first Nokia's and blackberries and never dropped a single phone in water.... Never had the need to use it in the shower or while swimming either... ;->
None of these issues and I have had this device since the beginning of December. This is a fabulously built device and knowing a month ago what I know today, I would buy it again.
I had Pixel 2xl and experienced burn in after a week of use and blue tint was very prominent. Now have pixel 2 with no issues and very happy with device.
I have had the pixel 2 xl. For a few weeks and have not even noticed "blue shift" or "burn in". And even if you watch media the aspect ratio blacks out so called burn in areas? On top the other issues have been patched. And like any screen unless you make a colour comparison. The colours are unnoticeable is different. Meanwhile I have massive range with pixel buds, unbelievable photos enough for my wife who says my phones are a waste of money. But now wants one! Honestly the pixel 2 has not disappointed.
Happily using the 2 xl for the past 3 months and have not had any issues reported. I did have an annoying and persistent 'notification' sound with no actual notifications which I found was due to the 'nearby' option being turned on.
Jatin, you, my friend, are 100% accurate. I am surprised of all those people rationalizing with comments like "it's no biggie" or "I can live with it" or "it's overblown". In the days of Nexus devices where full specked devices were half the price and latest OS (as beta testers to iron out the bugs), then it was fair game, if not exciting... Now if you pay top dollars for a flagship device, then you don't want buggy hardware and be a beta tester for the OS. This is NOT acceptable.
They knew exactly what they were doing by selling an inferior device at a premium price...they tried to pull a fast one and it seems to have worked by seeing the comments on this post. Even I, am a Nexus/Pixel/Android die hard fan, but I still have two eyes that work and a common sense, so do you apparently, but the amount of people making excuses for Google is "dam too high!!!".
i went through 4 phones before the fadeout nav buttons software update. All of them (including the 4th one) seemed to have it. However, with the new update, the burn in has completely disappeared. This seems counterintuitive, but then I researched and realized, it's not so much burn in as image retention thats affecting the phones. Even with the new device, if I intentionally keep chrome open for a while, i can see burn in type artifacts on a grey screen, but it disappears over a period of about 15 minutes of regular screen usage
I am an iPhone user looking to becoming a Pixel user. From a lot of the feedback that I have read it sounds many users did not experience these issues. Which is good to know.
I have had the XL for a month and the only issue I noticed was the black smearing at the lowest brightness in a dark room. Other than that there's no burn in or other issues besides the blue tint. I love this phone
Since Google made that update to choose the saturated option I have no issues with the display. I would say that the note 8 is a better phone in almost any way possible
I have used the Pixel 2 XL as my daily driver since the beginning of November. I have not had any screen burn in, and I have checked every week for it. I also have not experienced any black smudging during the time of have used the phone. One thing I have noticed is a color shift when viewing the phone from non-perpendicular angles. I've held my phone side-by-side with a Note 8 and there is a noticeable color-shift to warmer colors on the Pixel 2 XL. Other than the color-shift I have had no issues with my device.
LG P-OLED is inferior, let's be honest. I had the Pixel 2 XL and the S8+. I returned the Pixel 2 XL for the blue Tint and the S8+ for the bloatware, but the Samsung screen was fabulous. I got the OnePlus 5T with OLED screen at 1080P and it is magnificent... No blue tint, no burn in and my eyes cannot see the difference between the 1080P versus the higher PPI of the other flagship. I got the HTC U11+ from Wondamobile from China, the one with the transparent back and while it was a stunning device with amazing squeeze functionality that Google did not fully replicate, the U11+ had a dull LCD screen with marginal brightness. In my book, the OnePlus 5T was the best phone bar none for 2017 and with its price, the best value, but regardless of price, it is just great hardware.
Typing this from my pixel XL to right now. There is a slight blue shift noted when viewing the screen from above an angle of 45°. However this is really barely noticeable in real life use. Otherwise this phone is everything that I've ever wanted from a smartphone. Great user experience, customizability, fast updates, reliable company that offers quick fixes, and an amazing camera. The screen is honestly great if you can look past the blue shift and the Dual stereo speakers are amazing.
I LOVE my P2XL. I have the blue shift but its not that bad. Vibrancy seems fine after that update. My biggest issue so far was one you didn't even cover and that was issues with the mic on Bluetooth headsets and hands free controls, but that was finally fixed with the 8.1 update. Oh, and BTW, the battery life is friggin' amazing on this phone!
Very happy with my Pixel XL, was nervous as he'll waiting for my phone. Received it in early Dec, ran all the updates and have had no issues. I do have the blue hue when viewed from an angle, but it is very mild. One issue I do have, is I have to repeatedly hit the X to close programs on pop ups annoys the he'll out of me.
Had the Pixel 2 XL for about 2 months now. Never experienced most of these symptoms with the exception of the black smear. Only on Facebook, only on low brightness but it did occur multiple times. A bit annoying to be honest but not a deal breaker for me as adjusting the brightness seems to solve the issue and it doesn't happen all the time. Love the phone though, I couldn't be happier with the great assistant, fast software and above all the incredible camera. I have never been a camera person but ever since I got it I just cannot get enough of the portrait mode. People have been asking me to send them the pictures I took so they can post it on Facebook and Instagram ever since I got the phone, even ppl with Samsung Galaxy s8 and iPhone 8! Worth it overall!
I've had my Pixel 2 XL for a few weeks now, no issues here and I actually settled on the "Boosted" color mode, the saturated mode is comically over saturated.
I've had my Pixel 2 XL since December 15, no burn-in. The screen looks great to me. There's definitely a blue-shift when the phone is tilted but I don't notice it in regular daily usage.
I have the Pixel 2 XL, since Dec 9, 2017. I did hear about some of the issues, but to date, my phone has had zero issues, with screen, color, or battery. No noises coming out from NFC use. I probably will wonder about replacing the battery in about 2 years though.
I have had this phone since launch and I have not perceived any burn in. Maybe if you set the phone to a specific brightness and loaded a specific grey background you could notice it, but I haven't.
Owner here. No issues with the screen, audio, battery, digitizer or otherwise. Display looks much more accurate and natural than my brother's Sammy Note 8, which looks cartoony.
Owned the Pixel 2 XL since mid-November 2017 and haven't had any of these issues! No regrets whatsoever with purchasing this device (except for maybe the price :) )
Got the phone for Xmas from Google, no issues so far. Love the phone and battery life. I also have a Note 8, but my sim is in the pixel 2 xl for now... :)
Happy New Year all! Let us know about your Pixel 2 XL experience.
Android Authority it's alright
gay
Android Authority it's lovely

Android Authority Sorry forgot to say Happy New Year to you AA and keep doing what you guys do on you YT. I only follow the greats, AA, MKBHD, & PN 😊
Had the phone since launch and have had no issues with screen, sounds, or battery.
Exactly.. people just keep making fuss about the small, completely irrelevant and some cases non existent issues just because this phone excels in every department.. they just have to bring this issues so as to give note 8 and iPhone a upper hand in majority of the public
This is just b.s problems. Pixel 2 is a great phone.
Rajesh Das false. I got the pixel 2 XL at launch and I immediately noticed how bad the screen was. I don't care about the note 8 or the iPhone. I returned it and got the small one.
Giga Tech - Biased? Explain....
My friend is on his 4th pixel 2 XL since thursday , he keep getting same problem over and over, after a full day of use, it powered down.
Should have created and linked to a poll so people can vote for issues they have. And it'll help show how often they happen.
Alovatololo a poll? You know how many people who don't own the phone will vote
The same amount of people who comment on the video about issues on the phone that they don't own?
I have this phone and have not had any of these problems yet......I bought the phone knowing it might have problems and do not regret it at all ... Best phone of 2017 in my eyes
Color accuracy is a problem apparently too 😂😂
Issues are always exaggerated however the reboot issue does happen with my buddies phone. I feel this issue would only be seen by people that live in rural markets where coverage is always weak. We never knew why till seeing this video. I honestly believe though that the note 8 is the best phone of the year if it just had better updates
I love the Samsung phones , the only thing that turns me off about them is the lack of updates.
Daniel Hanson totally agree with you there
Daniel Hanson - And the fact that they start lagging over time. Then require factory resets.
Other than viewing angles...which don't bother me...my only issue is people having issues that I don't have.
Andrew Lee exactly my thoughts let's have a video on every phone we have a report about a problem on!
Haha exactly!!
I have had the Pixel 2xl for about 2 months now and I haven't had any burn in issues. I have the Storm trooper edition and run on saturated mode. The screen is awesome and I think the complaints are ridiculously exaggerated.
Andrew Barber EXACTLY
For $900 you should have an excellent display like on the Note 8 and iPhone X. This phone is a big joke!!!

Google: We’re looking in to the matter.
Steven D more like we're Googling the matter.
Steven D Google: we actually fix the problem faster than everybody else
at least they actually make somewhat of an effort to fix their faults
They should hurry or Apple will start making fun of them back 😅
Not fast enough. They have people like me and a notable amount of top reviewers locked in with day-day performance, battery life and the camera. Despite all the hate they gave it, most Android reviewers use it as their daily driver. They need to disassociate software/security updates with hardware related/bug fixes.
My issue is there's no headphone jack
My friend has this phone and complains about the USB-C headphone adapter not working half the time either
Alex Hall some people care about audio quality. Bluetooth is not quite there yet.
Same here
Pixel 2 XL, no issues here so far.
I have the Pixel 2 XL and I sell them all the time. Not a single person has complained about any of these issues. I haven't had any of these issues except for the blue hue and it's not even close to how bad everyone makes it out to be.
Bedjam Rivera they just have to.. they need to downgrade it in some department to give Samsung and Apple some edge because it cruses them in most..
Rajesh Das yeah everyone has something to say but the consumers love it
So how much do you sell them...
Leo Flores I work at Target Tech. Found inside your local Target. It's going to be the same price as Google & Verizon have them except for the promotions we run can be slightly different than theirs.
People always do that. It's like S8/S8+/Note8 fingerprint scanner location all over again. As a Note8 owner I can say: *you can get used to it*
Have the Pixel 2 XL. No burn ins. Slight blue tint (doesn't bother me). I am fine with the color balance. Saturated looks ridiculous. Black smear occurs sometimes. No random frequency noises. Been using it for 2 months now.
Amol Mahajan do a software update
Same
I couldn't afford the Pixel 2 (XL) in the first place, so I went for the LG G6 - in my opinion the most underappreciated phone of 2017.
I had the G6. Other than the terrible battery life I really liked it. It was really underrated. I traded it in for the V30+ but I will buy another G6 one day and use it as a backup.
Can't Google just Google the solutions to these?
Jerrin Thomas I giggled but get out lol
My pixel 2 xl has a little bit burnin around the navigation bar.
Haocheng I have this also on my Pixel 2 XL, after 3 weeks just now noticed
Thnx for being honest. Rest owners are claiming they have no issues at all, like all was made up.
Goran Petrovic The only way to spot it is watching video with full screen. So maybe they did not find the issue.
Haocheng its completly unacceptable for burning in to appear so soon. It will only be worse with time.
I don't have any on mine after 3 weeks ish, though I'm not a heavy user (1-2 hrs usage on normal days)
i have the pixel 2 xl and no issues lmao
areeb1296 he must have blue shift issues
areeb1296 blue shift isnt even an issue lol. People exaggerate it
You have to look so hard to find the issues, that they're not really issues.
Blue shift isn't an "issue", it's a characteristic of the OLED panel, even samsung phones have it, I had a galaxy S3 that had it, the S8 is known to have it, you just see it more on the pixel because they decided to dull the colors and the media decided to be picky about it
areeb1296 nope it's very very very minimal
I have had the pixel 2 XL for about a month now. I have had ZERO issues with it. That being said I got the phone after most of the major patches. I went from the LG G4, to the pixel 2XL and I am in awe. Love it. Happy new year!
Is this forgivable? You spent 700-800$ phone and they giving us so many issues? Its 2018. I think this is not right. We deserved a well built devices
I think it has to do with the first units off the production line. People often recommend waiting a month before buying a product so they can work out all the kinks.
Its not their fault.Its LG's
Go for note 8
Mark Lennon Ladroma the issues have been fixed
Haven't had any issues like this to report. It seems to be blown out of proportion.
Happy New Year! Can't wait to get mine... arrives in January
Pixel 2 XL user here, I've definitely noticed the burn in on my phones screen, however since they released an update to prevent this I don't believe it's gotten any worse.
If you buy a pixel 2 XL be sure to download all available software updates for the best experience.
Luke Gackle we'll just flash a fastboot image
Luke Gackle Thanks for the advice, but perhaps I'll go with the pixel 2, I'm not crazy for the 18:9 display and saving a bit would be nice
Burn-in is not acceptable for an expensive phone just after a few weeks.
kelvin cruzada I totally agree but atleast Google have done something to rectify the issue.
I'll certainly be making use of the 2 year warranty if anything gets worse on the phone, but so far I'm really happy with it.
Luke, you realize that you have a very expensive brand new phone that is permanently damaged, right? That is not acceptable.
I've had none of these issues
Happy 2018
Happy 2019
I have the Pixel 2 XL for over a month now and have not had any of those issues. LOVE THIS PHONE. switched over from iPhone 7 to Pixel 2XL have not regretted it at all
1st problem, The Price!
lol yup
I pre-ordered the Pixel 2 XL, so I have had it since the beginning. I haven't experienced any burn-in issues, clicking or high pitched noises, nor the phone rebooting itself.
I have the Pixel 2 XL. The best phone I have ever used.
Glad to see you got your 1st smartphone ever.
Had mine from launch - I have the slightest most insignificant burn in from the box that encompasses the on-screen buttons, you'll never notice it unless you specifically download an app to look for it. One issue that I do have is that sometimes the audio when recording video is extremely "metallic - sounding" and down right awful.
I'm surprised no one is mentioning how long the charging takes the on pixel 2 xl
peter kim mine charges super fast, wth are you talking about???
peter kim my charge is fine and the battery life is amazing
Lol troll
how long does yours take to charge? Mine takes 2.5+ hours using stock charger.
im not trolling. type in pixel 2 xl charging issues and you will see a bunch of forums with people having the same problem.
I've had the 2 XL for two weeks and this past week, the phone's screen started flashing when locking. I also see the blue shift. Happy New Year! Relied heavily on Android Authority upon switching from iOS to Android.
Google get oled display from samsung plz
Excuse me? Where is the speaker distortion issue? AA has reported the issue itself on 22nd December
The price is the only thing that sucks, but I waited for a new phone for far too long, so I had enough money for it.
i'll let you know in 2 years, when i can afford a used one
1 year to go? ;)
Its 2020 where are you ?
How was it
Both I and my husband have Pixel 2 XL's. No problems whatsoever. My son and daughter-in-law liked ours so well that they went from the iPhone camp (for many years) to Android and they, too now have Pixel 2 XL's. No similar issues yet but they just bought them a week ago. GREAT phone..
Why get the pixel 2 xl when you can get the s8.
bandrew you should get Pixel 2 for awesome camera, awesome software, awesome fast updates
bandrew Software. Besides, S9 is coming in less than three months.
because not everyone wants a Gay8
I did not experience any of those issues said in this video and I had have Pixel 2 XL since for over a month now... I had been keeping up to date news and issues about this phone and loving every moment of using it... Best photo experience ever had! Love this phone! Glad I waited for this long for the 2nd gen of Pixel!
Happy New Year 2018 !!
Got the Pixel 2 XL when it was released. 3 days later I had screen burn and that blue color when you tilt it. Contacted Google and sent out a replacement unit. No issues since. Awesome phone!
Best phone of 2017. Easy.
Nokia is the best phone of 2017
Joshua Engering yes it's an ok phone , i feel i would pay at least 15 dollars for one ;) .
The Pixel 2 is what I expect from Alcatel, not Google.
more like worst phone. None of the phones launched in 2017 has so many hardware problems.
Lmaooooo
I've had my XL for a little over a week, so far I've had none of these issues. One of the best phones I've ever had, I didn't realize how much I was missing out by not having stock Android all these years. It's so much better.
Google should just buy OLED panels from Samsung instead of LG
Timi Akinlonu It has nothing to do with the hardware. It's calibration and software.
Two concerning issues I have is the audio is not the best when recording. And wifi disconnecting randomly
Smooth is probably right. I have the pixel 2 and only have that connection issue at my gym (shitty router). Everywhere else it's super solid
Audio when recording problem has been fixed
Khal H mines still sounds weird it's hit and miss. It's not the worst and it's not the biggest deal. But it would be nice to have it 100%
Marvin Williams update your phone's software
Gwrightproductions1 it's been on 8.1 since it was released thanks man
had the phone for over a month now... no issues with mine. I'm loving the device!
I returned mine because my screen was too grainy.
yeah I had two of them, my original one and RMA one, and was wondering if this is just part to the low quality display? I again went ahead and purchased another one at a discount around 600 so I'm like hoping that is alright but with screen grain again, I'll just keep it cause of the camera...its amazing camera I have ever used...
Reuben Skelly of course it shouldn't but some of them (like mine) are.
Reuben Skelly Thats actually not true. Google has confirmed that its an issue with every single pixel 2 xl panel.
Luis Sibrian I ended up just getting the regular Pixel 2 because of that and all the other issues.
The sad part is, the regular pixel 2 cant hold a candle to the XL. Even with all the 2 XL issues its still a far superior phone.
Had this phone since it's Canada launch on mid Nov, so been a month and half. Had zero problem. Best phone ever had. Plus 2 years warrantee, nothing to worry about.
My iPhone 7's LCD hasn't experienced this. And it never will.
All problems are fix. Enjoying the phone!
Hopefully the Pixel 3 works out the kinks of the two. I'd almost buy the first one over the second.
MaiZeAwaKened they fixed all the issues
MaiZeAwaKened same here
Got the XL last month. None of these problems.
The saturation update works great. Blue shift doesn't bother me, and I never noticed the jelly effect either and I don't see that ever bothering me.
Never heard any clicking. No burn in yet.
looks like the pixel is forever in read mode 😀
One issue that stands out for me is that the microphone volume seems to be set very low when recording videos. I installed a voice recorder app and it's volume is good, it can pick up conversation in another room and far away.
Bunch of problems: shitty display, ugly design, no headphone jack and extremely overpriced
Google should be ashamed of this device.
se7enBC1 they fixed the issues and I love this phone so much
Reuben Skelly you bought a lot of phones before the pixel. Can I have one of your previous phones? 🙏
Finally a comment from someone with common sense... It is hard to read the comments of people paying 800+ dollars on a flawed device trying to convince themselves that "it is no biggie"...what???
se7enBC1 I sgree
No regrets, best phone ever in 2017
I would rather buy Galaxy A8 2018 That Look similar to Pixel 2 XL
you should instead buy a galaxy s8 once the s9 comes out: also as good price as the a8 by then, but it will be fast with way more feature
Untill you get buried in 2 layers of bloatware that turn otherwise great Samsung hardware into a fiendish cesspool.
Never buying Samsung phone again...
What a noob' you rather get the galaxy a8 2018 than the pixel 2 xl? Reallly!?
rather buy s7 egde. Cheaper than A8 and much better.
Christopher Burke - Same here. Galaxy S8 was my last Samsung phone. Never getting another one again.
Pixel xl 2 is such a clusterfuck
Jarkko Väänänen how so?
.... Well besides the seemingly never ending list of issues it has had?
Jarkko Väänänen the issues are overblown. The fixed the issues one month after release.
Jarkko Väänänen take no notice ask how many pixel 2 owners have had no problems you will get far more happy owners myself included
Gwrightproductions1 Sounds like you're just trying to justify your poor purchase decision.
got the 2xl more than a month ago, and I'm glad to say that I haven't had any issues with burn-in what so ever
I rather pick up Opne Plus 5T instead!
Sergio Carreto but available with Verizon
And lose water resistance and an amazing camera?
Water resistance is marketing hype IMHO...had smartphones forever, since first Nokia's and blackberries and never dropped a single phone in water.... Never had the need to use it in the shower or while swimming either... ;->
Maybe I want to fap in the shower.
None of these issues and I have had this device since the beginning of December. This is a fabulously built device and knowing a month ago what I know today, I would buy it again.
1st
you are actually the first, unlike almost everyone else that says they're first
To get beheaded.
Computers 101!!! Yay thanks 🙏
Have the phone. Did not experience burn in at all. No noises, no reboot issue. GREAT PHONE!
Happily using the 2 xl for the past 3 months and have not had any issues reported. I did have an annoying and persistent 'notification' sound with no actual notifications which I found was due to the 'nearby' option being turned on.
What about the rear camera flickering with certain leds? As well as banding using the front camera against leds?
Now phones are crossing $1000 price there should be no complaints at that high price point there will be nitpicking
This is NOT acceptable.
cac2244 I am surprised that Google quality control has passed it with so many problems in it
They knew exactly what they were doing by selling an inferior device at a premium price...they tried to pull a fast one and it seems to have worked by seeing the comments on this post. Even I, am a Nexus/Pixel/Android die hard fan, but I still have two eyes that work and a common sense, so do you apparently, but the amount of people making excuses for Google is "dam too high!!!".
cac2244 these reviewers don't mind the display because they got it for free
I have it for two months and I have not had any problems, I am very happy
i went through 4 phones before the fadeout nav buttons software update.
I've had the pixel 2 xl for a few weeks now and I haven't experienced any of said problems. best phone I've ever owned
Happy New year AA!
Have had mine 2 weeks with no issues. I have a December built 2 XL not a launch batch though.
I've had the xl since December and absolutely love it. No problems just love the camera battery life and stock android.
How does LG OLED displays(one in the Pixel 2 XL and V30) stack up against other flagships like Note 8, S8, iPhone x, OnePlus 5T, U11 plus etc
In my book, the OnePlus 5T was the best phone bar none for 2017 and with its price, the best value, but regardless of price, it is just great hardware.
cac2244 Thanks man
Typing this from my pixel XL to right now.
The main issue that's not being discussed is that it's hook into A.I. quantum puters through Goo gle. What could go wrong with that?
I've had the pixel XL 2 for three months and I've had zero issues. Best phone I've ever owned.
Owner here. No issues with the screen, audio, battery, digitizer or otherwise. Display looks much more accurate and natural than my brother's Sammy Note 8, which looks cartoony.
Have had the Pixel 2 XL for about three weeks and no issues so far.
Owned the Pixel 2 XL since mid-November 2017 and haven't had any of these issues! No regrets whatsoever with purchasing this device (except for maybe the price :) )
Wasn't the clicking /weird noises thing a fault with last year's pixels also ????
Got the phone for Xmas from Google, no issues so far. Love the phone and battery life. I also have a Note 8, but my sim is in the pixel 2 xl for now... :)
Happy New Year Jayce
