Another Aussie here following along... Black/red interior/ red stripe here too...especially if its as straight as you say it will... careful wheel selection will make this car stand above the rest...I might be slightly biased...I have a black 68 Fastback Barracuda here...keep up the good work Sir

I second that, black with a red stripe is by far the best look for these 2nd gens in my opinion. It just fits the car so well.
Its better to see the old classics get 'Frankensteined' like you have done, rather than just left to rot coz theyre too far gone. You havent hidden the fact that it has had a lot of metal replaced, so good luck to you. Hello from Australia.

The car that brought me to your channel while you was still 30 minutes away in Ohio has returned. So cool. I saw this car come from certain death to beautiful resurrection. Cannot wait to see how she looks when completed. I am one of those hooked on the green because it’s original. However, my childhood friend had a 68 in high school that was painted Maserati Red with the black stripe and black interior. So I am going with Maserati Red. Or a shade of red. 😊
I was reunited with my high school sweetheart last year. It was found under some trees where it had set since the 90’s. I got my 59 impala back. It started life red with a white top. I purchased this car when I was 15 right here in Ohio. Drove it through high school and then sold it in 1990 to purchase a 70 nova ss. I am glad the 59 was found. It wasn’t because I was looking. I was in these woods dropping tree limbs off my trailer when I discovered two cars sitting next to each other. Imagine my surprise and the tears when I realized what I had found. A video will be done about it soon.

You prob don’t remember but I’ve comment and have watched the whole series thus far. I’ve got a 68 Charger 383 all matching numbers car(2nd owner) which is a QQ1 with white vinyl top. I absolutely love the QQ1 Blue. Love the videos man, thanks for taking the time to video the process.

Yeah that’s really nice too! Laying down Brandywine base then layering candy black mixed in an intercoat clear(called murdered candy black) is a way to create this effect-as light or dark as you want..then final sealed in unmixed clear (tri-coat). Great suggestion, and if you look up murdered candy black..you’ll see several other variations of doing the same technique with limitless options.

I think hemi orange with some flake in it and a black or white rt stripe would be dope. I agree on no green, or gold. Everything is green or gold it seems, I hate it lol. Stoked for the charger tho!

Color: Last go around I voted for the Modern Version of Green just to keep something original. Next would be Black . Build it as a :Bullitt" . Tribute. I look forward to this build. My 69 R/T is in the same point. Look forward to following along the build process.

To be different I would paint it W1 Alpine White or the new Mopar gunmetal. Everyone goes orange, black, blue and so on. Another rare color would be T5 Copper lol

Dave, I'm a person who thinks you should do what you want with your car! If it needs a full rebody, do it! As far as color goes, there is only one color. RED! Any shade you like, but it has to be RED! (That's just me) You do you!

It's a 68 Dodge Charger, it's going to look amazing in any color. But since the body work is going to be so meticulous, I would think about a classic black car with no vinyl top or stripes. Or maybe a maroon red color. But please choose what you really like!

My 68’ was originally olive green and I said no way…I just can’t do it! At first I was set on black with a set of red tail-stripes but I’ve seen too many done that way now, and wanted something more unique. After looking at several different restored chargers in various colors…I ended up buying sublime green for when it’s ready to shoot(not too much longer). A few of my friends gave me a hard time for still choosing a green lol. Coincidentally I did see an olive green car completely redone-after I had bought the sublime … and I gotta tell ya, it made me seriously contemplate going back with the original it looked so good! As I walked around the car the metallic of that green from different perspectives was beautiful! With so many amazing impact colors though I was vehemently against it from the start lol. As I saw all these different chargers -in different colors…I would go from contemplating that particular color on my car..to undecided, and when I finally made my decision..it got to where I would end up back at where I was. I truly suggest that you at least see a few this way(in person) it will really inspire you if nothing else. Paint jobs are almost a forever thing.. Better make sure. B5 blue is one of my favorites that I really contemplated.
Plum crazy is what my first charger was(sprayed over a gold base-where it glowed in the light) and I absolutely loved it too! I really thought about that too-but I was torn between doing it that shade and the purple candy from house of kolor 😍! All it took was one of my buddies saying…good luck ever matching that when it gets scratched 🤦🏻♂️… as many cars as I’ve painted-I knew he was right! Doesn’t seem like I’m being too much help here 😂! Sorry brother, I’ll be following along, no matter what color you choose it’ll look good 🤷🏻♂️it’s a charger! 😁 by the way, that Mopar Joe is one heck of a great guy and a pretty strong engine builder too, I’d say you’re in great hands 🙏.

I once owned and sold which I regret, a 95 camaro. Which, yes it did have the 3.4 V6 but I loved the color and it was a blast because I loved to drive it and loved the color purple

I have been fallowing your build as I am building my 1970 charger w/68 grill and 69 tail lights. Im just getting ready for paint! Ive decided to go with the ford race red. the grill will be blacked out with a black bumble bee stripe on the rear end. the rims will be black also, it should look awsome. my next project is going to be a 70 cuda!! Ive really enjoyed your channel and its really helped me with my resto project!!

There are two colors I would choose from. These are original paint colors offered for the 1968 Charger.
1. EE 1 13372 Dark Blue Poly
2. MM 1 60492 Bronze Poly.
Both of these colors with a high gloss finish are amazing.

I'm not sure what the name of it is but I've seen it once on a 68 charger.. It was white and what I called rainbow pearl, in the sunlight you could see pinks and purples and blue and even alittle yellow if I remember right... It was amazing looking...
