Battle Systems Core Space is my favourite game apart from Blood Bowl 7s:) Good idea btw comparing prices against GW terrain. The Battle Systems terrain is durable as it wont snap if you drop it, it will just bend haha. As it's cardboard you can custom make little additions, I like to add things like posters on the walls and extra signs.
I speed built all of it so didn't get to mess around with custom bits like posters and signs but now the videos complete I have time to try and make it my own a bit more so I'll definitely be going back and looking at it again in my own time :)
I was not emotionally or mentally prepared for that fourth bite On topic, I recently got some Battle Systems stuff (the cheaper gothic ruins and post-apoc camp sets) and they're absolutely excellent. GW is really missing a trick by not making low-price/high-quality card-and-clips scenery.
If noone was talking about their kickstarters, bs always gives a ton of extra bits with their pledges. The fantasy sets had entire extra buildings like the forge! These guys fucking rock. I love tinkerturf as well.
I got the battle systems apacolypse City Core set and the police station add-on for my exaction squad home field. It's treating me great! My necron crypteks don't fit in 1 story buidlings, but you can build the map around that.
That's an awesome amount of terrain, also, should larger minis be able to fit in a one story building built for humans? for example i don't think a real space marine could get through the front door of my house. :L
@@LizardofDoom I agree, I actually love the fact that that they don't fit. The extra layer of asymmetry makes the battlefield feel more real in my opinion (i even have 2 dumpsters that only 25mm or less can fit in and close the lid. Only used once but it was funny as can be to see in match). But, I do want to make sure not to close off too much to them when I place my buildings; so I make sure some with ruined roofs, or taller ceilings and double doors exist through the map for them to enter too.
The hats a pretty good idea, I’ve been painting dirty for so long I think the next project after the chaos knights is going to be a cleaner army then I’ll dive back in to filth 🙂
I just came across this video randomly - and i LOVE battlesystems. I have their scifi/corespace range and a lot of their fantasy sets - even the northern settlement! Yes its paper but take the chapel, and the battle sisters battle sanctum angel statue and couole them together with some rocks for static texture and it all looks great together. That chapel is so unique for both scifi and fantasy. Highly recommend all the products! The newest kickstarter looks awesome! The fantasy mixed with scifi one!
One of my favorite battlesystems - scifi soecifically - is their alien webbing! It looks so sick with avp minis! You just add them as layers or as perpendicular angles to overhang halls and drip down from ceilings! Oh and the landing bay is super thematic. 😊
Your ability to eat Apples and other assorted fruit like a completely normal human being is one of the reasons I subscribed to your channel, great job!
Your videos are so good, absolutely my favourite hobby youtuber now. I would love to see you make your own custom terrain, always fascinated by the ideas people have for that and you wee super creative.
Thank you mate, I have some ideas with some massive empty protein powder tubs but I need to get the chaos knight diorama done and dusted because Orktober is looming large 🙂
I love how you just wing stuff as you go along. Lizard Looks may become my favourite thing. This was seriously useful and these are going straight on my gift list. Would you consider reviewing systems outside of GW?
I can't follow a script without sounding like robot and I have ADHD so it is what is is :L For now as a small channel I'm sticking to GW stuff over all for the viewing figures but I will be branching off when I've built the audience. That being said I will be joining in with Miniacs concept of "other games april" and I'm planning on dedicating April to another system, most probably A Song of Ice and Fire miniatures game for the first one as I love that game and I have an unpainted Greyjoy army in my pile of future fun.
@@LizardofDoom it was genuine, it's one of the things I love most about your channel. Secondborn has ADHD and I'm finding that others' stories surrounding ADHD seriously resonate with my own experiences though I have no diagnosis and haven't sought one out. Keep doing what you do, if it is what it is then it is awesome
Great video with really helpful info, thank you. Did you end up disassembling everything and put it away in the end, and if so how was it assembling it again next time? I’m considering terrain to replace the original Necromunda cardboard terrain.
I have, it all fits back in the boxes it comes in which is great but I would recommend implementing a plastic baggie system so you know which bits for which build. Putting it back together is reasonably intuitive after you’ve built it once.
@@LizardofDoomYep, you should keep small buildings (such as the trade containers) and other "items" assembled and disassemble all walls and floors (they are easy to assemble with clips) :) I purchased almost all their products and you can even mix all of them :)
Great video, the terrain looked good, and so easy to have ready to play, bit concerned about it's longevity though, especially if you're taking it apart and putting it back together again on semi-regularly.
After 4 quite long games using it and reshaping some of it for each game there's a few small frays around a couple of connection but only one or two over the whole tables worth. Heavy use might result in a bit more but I was impressed with how well it stood up to some quite hectic games.
I glued several "fixed" parts of mine together and gave them a spray enamel coat. Not only did it help the flimseyness of some connections, I think it should last a long while now. I need a larger carrying case now, but i can walk into my friend's house and set up a board in minutes.
This looks like great terrain to get set up and gaming quickly! Might get some once my partner and I are actually moved into our new house in a couple of months, and actually have space to set up terrain. Also, classic Max, gotta love a your mum joke :D
@@LizardofDoom Good stuff, would be cool to see a deep dive into it. It looks good from what I can see, but yeah have a good look into it, would be solid to see a review on it!
I bought some TT combat MDF terrain, that was good for the price but the assembly can be a pain, I only did a quick paint scheme to it but you get a lot of is for your money Vs GW but the GW is a nicer finish I feel and likely easier to assemble
Next two videos will be knight diorama based, 2 videos a month will be on the “main project” and 2 on side stuff, had a busy couple of weeks irl so I needed some easier videos to put out 🙂
I know everyone talks up the ability to flat pack the battle systems terrain, but I think that is disingenuous as to how people actually use terrain. (not you specifically, that's how they market it) Like are you really going to want to flat pack the terrain that took you a whole day to build? Absolutely not. I ended up gluing my battle systems terrain together as sold pieces to create more solid terrain out of them. Specifically when you look at the northern stuff, they come with these false floors that don't attach to the building as well as squigly little cobblestone paths. I ended up getting cardboard and gluing it all down then covering the seams with flock and hitting it with mod podge and it looks fantastic - but absolutely not able to be flat packed.
I'm sorry not even one min into the video and that skit ends with gagging on almost a whole apple - weirdest 40k hobby video opening so far - bonus points for originality 👍🍏😵💫 And as for a recommendation - this might be quite apt considering your 'Nids - Tabletoptech (website and tiktok account) - they manufacture an interesting set of cases that do not use foam or require magnets - it appears to use compression o-rings to hold bases - I believe they are an american/aussie company, relatively new on startup and finding their feet/niche in the marketplace - If you use their website chat service - Helen is a great help and will involve extra members of their team to help you out. I have a million old style GW cases because I worked there when they went oop and we had to “get rid of them” I’ll have a look at shooting them an email 🙂
Battle Systems customer support is really good from my experience I'd have a chat with them if somethings out of stock to see when its coming back or what they can do about it :) kudos for making your own though.
Battle Systems is the terrain that I use all my gaming terrain needs
Dude, How Are You So Great At This?! Thank You For Showing Your Process!

neither was I.
The terrain is great and it fulfills its purpose perfectly.
I'm ashamed to admit I've never played a game of 40k despite having a full army of Guardsmen...but when I do...now I can get the terrain to do it

Front Line Gaming do some flarpack terrain building's. It's MDF so more durable but to not look like MDF does require painting
fkn.. menacingly eating a apple to begin with is a power move bro
no apple stands a chance against the Lizard of Doom.
TinkerTurf has a *very* similar product. Would love to see them compared.
Great review, but ooof that price for essentially cardboard scenery is wild
It does have a bit of a hefty price tag but I'm up for paying for convenience sometimes, filling an empty table in one day is no small feat.

I dig it. Maybe just spruce it up a bit with some bits and or vegetation and yeah color the edges but looks like it gets the job done.
