Written by Gail Renard this neglected children's ghost story is set in both modern and Victorian times, with its intriguing narrative mystery, especially considering it was original intended for children, it remains today an effective atmospheric drama.
This episode was originally broadcast on the 29th April, 1981

Anthony is definitely not a gentleman and as for Louisa! I hope Allie/Allegra are both safe. 🤞 I'm waiting with bated breath for the next episode. Thank you.

This a real time traveller into another world of the technology and society back then. Women had far less independence and equality. Enjoying the uploads of Major Dolby's Cat. He has good taste.

They used to make decent children's dramas in the past. Don't think modern kids would have the patience for this type of show now. We recently showed my 7 year old great niece an original episode of Thunderbirds. She didn't get far before describing it as 'boring'.
These parallel timeline stores are often enjoyable. Alan Garner's play 'Redshift' is worth a look if you can find it (not for kids though). It's set at Mow Cop on the Cheshire border and follows three connected timeline events. Quite a mystical thing. One of my favourites.
Does any one else remember 'Escape Into Night' from 1972? That was scary, what with the threatening creepy boulders that could move about. That and Dr Who gave me nightmares.
Isn't Major Anthony a tad too old for Allegra or did I miss some dialogue?

Escape Into Night was based on the book Marianne Dreams I believe, wonderfully creepy, as is Come Back Lucy ( 1978) and the book Charlotte Sometimes, all have a wonderfully creepy, eerie feel they did so well back then.

Her obsession and extreme NEED for her way older brother (meaning just how close could they have been growing up? Not very imo) is so odd and creepy. What’s her deal?
