I have to question the notion that "Apple did not even know of this flaw." It is entirely possible some silent bugs are left unpatched for "lawful" intercept capabilities. Based on their recent behavior, I just don't give too much benefit... News example: One high ranking Apple employee left the company to start an iPhone cracking company... Question is: did he just happen to discover new vulnerabilities after leaving? plant them while inside? or hold on to discoveries? I don't know the answer to this. Something to think about.
