Incorrect it's image retention not ghosting as you put it. Burn in is permanent retention of an image on a display. Ghosting refers to trails behind pixels that can not transition fast quickly enough.
Reading this on my 6P! I love this device. I was worried about the battery life but I easily get a full day, unless I'm watching RUclips videos all day. Bought it used too.
I happy they addressed many of the issues and increased their warranty, I hope they could release the next Pixel generation without so many issues next time :)
I'm still not happy. I'm probably going to return my new pixel 2 xl :/ I love the camera and the speed but the screen looks horrible. What bothers me most is the grainy paperlike texture. Everything looks slightly dirty and Greyish. It doesn't even look like an 1440 p display to me when I put my 1440 p nokia 8 next to it. Maybe I got a bad unit but I've Googled it and they say the grain is something you would have to live with. Sorry I can't :/
I have the exact same Pixel 2 XL as you and I love it. I use the Assistant quite a bit so the squeeze to activate feature is a nice addition for me as well. I am a huge fan of Front Facing Audio and the 2 XL is a great addition to my N6 and 6P. I'm also a Project fi subscriber and their call back time is always under a minute. Best customer service I've ever experienced. I'm sure the Pixel 2 XL is not for everyone but it absolutely is for me.
Playdust Hey, I use it for a little of everything actually. From having it shuffle one of my Google Play playlists to my Chromecast, to playing one of my Pandora stations via my cars bluetooth audio system. I ask it daily about traffic conditions when I'm on the road. I use it for my daily briefing (Hey Google, what's my day like). I use it for hands free dialing. I can have it send and reply to messages without ever touching the keyboard. I also find the shortcuts you can create to be very useful. If you're patient learning your way through it and at set it up around your interests, I think you'll really enjoy it.
The problem with these phones is that they are right up there in the $1,000 mark and have all kinds of bugs and issues. You would think they would be testing these phones before releasing them to the public. These phone feel like they are built and no real people use them and give feedback.
Thanks for waiting to put this up, allowing Google to make the needed fixes, and confirm what I already knew, which is this phone is just awesome. I had a Nexus 6 prior to my 2 XL, and I can't believe how far this phone has exceeded my expectations. As much as I loved the Nexus 6, the Pixel 2 XL is just a pleasure to use, and worth every penny.
Bhavik Singh wireless charging is not that important to me, and as far as I know the Nexus 6 did not have an IP rating, although using it over 2 years it definitely was splash-proof. The 2 XL is definitely an upgrade.
Yup, it's literally the perfect upgrade you can get from your 6. It has come a long way, more feature to improve the user experience, better camera processing, smoother software, better software support. Pixel 2 and pixel 2 xl are some of the best android devices you can buy right now. The display issues do exist and it's not excusable for a company like google, but we have to appreciate the fact that they are fixing it. I create tech based content in my channel, if you don't mind please do give ym channel a visit. I will greatly appreciate it if you could.
I've been using a nexus 6 for a few years, just about to pull the trigger on one if these. Glad to hear your experience has been a good one. Gives me a little more confidence in the expensive purchase!
Immanuel Kant as far as iphone X goes, no. It too would easily suffer from burn in. Thats why apple uses the new live wallpaper but for the Note 8 or S8, the chance of that happening it tiny and after years of usage, not a couple of weeks like this pixel. Add to that all the bugs and problems it has everyday
its an amazing phone, if u hv money then go for it or wait for pixel 3. I hv 2 problems with it tho. no headphone jack & its display feels plastic compare to N6's display, it feels like glass. not this one.
Tobo, I still get well over a day on my Pixel 2 XL. You might want to see if there is an app that's draining your phone and if you've already gone that route, see about getting it replaced.
How is the pixel phone!? I’m looking to switch off Apple to android for the first time in years. Looking for a lag free experience. A long lasting phone that won’t slow down.
A Lot of the things you like on this phone, is the very same on others, like the HTC U11+, half the price of a google pixel 2 in Denmark, that phone also runs Orio (Android 8) has an almost as good a camera and a better squeeze where you can do with it what you want, also better batteri, 128gb storage and 6gb ram, and no screen issues at all... did i mention it's half the prize in denmark if I was to import the Pixel? Glad I have a U11+ on the way! Cant wait! I'm i BIG Google fan, but this is just too expensive to import or buy.
Descenter1976 I'd love a U11+, but HTC isn't releasing them in the US so they won't work on our carriers, even if I had one shipped from overseas. Looks like a pixel 2 xl for me.
@@blackbonestudio6189 It’s a great phone the camera is amazing only had it a year though found the size too big especially when working out. Had the iPhone XS the past 2 years now.
The amount of people in the comments that cannot change their views on the 2 XL despite the facts is astonishing. The 2 XL's only problem is the screen. Every phone has a problem. No phone is perfect. For what it is, the image retention of the 2 XL is a minor problem in the grand scheme of things.
GamingDude800 It is minor. I only see if it I open an image and look directly at the on screen buttons. Otherwise if I'd have never learnt about it I would've never seen it.
The pixel 2 XL is a great phone but I don't think it deserves that high price tag, especially since it's pretty bare bones. In my humble opinion some of the phones that truly justify their prices this year are the LG V30 and Galaxy S8 and S8+ Some could argue the Note 8 does that too, I even ended up buying one. Stock android? Meh, I'd rather get the features added by OEMs, even Google itself adopts them. Like split screen multitasking for example.
Really fair review. I love the phone and it's been my daily driver without complaint. The audio when recording had been fixed on the latest update (in beta now and I'm running it). Google really has responded very well to getting this phone ironed out. I'm just afraid many won't try it because of that and because of the price. They should knock $120 off and then I think people would do new reviews, second looks, and give it a much better grade.
Spyder it doesn't. And he doesn't have a valid reason for having said that. He's just a typical drone who is going along with the poor excuse for capitalism taking place in the smartphone world. In other words, he's just spreading his cheeks wider for these large corporations.
It seems like an awesome phone, but there are some straight out odd downsides to it. The plastic coating on the back being susceptible to coloration and the display concerns make aging a sizable question mark. There is also the weird decision to omit features like an SD card slot and yes, a headphone jack. If it was my money, i wouldn't get this otherwise really solid phone.
GamingDude800 you sound angry like his comment is a personal affront to you, can we keep some perspective folks, my understanding of his comment was that all manufacturers have to take steps in software to mitigate against this inevitable problem with OLED technology, not cure it.
Pocketnow Fading is not the solution though. Changing pixel position would have been better & this should not have been applied to the bottom bar only - the icons being burnt in is an awful thing to experience. It's a shame that such fixes had not been applied after the QA process...if there had even been a QA process.
LG G5 uses painted metal, reviewers call it cheap. Pixel 2 uses painted metal, reviewers call it nice and grippy. And can anyone tell me how much Google is paying and/or blackmailing reviewers to say their camera is the absolute best ?? From what I've seen, pictures in good light and low light are not that different from the Note8 or Mate10,,, and the portrait mode is all over the place (see 5:48, 5:57, 6:00), not even close to the excellent Mate10 portraits.
For the money they charge you, it better come close to flawless. Don't care about the brand. If it's shit, no thanks. I am not a fanboy of any brand. Give me something good or I move to another company. The compromises I am willing to make will never include faulty hardware.
Loudness doesn't mean good quality. The Pixels have a fuller sound then the iPhone, which is nice and it gets plenty loud at full volume. Plus it still sounds good and is not as shrill as the iPhone.
i never had a problem with saturation, but the blue shift no matter how much you say is normal and visible on other phones, it's definitely a lot more visible on the pixel xl 2. I honestly don't notice it on the s8.
I love how people shits on iphone when they decided to remove the headphone jack last year, no wireless charge. "Oh no, all my fancy headphone is useless now, can't use headphone while charging, bluetooth headphone doesn't sound as good as traditional 3.5 mm audio jack headphone, its 2016/17, wireless charging is a thing now, etc etc" - and when google do those things in late 2017, people were like "yeah, lack of audio jack isn't something new, wireless charge is not THAT fast compared to usual plug in charge, pixel got no wireless charge? i can live with that".
n e i'm not saying google doesn't get hate. I'm saying that it's 'funny' that people shits on iphone for these exact reasons ; no headphone jack, no wireless charging - and when google do the exact, same thing on pixel 2 in late 2017, suddenly no headphone jack and no wireless charging is 'okay'.
Kinda what Apple meant by courage. They were the first large smartphone manufacturer to support removing it so it wouldn’t be so painful for other companies in the long run.
After using my 6p and now my Pixel XL I was bummed that I was gonna have to hold off on the Pixel 2 XL. That display turned me off as soon as I saw it and that blue tint? Geez, that's not normal I don't care what anyone says. I may pick up the Pixel 2 when I can find it around the price that it's actually worth, $400. And of course there's yet ANOTHER dbrand plug.
Brian West With 8.1 any concerns I've had about mine are gone. Blue Tint vanished after 2 weeks, and it was at its worst out of the box. Burn in/retention is so slight it's unnoticeable unless I open up an image and go out of my way to see it, and with 8.1, colours look great on here. But it's your call.
Rayan Arshed I'm passing on it. I may try the Pixel 2 but not the 2 XL. You're the first person I've heard say that the blue tint disappeared. I don't see how that's possible. More than likely you just got used to it.
I have thought about this for a long time and I think making it available only through Google or Verizon keeps the relative value of the phone high. Compare it to the LG v30 which is widely available and you can buy them off of swappa or eBay for $500~
Deshawn Saunders I mean for music it uses both... So why not phone calls too..? Weird. Maybe it's so it doesn't interfere with the mic since the mic hole is at the top?
Have a Nexus 6p and was lucky enough to get the burnin replaced just before warranty ended. No more cheap screens. Was planning on getting pixel 2 but too many issues. Going for the note 8
Anthony Turner L Love the phone. Performance is butter smooth. The camera is great. I haven't had any of the issues that have been reported on the 2 XL. Just download the developer preview for 8.0.1 so far no issues & haven't had those reboot issues either. The best experience I have had using Android. Battery performance has been good for me as well. I get about 5 hours screen on time & that works for me. The front facing speakers are dope, great sound. Before this phone I had the Honor 8. 👍
Sorry but I don't think it's a great looking phone....I know looks is subjective..but for me the Samsung galaxy note 8 is the best looking device of 2017.
I really like the comment about the camera when you said the software just takes care of it. It's a little weird coming from phones with pro modes, but you can't argue with the results. Great video Jaime!
I think it is great for this to have happened to Google. It shows us how the industry is moving from just being a good manufacturer to a great after sales service support company. All these issues and google is doing a great job to push patches and after sales support. Great work Google.
Question: What's the difference in camera between the stanard Pixel 2 and the XL? I really want this phone for the camera, but the XL seems a bit out of my price range at the moment. Can someone explain the difference plz?
Erislandy Valdez I get that. I don't care about the blue hue or unsaturated colours (I love both LCD and LED displays) but, burn-ins at such short period of time is, like I said, inexcusable.
OLED screens have Blue Shift Yes that's true. But the shift in the XL happens even if the phone is slightly off axis but other phones show the blue shift only if they are extremely off axis.
Y’all didn’t watch the video clearly. This video was to show all the things that was FIXED that’s to google being consistent with updates unless it’s something major apply would not have jumped on an issue to fix that quick. We got the same type of video when Samsung did all their fixing from the note 7 thing
Tyler Beasley but these things are not fixed.. just because his handset appeared to be okay. Plenty people still are seeing burnin with the mid November batch
Mick Harrison so when will you allow progress to be reported? Only when there are no further instances of problems thou know as well as the rest of us, that there has never been such a device nor I'd contend is there likely to ever be. Others are judging the XL on their experience with it, how is it disingenuous for Jamie to do the same?
Jaime, I'm assuming you got a later batch phone, have you noticed any issues with blacks smearing or graininess on low light? I use my phone in the dark a lot and that would be a potential killer for me.
returning my pixel 2xl the screen is just plain awful don't sugar coat it guys, if I'm spending a thousand dollars on a phone I'm not gonna live with that screen
Well it's not sugarcoating. What I will tell you is that our phone wasn't first batch. It actually arrived about two weeks late. Maybe the newer units have less issues. ^JR
steve b nah I have a November batch .. still shit. Phone flashes when you go to lock it or unlock.. blue tint and a small angle, screen burnin and a few dead pixels
Hey how about throwing in a different SIM card to see how it works with other carriers. I'm debating whether to buy the unlocked from the google store or just going to Best Buy and buying the Verizon model and switching it with my T mobile SIM card.
Ibrahim Ahmed I have iPhones and I have Galaxies and other android phones. I have a Mac, MacBook and 3 PCs also and a few Toshiba laptops so you can figure out now what I am instead of your idiotic comment that had no basis since I never mentioned Apple in my original comment. Hell I just bought a Google Home today.
Immanuel Kant because he can? Or, his family prefers macs? Or maybe he just prefers Macs and he uses his PCs as home servers? There’s a plethora of reasons that one would have multiple PCs and Macs.
Pocketnow but if just after a month of use you're saying that there's barely noticeable screen burn in, then just imagine what will happen in the next 2 years of me using the phone. 😣
Pocketnow a month? Should only show signs after 12 months or more. For 1500 screen burnin should be noticeable at all. Google haven't fixed shit. My phone has burnin and it came with the new update.
Pathetic how this guy is always trying to defend this phone, he should just admit that the iPhone X, Note8 and even the V30 are far better options than this pixel
Pocketnow I didn't say anything about if you have or not videos about them, I said is just tiring and pointless to keep trying to defend that phone, I got nothing against google, but is just obvious that pixel 2 xl was a total FAIL, everybody knows it, the screen is just garbage, no software can make up for faulty hardware and to make things worse, is fucking expensive, not to mention the ugly design and the plasticky coating which feels cheap, lets hope that next pixel gets better but in the meantime, this phone is CRAP, id get another phone from another brand.. iPhone X, Note8, V30, 5T, the list goes one and one, so plz stop trying to justify this google failure
Your blue screen shift comparison in this review actually shows the XL with a more pronounced blue shift. Not saying it's necessarily a deal breaker for most, but IS poor design when compared to other displays that handle the shift better. I don't own the phone. I have 3 friends that do own the phone and I've seen it in a Verizon store. Looking at it straight on I agree it's a very nice display, but blue shift starts to happen almost immediately when you begin to tilt the phone. You don't have to tilt it as far as other flagships out right now such then S8/S8+, Note 8, or iPhone X before the blue shift happens. Just my experience when comparing phones.
Now wondering if I should return my un-opened Google 2 XL ? Really un-sure from conflicting reviews. I have been a samsung user for years (won't go with Apple) but I feel if i'd known about the memory card/ headphones/screen issues & not being a customisable model I would not have chosen this phone. I was told i can't return it but fairly sure that's BS.
Watching this on my XL 2, forget all the haters, I love this phone. And the update with saturated mode makes the display incredible! Definitely recommend!
Come on Jaime, don't say you don't need more than 4GB. Even Razer and Oneplus is offering 8GB right now. Pixel is optimised i give you that, but it is still an android. Android needs more RAM to sustain its feature rich system. In this case, more ram is always better. We get you are a fan of pixel, but let's face it. 4GB RAM in this shitty price with shitty display with shitty back coating and no jack? No thanks.
Do some homework. Learn how much Android can truly allocate. Then ask yourself why Google decided to not add more. Who knows Android better than Google, dude? ^JR
U just hardware junkies aren't you? Dude 4gb of ram is more than enough. Tell me 1 app that eat more than 2gb alone? Optimization is the key. Why boosting 1000000000gb of ram if the optimization is suck? Its like buying ps4 or xbox one they use older and slower hardware but can play games smoothly why? Optimization. Have u manage to use all of you ram? I bet u only use 80%of it maybe less.
I have always been a fan of google products and would have bought the pixel 2 xl if it would have released before the note8. But all praises aside having soo much trouble with screen and software is a big let down even rit nw. Shelling out nearly 1000 bucks for piece of gadgetry and ultimately having numerous defects from day 1 after you buy the fone is not a plus side. Google should have done its QA properly. Recent Samsung products undergo alot of QA before they are released worldwide(#note7disaster). These approches can atleast reduce the defects the customer has to face. I have personally owned a nexus 5, although it was a very gud device and it had the 1st chance to recieve google's latest software updates, it was also the phone wich used to recieve all the software bugs 1st. At present, as a smartphone user i would rather prefer to use a fone thats bug-free or hassle-free over a fone thats over the news every day for its problems. #note8user
It's a good phone but: No wireless charging No face or iris recognition It's ugly (lets be honest) It's not the fastest Android and it's not faster than the iPhone X either. The Galaxy Note 8, One Plus 5T and the IPhone X are better options, Google needs to do better on 2018 with the Pixel 3. Last chance.
Jorge Alejandro No android is faster than the Pixel 2 but you tried it. Also, Iris scanner/face ID is literally the least reliable unlocking method lmao. The finger print in the PROPER SPOT is quicker. Also, you cant use your phone while charging wirelessly which is useless.
Honestly This Year Has Been A "You'll Get Used To It" Type Year For Flagship Devices. Apple, Samsung & The Pixel Line Ups. Hopefully Next Year They Get Their Affairs In Order And Release Phones That Actually Give They Wow Factor ! I'm A Apple Owner But I Appreciate All Types Of Phones
LG v30 is my fav now, cause of the dac mainly, but i want a fast ui experience... is LG then a no go? Or isnt it far behind Pixel. What other phone would you recommend and why?
Watching this video on my Google pixel XL 1 . I don't see a reason to upgrade yet . The pixel XL 1 is just delightful to have . Camera , battery, stock Android. Maybe I'm one of the few , but I really like the looks and aesthetics as well. ;)
Mel Zemourit His name is in Spanish, for me that's normal. As a native Spanish speaker is normal to give the "R" a stronger sound than English Speakers
Almost sold on the pixel 2xl after the latest update, can anyone attest to how much closer the new update makes the screen of pixel 2xl comparatively to X or S8? Also the blue shift isn’t a big issue for me as much as the supposedly screen burn in? What does that mean and what are your thoughts on that?
I notice a white haze creeping from the bottom to the top on certain wallpapers on the pixel. It's non existent on dark wallpapers but on the live coastline wallpaper it's kind of bothersome. Is it part of the update to prevent screen burn in ? Any pixel 2 owners bothered by this?
My 2XL is no longer showing my notifications when I set them with the Google assistance or setting them manually on the calendar. It all of a sudden stopped as it worked fine before I’ve checked all the settings nothing I can find ,please help !!!
Hey I know this is a late post, received the Google pixel 2xl second hand, it runs perfect and the screen is fine. However, the audio seems to be out of touch. I can't play any music or anything. No sound. Sound comes out for like 2 seconds and then goes inaudible and quiet. Very tiny sound from the top speaker but none from the bottom. Idk what to do. I've researched and can't find a solution. Maybe its a hardware issue? Hope I can get a reply. Thank you.
You don't use the feature Google assistant doesn't mean that the others don't use. Accessing the Google Assistant by squeezing make it very convenient and quick.
If the burning goes away after a few minutes then it’s not burn in, it’s called ghosting.
I feel ghosting when I pee.
Hal I feel ghosting when I take a huge dump.
Incorrect it's image retention not ghosting as you put it. Burn in is permanent retention of an image on a display. Ghosting refers to trails behind pixels that can not transition fast quickly enough.
As a 6p owner I'm happy for you pixel users getting your problems fixed.
Josh Lopez same mines have gotten lucky a few times & lasted to 33%. Only because it was on the charger
I miss my Nexus 6P.
Crap battery but damn it was a good phone

Reading this on my 6P! I love this device. I was worried about the battery life but I easily get a full day, unless I'm watching RUclips videos all day. Bought it used too.
Cameron Davidson you're very lucky. Mines is the complete opposite. Barely lasts an hour
I happy they addressed many of the issues and increased their warranty, I hope they could release the next Pixel generation without so many issues next time :)
Anton Makov increased in the u.s everywhere else gets standard 2 year warranty anyway
Issues were overblown.
still an issue nonetheless

GamingDude800 It's not. Mine is completely gone 2 weeks after getting it.
susinanth potri so you are stupid enough to pay all that.money for a phone????
Kenny S you are stupid enough to post that reply knowing that it's none of your business.
GamingDude800 - And it's really not. :)
Same here
it is an amazing phone! i love it so much! havent even looked at my s8 since picking this up! checks all the boxes IMO
Brianna Marie how r u
*Tries to plug in her 300 dollar headphones* Uuuuhm... Nope. Not all the boxes.
Brianna Marie dumb ass
watch out for crazy youtube trolls attacking you because you like your phone.
Krystal you get a dongle with the device ahah aha it's stupid that it doesn't have a headphone jack I know but at least you can use the dongle ;)
4:56 graphic intensive games is not a problem..goes on to play contra..
Sam tyler 😂😂😂😂😂😂 I thought exactly the same thing. Either he's a fan boy or this is a sponsored review.

Youness Hanin I was talking about the gaming performance. And it's only screen retention btw
Immanuel Kant Gaming wise they should all have the same performance. Maybe better ram management on the Note 8 and 5T thnx to their bigger ram
I had Nexus 6 & I was thinking before I got my 2XL that it wont make much difference, just stock android. But man....Pixel is whole another level!
Nick Makadia ooo really I'm still using my Nexus 6, even typing right now. And wondering if I should get his phone
its an amazing phone, if u hv money then go for it or wait for pixel 3. I hv 2 problems with it tho. no headphone jack & its display feels plastic compare to N6's display, it feels like glass. not this one.
I use the squeeze function more than saying ok Google
valdeze me too, I've been using it so much for reminders and questions about the weather 😁
I also use it for home control
Same
Haven't had a issue with mine. Absolutely love it. Great camera great battery life great Android experience.
Pixel 2 Xl owner... Battery life is excellent. Haven't charged the phone for 1 day and 4 hours and I still have 40% left
Tobo, I still get well over a day on my Pixel 2 XL. You might want to see if there is an app that's draining your phone and if you've already gone that route, see about getting it replaced.

That's a great deal, and a beautiful phone. But I love my pixel 2. Enjoy your device
Sorry but I've held the U11 and the LG G6 blows it away. It doesn't even compare to the Pixel 2 XL.
This is a very unpopular opinion.. I actually love the blob emojis Google had awhile back.
Jaime Gomez I miss them. Worst part of 8.0 imo
Just bought the Google pixel 2 XL yesterday
Me too
@@blackbonestudio6189 It’s a great phone the camera is amazing only had it a year though found the size too big especially when working out. Had the iPhone XS the past 2 years now.
Great video. I do have a question about that slow down you mentioned. What exactly caused it to slow down?
+Ace Lucero Not sure. Maybe it was updating apps or something. Went away in about 30 seconds after using it. ^JR
Hi may river huh?
Lmao
Ricey Plays lol
lma0.
Perfect!
Pinchy Prince took me a minute LMAO 😂
In my humble opinion some of the phones that truly justify their prices this year are the LG V30 and Galaxy S8 and S8+
Some could argue the Note 8 does that too, I even ended up buying one. Stock android? Meh, I'd rather get the features added by OEMs, even Google itself adopts them. Like split screen multitasking for example.
+Safina Yeah I have to agree. As I mentioned, the price doesn’t come cheap ^JR
But the optimization tho
but then you have to deal wit here crud software
Garbage software with shit updates? When the pixel will be usable after 3-4 years? That’s a win to me!
Leo exactly.... ultimately that's where the Pixel will justify it's pricetag.
But does it have a headphone jack?
I'm glad it's gone, it always got in my way
valdeze how does a headphone jack get in the way?
Yes, a USB-C headphone jack.
Anthony Turner me too
Spyder it doesn't.
You notice burn in but then claim all problems are fixed. WTF.
Shah Auckburaully paid advertisement basically... 1 month burnin...imagine what it will look like in a year
+Shah Auckburaully do some homework on how every company avoids this effect through software ^JR
Robert Anderson it's annoying when they're paid by Google for this garbage
LG G5 uses painted metal, reviewers call it cheap.
Pixel 2 uses painted metal, reviewers call it nice and grippy.
And can anyone tell me how much Google is paying and/or blackmailing reviewers to say their camera is the absolute best ?? From what I've seen, pictures in good light and low light are not that different from the Note8 or Mate10,,, and the portrait mode is all over the place (see 5:48, 5:57, 6:00), not even close to the excellent Mate10 portraits.
Stopped right after hearing: "And yees, I do notice a small screen burn in...". Nope, bye.
too much negetivity , they scan for every fault in android
If it goes away after a while, it's called image retention. I have no idea why he used the term "burn in"...
For the money they charge you, it better come close to flawless. Don't care about the brand. If it's shit, no thanks. I am not a fanboy of any brand. Give me something good or I move to another company. The compromises I am willing to make will never include faulty hardware.
SJ yeah screenburn in in 3 months is just wrong
SJ ok, bye.
Really good review, thanks Pocketnow for the informative and useful review.Just got my Pixel 2 XL Panda.I love it !!
Who ever says we don't need anymore RAM or storage are the cancer for making companies give us shitty phone specs, and Android needs more not less.
ELEXCEER 6GB for android is must...I personally feel my iphone need more than 3GB....🤣🤣🤣
Henry N. 4GB is not able to maintain apps in ram during multitasking....
Henry N. Enjoy your 4GB ram...2015 specs for android...
Hector G. Agreed...if u r charging more than nexus...than we want more than nexus...
What do u multi task between Witcher 3 and photoshop?
What version of contra are u playing at 04:55
Damn, your son looks like an exact copy of yours 👍👍
what's the game at 4:56? i used to play that on ninentdo in the 90's
Every phone should have front facing speakers, yet the phone isn’t as loud as the iPhone X or the Razer phone...🤔🤫
Yea lol the Razer Phone is by far the best though, but yea it's funny that the iPhone X is louder
Loudness doesn't mean good quality. The Pixels have a fuller sound then the iPhone, which is nice and it gets plenty loud at full volume. Plus it still sounds good and is not as shrill as the iPhone.
Esti Robertson The iPhone X is most certainly not shrill, but you’re entitled to your opinion. 🙄
Calvin Green That's factual, since some units could be bad compared to others.
The Razer Phone is in a class of its own ^JR
i never had a problem with saturation, but the blue shift no matter how much you say is normal and visible on other phones, it's definitely a lot more visible on the pixel xl 2. I honestly don't notice it on the s8.
I love how people shits on iphone when they decided to remove the headphone jack last year, no wireless charge. "Oh no, all my fancy headphone is useless now, can't use headphone while charging, bluetooth headphone doesn't sound as good as traditional 3.5 mm audio jack headphone, its 2016/17, wireless charging is a thing now, etc etc" - and when google do those things in late 2017, people were like "yeah, lack of audio jack isn't something new, wireless charge is not THAT fast compared to usual plug in charge, pixel got no wireless charge? i can live with that".
nizam rashid clearly you don't read enough comments, any phone without a headphone jack will get loads of hate not just your precious iphone.
n e i'm using lenovo k3 note btw.
nizam rashid then what makes you think Google doesn't get hate
n e i'm not saying google doesn't get hate.
Why only Verizon???
Google would sell more phones if it was available on TMobile and all other carriers
Romeo Calmo Your can Buy from Google and using Any carrie
ahanna crisham Yep, my Nexus 6P was bought from Google unlocked and I use AT&T.
I have thought about this for a long time and I think making it available only through Google or Verizon keeps the relative value of the phone high. Compare it to the LG v30 which is widely available and you can buy them off of swappa or eBay for $500~
Great review! Exactly how I feel about this phone! Not super negative like other RUclips reviewers
Have you noticed that speaker phone only plays out one speaker...?
Deshawn Saunders I mean for music it uses both... So why not phone calls too..? Weird. Maybe it's so it doesn't interfere with the mic since the mic hole is at the top?
GamingDude800
lol Yuuuup.
Have a Nexus 6p and was lucky enough to get the burnin replaced just before warranty ended. No more cheap screens. Was planning on getting pixel 2 but too many issues. Going for the note 8
Watching on my Pixel 2 now 👍. Love this phone.
madfacecharlie 3 How's your experience been so far?
Anthony Turner L Love the phone. Performance is butter smooth. The camera is great. I haven't had any of the issues that have been reported on the 2 XL. Just download the developer preview for 8.0.1 so far no issues & haven't had those reboot issues either. The best experience I have had using Android. Battery performance has been good for me as well. I get about 5 hours screen on time & that works for me. The front facing speakers are dope, great sound. Before this phone I had the Honor 8. 👍
is it as great as it looks?
Ivan Gonzalez yes in my opinion.
What's name of he dish @ 5:14? Thanks
Sorry but I don't think it's a great looking phone....I know looks is subjective..but for me the Samsung galaxy note 8 is the best looking device of 2017.
Right, looks are subjective. I like it, and that's what I said.. I didn't say you should like it too ^JR
No.
The S8 is a much better looking device but, the HTC U+ and iPhone X are my personal favourites.
The Note 8? It looks like a brick.
i like pixel 2 xl the most, its more of my style,i like its two tone matt black with the dual speaker set up over the glossy note 8 n iphone x
The LG V30 is beautiful as well.
ki flex I agree with the fact that Samsung galaxy note 8 is a very good looking phone but the pixel is still a great phone
Kudos for mentioning call quality and speakerphone. Many reviewers don't. Some of us still use our smartphones for phone calls too!
Can't fix lack of headphone jack with software.
Just got the XL and to me the display is beautiful I don't see the blue shift everyone is talking about. Very happy with the phone.
Google should have never gave the contract to LG to make the pixels! Smh😑
I really like the comment about the camera when you said the software just takes care of it. It's a little weird coming from phones with pro modes, but you can't argue with the results. Great video Jaime!
+Jake Wolford thanks! ^JR
Pixel 2 XL or LG V 30?
iHanxD Gaming pixel life
Glad to see Jaime's dedication to quality and usefulness in his reviews as opposed to rushing to the click-race. Great review.
+Nate Ford Thanks man, that’s the idea ^JR
Wait for Pixel 3. Killer phone.
Abdulai Bah Should be significantly better, but I won't get my hopes up too high.
Abdulai Bah Hopefully not suicidal like this one
Abdulai Bah That's what they said about THIS phone!
Nah pixel 4 will kill pixel 3 for sure
Abdulai Bah looking forward to the Note 9 but will most definitely keep my eye on the new Pixel.
I think it is great for this to have happened to Google. It shows us how the industry is moving from just being a good manufacturer to a great after sales service support company. All these issues and google is doing a great job to push patches and after sales support. Great work Google.
that Jery pic tho LOL
Haha, he asked me no to publish it until after that embargo ^JR
i know that but i just use to call him Jery hahaha
Question: What's the difference in camera between the stanard Pixel 2 and the XL? I really want this phone for the camera, but the XL seems a bit out of my price range at the moment. Can someone explain the difference plz?
The screen issues are inexcusable. Not buying.
Raghavendra Ravi the screen issue is massively overblown but hey keep reading and watching ppl trying to make a quick buck.
Erislandy Valdez I get that. I don't care about the blue hue or unsaturated colours (I love both LCD and LED displays) but, burn-ins at such short period of time is, like I said, inexcusable.
Dont go for pixel...get note 8 or v30...iphone X...
Himanshu Chamoli yes get the lag 8
HTC U11+
Watching this on my pixel 2XL. So far I love it.
100% love my pixel
OLED screens have Blue Shift Yes that's true. But the shift in the XL happens even if the phone is slightly off axis but other phones show the blue shift only if they are extremely off axis.
Im using the 2 XL as my daily driver and I no complaints...period. KMA with the blue shift crap. This phone is perfect from every angle
If Apple has that many bugs and issues, he would have raped the Apple...
i dont like his reviews, i prefer juan
Manish Balam Google fanboy
Honestly, a 2XL with beefed up display QC is what I would like to use. There's a lot of stuff to like minus no jack.
the headphone jack issue isn't fixed
Jaime, I'm assuming you got a later batch phone, have you noticed any issues with blacks smearing or graininess on low light? I use my phone in the dark a lot and that would be a potential killer for me.
+Neon_Lights12 no issues here ^JR
Pocketnow good to hear, thanks for responding!
returning my pixel 2xl the screen is just plain awful don't sugar coat it guys, if I'm spending a thousand dollars on a phone I'm not gonna live with that screen
Well it's not sugarcoating. What I will tell you is that our phone wasn't first batch. It actually arrived about two weeks late. Maybe the newer units have less issues. ^JR
I don't have a screen issue either it's awesome. Must of been the first batch of phones
Pocketnow they're all horrible. It's like 3rd generation oled
steve b nah I have a November batch .. still shit. Phone flashes when you go to lock it or unlock.. blue tint and a small angle, screen burnin and a few dead pixels
Got my phone 2 weeks ago... I don't have any issues... Pulled it out of the box, update it, set the display to saturated mode.
Hey how about throwing in a different SIM card to see how it works with other carriers. I'm debating whether to buy the unlocked from the google store or just going to Best Buy and buying the Verizon model and switching it with my T mobile SIM card.
LOL, you are still the biggest Google fanboy but that's okay.
venom5809 Thats okay because you are not an apple fanboy?
Lol 😂
Ibrahim Ahmed I have iPhones and I have Galaxies and other android phones. I have a Mac, MacBook and 3 PCs also and a few Toshiba laptops so you can figure out now what I am instead of your idiotic comment that had no basis since I never mentioned Apple in my original comment. Hell I just bought a Google Home today.
venom5809 But if you have 3 PC's, then why do you have a Mac!????!!!????????? Same goes for the macbooks
Immanuel Kant because he can? Or, his family prefers macs? Or maybe he just prefers Macs and he uses his PCs as home servers? There’s a plethora of reasons that one would have multiple PCs and Macs.
Will you guys do a camera review after the 8.1 update goes live so we can see the difference in their visual cores they added?
Screen burn in is a deal breaker
Gilberto Especially almost straight out of the box...😂
Seriously not noticeable, and this is after almost a month of use ^JR
Pocketnow but if just after a month of use you're saying that there's barely noticeable screen burn in, then just imagine what will happen in the next 2 years of me using the phone. 😣
Pocketnow a month? Should only show signs after 12 months or more. For 1500 screen burnin should be noticeable at all. Google haven't fixed shit. My phone has burnin and it came with the new update.
A reviewer saying it's barely noticeable after a month is hilarious... You do realise it's only going to get worse? How much did Google pay them?
Waiting for Pixel 3. With the stuff from HTC Google acquired - I think they can make a much better phone next year - although this one is great.
Pathetic how this guy is always trying to defend this phone, he should just admit that the iPhone X, Note8 and even the V30 are far better options than this pixel
+Daniel Trejo I have videos on them as well, so stop being pathetic about finding reasons to complain ^JR
Daniel Trejo chill my dude, it's still a good phone.
GamingDude800 but unfortunately not enough to stop you commenting on it though it would seem... Hey oh
GamingDude800 also I'm pretty sure they fixed that problem too.
I'll keep my iPhone X, thanks!
Did you buy it direct from Google? There's a 14 day grace period for returns.
iphone X is best...2017
Admit it Google is good with software but not with hardware
Android user can better go for
Note 8,v30,5T....
Tech4 Life v30 overrated. Most likely switching to Pixel 2
Pixel 2 xl or Iphone x? Which one to choose? And why? Wanna buy the Airpods
^JR
No it doesn't need more RAM. Even the Pixel's from last year were and are super smooth.
Ever heard of software optimization? Google is the king of software.
And by the way, boycott those companies for using 6gb ram. Big reason for the constant price increase in ram prices....
I noticed your battery estimate was over a day how did you manage that? My phone always estimates about 14 hours of battery life after a full charge.
Watching this on my iPhone X
#note8user
I personally think it's a ugly phone, I prefer the look of the Samsung note 8 or the LG v30 ...
RockNez who cares if it's ugly. Cases cover the phones
I just ordered mine & i'm confident i'll be happy being a N6P owner
It's a good phone but:
No wireless charging
No face or iris recognition
It's ugly (lets be honest)
It's not the fastest Android and it's not faster than the iPhone X either.
And the 5t camera is garbage
Gustavo Villar but I can charge my phone while using the headphone jack
ELEXCEER use Bluetooth headphones
It does have face unlock. It's built into Android.
So which would you pick 2 xl or note 8 or htc u11 plus. I have the note 5.
F Google. That is all.
fgoogle?
Ironically you're likely using services by them all the time...
Dude Lmao everything is use is almost Google lol I love them
What?
Honestly This Year Has Been A "You'll Get Used To It" Type Year For Flagship Devices. Apple, Samsung & The Pixel Line Ups. Hopefully Next Year They Get Their Affairs In Order And Release Phones That Actually Give They Wow Factor ! I'm A Apple Owner But I Appreciate All Types Of Phones
STILL AN OVERPRICED DUMPSTER FIRE PHONE
lvlaple4Ever Like the iPhone X? 🤔
Jaime Valladares Nah, possibly like the S8/S8+ in the initial months of its release. Too difficult to call, huh? 🤨🙄🤔
LG v30 is my fav now, cause of the dac mainly, but i want a fast ui experience... is LG then a no go? Or isnt it far behind Pixel. What other phone would you recommend and why?
Bias reviews
LoL.. right. Biased comment then ;-) ^JR
Pocketnow LOL
Watching this video on my Google pixel XL 1 . I don't see a reason to upgrade yet . The pixel XL 1 is just delightful to have . Camera , battery, stock Android. Maybe I'm one of the few , but I really like the looks and aesthetics as well. ;)
I despise the way this guy says his name!😠
Mel Zemourit His name is in Spanish, for me that's normal. As a native Spanish speaker is normal to give the "R" a stronger sound than English Speakers
Marcus Maldonado I'm not American.
Jaime excellente video. just got mine today
👍Good honest reviews. 😘Thank you again.
Hi Jaime..! do you know if this phone is gonna be released in Mexico?
Thank you.
Watching on my 2XL 🔥
You don't use the feature Google assistant doesn't mean that the others don't use. Accessing the Google Assistant by squeezing make it very convenient and quick.
I have an iPad Mini 1 with a non-retina display, LCD IPS panel, gets horrible burn in.
