I really like the dynamic between republics and monarchies in this game. Combat compleately depends on the skill of the general, so you let the best one command. Soldiers also grow loyal to their generals and generals with loyal soldiers won´t give up command. If the general gets the become ruler-ambition in a monarchy, he will invariably start a civil war. In a republic, he will eventually be elected national leader and earn a stats increase. On the other hand, if you play as a republic, the populists are going to ruin your sanity and your hairstyle. I once played as Crete and the rabble decided to my economic idea to the military "Horse Lords". I didn´t even own a single cavalry regiment.

YASH, but Imperator's soundtract is terrible. Paradox should've kept on Waldetoft. Or got Waldetoft to work with Levan Iordanishvili to compose together.
Also if you're interested in learning more about the Hellenistic period (Alexander's age of Greece to Octavian's defeat of Marc Antony and Cleopatra that marks the end of the Roman Republic), then you should also check out the Hellenistic Age Podcast. They're on spotify and RUclips, highly recommended
@@greatestever3479 Thanks! I didn't know of that one. I'm currently listening to the History of the 20th Century Podcast, which may take me a year or more to finish (which means reaching the latest episodes). I'll add that one to the long list of podcasts I want to listen to.
A good Mix of Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis IV Would create a solid game ROME II ...plus the amazing work of you guys there in the paradox tower! Just saying it would be great... but if you want to come and reveal a expansion or sequel to Victoria..... we wouldn't mind it as well... XD! Thanks for this Games Paradox! You fill ours days with some more provinces to take, and some more war to wage!
Generalolz69 Ck2 didn't, EU4 didn't, HoI4 probably wont, while on the other hand Empire and Shogun have shown what the CA turned into. If Paradox made a sequal to this, it couldn't be anything less then extraordinary.
2:52 im out here at 10:06pm have like 54 things due tmrw man that part of the song wtf that part is so good, i feel intranced, incapsulated in that momment of time.. man... wtf...
We should be able to play this soundtrack if we already purchase Europa Universalis: Rome when we play any other Paradox titles that are related to Rome such as Crusader Kings III (When playing as Byzantine Empire) and Imperator Rome. This music is just so good for that kind of game.
make the sequel to this make it go to the darkages add a save converter for it to ck2 and we can have a game from ancient times to the death of napoleon
I'm waiting patiently for your upcoming game Imperator: Rome, and by Jupiters mercy this game better be good, The Roman Republic deserves a good game and i'm sure you can do it. Also on a lighter note i must say, CARTHAGO DELENDA EST.
What would be really cool is if they did so that there is international politics like in eu4 as well as character politics like in ck2. Governors should have more freedom letting them build their own armies and start their own wars (but the country they attacked would only be at war with them). You should be able to customize regions like how you can customize sectors in stellaris. The Senate should be more dynamic by being able to bypass laws with a majority vote like being able to re-elect a leader immediately or by electing them for life. It would be cool to see a double consul system and a veto mechanic.

I wanted to say that at first, but they never took it from me...

IMPERATOR ROME!!
My fellow commenters, we have acquired a valid Casus Belli. Let us march upon Stockholm to secure our rightful game, for Glory!

Everyone coming back now that Imperator is announced
YASH, but Imperator's soundtract is terrible. Paradox should've kept on Waldetoft. Or got Waldetoft to work with Levan Iordanishvili to compose together.
Four years later, and this OST can't be beat by the one for Imperator.
For anybody interested on the period, The History of Rome Podcast gives an excellent view of the Empire, from its formation to its fall.

Sequel to Rome would be more than appreciated.
We still want Rome 2 ;)
Isn't Imperator kind of it?
@@Tata-ps4gy Yeah this didn't age well lmao. Rome: Total War remaster is coming next month too (according to release on Steam)
@@sebking7902 lmao I feel you
Welcome IMPERATOR Rome
A very good soundtrack. I see no reason that it could not be refined and included in Rome 2.
Listening to this soundtrack I feel like the instruments are too sophisticated for the time period. I would prefer a simpler soundtrack for ancients.
@@flaviusbelisarius3240 In That Period Instruments Weren't That Bad We're In Classical Era Not Ancient
I think this is the best and immersive OST Paradox Dev Studio has, maybe excluding HOI3.
HOI3 was good but I'm pretty sure most of those were just rehashed songs of the era.

RabMaksim I know, I trust paradox, but I did that just a warning joke
RabMaksim Shogun 2 is amazing, what are you talking about?
My favorites are Legions of Rome, Rome is the light, Vae victis, Elysiam Fields, Imperator and victorious - rome finale.
ROME 2! ROME 2! ROME 2! ROME 2! ROME 2! ROME 2! ROME 2!
Imperator: Rome hype train!
Wasn't really into Rome, but after where the game went with EU IV, I'd be more than ready for a Rome 2 around 2020...
There's Imperator coming you know
Elysian Fields even sounds a bit like CK2's music.
Andreas Waldetoft is Hans Zimmer tier!
and the rest sounds like majesty 2
need rome 2!
This was so epic and well done. It's just like in the TV series "Rome" from HBO. Say what you want, but there is some quality music in pdx games
you are hell rightt bro, jus look at the eu 4 music, they are all great
Beautifull.

Zeus Vult? Iovem/Iupater? Res Republica? It is Res Publica; )

The game crash constantly in my pc, but boy, the music is good
Works great with CK 3
Music is a lot better than that of Imperator: Rome. Apparently there is only one Waldetoft.
Agreed
Compré el videjuego en Steam, y ahora no me abre en windows 10, a propósito excelente banda sonora
Paradox, why did you abandon the game?
Rome has yet again been betrayed
Wait there was an EU game during Rome :|
Honestly, this OST is better than the new Imperator sound track. Sorry. Not. Sorry.
If you make a rome 2 you should play as families instead of a country.
+Mr. GoldenGlasses no thatd be a crusader kings type game. I actually like that idea a ck rome would be really fun
