What marie antoinette and count hans axel fersen had was true love and were lovers till the very end and beyond, their story was one of the greatest love stories both romantic as tragic, fersen was a heartrob casanova adventurer and marie was a foreign princess lonely and feeling like a outsider in the court of francés and trapped in a arranged marriage with someone she barely knows for the sake of duty, until they met at the age of 17 in a maskball and their love story began when they were 21 or 22 years old but were separated by the revolution
What is the "right" accent when you are portraying people who are not speaking English? Why draw the line at speaking English but not pronouncing it like native English speakers? Plenty of great movies and radio dramas that take place in France use American/English accents.
It is 'the mood' they portrayed are more important to see at. We can just use imagination on how it intercepted within Français. You'd get what I mean...I think. I think the actor/actress did tremendous job on bringing each characters onto their own characterization.... It looks so real
True i think it's more immersive historic fiction that way, but i think this was meant to be more like cosplay? than larping?, like it's really extravagant and reminiscent not really accurate

Marie Antoinette bathed three times a day and was constantly wearing perfume, so.

Idk it feel so weird hearing American accents from them instead portraying the characters with the right accent to put in it.
For that you'd have to travel to 18th Century France. Not even modern French people speak like Ancien Régime people anymore lol

No. It's an interpretation by the director Sofia Coppola, she's trying to make it seem more relevant to a modern audience, it's a stylistic choice.
