Sony PlayStation Vita is the hottest console in 2021. With game prices skyrocketing even higher than PS3 and Wii games. There are so many amazing things about Sony's latest handheld console, despite the fact that it didn't sell all that well. Those reasons mixed in with the fact that this might be the last Playstation handheld system, meaning we will probably never see a PSP 2 or PS Vita 2, means that collectors are aggressively buying games for the console. Making it an extremely hot and potentially expensive console in the future.

It's always nice to see someone mention the Disgaea series. Fantastic guide! This should give new collectors a good step in the right direction.

Great video! I have been slowly filling out my collection since early last year and now some of these are going for more than the actual system itself. Good luck finding any of the JRPGs for under $100. I am afraid the days of finding many Vita games for less than $50+ are quickly fading. Pretty much the only games you can get now for under $20 are the Lego games, and even those are starting to go up. I'm slightly ashamed to admit I hadn't heard of Qcma before now. That's a brilliant bit of info. Well worth the Sub. Thanks!

Same here literally the past 2 months alone ive spent and an ungodly amount on vita games both physical and digital...atleast $800 digital and around $1300+ on physicals...the prices are actually insane these days for games i was going to buy 2 years ago for around $50-$60 are now $100-$250 it actually blows my mind👀👀👀
It is madness! I've not spent too much on digital, although I am probably going to get Ar Nosurge. Physical though I'm about the same. I'd say about £1800 in the past month. I've managed to find some pretty decent deals, but even decent deals on Vita are extortionate 😅

@@ChronikSpartan right, now valve is selling the steam decks with pre set memory systems, via nvme sticks. So you don’t have to go out and buy memory with the console. And you can still upgrade the memory

for new vita buyers who dont care about a physical game collection, just mod it. its easy, and all u need is an internet connection and a sdcard with sd2vita adapter and u can get any vita game for free. a USB connection to you ps will get u even more, like psp, ps1, snes, gba, genesis and all sorts

Great video Stav--really fantastic information here covering the gamut of trying to get into Vita collecting. I'd often heard the memory card debacle was the largest issue, even since day one, that never got any better. We currently literally only own one Vita game...sadly it's not THE one game we absolutely want to make sure we get to play someday--Uncharted: Golden Abyss. But we do have the Playstation TV. We snagged one when, in our area, they were selling for about $20 which is crazy to think about now.
I didn't know about so many collections on it, like the R&C or GoW--such heavy hitters and having them on the go would've been awesome.
I knew the system had an impressive lineup of RPGs though--those and Limited Run Games really lended longevity to the handheld. That SH game looks like a lot of fun though--shame it's ONLY on the Vita though!
100% agree that it will be a HUGE collector's item--the system and library will be one of those lofty aspirations such as the Neo-Geo.
Great Video! Unfortunately the Danganronpa games have skyrocketed in price (at least here in NA) ever since they were delisted digitally. It's a real shame because the Vita is the best way to play them in my opinion.
They're getting pricey here in the UK too. I've managed to snag all apart from V3 for a decent price but it's been tough. If I'm not mistaken though I think they're still on the UK digital store, which might explain the slightly lower physical price compared to you guys.

@@ChronikSpartan its great I wish I saw this before I paid 100 bucks for a 32gb backup card from Japan. But happy that we can save our games on the PC esp if the Sony servers die which is def coming. I've lost a lot of digital games on ps3

@@ChronikSpartan Yeah I don't really buy any online vita wise right now. All of them have been found at shops etc. I'd say the favorites have been Uncharted Golden Abyss , Trails of Cold Steel , and Persona 4 Golden. I have like 2 playthroughs of Persona 4 Golden and like 200+ hours.

500 games limit? That is a seriously big number. The one thing I took away is that the16gb card I have in each of my two vitas is well and truly enough!
It is big, but don't forget it's games and apps. Also some of those indie games can be pretty small in memory so could probably easily get up to 500 if you were a hardcore digital collector.
16 gb is definitely plenty in my opinion 😉👍
For me the Vita is way better than the Nintendo switch, love it, awesome graphics, can run it with SD converter, easy to travel with, best handle held you can get

Jack and dexter was my favorite game on ps vita. I losed my vita since 2014. my mom just found it for me today. it still looks brand new. the vita remains my favorite hand held console. i played soo much fun games and music on it

I just bought a mint 1003 vita for £25 I got a bargain but it had no charger! I’m waiting to find out if the lady who sold it to me can find it then I’ll be so happy, I’m using a cheap vita usb cable and it works well but I’d prefer the proper charger. Other than that it’s perfect and I’ve modded it so I can play the vita ports and other homebrew. Even in 2022 the vita holds up so well I was blown away by the graphics and I own a PS5 so that’s saying something!

3 Vitas! Nice. I I've not had a lot of time with the original Vita but the slim has really nice smooth fit in your hand and the back panel feels like a better size to not accidentally hit it. Also being lighter makes it easier for longer play sessions.
If you haven't got it already, get a Physical version of Shovel Knight. Guaranteed its value in time will increase.....

I got mine (gen 1) for $80 and think its way more premium in its looks and feel. The gen 2 looks more plasticky and generic. The gen 1 has some serious unique design choices which gives it more character.
I'm definitely going to have to try to grab a gen 1. I know what you mean about it feeling more premium. I also want a luminous yellow gen 2 so torn as to which I should gey first 🤔

I have had a vita and PSTV since they were still new. I only have 1 physical game and the rest are digital

Honestly, I felt the same, but once I started collecting it wasn't that bad. The thing about Vita collecting is most games hold a decent value, but only a few are ridiculously priced.

The vita was way ahead of its time. I can’t believe developers didn’t get behind it.
I know, such a missed opportunity. Sony definitely needed to put more effort in after the first round of first party games. If Sony didn't care then that showed Triple A studios it wasn't worth the risk. Such a shame...
I can´t afford the next OLED Switch so i bought the Vita OLED version. It´s my first Vita, i still need a SD2Vita adapter and a 128gb sd card to put on it. Looking forward to play my favourite PS1 games from my Childhood and other hits in portable mode.
I think that's a great idea. Personally there are more games available to the Vita that I'm interested than the Switch. And although Vita collecting can be quite expensive, I find Switch collecting even worse! Enjoy your new toy mate ;)

9:43 the problem with uninstalling Vita games and using 4gb to 16gb memory cards is the patches. Once Sony fully pulls the plug on Vita you will be stuck with broken games that required patches that will no longer be available to download. Is better to have a 32gb and up plus two Vita systems. Having Sony hindering the ability to redownload patches in the future is not a gamble you want to take.
Good point mate, thanks for highlighting it. I've not come across many games that needed patches to work so it's not something I've considered.

Yeah, the LCD can go way dimmer than the OLED. Bonus point if you're a night time gamer.

Yeah it works perfectly with digital games as well. I think a lot of people fall under the category of digital ownership when it comes to the Vita due to the average price of games

My advice for people buying a Vita (1000 series)? Buy the smallest Vita memory card you can, hack that thing, and use a SD2VITA memory card. Even if you don’t want to do anything else with homebrew, that alone is a reason to hack it.
Definitely a good idea. I would do this also if I had a 2nd Vita console.

when the vita was dying my walmart was selling the memory cards for cheap. think the 16gb was like 20$ cdn and 8bg was like 7$. i forget but think it was more then 50% off. also picked up a psvita tv for like 80

Thanks bro! The Vita store is remaining open for now but they're not adding any games as far as I know. So I imagine it won't be long before they do shut it down.
I would definitely mod one if I had a 2nd one. I love always having a completely stock one though which is why I haven't so far.
What about the SD2Vita memory card adapter?
It's good and worth mentioning, but it doesn't let you play physical games at the same time as using it.
Are they resuming service to the vita? Coz I bought mine in 2016 and if I can play KH in that model, might reconsider not buying the OLED.
Unfortunately Sony have wiped their hands of the Vita. The only support it get's is from third parties and the community.

You could still download games on the Go…..you just need to transfer the game installs from your ps3 to the Go.
A Sandisk or Sammy 512gb sd-Card is the best way to go...🤓 with either Fat / Slim PsVita model...Also... do you have KILLER INSTINCT...using the Snes9xVITA emulator...🤓

I'd personally go for the Slim. 1gb on board memory, nicer to hold and longer battery life. Its really only the screen on the OLED that wins. And even then the Slim still has a stunning screen!

Then switched back to my 2000 because it's much more comfortable

13:47 haha what are you smoking bro? Ridge Racer on the Vita was a waste of time. The game didn't even had a career mode, few tracks and cars and shit load of DLC for an incomplete game. Plus Boderlands on Vita had terrible frame rates even after the patch.
Haha, while I admit content wise Ridge Racer Vita is lacking, you can't deny that the race mechanics are graphics are stunning. And for the price of living these days compared to other Vita games I think it's a great pickup.

Saying a few cons about some of those games would make you sound more genuine.
It would only be disingenuous as I genuinely feel the way I do. I feel people are too focused on the negative when talking about stuff on RUclips in an attempt to come across falsely genuine. That's my take anyway 👍

Pretty much all Vitas these days are going to be second hand. Unless you can find stores with left over stock. If you want the confidence of a store purchase you should check out high street retro gaming stores. In the UK we have Cex. If there are any issues with their products you can return them, even though they are second hand.
