Thanks man. Yeah I know what you mean about the SJ. I had one a few years ago and this jumbo joe is by far a better option. Maybe an upgrade is in order. ??
I've done cool stuff with a smokey Joe but the the regular one isnt as portable as the one that has the carry ring but no bottom vent. This one can be clamped shut and has a bottom vent and ash catcher. Big upgrade. Just made a bunch of chicken on it! Still figuring some stuff out.
I bought this as my first propane grill. It's been a fun, learning experience ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.
I sold my Smokey Joe after I tried a Jumbo Joe. It only occupies a slightly larger footprint but is every bit as easily portable and the larger cooking surface is a huge bonus.
Picked the very same Jumbo Joe as a work anniversary gift. Use it all the time with my Adrenaline charcoal basket as a second kettle for veggies and sides. Super versatile. Great video Jabin!
Hey Thanks Steven. I am really amazed at how great this grill is as well as how much more awesome it becomes with the SNS insert. Any great recipes that you have done with yours so far?
Hey bro I agree 100%. This an awesome grill. I smoked some of the best I have ever had using the Adrenaline Barbecue charcoal basket. Held temp perfectly.
No problem. If it wasn't for your insight into the size difference i would be stuck with a hotdog cooker (aka smoky joe). Glad you enjoyed that b-role. Just wait though, Im talking with a buddy of mine who's also in video production to make an epic cinematic cook.. haha..
I just bought one of these today for camping. Last year I bought the Performer 22 inch kettle. The year before that I bought both the Traveler and the Genesis II 320S. My wife says I have a problem.
Postal Barbecue I've done beef and pork spareribs, as well as chicken wings. All low and slow! And the grate on the Joe spins wonderfully, so I can use the cool grate technique! I only wish AdrenalineBBQ made a drip pan to fit the Jumbo Joe 😉
The little dude brining the q at the front door was the best part. I subbed man good stuff. I got the smaller one for another Webber to have and tailgating. I have the other one that is a 22 with a table. Love it love it love it.
One thing to remember with these portable Weber Grills is that if you're taking it somewhere else like camping, make sure you take off the legs and put them inside then lock down the lid with the handle. I also put some crumpled up newspaper in there while travelling so that the grill and ash catcher don't bang around inside. The reason why you want to remove the legs (and I found this out through experience) is that if you're going over any bumps, the grill jumps up and down and the legs get bent out of shape. It might seem simple to get them bent back properly but since there are three legs to get bent, they all get bent differently! To make removing the legs easier and not have to bring along a flat head screwdriver, I'm going to put some small nuts on the screws that hold the legs, then tighten them down. That way I only have to spin off the wingnuts and off I go! Other than this one thing (that was actually my fault), this is a great little grill!
Does the Weber Jumbo Joe have an ACTUAL 18-INCH GTRATE? I have a Slow 'n Sear Travel kettle that they market as an 18-inch grate. I measured my cooking grate and it measures just about 17 1/4 inches. My 18 inch grate from my Kamado Joe Classic is actually 18 inch. I can't use an 18 inch grate on the SnS Travel Kettle since you can't even close the lid. I'm ready to dump the Travel Kettle and buy a Jumbo Joe if the grate is actualy 18 inches. I thought of contacting you and hopefully let me know if the Jumbo Joe grate is actuall 18 inhes. I enjoy your videos and I'm a follower of your RUclips site. Thanky in advance and keep your videos coming.

Do the fire cubes leave a petroleum taste on the final product. I like to use the charcoal starter chimney with a little oil on some newspaper to start my coals , but looking for an easier way to start the fire.
I have a huge Old Country bbq/smoker that's awesome but to get it up to steak cooking temp I have to use a lot of fuel which ends up being wasted. This looks perfect for smaller cooks. Ty
I just got a weber jumbo joe from amazon about a week ago.. My question to you do u think I should season it or go straight to cooking on it?? I've seen video's where u would typically season a larger size grill ; but was wondering if I should season the jumbo joe
Great question. Because it is porcelain coated you don’t need to season it but I would let it run for a bit with some coals in it to burn off anything from the manufacturing process. You are going to live the jumbo Joe. I take mine everywhere!!! Love it , one of my favourite grills.

As far as a portable grill goes, I'm not sure you can do any better than a Jumbo Joe. I've been using the same Smokey Joe for about 12 years now and it's been worth every penny, think it was $29 new when I bought it?? I'm looking for a weber that I can take camping and I am leaning more towards the Weber Go Anywhere. Why even consider this over the Go Anywhere if you are looking for something portable?
Honestly, this is my first choice hands down for portability/versatility. I take this all over the place to cook thing like wing, to ribs, to roasts and even hot dogs.. Just close all the vents to choke/put out the fire. So u won’t waste coals u can reuse them with ur next cook. You don’t want a big smoke cloud when ur throw water on hot coals.
Hey man. Video was awesome. I need a grill cover for this grill. Actually more of a carrying bag. Can you help? I cannot find one. Weber does NOT sell one for the Jumbo Joe 18". Thanks, Daniel
@@PostalBarbecue yeah got it. i just wanted to keep it clean and neat. looking foward to using it in a few weeks when we go camping. it looks pretty nice.
Maybe to start with more traditional grilling items like burgers and hot dogs. But if your wanting to a full grilled feast then you would have to do things in batches possibly. That’s said, I’ve cooks lots of meals for myself and my three boys on it. You can still do a rack of ribs on it or a small roast or even pulled pork just not as big.
Ok so we watch you cook a steak on it. How convenient is it for camping? Have you taken it on the road yet, or is your review focused on passive income from affiliate links. Good video overall, but it doesn't look convenient to haul around especially for a family. Plus is a slow and seer really necessary?
Another Day, Another Project check out my IG. You’ll see it at the beach all the time with my boys. Honestly apart from my main grill this is my fav. Probably cause it goes to just cook but rather fun memories with it cause we take it out often.
Awesome.. I think you should at least own two.. One 22 and one jumbo.. AND....... one 26 i guess.... oh and add in a smokey mountain just in case right.. ha..
Idea for a future video: Does convection action actually help? Maybe compare either the Jumbo Joe or Smokey Joe (convection action due to kettle shape) with the Go Anywhere Grill. (square)
Can you point me to the video by Baby Back Maniac (Justin) that you mentioned? Forgive me if you linked and I just didn't see it. I'd like to watch it. Thanks!
A cook is a person, the word you're looking for is 'recipe'. Unless that is an attempt at being edgy that I missed? Re. the slow 'n sear, what does that do that the simpler Weber racks for indirect cooking won't do?
I had been contemplating getting a Jumbo Joe to take on camping trips. Now that I know there's a Slow 'n Sear that fits it, I'm probably going to be getting one soon. Is the grate you were using for the cold grate technique the one that comes with the Jumbo Joe, or an Adrenaline Barbecue grate? Just trying to get an idea of how much it'll all end up costing in the long run.
You are going to love it Jay. The grate is the standard Jumbo Joe, Adrenaline doesn't make an 18'' yet. That said the way the grate spins on the bowl means it will work great with the cold grate technique. That being said because it is the standard weber grate know that at some point it will rust out and need to be replaced. So in total this exact setup was: Jumbo Joe, 18'' Slow 'N Sear and my handy Napoleon bbq tools. All the links to everything is in the description for you.. Hope that helps with your planning.
Video itself was fine but the steak was not seared properly. You want to let the bar b q really heat up. When you sear the steak you want to let it sit there and really get some char on it. Then flip it once. You do not keep flipping it. Then you have to rest the steak a while before eating it. Technique issues with the cookery on this one
How can a sear be done or not done properly?. That is a personal taste, not to do with the doneness of the meat. I for one, like my searing lighter, others prefer a darker sear with a bit of char.
Alex G. There is a difference between dark grill marks and Maillard reaction grill marks do that but if they get too dark they can actually burn the meat. Spinning the grate to help keep it cooler will give a full seat on the steak meaning full Maillard reaction giving better flavor.
@@PostalBarbecue hard disagree. Never have I ever had bitter taste. I never heard anyone say what you are saying either. Agreed to disagree, never is a cold grate a better option imo.
AlexVids give it a try with hot coals. The best steaks I have had had no “grill marks” but full Maillard reaction. That said we all have different preferences which is the joy of cooking, we get to cook to those preferences.

Can you point me to the video by Baby Back Maniac (Justin) that you mentioned? Forgive me if you linked and I just didn't see it. I'd like to watch it. Thanks!
omg i am so happy i just got one
A cook is a person, the word you're looking for is 'recipe'. Unless that is an attempt at being edgy that I missed?
Re. the slow 'n sear, what does that do that the simpler Weber racks for indirect cooking won't do?
Haha. Yes you are right. A cook is also a process of combining and heating ingredients.
go annywhere or jumbo joe ?
Jumbo joe for me. It’s big enough you that you can use it as a main grill for smaller cooks and portable enough you can put it in the trunk of a car.
@@PostalBarbecue i bought jumbo joe amd smokey joe.
Complimenti per i tuoi video e per la tua simpatia che metti di buon umore ! Ciao
Thanks for stopping by. enjoy.
That was a good review
Wonderful Video! But... that "T-Bone Steak" looks more like a "Porterhouse" steak to me..
Oh for sure. For some reason out butchers sells them both together as the same. Sooo shhhhh…. don’t tell him or it will go up in price. Haha.
Great upload! :-)
thanks man.
Great
Kid in the box!!!😂😂😂
This grill is what I'm looking for to cook my chicken hot dogs and hamburgers
This is a very versatile grill for sure.. you could even do a rack of ribs on it.. cheers.
As a beginner should I get the Joe pro or the kettle?
@Dusty Grady the jumbo pro IS the cheap one
$88 CAD for the slow N sear. Wowsers....
Nice information, but the Ozzy Osborne sounding music playing is a distracting
Yeah. See what you think of the newer videos. Always trying to tweak things.
And Walmart has it!
why rotate the grate to the cold side? no point. just flip it.
It allows you to get a full meat seat without grill marks which can cause a slightly bitter taste.
@@PostalBarbecue grill marks make a bitter taste? the sear increases flavor. i never heard anyone say that before.
You need some grill grates for the best steaks none of that flare up nonsense
got em... this is just a different cooking method.. both are great.. use what you like and enjoy your cook.. cheers.
New Review of the Weber Jumbo Joe Grill with the 18inch Slow 'N Sear Accessory. It's time to level up your portable grilling experience! Whats your favourite thing to cook on the Jumbo Joe?
It's it true that the Jumbo Joe is now manufactured in China??
Respectable review, but that way-to-loud head banging has got to go!!
Fair enough. We have since changed the music since then.. Let me know what you think of the new video style.
Much better. Thank you.
that you didnt show how it packs up is a disappointment...probably the biggest selling feature for this type of Q...
